We figured as with most places, that the sandwich would be piled high with meat and kraut. After all, it was $14-15 with a side. To our shock and surprise...the sandwich was thin. Very thin with maybe a spoonful of kraut. I will say, the flavor was not bad. Not enough for 2 people to share. We had coleslaw as our side, do not recommend. Really disappointing. Hello I give Charlie's 4 stars!! They would get a 1 Star if this rating was on decor and look! But this rating is on their breakfast. The food was very good, fast and pretty inexpensive. The wait staff was this incredible hard working 70 plus lady. She was so polite while handling 6-8 tables herself!! Kudos!! Oh and i noticed Charlie was working also!! Pretty cool! Ordered breakfast for pick up. Walked in to the front/cashier counter. No one was there. Saw some waitresses just behind the wall of the cashier counter. They didn't greet me right away and was just chit chatting away. I stood there for about 5 mins before I couldn't wait anymore and walked around the corner to request some assistance. Right off the bat was already annoyed. First time experience did not go so well. Besides the service. The biscuits and gravy was awesome! I had many biscuits and gravy in my day but this is easily top 3. The biscuits were buttered and toasted (I'm assuming on a flat top grill) to get that crunchy texture with the gravy. Smart move. I also ordered The Charlie Special. Two cakes, two eggs, two bacons or sausage for 4.95. Which is an awesome price! Can't go wrong with that. I think they use real maple syrup for the pancakes which you don't often find at most places so that was nice as well. I would've give them more stars if the overall experience was better. Boy has the food quality and service sure gone down hill here!! we have eaten here a multitude of times and it was by far the worst meal I've had. The fish was overcooked. It was so dry. I couldn't cut it with a fork. I soaked it and melted butter, and that still didn't help. The clam chowder soup was a cornstarch, milk, lacking any content or flavor. I stood at the bar for 10 minutes to get a drink when we first came in and finally one of the local said "I'll get her attention" after the waitress had looked at me about 25 times. There's two sides, and we ate at the restaurant section and not the pub, so that could have made a difference. The seats and booths had a lot of stains on them. We all had the fish special but I had the fish sandwich. The breading was good but it was seeping grease. Staff had good time management and were friendly. This review is specifically in regards to Charlie's Eatery & Pubs catering service. We worked with Charlie & his staff to cater a high school reunion in the clubhouse at Soldier's Field Golf Course. The food was amazing. The service was outstanding. The venue was great. They did a great plated meal service for us, along with a cash bar. I can't say enough good things about Charlie & his staff. We had two vegan guests in our group and Patrick, the chef, worked closely with them to provide them with a vegan lasagna that they said was fantastic! Everyone was impressed and had a great time! I will ABSOLUTELY consider Charlie's for catering in the future and will definitely recommend them! read more

Came in on a Friday night for dinner with my wife, in laws and sister-in-law. 3 of us had the Friday special, all you can eat Cod. My wife had the BLT, and I had the broiled shrimp. Excellent meal and terrific service. They also had home made strawberry rhubarb pie for dessert, along with strawberry shortcake. They were wonderful. This was my first time here. We often stop in on the weekends for the great brunch/buffet. We caught them sunday morning around 10:45am and they were completely slammed with customers. The great thing is that the staff is incredible and were working through it and making sure everyone got taken care. Charlie you need to be really proud of your team. My wife and I tried this for breakfast which we thought was the safest option for this location. We were the only customers there on a weekend morning. The food was not good, very cheap low quality and poorly cooked. Breakfast is one of the easier meals to prepare and they did a poor job of it. It was like a really bad rundown Dennys. read more

My boyfriend and I live really close by so we decided to give this place a shot. I think it used to be the Elk's club or something. We walk in the door and two people are behind the bar, see us standing there, and don't say a word. We finally walk around to a table and grab a menu, but the food doesn't look like anything worth spending money on, plus the atmosphere is about as cozy and romantic as a public restroom. We both literally stood there for ten minutes looking at this menu and NO ONE came over and asked us if we wanted to sit down, if we wanted anything, etc. So we walked out in plain sight. Several of us went there on Jan 12most everybody liked their food but. Those of that had Chili were disappointed. It seemed to have no spices etc int. Was very bland. Need to find a new recipe. I was there on Friday, March 31 at 5 pm with a group of 8. I got there after my group and waited an hour to get my first and only drink. Apparently they were using some new system to order drinks and food and obviously it wasn't efficient. I commented to our wait staff, Cheyenne, who was a trooper through it all. They had talked to their manager about the timing of using a new system on a busy night; a horrible idea. She said her manager barked at the staff about that. Took another 30 minutes to get our food. The prices were reasonable and the food decent. I am writing a letter to the manager as well. They should have worked out the bugs in the system before a Friday night. They could have used more help. Had an awesome Benefit there for our daughter! Nice place! We Set up tables how we wanted them in big middle event Center. Had great food, sloppy joes and chips and pickles! Wonderful! Staff was great. Then there was a restaurant on one side with awesome breakfast/lunch and a bar on the other side with drinks, pull tabs and food! Charlie was responsive and had good suggestions. Unfortunately, I do not recommend Charlie's Eatery and Pub. Although the food is "decent", the service very much lacks. I ordered a salad over the phone, since we were visiting a family member in the hospital, and it was close. I made the walk over to the restaurant, and I picked up the salad myself. At the time I had ordered extra ranch (don't judge), but didn't realize until I got back to the hospital room that I had absolutely no ranch. When I called to let them know, they were absolutely rude beyond belief. Apparently, it was my fault, because I did not double check. Regardless, I asked them if they wouldn't mind delivering the dressing less than half a block to the hospital. I said I would meet them at the door. They delivered after more than 15 minutes. The delivery boy had a cigarette in hand, zero respect, and a chip on his shoulder. Although, the food was "decent" the service was the worst. read more

I kind of like this place. I have been there a few times during my long stay in Rochester. One reason I like Charlie's is because there's usually not that many people there lol! Seriously though I like it not crowded and it feels kind of private. I first had chicken strips but they were more like chicken sticks and I didn't really like them. Decided to give the place another shot and I got the patty melt and I thought it was very good. I also have tried the taco salad and it was good.
