Pickles & popcorn are the highlights! Wouldn't have thought that would be the best part of the meal lol. The pickles have the zing to the zang The burgers were just good not great- unfortunately the reviews i read didn't seem to line up to our burgers. Flavors were good on the toppings of the burger but the burger itself wasn't juicy (and yes i know they are smash burgers but I've had juicy smash burgers before).

The ambiance is very chill, almost divey. Free popcorn, and a place for kids to run around. Lots of TVs if you want to look around. I thought it was great. The people were very pleasant and the burger was also great! We split fries and the kids love this place!

Mr. Lebowski burger (vegan) with no tomatoes and added vegan bacon, plus a side of "seasoned" fries

I really appreciate the number of vegan options on the menu, and the fact that you can do a full burger joint experience (burger, fries, and shake) vegan! As a vegetarian with an egg allergy, vegan options are often the safest for me. I got the Mr. Lebowski and added vegan bacon (and subtracted tomatoes) and a side of "seasoned" fries, and split the substantially sized chocolate shake with my husband, which seems like the way to go (it was a lot more than I was expecting, and is very, very sweet on top of being luxuriously thick). The fries are normal shoestrings with some seasoning lightly sprinkled over them, which was slightly disappointing, but not bad. My husband wasn't that hungry and just got some sides to go with the shake, and I got to try the broccoli, which we both enjoyed (but he kept the sweet potato fries to himself, LOL, so I assume they're pretty good). The location itself has a definite bar feel, and there is an outdoor "beer garden" area as well. The TVs don't have closed captioning (which might have been nice, as one of them had the Paris Olympics playing), and the music is rather loud (may consider take out next time we're in town and coming here), but the waitstaff is pretty nice and I appreciate the kiosk ordering system.

Hot chips is a great place to visit and have a wonderful burger, best fries ever, and superb onion rings. This is our second visit here and it is hands down a fantastic burger joint with burgers that actually taste like burgers and not condiments. The fries and tater tots are the best we've had. Try this meeting place for a wonderful experience and easy going outdoor seating area or sit inside!

The burgers here are amazing. You can build your own, or pick from a delicious selection on the menu. They also have a good variety of sides to add to your order. We love coming here in the summer to enjoy our meal on their outdoor patio. This is definitely our go-to place for a good burger in southern Minnesota.

Second time being here (live an hour away) and wanted to try another new burger, this thing was a monster. Wasn't sure how to eat it so just dug in. About half way through I switched to a fork and finished it off, onions rings were solid too.

I have flagged visiting Hot Chip Burger Bar for a while. On my last trip, I was fortunate to stop by Rochester a few times. On a Saturday afternoon, I dropped by for lunch. Hot Chip Burger Bar is located across from Trader Joe's, in the same large plaza. I had no problem finding a parking spot and backed into one. I walked in and it was busy. I looked over to my right and there was a Pac-man arcade game. I knew that I would love this place. A man greeted me. He asked if I was okay sitting at the bar. There wasn't a free table, so I went for it. I like when the bar area has hooks for your purses under the table. I knotted my crossbody's strap and used the hook to safely stow my purse as I ate. You get popcorn in a small plastic bowl as a starter. It was my second clue that I'd love this place. I love popcorn. It was freshly popped and delicious. I sat close to the theatre-style popcorn maker. Deadly! I resisted going over there to get seconds. The eatery has vegan options, from meatless burgers, to shakes. I was impressed. I ordered a Diet Pepsi. I was thirsty and loved how cold this beverage was. My server was extremely attentive and got me a refill roughly halfway through my meal. I looked at the chef's special on the menu and it was the poutine in my mouth burger. I had to have it to see how great the poutine part was. It makes sense for the Canadian to check out, right? I also got sweet potato tater tots. I love tater tots, but I've never had sweet potato ones before. It didn't take long for my order to arrive. I loved that I didn't get massive portions. They are made for normal human beings! I had a bite of my poutine in my mouth burger. OMG! Delicious! If I weren't in Rochester, this burger would pass as being a Canadian twist on a yummy burger. It had a four-ounce grass-fed beef patty, fries, gravy, cheese curds, mayo, and ketchup, all between a sliced, toasted egg bun. It was heavenly! The beef patty was juicy and seasoned nicely. It was cooked through, which I appreciated. The fries, gravy, and cheese curds were indeed as if you were consuming a mini poutine in every bite. The curds were likely from Wisconsin, which is a benefit of being next door to this state. The bun was perfectly toasted and soft. The sweet potato tater tots. You must get them. They were addictive and yummy. They were crispy on the outside, and naturally sweet and creamy on the inside. I still dream about them. If you like the 80's, the decor will make you happy. From seeing a Karate Kid poster on the wall, to Madonna's eyes touched up from her Express Yourself video to be cross-eyed on the women's washroom door, you'll love this place. The women's washroom was clean. There were well wishes written on the walls. Cool! When you come out of the washroom, there are a number of clocks on the wall. Winnipeg was nicely represented. I paid with a credit card. The transaction was seamless. I keep saying that when I lived it Rochester, it didn't have cool places. I moved away and it does, like Hot Chip Burger Bar. I'm glad that this place exists. Rochester is better for it. I had excellent food and a great experience. I'd return again for a casual, decent meal and my nostalgia fix. (139)

This place was so fun! One of the order from QR CODE via phone, enter table number and the food is delivered to your table. Ambiance was a bit loud even though it was not very busy. We sat at a table and the QR codes were not working. They do have a kiosk to order from which is what we did. The food was really good and they have boozy shakes! So of course I had to try one. So delicious.

I travel to Rochester to visit family on a semi-regular basis, so I thought I'd give this place a try. It was a slower Saturday night, so it was easy to grab a seat at the bar. The beer selection was good and reasonably priced. Service was speedy and delivered with a smile. Moving to the meal, I chose the "Dude" burger with a small 9-to-5 side salad. The burger was good, but maybe not what I was expecting taste-wise. The salad was good and the used fried chickpeas to give it a crunch. Overall, I will likely give Hot Chip another try but with a different choice of burgers.

This is the best burger I've had in a long time, if not forever. Wow. I ordered the Classic #1 with a side of fries (they come seasoned). It comes with cheese, pickles, onions and WOW. This burger was so hecking good. I ate the whole thing even though I was super full. I also got a boozy shake (the one with vanilla and amaretto). It was very very good and would absolutely get it again. But that burger... I'm going to be thinking about that burger for a long time.

Andrew was completely rude and had a horrible attitude the whole time. Not only did he appear to be completely bothered to be working, but you could tell something made him upset and he clearly chose to take it out on us this night. It was very unfortunate as it made us very uncomfortable and turned the whole experience into a negative one. I asked a question about an item on the desert menu since it wasn't listed and he responded with "what I mentioned earlier....." and paused as if I was going to magically remember what flavors he had said until he eventually repeated the options to me. My husband caught his tone and immediately was upset after this. Also a fruit fly had flown into my friends drink which is not only gross but not our fault and when asking if he could have at least that dumped out and the same amount poured into it since it was on ice he said well that's basically water now and then said but okay sure whatever and walked away. As someone who has worked in the customer service industry I would have been absolutely mortified to speak to people this way and then to return to the table and show my face again. It was very disappointing. We wanted to speak to a manager but also wanted to get out as fast as we could as well. However we did keep the receipt to make sure we had his name. I hope he is okay because clearly something was making him very sour. Poor guy. I DO NOT recommend.

We found the five course tasting menu to be interesting, but neither my wife nor I found the food to be delicious or memorable. Quality ingredients were top notch and the preparation and plating excellent, but we just didn't care for the flavors or combinations that came out. We expect when we get a tasting menu to have a few dishes that might miss the mark for us -- that's sort of the point. You're exploring the chef's ideas and dishes. It's strange when none of the dishes really hit with our palates and we travel all over the world in search of amazing food and dining experiences. To make matters somewhat worse, we did the wine pairing and oftentimes with the courses we found the wine did not pair incredibly well with the plates. Further, when the wine was served we never saw a bottle once and were never told about the winery, the vintage, etc. -- only the type of wine it was and what flavors we could expect. We've never had that before with a wine pairing. We encourage the chef to continue to explore his palate, creativity, and imagination and we look forward to the possibility of coming back again some time in the future to see how this chef and menu may have evolved.

They had a layer of creamy coleslaw slaw dressing and a layer of corn salsa between the meet and the wonton. Since these were open-faced wantons this was important to keep the balance of each each Wonton 's flavors just right. Oh! The red sauce the meat was in was Kung-Fi Sauce. It was very flavored so in that sense spicy and for me any more of whatever brought the heat might be too much, but this certainly was Master sauce. Steak Fries was the other appetizer. A play on words. French Fries ... extra long, well fried to hold up to the steak toppings and not at all oily. In addition to steak there was guacamole, and another sauce. Huh, I was so dazzled by the excellent steak I can't think of the other ingredients beyond guacamole..
