Visiting Rochester there are several restaurants to choose from in the downtown area. I walked through the Galleria and then around outside to see my options and came up on this place. This is a cool Irish Pub. The decor is beautiful. Some of the walls are decorated with pictures from Dublin Ireland that reveal some of it's history. The stained glass windows throughout the restaurant really give the restaurant a nice feel. The background music was catchy and upbeat. As I checked out the menu a James Brown song came on and I started dancing. The hostess asked if I was dining in and I said I am now. I sat in a booth that was very comfortable and enclosed which gave some privacy to the adjoining booth. My waitress was really nice. She and another other waitress helped me narrow down what to order. I went with the chicken tenders and pub chips. The plate looked very appealing. The food was hot and tasted great. The tenders came with a sweet chili sauce that was good, but I was more in the mood for savory and asked for a side of the Nashville Hot Sauce which hit the spot. This was my first time here and it was a great experience. read more

I was here in mid-August with a friend. I ordered a burger and it was fine. Nothing spectacular. My friend, however, had the meatloaf because the server said it was specially priced - and it was TERRIBLE. I tried everything on her plate. The texture of the meatloaf was mush. The Guinness gravy was so potent and, frankly, odd, that we wondered what it was trying to hide. The creamed cabbage was so overcooked that it was almost cabbage SAUCE. Service was good, which is the only reason it gets two stars. read more

When my work team travels, we look for an Irish pub. This one hit all the marks. The ambiance is just like the pubs I visited in Dublin. The server was outstanding - she is very proud of where she works and told us a wee bit about the history of the decor, as well as making great recommendations. I can't remember her name but her significant other was the bartender. Happy hour specials: 10 Service: 11 out of 10 Food: 9.5 out of 10 Ambiance: 9.5 out of 10 (needs music!) All the apps were great (the goat cheese bruschetta was my favorite!) and the Dick Titus Commercial was very flavorful. It was missing something so I asked for and received some horseradish. We plan to return here to try some more of the extensive menu. read more

Just what we needed after and before appointments at Mayo today. We were greeted promptly and taken to a nice table but I believe we probably could have asked to sit anywhere today. Server was very positive and friendly. Food was fine and came out hot from the kitchen. A nice lunch place in Rochester and very handy to the clinics. read more

Went for dinner for our anniversary last evening (Sunday). This was our 3rd time here, the previous probably over 1 year ago, and was shocked by how downhill it has gone. First, the young woman who greeted us seemed to want to shuffle us off to bar seating, despite multiple open tables in the main dining, and a couple open tables outdoors (waiting to be bussed when we arrived and still dirty when we left). She was short with us and seemed to rush not only us but with the vantage point we had once seated, literally everyone else who came in. The restaurant was dirty. Dust all over the fixtures, streaks on the glass so bad that they were nearly opaque-- sad, given the beauty in this historic building and gorgeous wooden bar. The waitress was plenty enough, but forgot to bring my salad. When I spoke up as my husband's soup came, it was delivered to the table several minutes later, just as our main entrees arrived. The food itself was still pretty good-- garden side salad was good, the chicken piccata was tasty (very rich) , and husband enjoyed the Dick Titus Commercial sandwich. Hopefully they' turn things around-- this used to be a great place, and certainly a good location. read more

Feom the outside the place looks cozy, inside it was cute with all the decor. I wanted to go big with a yummy , fatty dinner before I am to fast and went with the Shepards pie. Omg! Did not disappoint. The mashed potatoes were so creamy and buttery. Yum! What made the place even more amazing is Katie. She is the sweetest and provided tips and even a map of Rochester and where she goes to shop, eat, etc. read more

Visiting for a wedding. This was near our hotel. The lunch special of "pick 2" between soup, salad, and sandwich was perfect. The crispy chicken wrap was simple but good. The Caesar salad was more of a Caesar/cobb combo. The spinach and artichoke dip appetizer was perfectly cheesy. Our waitress was a little absent minded but very sweet Would come again to maybe try the burger read more

What a beautiful venue with authentic music and food! A T M O S P H E R E The decor, the seating, the music...just everything. The ambient lighting creates an atmosphere that is warm and the music makes everything feel so lively. Just a perfect combo to go with great food! S E R V I C E Our server was phenomenal! Not only did she make recommendations when we ordered, she consistently made sure we had everything we needed, and even encouraged us stay after we had paid to enjoy a fresh warm cup of coffee! So inviting and courteous!! F O O D My Dad had the Celtic Meatloaf and I had the Broiled Fish Tacos with the Guinness Stew. Everything tasted great and was cooked to perfection! 10/10 recommend coming here for lunch or dinner! read more

Cool space with an Irish Pub vibe. Josh behind the bar poured a perfect pint of Guinness and was very pleasant and attentive. I had the fish and chips. Again, it was perfect. The chips were crisp on the outside and tender inside. The fish was breaded to perfection and very tasty. The slaw was a delicious blend of sweet dressing and crunchy veggies. Grape tested. Grape approved. read more

Food, service, ambiance all great. We will go back many times. I recommend scotch eggs and seafood chowder.

Six of us had an enjoyable dinner here. The Shepherd's Pie was excellent. The Brickhouse Pasta also very good. My stuffed salmon was good, but a bit overcooked and dry. The risotto under it would have been excellent with a more subtle citrus flavor. Our server, Nicole, did well handling a very busy night! read more

Went there twice, got the pretzels both times, love the food there! The service was great, we got our food very quick. This place really felt like an Irish pub, the booths were nice and the decorations were great! Fish and chips were delicious, light batter. Old fashion was perfect. Decor and service were great

I love this place. Authentic and delicious treats await any who walk in. The atmosphere is of a modern Irish pub with knickknacks throughout. Their shepherds pie is practically perfect and a lunchtime bargain and their Guinness fish and chips are amazing. Servers are always friendly, fast and accommodating. I only wish the two aforementioned entrees weren't so great so I could try something new on the menu. Anytime I am working at Mayo this is my go to lunchtime spot. read more

Atmosphere and food are both very good but the service was poor.waitress had a Terrible attitude blaming her failures on our staff.

Bathrooms available, right off the subway. Not much parking, perhaps a parking deck nearby? I walked here so I am unsure. So I have it 4 stars because everyone i was with loved their meals. I wasn't a fan of mine. Over salted, and wilted tasting Mediterranean pasta (gluten free) now it was gf but it was not good pasta. Undercooked and gummy. The chicken it came with was good but it came about 10 minutes after I got my pasta. So that was not great. Our server was sweet but I was a bit upset that I had to wait so long for them to grill up some chicken. My friends got the stew, shepherds pie and corned beef and cabbage. They all seemed to enjoy their meals. The stew was thick and the broth was like gravy thick. He says he was amazing. The portions looked plenty big. So don't get what I got because it won't be served together, it will be undercooked, and poorly seasoned(by this I mean over seasoned) read more

Our first time here and it was so delicious! Loved my fish & chips and especially the Baileys cheesecake..wow, it tops one of the best desserts I've had (I'm a definite sweet tooth)! Large portions for lunchtime. My daughter and I shared the chicken tenders and fries with a side salad. This was more than enough for the two of us. She doesn't care for fish, so I did not get to try the fish and chips but I will definitely be back to try those since I heard they are great. The service was great, and they were very attentive. A really unique in fun pub to visit for drinks or a meal. The location is also really close to the mayo clinic. read more

My husband and I were staying at the Kahler due to Mayo appointments. We decided to try the Brick House the first night we were there. It was so good we went back the next night! Service was fantastic! The atmosphere was great. The food was exceptional! I had the reuben sandwich the 1st night with fries. The fry sauce they give you is amazing. Next night I wanted to step outside my comfort zone so I ordered "Bangers and mashed". Very good! Save room for the bread pudding! My only complaint is I live 6hrs away from this place! read more

DO NOT RECOMMEND! We came for a late lunch after spending most of our day at Mayo. No one at the host desk; waited and then had to go to kitchen to get some who didn't greet us but instead threw the menus on table and walked off. She later came back to say it will be a minute even though there was only one other couple in the restaurant. If we weren't so hungry we would have walked out. It didn't get any better - we could hear the same waitress in a heated conversation with a coworker which was totally unprofessional especially when other customers could hear her. She made the whole experience unpleasant and honestly I can't say much about the rest of the service. It was like we were inconveniencing them Food was not very good - I had the meatloaf. Seemed to come right out of a box. My husband felt the same way about the bangers and mash I hate leaving reviews like this but there are a lot of folks coming through Mayo and I don't want them to experience what we experienced after a long day of md appts and treatment read more

Wow, what a great place! We had a five-star experience at lunch. Service was exemplary, even though our server had a lot of tables to attend to. Food was amazing, from the pretzel stick appetizer (the unique shape is fun!), our main entree stew and salad, and the bread pudding for dessert. The bar menu is great, too--my husband was able to have Kilkenny beer, which is hard to find in the US, while I had a Magners cider. The atmosphere was enjoyable, too, with a classy pub motif; I loved that the front window opened up to provide a street view and some refreshing summer air. read more

We both had the Fish and chips and they were excellent. Fries were great snd the Aioli sauce was magnificent.

This place was happening! We found it while walking between the Marriott and Mayo Clinic Subway. Looking up its Yelp ratings we knew we were in for a good pub gastro experience! It didn't let us down. We ordered our cocktails and decided on two Apps: Ruben Egg Rolls! What's not to love after putting a Ruben in an Egg Roll and frying it up and having melty Swiss corned beef and cabbage dipping it into Thousand Island with egg roll crunch! Great fusion idea! Then we had the Cork County Mussels in Harp Beer! Glad they gave us the ciabatta bread to sop up that beer sauce! While waiting on the main course we were sharing, I decided on a mixed drink the 100 Year Year Old Cigar ... very unique only had one. Think of a basement poker game room, guys smoking a cigar and the taste of a Scotch, Benedictine and the resins of a cigar mixing. Cool flavor. Try one! Dick Titus Commercial was comfort food to the max! Decadent gravy having shaved prime rib and Swiss cheese layered between grilled sourdough with a side of mashed potato's. We always have a good time in Irish Pubs! This one was great. Enjoy! read more

Service was horrible. Waited forever to be waited on. Waited for food, waited for drinks.... Etc.... Burger was dry and tasted like a cheap frozen burger from the grocery store. Pasta portions were very small. My kid had to get an additional appetizer to be full. Charge an extra 3% if you use a card to pay for your bill. Never going back. read more

I rolled into town with my boss for an engagement and we were hold up (in separate rooms of course) at the Kahler Grand Hotel in downtown Rochester across from the world famous Mayo clinic. Our responsibilities were not going to commence till afternoon so I had time to stroll in the LL or subway level of the buildings and found OBH and decided to give it a go for lunch. One thing I'm noticing about Rochester-it's super clean, really clean and the people are friendly. I'm guessing if you have to spend a ton of time indoors during winter you want both to be part of your everyday experience. Okay back to lunch.... I asked Shelly my server which of the following three I should choose: 1) The Jalapeno Burger 2) The Fish and Chips 3) The Grilled Meatloaf Without even a bit of hesitation she said, the meatloaf. So I went with it. If lunch could be a soft sweater, a comfy pair of sweatpants or a warm blanket on a cold day-this was it-the grilled meatloaf felt like a warm, gentle hug on a cold winter day. A hug so grand, yet so gentle, so affirming and nurturing that you are motivated to take a nap, commit to a mission trip to serve people in need, write a note to your grandparents or poem for your lover. Yes, it's just simply that good. Shelly, my server, was pleasant, friendly and attentive and non-obtrusive. OBH was busy, not packed, and the patrons looked as though they were happy and having good discussions. Those in town to visit the hospital (either patients or kinfolks) you'll be well taken care of at the OBH. I recommend you put the joint on your list. A fair and reasonable price for a great lunch out the door for 25 bucks including tip-in these days is a win. I'm not sure I'll ever be back in downtown Rochester, but if I am I'll stop in for this hug ( I mean lunch.) Peace ya'll. read more

I'm torn. I really really love the mussel appetizer. It's probably one of my favorite things to eat in Rochester; however, we hit a bit of rough patch tonight. First, the service was slower than usual. I had to ask twice for a glass of water. Also, the halibut dish was dry af. Not even a little dry. It was bone dry. The risotto that accompanied it was also pretty bad. It was a huge bummer. I'll probably be back...there is a lot I like about this place....like the seafood chowder and the mussels. I'll probably never order fish from here again. read more

The service was slow. I'm choosing to overlook that as I have not encountered a business that has not had a staffing shortage in the last two years. We had a wonderful dinner last night. Both entrees were excellent along with our app. I usually order the fish and chips, since i really like the pub style fish and chips offered at English pub style restaurants like this one. The last time I was in Rochester, I ordered the fish and chips, and they were good, but not great, a little on the oily side. Other times we were here I have ordered them and they were better. So this time, I wanted to go in a different direction and ordered the stuffed salmon. Our server in the bar said if I was going to order salmon, I really needed to try the pecan encrusted salmon. So based on his recommendation, I went with the pecan encrusted salmon. Wow, so glad our sever recommended it, and I went with it. The crunchy sweet pecans and sauce were outstanding. Wonderful flavors that made the salmon even better. We also ordered the scotch eggs, since I needed a traditional English fix, and my wife ordered the Ruben sandwich. Both were very good. We look forward to our next dining experience here. When we came in, i will admit I was a bit skeptical, since it seemed like they were understaffed, but the food is brought out by other team members, not the server that took the order. That meant the food came out hot. Kudos to the management for this approach. read more

Food and service is fantastic!!! It's a lively fun place. I will definitely be back!!!!!

I ordered the tenderloin steak and the wild rice pilaf with mushrooms it came with was not good. The Guinness gravy on it was extremely strong tasting with this unpleasant taste, which I'm not sure what it was. It didn't really taste like beer but it had a very overpowering flavor of some sort and I could not eat it. The steak itself was adequate. The "full" ciabatta was very small, especially for the price and considering many restaurants give you bread for free. It came with a paltry amount of butter that looked more like the dregs of someone's butter they were done with than the amount that they would actually give you, even if they were being stingy. I know Kerrygold is expensive but it was kind of ridiculous. read more
