We hit happy hour at 2 which was a pleasant surprise! The spud balls were good, but we were looking for a little more flavor. Maybe some cheese?! The honey siracha, buffalo, and ranch were all good with the boneless wings. The grizzly burger was good and the fries were great! read more

First time to this establishment, ordered a pepperoni cream cheese pizza to go. Super friendly staff greeted me on arrival, and the service was quick. Pizza looked great and was still hot when I got back into NW Rochester. Overall, the flavor was just bland and tasted almost like a frozen pizza with a little thicker of a crust. Maybe the addition of some Italian herbs/seasonings would have made things taste a little better? Also it would have been nice for a little more cream cheese ratio throughout each slice. I would still be up for giving them another try sometime in the future with other menu items. read more

If you've ever been to a small town sports bar and grill then you've already been to The Bear's Den, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. Typically they are a friendly environment with reasonable prices and consistent with good, but not great food. This is also the case here. They have several choices on the lunch menu for only $7. I ordered traditional wings and tater tots. The tots were perfect, with the proper amount of crunch. The six wings were large and the spicy mango coating was good, but the skin had no crunch and the meat was a little rubbery. The person I was there with had a half sandwich of turkey with cranberry mayo and mashed potatoes and gravy. The sandwich was thick and the only negative comment was that the gravy was too salty. Overall I was pleased. The service and prices were good and the food was fine. They have a good variety of tap beer, and a bear greets you outside the entrance. read more

4 stars for atmosphere here. We came during a Vikings game and the patrons and staff are awesome! I would come back for the environment alone! We got the wings, the texture of the wing was weird to me. Not crispy at all, a little rubbery. The wing flavor was alright but nothing special. We ate there Saturday afternoon for lunch. Hubby had the club sandwich with french fries and I had the chicken tenders sandwich with fries. In my personal opinion the chicken tender sandwich was horrible. This sandwich had no taste / flavor and is terribly dry. The sandwich is served on Texas toast with 2 strips of bacon, 2 slices of cheese and 2 chicken strips. My husband's club sandwich was very good. That's the only reason I'm giving it 3 stars. It is a clean restaurant and seemed fairly busy for Saturday afternoon. Food prices are average for the area. I can not comment on prices of cocktail or beer. I enjoy going to the bears den because the food is always good and the servers are always nice. I enjoy the south west wrap. In fact if they ever take it off their menu I would be really disappointed. I love their fries because they are thick which also means you don't need a ton of them. Their cheese curds are the best I've had. They have a good beer selection. read more

I am a local and have mixed views of this place. I never take issue with the food or atmosphere it is always the service that is hit or miss. Smoking cigarettes on the outside patio appears to be more important than making sure customers are happy. The poor service has become more prevalent as of late. read more

Was disappointed in the Grizzley Burger. 1/2 pound burger (didn't seem like it), parmesan-crusted sourdough (sourdough yes...parmesan-crusted?) and topped with Pepper jack cheese, grilled onions, jalapenos and bacon (all seemed sparsely added). Stopped here on a Saturday between kids baseball tourney games. Service was a little slow but they were not staffed for the number of customers that walked in. They did a good job providing service and treated our group well. Food was average. We had the boneless chicken wings BBQ and Teriyaki which were fine. NO HYGIENE!!! One of the waitresses was coughing 20+ times in the dining room and kitchen while walking, carrying food, and at the salad prep etc. Not once covered her mouth. She basically was coughing onto the food when carrying it. Honestly I was so disgusted. If that wasn't off putting enough, we sat by the kitchen and saw the servers dropping off the dirty cups/dishes into the bus tubs;our personal server touched the straws and rims of the cups and forks etc and came right back out into the dining room as well as handled food thereafter both at the window and the salad prep. This is obviously not code. All of the servers were handling dirty dishes then food/salad prep/sides and other peoples beverages and food with out washing their hands. To top it all off I watched both our server and the coughing waitress, as well as the presumed manager handle the garbage/garbage bags/and cans then not wash their hands proceeding to handle food/beverages/sides. As the cherry on top there was a hair in our appetizer. Shit happens, yes its gross but whatever, I'm actually angry because our server didn't apologize for the experience or say anything what so ever. She just took the plate silently and brought it back to the kitchen. The presumed manager apologized and told us the food was on the house, this was of course the appropriate thing to do. Our server didn't check on us at ALL after that. She said goodbye and that was it!! Classy. We would of course had rather just had a non disgusting experience with basic common courtesy. The Bears Den-Located in the Town Of Byron( 8 miles from downtown Rochester) The Bears Den, the name says it all, a small eat in area with a large bar that has the small home town feel. Looking for a quick good burger or chicken sandwich this place is it. Although their menu is broad it might be just a little to much hometown feel where most Places try to have a romantic Setting The Bears Den Is All About What They Want. As I ate my Peanut Butter Burger (They use chunky not creamy) and enjoyed the Twins game I saw the backroom staff was young and unexperienced. I have to say that the atmosphere in the bar area is fun and ubeat although it is an older crowd. They do have a assortment Of Hdtv's to enjoy Your Favorite Sports Game and A Daily Drink Special Whcih Is Fairly priced.
