The only nice place open during the March Blizzard of 2026 that was able to feed me after my Mayo appointment, and I'm so glad it was Pittsburgh Blue. I love Pittsburgh Blue whenever I'm in the Twin Cities, and now the Rochester location has won me over too with its fireplace and warm welcoming atmosphere. We got immediate seating at the bar, which was such a relief in the middle of the blizzard. The happy hour menu was excellent, the service was friendly, and everything we ordered was spot on. The double stack burger and the six Parmesan garlic wings were both delicious and an amazing value during happy hour. Review stars for the bar only: the service and drinks were fantastic. That $9 double cheeseburger is no joke! Really good and for that price! Ambiance of this place is a little different, there was one full section that is literally small booths, parallel to large booths and it was just kind of weird. The brick walls were fantastic. I bet it gets pretty loud in there. General review (unrated): The price for the rest of the menu for me, was absurd. Coming from Chicago area these prices were on par with places in downtown Chicago. Started with lobster bisque which was fine, not fantastic but pretty good. Proceeded to the garlic knots and crab cake. Both items were disappointing, my fault for not looking closer at menu however funky green sauce and no lump crab. I couldn't identify the seasoning but not good. Garlic knits were extremely stale. I was super excited to try this cause nobody can seem to do Pittsburgh style very few places as a matter of fact. thought they would have this in the bag. They said they could do Pittsburgh blue where it's cold in the middle. I said well I want it warm in the middle, but still want Pittsburgh Style. It didn't quite come like that. It was good but would've been better if it was Pittsburgh style. You would think since it's in their name they would have no problem. We got the hashbrowns the House ones they were OK not great. I would not get them again and the brussels sprouts were a little too sweet for my liking. It was still good. Just not amazing for that kind of money. I expect a little better not gonna lie. Ck out their Happy Hour 4-6 then stay for dinner if you love the food! HH all night on Sundays. I've basically stayed here for a month the last two months due to medical issues. I never tire of the cool fire wall. Prime Instagram options. I love the Capriahani (sp?) & Lamb lollipops & chicken wraps. Obviously most people come for the steaks which look legit. The service in the hotel is always a 10 out of 10. All of the women bartenders I've had have been amazing and most of the men, although there is one who might be my frenime lol They definitely cater to a higher end clientele, including Mayo employees, patients, tourists, families, and locals. Very romantic date night spot although they do have room for groups too. Hotel has a couple museums and sky bridge connections. Parking might be tricky but Galleria across the street. Burger was just ok. I recommend sticking to the steaks. Good wine list. read more

Overall disappointing! One of us got the porterhouse steak and it was NOT EVEN 1" inch thick - this is NOT a steakhouse steak! It was ordered medium, but came partially well done. Two of us got the bone-in filet. They were ordered medium rare, and were RAW from about the middle of the steaks going in toward the bone. We sent them back after eating some but they came back the same. The skin on the baked potato was overdone and like leather. Aviation cocktail, excellent. Mashed potatoes, excellent. I spent nearly three weeks at Mayo Clinic and stayed at the Hilton Rochester, so I had plenty of time to sample their menu. The "fully loaded" mashed potatoes are outstanding. Best potatoes I've ever had. The strawberry cheesecake (ask for extra strawberries) is also terrific. And I enjoyed their "whimpy burger" which was a good size and not too large and the Wedge salad. Those were my four "can't miss" if you want a great meal. I sat in a booth and looked out the window at the snow. It was lovely and not noisy during Happy Hour. I hurt the chef's feelings by talking 'hostilly'. maybe it was the bogus charge for fresh horse radish to go with his woeful prime rib; a 10 ounce portion that was 1/4-1/3 fat, and him being called on it. its called projection my man. i fully understand prime rib and one cut can be a bit fatty, but not for that price and not when the prices are already high and for it to overtake the piece of meet. I had an excellent filet mignon, with an unusual topping of melted cheese and bacon. I like my steaks, medium rare, and it was perfectly cooked. Additionally, I had a side order of brussels sprouts that were both spicy and tangy and very good. The portion size was intended to serve one person, but could have served two. My visits at Pittsburgh blue have been some of my favorite steak experiences of all time. Their aged steak is super flavorful with a strong age note and super awesome crust that is unmatched. My pictures can't even do this goated crust justice. When you dip your steak in bone marrow or their decadent lobster bisk, it takes it to a whole nother level. read more

Went for my birthday dinner after touring Mayowood. Started off with a Cesar salad and french onion soup, both of which were ok but not phenomenal. Hubby and I both enjoyed prime rib, shared an order of wonderfully crispy hash browns, and got a complimentary lava cake dessert. Those were all so delicious! The horseradish sauce that came with the prime rib could've been spread on a flip flop for all of me, and I still would've loved it. Sooooo good. Our server was awesome too! Great steaks. Not prime grade but for that price it was a great steak. Service is excellent and the restaurant is well decorated.

I stopped at the restaurant on Saturday July 30,2023 @ 5:15 pm with wife. We were seated and served promptly, had a reservation. The atmosphere was very pleasant with lots of room between tables. Wife had walleye and I had prime rib. Food was excellent and again service was good. Price was a little above average but comparable to more high end restaurants. Was not thrilled with having to order sides Ala carte which really should be part of your meal selection. They also have a service fee of 3% besides the tip you leave for the waiter which the restaurant should absorb not the customer! Our meal minus drinks was $118. Only thing that was concerning was not many people even with a convention in town. Hope they can stay in business. Will try again if in Rochester, Mn. read more

We had fish (walleye) and seafood pasta. The pasta was fair but the fish was terrible... literally tasted like cardboard.

Food - top flight steaks for upper flight prices. Table of four and all of us enjoyed the meal. Burger, steaks, fish - all were very good. Service - was great. Accommodated all requests and checked back appropriate amount to fill additional wishes. Ambiance - we went in the summer, so fire displays were not the "cool" attraction at the time but fall, spring, and especially winter it would be an excellent venue to visit. Hey, winter is a 4-5 month season in Rochester so it's a great call. In summer with 85+ degree heat and 90% humidity , it looses some of the appeal for those two months. This is a late post, I actually had dinner here on 4/29... was invited to have dinner here and the service was a little slow but on point...there were a lot of us in the dinner party. Not being a meat eater in a steakhouse....so I had the jumbo lump crab cake appetizer with a spinach salad and the key lime pie for dessert. The food was amazing, am so glad that was my choice, it was perfect! The company made the dinner, however I have to say that the staff was very kind, attentive and nice...considering how many people were in our party and all of our different quirky things! This place genuinely should have scored more. The service is excellent, the rooms are wonderful allowing the customer to feel great, there is a lot of food and it is expensive. But, we call in for food, and it wasn't that good. The greens were great, the mashed potatoes were adequate, the bacon bits were awful, and the appetizers were good. Unfortunately, despite the really good service, the food, especially the signature filet steak, was fair at best. The million dollar steak was very fatty, tasteless and not anywhere near as good as some recently bought skirt at a third of the price. Again, it deserves to be better...the service was truly great. Horrible aside from being over priced. Two of us ordered the same steak medium rare. We got one rare and one medium well. The exact same steak ordered exactly the same and they weren't done at all the same way. For this money I expect them to be able to cook to the correct doneness. The "crisp garlic shell" was mushy and cold inconclusive vegetable matter slapped on top The mushroom side was flavorless boiled mushrooms. To add insult to injury they dropped some ridiculous charge of @ 5% for "sanitary cleaning" or some such. An obvious leftover from covid that they felt they could get away with continuing. We were so excited to have this spot connected to our hotel, it did not disappoint. We've dined here before many years ago, and will probably have to go back more often. This location in particular is beautiful, they have the social distancing in place for tables and everyone is properly masked. The cowboy ribeye (bone in) was perfectly cooked to medium rare with the crisp blackened crust, it was delicious. The calamari was also very good, crunchy and seasoned well. We went to Pittsburgh Blue on a Sunday at 5:30PM with reservations. We chose to do free street parking instead of the $7 valet. Upon arrival, we were not impressed as it seemed to be a sports bar with people in casual clothes talking loudly. However, when we were actually seated, it was in a beautiful back room full of wines and definitely more fancy. There was still a couple wearing casual clothes in this back room, so it still felt a little weird being so dressed up, but again, the fancy ambiance was there. It was not packed at all at 5:30PM on a Sunday. We noticed it started getting busy around 7PM though. It was our one year wedding anniversary, so we had high expectations and made sure to let our waitress know about our celebration. Our waitress was super friendly throughout dinner. We ordered a bottle of Pinot noir, two medium rare filet mignons (his had a crab cake on top) with chimichurri sauce, side of mac & cheese, side of creamed corn, and side of mashed potatoes. The food tasted absolutely amazing; our steaks were cooked to perfection. We brought home a lot of food that fed us the entire next day. It was pretty expensive - around $250 total including tip and a 3% sanitation fee (which is really dumb). However, I definitely think it was worth it for our one year wedding anniversary. I was kind of hoping that we would get something comped (e.g. dessert) since we were celebrating something, but that definitely didn't happen. This was the hot new restaurant in town and I have been dying to try it for months! With that being said I have to agree with some of the other reviewers that their prices don't match up with what you are given. To be clear, I'm not afraid of spending some decent money on a really nice dinner but I wouldn't call what I had here a really nice dinner. The steak comes out on its own plate and EVERYTHING else is extra. If you want mushroom on top extra, if you want cheese on top extra, you get the idea. And the steak is pretty much $40 by itself. Then you have to order sides. The family style sides are HUGE so you better make sure everyone at the table likes them or you'll be taking a to-go box home with just sides. To me that's kind of a waste, I would rather the portions be proportional and charge less $$$. Okay here's the real upsetting part -- this place is suppose to be known for its steak, it's a steakhouse! And I didn't think the steak was very good. This was very disappointing. The sides were great and the desserts were great, even the appetizers were good! But the theme of the whole place, the steak, wasn't so good. The walleye was amazing and the sauce was something I still think about but the sides were served family style and were additional cost to the main dish. Not only was this high priced, but it was not convenient as the members of our party have very different tastes in food.
