For the price and the quantity, I expected it might have been lower quality but everything lookedCaesar Salad amazing. It tasted even better! Especially the Cast Iron Mac N Cheese. It is creamy and comforting with a wonderful contrasting finishing crumb. Then we got beef on top which added a sweet filling protein. I also felt good after eating. While we know this is a brewery, they also serve batch cocktails, instead of a full bar. We started with their version of an old fashioned, which wasn't our first choice but they were actually tasty albeit a bit sweet. Since the weather was below 0, I craved something hot and comforting. I ordered the Beef Stroganoff which was tasty. Included braised local beef, mushrooms, onions, garlic, parmesan, cream sauce, dill, house-made fettuccini, topped with sour cream. The sauce was light so you didn't feel like it weighed you down. My husband ordered the birria tacos. Beef brisket, white onions, mozzarella, cilantro, corn tortilla, green salsa, beef broth, lime Although they were tasty, they were quite greasy. Prices were reasonable. Forger is a staple in the Rochester artisan brewery and food scene. With an excellent selection of brewery beers and a somewhat mediocre selection of any type of bug drink, it is a favorite, not just for the beers, but for the outstanding food. The woodfired pizza is absolutely fabulous - many different flavor profiles to choose from. From sweet and salty to savory and tangy to spicy. Excellent and one of these flavor profiles. Stand out appetizers from my experience are the pile of fries with black garlic aïoli. The fries are crisp. The aïoli is smooth and savory, and there is a lot. Another is the pork belly boa buns. Excellent texture and flavor and can be made vegetarian by switching the pork to mushroom. The varying bowls there also are excellent. The bibimbap bowl, the Kutzky bowl, the winter salmon bowl, and the Lara bowl are all so flavorful and plentiful. When they stay spicy, particularly for the winter salmon bowl, you need to believe them! I like spice so I love it. and in the handheld section, I have never really had nor been with anyone who has had an issue with a single one of these. All of them are outstanding, though for me the regular Cuban is odd as it contains pineapple. However, there are vegan options available on here as well In the regular entrées, the stroganoff, the cast-iron mac & cheese with kimchi and the forager noodles are my very top choices. As far as desserts go, I highly recommend the carrot cake with caramel or the beer crème brûlée. The beer crème brûlée is very unique in that it clearly contains some type of stout, which is very interesting. The only complaint I have here is that the last time that we have these desserts they came out very cold. This has not been my experience in the past nor does it allow for the wonderful experience of having those warm If you'd like unique brew beers and excellent local Foods including vegan or vegetarian this is a great place for you. They also have a coffee house that is open during the day that has wonderful coffee drinks, and treats. I find it very charming and what is called the library area of the restaurant. This is somewhat protected from the sounds of the live music which can be extraordinarily loud. Reviewing as someone who picked up an online order that we brought back to our hotel. The place looked beautiful at night. It was very busy but I still found parking at the adjacent parking lot. There was live music outside which was nice to hear as I went to pick up the order. Taking off one star as there was no clear direction in who I was supposed to talk to or where to go for a pick up order. It was busy so it was awhile before anyone noticed me waiting near the door to even ask where my order was. Taking another star off as the margarita pizza was not as pictured online. I've only been to Forager a couple times since it's a couple hours away from me, but both times I've been have been awesome. I'm not a huge beer drinker but I've enjoyed their sours when I've been able to find them in stores or restaurants. We stopped in based on the online reviews and luscious food pics, and found this place was completely worth the hype. We were seated in a big room adjacent to the bar. It had a cozy hunting lodge with an attitude vibe, with the addition of Christmas decor. I loved the chalk menu signs! My only criticism is that the background music was so loud that it was sometimes hard to hear my husband speak; if that music was turned down a few notches, that would be great. Our server was Amaelie and she took great care of us the entire time. My husband tried two small glasses of beer while I had a large can from local Keepsake Cider (I'm always so happy when a place has good cider available!). We started off with the queso appetizer. I'll be honest, I've become skeptical of queso because all too often it is bland or too watery or not even hot. This queso was great, piping hot with just a touch of spice, the texture thick enough to coat the included chips. The chips were a decent quality, too. We both ended up ordering the birria tacos. This was a phenomenal choice. We both loved these mini tacos--great shredded meat, loads of flavor. The included green sauce was too spicy for me, but my husband loved it! He also ordered fries at the side, and they were quite tasty. The portion was great, too. The fries were a good way to scrape up the last remnants of queso. Was recommended this place for the pizzas. The crust is phenomenal! Overall, the toppings on the 3 pizzas ordered directly from the menu as-is were heavy. The Margherita was pretty good except the balsamic drizzle was too much -- it was still liquidy (not glaze consistency) and resulted in it settling to the bottom of the plate, sogging out the crust. It became too strong, too pungent and couldn't finish that one. In my opinion, this would be an amazing pizza combo without the balsamic. The best one (in my opinion and preference) was the custom-made mushroom pizza. Simple, flavorful, and nothing was overpowering. I have been a fan of Forager's beers for quite some time, and after a couple of visits to their brewery, I'm a big fan of everything else they are doing as well. The space is broken up into a coffeeshop/cafe, taproom/restaurant and a sizeable patio space. Of the menu items I have tried from the restaurant side, the lamb pizza and birria tacos remain the standouts thus far. They make many great beers and you really can't go wrong, though their seltzers and stouts reign supreme for me (many of which you can order in bottles/crowlers to go). One of my favorite places in Rochester to get some good vegan pad thai!! I've gotten the noodles here countless times and they turn out amazing every time! They have a few more vegan options, but the pad thai is my favorite! The decor is very hip and love the plants around the walls. Forager Brewery has a line of beers with the name Humble Forager. Steve and I have had three different beers of theirs over the course of time and we liked them quite a bit. The three we had were fairly sweet but not to the point where it was too much. We had two beers from the Coastal Sunshine and Sunrise series. One was Coastal Sunrise (v1) Blueberry, Maple Syrup, Vanilla, Cinnamon. A pastry sour, this beer did well with all of that complexity with having all of those flavors present themselves without conflicting one another. Since it is a pastry beer it is more on the thick bodied side. Coastal Sunshine (v4) was another sour beer with passionfruit, mango and pink guava. Also a sour beer it is full bodied and smooth. It's also a fairly sweet beer. Probably the beer that we liked best was the Fishing with Horus Stout. We like stouts quite a bit, when we are in the mood for them anyway. Flavors in this stout are coffee, maple, hazelnut and coconut. It's a boozy type of beer which we like to have on occasion and all those flavors are presented well, just like the two sours. We'd love to return and try out more of their beers... perhaps explore more of the dark beers. read more

It all seemed unbalanced and while they used good ingredients, certain flavors overwhelmed instead of complimenting. First off I love the decor, it's like farmhouse chic or a classy Cracker Barrel scheme. There's a beautiful backyard patio that's green and lush. They locally source everything that they can. Our bartender (Haley) was amazing! We ordered five small pours of beers (couple iPas, couple stouts and a sour) and they were all stellar. We ordered the Crunchwrap and the Cuban sandwich. The Cuban had fantastic flavor profile with the garlic aioli, mustard and spicy pineapple relish; I just wish it was pressed like a real Cuban (it needed that crispy texture)... the French fries that came with the sandwich were fresh hand cut but not fried twice (so they were soggy).. Forager is great for many things: beer, pizza, and service. They are a popular spot in Rochester MN and finding parking at peak dinner hours is challenging. They do have two parking lots, so if the small one is full, go down the road a little bit and you'll see a sign for additional Forager parking near the bottle shop and Clover and Rose. I love that they offer their beer in small 5oz tasters, so I can try many different beers. There's something new to try every season. They make great stouts and sours. As for food, I would recommend the pizzas. They're a great size for a hungry person or for two to share. I would pass on the Forager noodles. These are very bland and have more liquid than necessary. This was our second time here and we don't plan to come back, unfortunately. The service was subpar and we sat in the larger seating area (not by the barrels) which gave off a weird vibe. We ordered the house-pulled mozzarella which is comes with sauteed vegetables, herb oil, sea salt and local bread. The vegetables had a smoky flavor but may as well have been raw since they were not actually cooked nor sauteed. The "local bread" included was one piece of bread that we cut into 4 wedges and wasn't enough to eat with the amount of mozzarella. The mozzarella solidified so quickly that it became awkward to eat on our small wedge of bread. For entrees we ordered the pine creek curry with chicken and forager noodles plus a kids macaroni & cheese with pepperoni pizza. The chicken on both dishes had no flavor to combine it with the entrees, just tasted like it was cooked separately with no seasoning and thrown in at the end. The curry dish is spicy (fine by us) which wasn't noted and made it a little tricky to explain to our curry loving toddlers that they couldn't have any. The forager noodles were mediocre at best. The macaroni and cheese was definitely the homemade variety and was fabulous. The pizza was also fabulous with a fun crushed rosemary seasoning on the crust. Had those two things not been so good we would have rated this place less. With two cocktail drinks added to the total our bill was about $100 without tip. Overall we do not plan to go back but do highly recommend the pizza and macaroni & cheese since it was really good! read more

This was a delightful find while visiting Rochester for a wedding. We ate inside due to to the bees but the patio looked lovely. We were thrilled with the cozy interior and local artwork. I have always loved Forager. It's my go-to place for food when in Rochester. I went there for dinner last night and the food was terrible. Inedible. I ordered a relatively simple pizza and what I received was a burnt mess with no flavor whatsoever except for overly salty, dry to the point of being crispy, prosciutto. It was disgusting. I was shocked. The only reason I didn't send it back was because I wasn't in the mood to fuss after a long day at the Mayo. The musician wasn't bad; I wish i could say the same for the food. Went to Forager with some friends for dinner on a Saturday at about 5pm. We were able to be seated right away and though service was a little slow, that's understandable with how busy it was. Everyone was able to grab a drink though and all of the craft beers we ordered were very good. Be sure to ask the server for some of the most popular flavors, that'll help you choose. I ordered the Cuban and my friends got the macaroni and cheese. The Cuban was a little spicy for me but it was too good so I ate it all. I ordered the Hip Hops, the beer wasn't anything special, tasted like a very generic IPA. For food, we started with an appetizer of the queso and tortilla chips, this was really good! For a main entree, I got the big cheese pizza and my partner got the Lara Bowl. Both were just okay. Wouldn't necessarily go here to eat again, price was pretty outrageous for what it was.
