I always get takeout from here and the food hits every single time! Their menu is always made well and not too simple. My favorite thing to get here is the avocado turkey bacon melt (not in the picture but I wanted to try something different). Never ate inside before but I definitely recommend this place even tho it's a bit more pricey than a fast-food joint but it's worth it. read more

Beetles Bar & Grill - Sports Bars Near Me - Rochester, Minnesota

I met with friends while visiting Rochester. It's always a nice time in this local pub. I didn't eat but enjoy a terrific beverage. It's always clean and comfortable. read more

Very solid food, my favorites are: avocado turkey sandwich (with the cranberry sauce) The boneless wings (so juicy) Great local spot for a casual meal and drink! read more

Walked in the other day while 3 women were leaving and making racist remarks against Asians like "me love you long time" to the waitstaff. I was just looking for a place to grab a quick bite to eat, but if this is the kind of stuff they tolerate, it just wasn't worth it. I don't want to be in that kind of environment, so will not be returning. read more

Nice experience; good service with better than average food for this type of bar/restaurant. I definitely plan on returning to I try some new/different menu items. read more

We did a birthday celebration here, so quite a variety of food was ordered. Queso and chips was meh. More pico than cheese. The cheese curds were average. Entrees got mixed reviews. No standouts. The Reuben, stir fry, burgers, broasted chicken, and steak were tasty, but unsatisfying. The steak was ordered medium and delivered medium rare. All the burgers appeared to be on the rare side. Nine people and a toddler, all told, just shy of $300, with tip. Service was good, attentive. It has the neighborhood bar feel. Would we go again? Sure, but almost everyone would order something different. read more

If your prices continue to rise, so does our expectations. I made the mistake of ordering the buffalo chicken wrap. The chicken was very tough and stringy so I didn't finish that. Makes me question how fresh your chicken really is after reading other reviews. read more

I'm so happy we just so happened to find this little hole in the wall bar and grill because they have such a great selection of food and the service is outstanding! We tried this place twice and both times everything has been delicious! And the soup has been, fresh, HOT, & made from scratch delicious!!! They also have pull tabs if you're into that thing and fresh hot popcorn going at night....who doesn't love that?!?! Give it a shot, their menu is large enough where there's enough you'll find something! Oh, and I could even order a side of cheese sauce for my fries for dipping!!!!! Enough said! read more

Ordered a pick up order for myself and coworkers and was very sadly disappointed. One person ordered cheese curds that had no cheese inside. Not sure if whoever was making them didn't realize that all of the cheese oozed out, but definitely the most disappointing cheese curds we've ever had. I ordered a stack house wrap that was seemingly thrown together. This is usually a great local spot to get food, but lately the food has been disappointing to say the least. read more

Beetles is our go to for great take out food when we are visiting our elderly mother that is in love with their "Rachael" sandwich. We love the turkey/bacon/avocado sandwich on cranberry bread. I have also had good burgers and salads there too. read more

While visiting the Mayo Clinic we were looking for a casual place to eat and something other than a burger. Settled on Beetles for one of their salads. We were not disappointed. Large serving and tasty. Wait staff was friendly and efficient. read more

It has been years since I've been to this restaurant and nothing has changed. I had the southwest chicken salad which could have been delicious. However, the chicken was so tough. I couldn't cut it with a saw let alone the knife they provided. Mixed greens would have been nice in the salad however it was just iceberg lettuce. Our bill came to $65.14, the waiter asked us if we needed change out of the $100.15 that I gave him. Then he brought me back the improper change. I don't think he wanted to be there. He was not attentive whatsoever. We had to flag him down for everything that we needed including drinks and our meal order. It will probably be years before I go again. read more

We were stuck in Rochester over New Year's, due to appointments at Mayo and my mom didn't feel like leaving the hotel room due to her pain. I thought broasted chicken (on of her favorites) might make her feel better. I recognize that carry out is usually not as good as eat-in and the chicken was okay. Avoid the mashed potatoes. They ware instant mashed potatoes with overly salty, canned gravy. I was disappointed there was not a veggie with the chicken or anything but one side. The Pepsi was out so I had to make another stop to pick up Mom's drink. By the time I got back to the hotel, we had to microwave everything. I think we will pass on Beetles next time. read more

We went to Beetles Bar on Saturday evening and ordered the chicken and it was just like it was before the covid perfect. We have been disappointed with most of the eating places since the pandemic but We were very pleased with the food and the service. We had a nice young man named Samuel and he did a great job. read more

Nice neighborhood bar/ grill, quiet place to have a good Cobb salad and a beer. Liked their walleye apps but it was quite large

Absolutely LOVE this place. Great food, quick personal service. Highly recommend! We bring a group of a dozen or so every Thursday evening and Natalie is awesome. read more

We've always had good food here before, but today I ordered the hot turkey sandwich. The sandwich was fine, but the mashed potatoes were potato flakes not real potatoes and the "gravy" was colored water. Ugh! read more

My husband and I have been here a few times over the years, but I think this was probably our last visit. The place was packed, and they were busy, but the first impression was how dirty the floor looked with popcorn all over the place, also a few napkins. I ordered a Guinness on tap and the $12 (!) Walleye sandwich. I opted for broiled over fried walleye. The beer was flat and the sandwich came as a pale unseasoned piece of fish on an open hoagie bun. No lettuce or tomato. There were three pickle slices cowering underneath the bun on the plate. Came with a small tub of lemony "tartar sauce" which was not very good. My husband ordered the walleye wrap, which looked a little more substantial, but still nothing to write home about. We both "upgraded" to a "premium" side of a garden salad- they were pretty good but the dressings were not. And why, in the land of the Mayo Clinic, is a salad not a standard side? It's a healthier choice than the usual fries, tots, etc. read more

Service was great! Jennifer and autumn did a great job. Ordered boneless chicken wings which were more like nuggets. Flavor was good but tough. Onion rings were tops! Thanks, Lue and Rick wood 507-208-0919 rickwood1945@gmail.com read more

So irritated. I am a local and for the last few years I get a meal from here every once and a while and this last time im just disappointed more then ever before. I ordered a Buffalo chicken sandwich which was way more expensive then it should be. $12. And I upgraded to tots. So my box has 2 buns a peice of half cooked chicken with half ass rubbed on Buffalo sauce. And hand full in a half of tots. Like for real. Not even lettuce or anything else. For that price I could of gone to the store grabbed a bag of chicken and buns and made it myself. This place really needs to put some better meals on the table for the price it's asking or fix the prices. The chicken meals are ok for the price. I know the owner just needs to put his ass into gear and fix this place up. read more

Ate here for dinner with my family. We all had an overall great experience. Here are a couple takeaways: The patty melt was very good. I've had it a couple times now and it (as well as the fries) are great. Their boneless chicken wings were good, but definitely different from traditional boneless wings. They looked essentially like cut-up pieces of chicken breasts..so in that regard they were definitely big, juicy wings. I think they could have used more batter to help retain/soak up the sauce flavors though. If they did this, I think they would be exceptional. My wife had the fried egg burger which she liked but wished the egg was more runny (the egg was a little done). A small complaint for an otherwise good burger. Brother in law stuck with his favorite open-faced turkey sandwich which he enjoys. Kids didn't complain with their traditional kids-meal choices. The prices were very reasonable. I thought the wings (on paper) seemed expensive at over $1/wing until I saw how big they were. Waitress was extremely nice and took great care of us. The staff as well as the patrons were composed of all ages, so feel free to take your entire family there and be treated to a good time. read more

While I've lived in Rochester my entire 65 years, I'd never gone here until Newts North seemed to be taken over by millennials that appear to be there to collect the paycheck, nothing more. That said, service has never been an issue at Beetles! The appetizers have all been very good! My personal favorite is the onion rings, always crunchy and delicious. Entrees, unfortunately, have been a recurring disappointment! My first burger was on, just ok. They have one with an over easy egg on it, thought I'd take a run at that. Apparently the cook didn't think the steer wasn't dead enough as the burger was so burnt and dry I couldn't even chew it, and yes I have all my original teeth! Two weeks ago I had the hot ham and cheese. That was decent, but how can you possibly screw that up? Today was the last straw. Tried the chicken cordon bleu sandwich, which is basically the ham and cheese with a chicken breast thrown on. The chicken was so thick I couldn't get my mouth around it, and so dry and gristly it was impossible to eat, and flavor wise, blah. They really need to take more time prepping, pounding down and marinating chicken breast to tenderize, infuse flavor, and just make it edible. Wild Bills is a half mile away. Head and shoulders above Beetles! read more

Perfect evening to sit outside and have a beer and some quesadillas. It was later at night on a week night so there really weren't many people on the patio which was night. The Surly IPA was good and cold, the quesadillas were perfect and just the right amount of spicy and the waiter was great and attentive. Definitely perfect hang-out spot. read more

Beetles Bar & Grill - Sports Bars Near Me - Rochester, Minnesota

Went to Beetles to pick up our take out order and was shocked by the flagrant disregard of staff and customers following the COVID restrictions. One of the bartenders did not wear a mask, there was no social distancing, and most of the customers were seated around the bar close to one another unmasked, drinking as if there wasn't a pandemic in place. To top it all off - out broasted chicken was over cooked and the service sucked. read more

First walked in late at night and was greeted warmly by the staff. After ordering, 2 patrons sat next to me so I struck up a conversation as I like to do. The 2 were very friendly and shared good stories throughout the night. As the good times rolled, one of the patrons revealed they were the owner, by the name of Beetle. Down to earth and genuinely good people to be around. Love this place and will recommend to anyone looking for a good spot to be as you are. read more

Broasted chicken is one point! Free popcorn is a nice little perk as well while you're waiting for your food to arrive. Place was packed and service was great. Chairs and tables seemed cheap and were not in the best working order. Overall they deliver on food and service which are the two main hurdles. Love this place read more

We come to Rochester frequently and like to try different restaurants in the area. We heard about Beetles and wanted to try it. They had popcorn before our meal, which was really good! I had the broasted chicken. It was good as well. It is definitely a place we will return to! read more

Cool place to chill and relax. You get free popcorn beforehand. The wraps are very good.

Great food and service. Good was tasty, quick and had lots of options. Would recommend and come back!

Food was great staff was friendly highly recommend to anyone. Great place to watch a game or just relax and have a beer.

Their potato mountain was big enough for 2, and good despite the fact i wanted cheese curds at first. Mom had veto power and I'm glad i got the mountain. read more

On a Wednesday, brought a crowd of about twenty in for happy hour after telling the owner there might be a dozen. As the place started to fill, he reprimanded me, telling me we had too many people and there were no tables for his regulars. Just the same, we were spending good money, but he ruined the fun atmosphere. He lost a bunch of customers because of his scolding us. We are spreading the word. read more

I'll say upfront that I do plan to go back sometime that isn't a Friday night during Happy Hour. Went on a Friday night due to the gang at work having a Happy Hour get together. First of all, the parking lot is far too small. There was nowhere to park in the lot or for about three blocks up the street. Parked across the busy street and had to risk becoming roadkill (no crosswalk for blocks) to get there. Once there, there was no place to sit. The person who had arranged this had called early in the week to make a reservation for 40 at 4:00. "20 at 4:30" chirped the reservation-taker. "No, 40 @ 4:00" replied the reservation-maker. "Mmmm, okie" chirped the reservation-taker who apparently stuck with her first statement because there was nowhere near enough tables reserved and any time the group tried to grab a table as it opened up they were chastised by the waitstaff. To be fair, the place was PACKED. However, it was several minutes before our drink order was taken, we were never offered a menu, let alone food (though others in the party were eating food... and it looked delicious..but this was not our night to find out). The drink prices were reasonable. We had to hunt down the waitress to pay. I gave her more than a decent tip so in case we ever go back we won't get an automatic "oh, you were with the big party who had $300 worth of food/beverages and all I got was a $5 tip" snub. I'll go back another time, to give it a fair chance, but am honestly not expecting anything too great. A parking spot in the same ZIP code would be nice, though. read more

Disclaimer: the review is based on the food, not the bar. I don't understand this place. I don't understand why it's always SO PACKED. And the reason I know this is not because I am a frequent patron of Beetles; it's because I use the dry cleaner over there. Anyway... was not impressed. The food is average at best. If I'm sitting around wondering where I should go for some decent bar food, Beetles would not be in my top 7 (and this is Rochester...) It's average and I don't remember it being a particularly great deal. And everyone eating there was over 60... I felt like a little kid. read more

Forget Newt's. These guys have the best burger in Rochester. A fresh patty cooked on open flame. Ignore all the toppings and whatnot, I'm talking about the burger itself. I don't go here much, but anytime someone wants to go out for burgers or asks me where's a good burger - its Beetles. read more
