We had a fantastic Wednesday lunch at Two Sisters. Service was perfect from the time we came in the door. We were never left wanting for anything. The whole atmosphere was bright, modern, and welcoming, too, with high ceilings and pleasant spaciousness. We were in a booth with people on either side but didn't feel crowded. My husband had a local beer from SXSE while I had a cranberry hibiscus margarita. The cheese curds appetizer was AWESOME. Great serving size, fresh and squeaky cheese, and good coating. The ranch served alongside tasted fresh like it was house-made, too. My husband loved his meal: custom burger with fries. The bun was even great quality. I had the grilled chicken with toasted quinoa salad. The portion size was massive, and it was a very good mix of flavors and textures. I've never had quinoa toasted in this way before. The baguette piece along with it was great, too. We were too full to order dessert, which was a shame, as they had bread pudding on the menu, one of my favorites. We'll need to come back! read more

Took a short drive to Orinoco from Rochester for diner yesterday. We have eaten here four times in the past couple months and enjoyed each meal! We have explored a number different items on the menu and have a ways to go before we exhaust the options available. They are still navigating wait times delays but they are open about the delays and apologetic for them. Honestly, the waits aren't that noticeable and gives you time to look the menu over and enjoy a beverage! Save room for a piece of chocolate cake! Looking forward our next visit! read more

We were visiting from out of town and we decided to try the variety platter that they offer where you get to choose four options. this was very filling and was more than enough for two people to share. The seasonal vegetable was corn and I could you not it was the most fresh and delicious corn I've ever had in my life. Two Sisters is a good place. I cannot say it is amazing but especially for Minnesota it does offer a kind of comforting vibe. The decor looks great when you walk in is very nice. Looks much higher end than the menu indicates (but not the prices) but I love a high/low experience and this has a bit of that vibe. I'd say high/medium experience. There are some real standouts at this place and some major bummers. Let's just get the bad news over with. Everyone is all about the Hot Dish Flight for $25. I went with five people and each gave a rating for this appetizer. The only real standout was the beef stroganoff. The Tater Tot Hot Dish has an odd, non-traditional Minnesota taste. No cream of mushroom soup as far as any of us could tell but an oddly flavored cream of chicken soup. Almost nacho cheese like. The vegetables in it are maque choux - corn and red and green peppers. Maybe in an alternate world this is our state's most beloved food but we average it to 5.9 out of 10. The Chicken Pot Pie was good, topped with puff pastry and a homey and traditional averaged to a 7. The Tuna Hot Dish was a flop with our group. Things I like:Tuna, potato chips, egg noodles and creamy soup. This hot dish was is apparently these items but not good. Like, at all. The menu says now it's bread crumbs but when we went it was soggy potato chips. The sauce again had a strange flavor- no one could not place it. This averaged a 3 out of 10 in a group of 5. Then the beef stroganoff - the best flavored item in the flight. Creamy, mushroomy, tangy. Traditional. This tasted like a cold winter day snuggled up by a fire. Score was 8.8 though as an entree at $19 using hamburger as the meat seems different but that just because ours has small chunks of long cooked fall apart sirloin. Many other appetizers really shined. Buffalo Cauliflower was excellent. Light crispy batter a a good buffalo sauce. Cheese curds - some of the best in recent memories with that same light, crispy batter - crunchy and perfect cheese pull texture. Firecracker Shrimp - excellent with a great sauce. On to entrees and sides. Greek chicken lemon soup. Missing a lot of acidity. A big deficit if you have ever had good Avgolemono which is the Greek name for the soup. Asked for multiple lemon wedges which really improved the soup. Everything is served with baguette. This is not outstanding baguette. It was very light in color and pretty tough. This soup got a combined 7.3 AFTER the major lemon addition.Bread got a 5.4. Beef stroganoff chosen due to excellence in the flight as described above. Score of 8.8. Cubano, Italian Chopped Sandwich and Bbq Sliders sandwiches absolutely not worth $19. The grilled cheese was a joke at $13. Combined score of of 5 based on value alone. Now the tater tots as a side - amazing. Crisp and fluffy, perfect salt. Just excellent. Worth every cent. Again, a side that knocked it out of the park was the Crispy Smashed Potatoes. Crunchy, creamy, salty, tart. Truly a great side. These sides saved these entrees from a much lower score. Desserts - now here they shone brightly. We had BISCOFF Cheesecake that was amazing. We all had just a bit because we were full but it was like the heavens open and BISCOFF angels descended. Creamy, full of the speculoos flavor, great texture. 9.4 out of 10. I will return to see where they are at, but based on experience so far I feel the steak entrees will likely not be a good value in the low to upper mid $40 range but with the right sides, maybe I'll feel different I want to give a 3.7 but can't so rounding up to a 4. Food was exceptional. Service was great. Hosts did amazing amid the chaos and kept professional. The only complaint was the 45 min wait even though we had a reservation. First time so felt compelled to share From the moment I walked in we greeted with genuine kindness even though we came 15 min before kitchen closing and didn't realize it. They were more than happy to still sit us and serve us dinner. The atmosphere was very relaxing, the server was attentive without being overbearing--one of those rare moments where it felt like we could just enjoy the time and food. Now, the food. Every single dish was a highlight. We chose the tater tot hot dish sampler which was the perfect option since I've never had anything like it before! Was the perfect comfort food for the weather outside. Service was atrocious. We arrived for breakfast and the restaurant was fairly empty. We order a Chai latte with almond milk. They brought us black coffee. When the Chai arrived we asked if it was almond milk milk. They said no, let with the cup and returned less than a minute later with what was supposed to be almond milk milk. It was not which we found out later when my wife who is lactose intolerant had a reaction. We order our food and more than 40 minutes later, tables around us, who had been seated at least 15 minutes after we had, started receiving their food. We waited for another 10 minutes and then decided to leave. We asked for our bill to pay for the coffee and were offered a to go bag with no indication that our food was even ready. The server then went to get the bill and started mocking us. Not a very pleasant experience at all. read more

This place is very cute. I went here with my mother in law for lunch. They have a pretty good tea selection as well as coffees and other specialty lattes. We had the tea. For lunch my mother in law had the soup of the day and I chose the Mediterranean salad which was huge!! Be prepared to bring home leftovers. It was really good though and was still tasty the next day. We also tried the cheese curds which of course are always delicious! We sat in a booth and it wasn't super busy on a Thursday at noon so we were seated immediately and our server was on top of things! I've only been here once and would be willing to go again. However, I did have both positive and negative aspects during our visit so it may be a bit. My wife and I went for dinner a couple of weekends ago. We both ordered drinks. I forgot the names of the drinks but I do know one was very refreshing while the other was too strong. We talked with our server and she got us a new one right away. Yet, the same problem so I think it was the drink itself. And this is coming from someone who doesn't mind a stiff drink. As for the food, we got the cubano and chicken pot pie hot dish. The cubano and fries were delicious and would recommend. The chicken pot pie was good but didn't seem to have a ton of chicken in it. Our service was really good as we weren't in a hurry to leave. I do need to mention though that while checking out the cafe before using the restroom, I found our server among many other staff members in the cafe and she said "I'm sorry I've been distracted and forgot about you". Had she not said this, I would've thought nothing of the it. Overall, it's a beautiful space with a fun drink and food menu. I hope this local restaurant sticks around. read more

Met three friends here - each coming from a different location. The atmosphere is very nice. We had a reservation and I was seated quickly and placed my beverage order while I waited for the others to arrive. Beverage orders were quickly taken when each person arrived but service after that was slow. After waiting for at least 30 min after the last friend arrived we had to wave the waitress down to let her know we were ready to order. Once we ordered it took a long time to receive our food. When the food arrived it was okay. The food was served in large bowls which was a little odd since the food was not "bowl" food. I had the ham & cheese omlet which was flat and very brown. The ham was sliced deli ham not real ham. I was expecting a fluffy, delicious omlet, what I received was a mostly tasteless omlet the quality that you would expect from a struggling Perkins. My cheesy potatoes were lukewarm. Our waitress was very pleasant but overall I found the staff unwelcoming. Not the younger waiters/waitresses but what I presume were the older management people. Went in for the Minnesota Hotdish menu to see what I missed after moving back after 27 years. Ordered the beef stroganoff and it had zero taste. Was on a plate the size of a coffee saucer and the cooks looked like they were 20 years old and had never cooked American cuisine. I've eaten here 3 times before to try stuff like the brisket and the shrimp appetizer along with the chicken fingers and something else. All the food was extremely average and probably wouldn't survive in a major city. Nice building and music in bar but the food leaves much to be desired. I've talked to 3 other families that have eaten there on numerous occasions and they won't be going back either. Invest in a real chef please not some questionable young ones on the grill. I would also like to add your wait staff is very neutral and not warm and welcoming. Teenage kids just looking for a tip who showed no interest in working there. read more

I'll start with the ambiance. The bar is beautiful. I was immediately greeted by the host, but since I was alone I sat at the bar. I love a good Old Fashioned, and even better if they're smoked. Marie, the bartender is a master. Very nicely balanced, and even the other patrons enjoyed the smoke. It was cold outside, so comfort food was in order. I took a run at the Tater Tot hot dish. Had breakfast at the bar to avoid the noise of large families with small children dining throughout on a Sunday morning. I had yogurt, fruit & granola. Would have preferred plain yogurt to the store-bought fake vanilla flavor. Fruit mixture was lovely but granola did not seem hand made and was clumped together. Expected fresh made granola with nuts, oats and seeds. Husband had pancakes that were fine. Pancakes were supposed to come with fruit on top--that never happened. Bartender mentioned something about leveling up to some sort of elevated Bloody Mary but it was not clear so my husband just had the regular one. The restaurant is very nice. Our server was very young and didn't know ow the menu. She took our order wrong. Another woman told her to comp 1 beer. She never did. The hot dishes are a joke and not even hot dishes. They are just heated up filling put in a cold bowl with a topping. They aren't even baked. Our pot pie was cold, had uncooked potatoes and the puffpastry on top was cold and just turned into a crumbly mess. The burgers were ok, average at best. Our cheese curds were decent but half of them were melted out of the batter. Not sure if there was a Manager. I think one of the owners was there but she just stayed in the back talking. Looks like a bunch of kids runs the place.we will wait until they get things together before going back. read more

A most amazing experience in dining. My wife and I joined friends for lunch at this new restuarant and were blown away. The service was incredible, the waitress (Olivea) was a gem and the food was superb. We had cheese curds for an appetizer, large generous portion and excellent flavor. When we moved on to the enter, the hot dish flight caught our attention. 4 servings of chicken pot pie, tater tot, tuna and stroganoff. Generous enough for 2 people to share and it was scrumptious. We barely had room for desert, so we created our own flight of their 3 cheesecakes and, and once again, portions were so generous that we easily shared them with our friends. Beautiful and quaint restaurant. Staff is friendly, but are not attentive and have to be asked several times to refill water cups. The food also has quite a ways to go. A few friends and I went in for happy hour. Beer here is a great deal. The buffalo cauliflower was unfortunately over-fried (not light and crispy), dry, and slightly flavorless. Cheddar and broccoli soup was very watery, and when you order a "baguette", a ~4 inch piece of "baguette" is given. I will say the food of neighboring tables did look good. We have been to here two nights in a row. The first night was appetizers, signature cocktails and dessert. The hummus flight and firecracker shrimp was delightful and the Cajun chicken wings were cooked and seasoned perfectly. Great cocktails and delicious cheesecake and carrot cake. The second night was scrumptious Brazilian cheese balls with firecracker shrimp. The coleslaw was different each night but equally delicious. We had the stroganoff, and chicken pot pie which were both very good. Our companions had the Mediterranean salad and chopped Italian sandwich which they raved over. The service has been good and our waitresses attentive. The food has arrived timely and the food is delicious and consistent. Drive to Oronoco and give it a try. You won't be disappointed. Looking for a new stop when coming back from Mayo and I discovered Two Sisters. The restaurant and bar are beautiful and spacious and nicely appointed with natural light. I understand it has only been open about a month so the service was a little slow but it was worth the wait. I had the Chicken Pot Pie Hot Dish, which is like a deconstructed pot pie with the chicken and vegetables in a swallow bowl and a large square filo pastry on top. It was served with a light salad and baguette. It was delicious. The outside dinning area looked very nice but not available on a chilly October day. I was impressed and wish them well. read more
