I really like Poquitos as a place to drink Margaritas and eat chips and dip with friends. I'm particular to salsa because I love tomatoes and dislike avocado, but the guacamole looks like it may be good. I've tried their ceviche and brisket tacos, and while I love that they care about their meat source, the food wasn't very flavorful or interesting. I tried squeezing a lime over the ceviche to give it more flavor, and still wasn't satisfied after that. It probably didn't help that the ceviche had avocado bits and I dislike avocados, but I made the mistake of not telling then that, so I didn't ask them to re-do it. In the future, I'll probably just stick to drinks, salsa, and chips. Seems safer and cheaper. read more

Fast service, great food, and able to accommodate a large party as a special request.

YUMMM love their house sauce.. not sure whats in it but it was so delicious! i wanted to put a bottle in my purse - too bad i didnt have a purse on me ;) Their margaritas are delicious also... jalapeno margarita! yummm... as well as their chips and salsa - guacamole. i had the sizzling shrimp which came in a little clay pot - sizzling hot and lots of great flavors.. juicy and plump.. also accompanied by rice and beans...Love the ambiance here..despite the rain -- the indoor/outdoor seating with the fire pits were nice and cozy.. read more

I love Poquitos!! Their fireplace cultivates an amazing vibe and they have great food and creative margaritas! The only thing I would have changed would be that my bf's steak fajitas didn't seem like they had been seasoned at all, but that may have been a mistake! Everything else was fantastic! read more

If you want to brave this location on a weekend then may the luck of whatever be with you! We went there last night and had dinner. We got there around 6:30 and it was so impossibly packed. Lucky for us, we got a table in the bar (it's first come first served) and were seated quickly. The server arrived and took our order so fast. We got chips, queso and the salsa options! We both ordered variations of their enchiladas (roja was mine with the red!) they arrived almost minutes after we had ordered with chicken. The food was hot and portioned rather large. For two people, we spent only $68.00 on dinner. We didn't order any alcoholic drinks but I can imagine it would be a lot more if we had. The food was good quality. The service was on point. Shout out to the server we had. I forget his name but he was slim built with a bunch of tattoos. He was super attentive and always checked on us in the chaos. Be prepared for the weekend warriors out and a lot of impatient crowds trying to swarm the bar area. We will for sure be back! read more

Very fine. Despite being one of a few occupied tables, the service was painfully slow, the food came out a bit cold, and I just generally felt like the experience didn't meet expectations (especially for the price). They always seem packed for brunch and lunch, so perhaps the better time to visit this establishment. In the meantime, I'll be going to other places to get my Mexican food fix! read more

How can you not love a place that makes their own sauces? Poquitos is probably my fave restaurant up on the hill. They have a great HH, fantastic drinks, and good food all around. Everything is always fresh and have never had a bad time/experience here. Their patio area is awesome! Summers at Poquitos are definitely where it's at. Margaritas...ON POINT. Authentic street tacos, chili relleno (OMG YUM), even their rice and beans are awesome...and for most places that's hard to say. Everything is seasoned so well. The service is good and so are the prices overall. Plus, they have seasonal items like their tasty guacamole...last one I had, had blue cheese in it! You can't go wrong here...the environment is cool and full of rod iron...plenty of seating! read more

Muy bien! As you can tell, my Spanish is extremely limited (Hola, anyone?), but I can recognize decent eats when I see it. Overall, I give Poquitos a 3.5 star rating. I'm bumping the rating to 4 stars because this place has fried grasshoppers. Fried GRASSHOPPERS! I've been wanting to try this place out for a while, and I like eating something I've never tried before. Located between 10th and Pike in Capitol Hill,Poquitos has a cool vibe and hip atmosphere. The bar area looks as if Phantom of the Opera collided with a little Mexican eatery. --Braised beef tacos ($13): One of my favorites of the night! Tender, flavorful shredded beef. However, the rice and beans on the side were a little salty. --Ceviche ($12): Pretty good fish ceviche with strong lemony flavors. --Fried Grasshoppers ($3): Tiny, but inexpensive bowl of crispy grasshoppers to share. The chili-lime salt seemed to make the grasshoppers a little too sour, but definitely an "A" for effort. Overall, worth a try if you feel brave enough! --Jala-pina (jalepeno margarita) ($9): I had a few sips, and this cocktail was delicious with a nice peppery kick. --Churro ($5): Hot, crunchy fried goodness dusted with sugar. Included was a caramel dipping sauce. NOM NOM - Enough said... Overall, I liked Poquitos and would come back to try out their happy hour! read more

Poquitos happy hour was pretty great! We got lots of the small plates and enjoyed all of them. The brisket tacos, mini sopes, chips and salsa, quesedillas and mole fries were all excellent. Their margaritas were fine as well. Next time I would try their house beer...but I don't think I will be brave enough to try the grasshoppers. read more

When I say I miss happy hour, this is a huge understatement. I miss their happy hour bottles of house wines, discounted tacos/quesadillas but most of all, I cry over their DRY RUB WINGS which you couldn't get at any time except for happy hour. I need to know why this was only available during happy hour and not at any other times. Seriously the best wings I've ever had and it's probably been over a year with covid (no hh) that I've had them. I did order their taco home kit during the height of the pandemic which was delectable and plentiful. I hope poquitos comes back in full force in time so that I can imbibe and eat with my friends again. I love you, poquitos and your dry rub wings. read more

The main problem with this venue is the food prices for the quality you get. For example, one time I got tacos and it cost about $15, for a very small amount of food. Another time I got the chicken enchilada and it was a massive casserole of the same flavour. I'd like to be able to see each individual enchilada roll, etc. This reminded me of an enchilada in the form of a lasagna. (For the most part ) Also the margaritas are entirely way too sweet and do not taste authentic. I do love the guacamole though- if it wasn't so overpriced. read more

terrible service. server incredibly rude. Had no idea what he was doing. I would definitely come back here again. I love the atmosphere here - the classic ambience of a darkish bar yet enough light fills this place. The service was great. We had the yam tacos and the fish tacos. I loved that the server gave the option of grilled fish opposed to just battered. Also, the huge bowl of in-house made corn chips served with three different types of salsa were delish. I would come back just for the chips & salsa. Of course, I appreciated the local draft beer as well. Next time I'll try one of their margaritas; I imagine they're perfectly made. The location is also perfect if you're in Capitol Hill; it's situated right in the middle of Pike Street amongst all the shops & other cafes/bars. read more

I needed to find a brunch spot that could easily accommodate a large group. I had emailed multiple restaurants to make a reservation and Poquitos responded quickly. They could easily fit 16 in for brunch at one table and happy to do separate checks. Our group chose an assortment of drinks and dishes like Mexican coffee - strong coffee drink with coffee liqueur and tequila. Cast iron pancake - thick and fluffy pancake with seasonal toppings served with maple syrup and whipped butter. The pancake was very dense like a cornbread or cake. I had imagined something lighter like a Dutch baby. It would be very heavy to eat the entirety for breakfast it best for sharing. This dish also takes 15-20 minutes to prepare so don't come too hungry! Our group also ordered some Mexican breakfast dishes like huevos ranchero, chilaquiles, and carne asada & eggs. The carne asada & eggs also takes 15-20 minutes to prepare. Overall: food was fine but nothing too noteworthy from what I tried. Some of the sauces are good and my impressions may change if I had to eat a full plate instead of just a bite! I would probably come back and try some different dishes. What I do love is how easy to reserve a table for a big group. We sat in the corner of the restaurant by the window and kitchen and so we had a semi private spot that was perfect! Service was fine and I like the design of restaurant. Very trendy. The portions are big and pretty to look at too! read more

I really enjoy the look of this place and The music is on point...Every song was good lol! Two out of three of us enjoyed our meals but one of us was very unhappy! As you can see in the pic, her steak on her salad looked like it was still Mooing when it came out! I honestly couldn't believe they sent that out to a customer (Yikes)...They sent it back to cook more but I think it looked so bad that my friend was just off of it after it came back. She barely ate any and was kind of pissed about it! She wasn't going to complain though , so it was what it was ! My friend with the Yam tacos said they were good but wish they weren't as mushy. I enjoyed my food but had to use a little salt to put some life into it. So the ambiance, music & waitress were great...Food and prices Not so much!!! read more

Poquitos is one of my favorite mexican restaurants ever. I ordered to go from here today. I live in Bothell (last I checked the Bothell location is temporarily closed due to pandemic) but drove out to Seattle today and noticed the one in Capitol hill was open at least for take out/online orders. I was so pleased to hear this. I called the restaurant and was directed to the website to order online. My order was ready within 10 minutes of ordering and it was easy to place the order online and also an easy hand off. The meal I order every time I go to Poquitos is the "Enchilada Suiza" which is second to none & I've tried every Mexican restaurant in my areas attempt at a green/verde enchilada but nobody comes close to the flavor Poquitos. The flavor of the enchilada suiza is tangy, spicy and creamy all at the same time. (I could not say the same thing about the enchilada roja which I've had previously, its kind of spicy and ghost peppery --much different from the suiza and other red enchiladas from other restaurants.) I love their fresh black beans and rice. And they give you a separate container for rice and beans when you order to go so you don't get shorted on the enchilada. It's also always very well packed. Packed in a way that seems secure and safe if you were to be ordering from a 3rd party service that delivers it's not going to spill or be accidentally touched. Today from the restaurant app it was called "the enchilada verde" instead of the Suiza. It was mostly the same but the chicken inside was a little different than I remember, that kind of seems to depend on the chef working that day. One of my favorite things about poquitos is that they have an executive chef on staff, which may be part of the reason to food is so good. I love going inside the restaurant as well the ambiance is beautiful, elegant with a slightly Gothic Spanish colonial style to the decor. read more

normally I have a good experience at this restaurant but I went on Friday with my friends and the service was terrible. As soon as we walk in, my friend and I are waiting for the rest of our party to join us. They sit us at the table, ask us how many are joining and then the waiter leaves. When the rest of our party shows up, our waiter actually gives us attention and immediately starts saying "ok I'm going to go one by one asking for drinks appetizers and food and we are done...". after that he proceded to ask us for last call and our food wasn't even there... we tell him we are good and he gives us the check... I would go back to the restaurant but if I had that waiter again I would leave read more

Poquitos has fun ambiance and I really liked the cute corner seat where we were placed, but I felt like the food and drinks could have been better. To drink. I got the Fresa, which was a margarita made with strawberry-infused vodka. I thought that the drink could have been stronger, it had too much mixed and ice for my preference. The strawberries also didn't come through that strongly, but I get that it was just an infusion. We got the guacamole and tres amigos (queso, salsa, and refried bean dip) to start, and they were all fine, but not my favorite. The guac had a very mild flavor, as did the salsa. However, we liked the queso and refried beans, and both of those went well together. Then for a meal, I had the enchilada suiza with cheese enchiladas. I think the theme of the night was mild flavor. There was some spice and kick to it, but not a ton of flavor otherwise. read more

Excited to go here by recommendation of friend. Hostess carded two of our guests which was fine but super snarky about it and staring us all down. They were almost 30 years old - just the hostess' attitude was not appreciated to start our night. Server was not interested in helping us and assumed he would get 20% tip I guess (which we did give as to be nice). Forgot our refill drinks, when 2nd round came 25 min later, spilled a drink on our chips with zero apology. Our drinks were waiting at the bar and watered down since he forgot to get them. Food was average. Very average. Apparently they don't let you make any variations or very few. Asked for burrito variation and they said NO without explanation - just seemed annoyed. We would have paid for variation!? But NO. Overall very big bill, rude/nonchalant employees and average food. Zero parking of course too. Would avoid- so many better places to eat and spend money on Cap Hill. Disappointing and over priced. read more

The atmosphere in this place is great! Rustic and comfortable. We dined on a Thursday evening, so we walked in and were seated immediately. I ordered a pineapple margarita, which was okay. I'm sticking to the regular from now on, though. My daughter had a "Spicy Purist," which I have no idea what it is, but she loved it! I don't like the fact that chips and salsa were extra. In SoCal, chips and salsa are mandatory and served free of charge. They were good, however, as was the guacamole that we ordered. We both ordered cheese enchiladas. She loved hers with green sauce. I ordered red sauce, and I did not. it was, in my opinion, like the canned sauce. It was really dark and way too spicy. I boxed it up for my daughter to take home and ordered some fish tacos instead. They were delicious! The rice and beans were fantastic as well. I'm really not sure I'd give this place a second chance as the menu is very limited. read more

Great service and friendly staff. Nachos appetizer was excellent. If you are looking for authentic traditional Mexican cuisine, you will not find it here imo. If you want an innovative and contemporary flare cuisine with Spanish ingredients , this is it. The Calabasitas was a no no; it was bland and having sliced roasted garlic with corn/squash is not common in these dishes. The Al Pastor tacos was good and the diced pineapple balances it out, but the sauce that comes with it is too spicy. Overall, I would go back because the staff and service are great. read more

A bit overpriced and there are better Mexican places super closeby.... Yikes sorry but true!

Came here for my friend's bachelorette last night and it was a fantastic experience. Loved the decor and the general vibe of the place! The guac was fantastic ($11 full order) and a heaping amount, great for sharing. We had three for a table of 9, and it was the perfect appetizer, coupled with the delicious salsas. The trio were all flavorful and mild -- for the heat shy. I ordered the poquitos margarita, which was a classic, and delicious, but a little bit pricey at $10.50. However, coming out to a nice place, you are paying for everything -- service, vibe, etc. Everyone else also enjoyed their drinks from sangria, to pure margaritas and specialty cocktails. I got the enchilada suiza with chicken $16.50 and it was fabulous. Had a bit of heat, so if you're not into spicy, might want to shy away from this one. Came with a side of rice and beans, which were the perfect filler to soak up all the alcohol we were about to have. They easily split our checks individually, and split the cost of the guacamole as well which made it easy for all of us to pay! read more

We really like this place. Nice people who try and help you work through their full offerings. My daughter is full vegan and they had several offerings for her as well. Great margaritas and happy hour. Gets busy during happy hour, so earlier is better. Can get a bit loud. Like the community fire tables in the outer bar. Let me start by emphasizing that I do not like Mexican food... and my friend that took me here doesn't either! I get that this place isn't exactly authentic but it was really modern and still yummy. We both enjoyed our chicken enchiladas and grilled chicken salad (I forget the name) very much! The only downside is that this place is pretty overpriced. My salad alone was 16-18 dollars, I can't remember. Our server was very kind and considerate. She had great recommendations. I would love to come back here and see what Mexican food has to offer. I have been to this place a few times and always like it. I can understand how some of the reviews are not great due to spotty service (particularly when busy), but the food is always excellent. I sat at the bar and started with the Poquito's margarita. I am not a huge margarita fan, but really liked that. I ordered the chips with guacamole to start. The guacamole is outstanding, as good as any I have ever had. The chips are good also. I ordered the half order and the basket is huge (although I quickly ran out of guac so that about half of chips went to waste). They could have a better balance, I bet that happens a lot). I then ordered the prawns with salsa verda. It comes with rice and beans--where even the beans have a really good flavor. The prawns were just wonderful and the sauce was sublime. This is an excellent dish, Mexican done perfectly. I am still thinking about that sauce. Like every Mexican place ever, they should have provided more tortillas (just three small ones-- I will pay a buck more for a couple more). They also took forever to clear food and present my check. However, the food is so delicious that it still deserves the highest review. read more

Came here yesterday with my husband and friends. Our sever was very sweet . The food was really good. I love that they offer both Vegan and Vegetarian. My food was the perfect amount. What I got was very unique. I ate every last bite My husband likes his food but the taco tortillas they come on are ridiculously small. To charge $ 17 bucks is ridiculous. And charging $11 for a margarita in a standard class is insane. Thought Mexican restaurants served margaritas in..well a margarita class. That's why I didn't order one. Over priced. Also what kind of Mexican restaurant doesn't serve complimentary chips and salsa???? we kept waiting for them to bring them out and we noticed that they don't bring them out, that you have to pay $6 for that. which is crazy because we arrived starving and most Mexican restaurants serve chips and salsa. Cool spot but I wouldn't go out on my way to go back. I wouldn't consider this Mexican. More Tuscan style good if anything read more

After several missed oportunities to visit Poquitos with friends i finally took my famiky to visit thisplace that all my friends rave about. Located the in heart of the food and bar scene in capitol hill poquitos stands out amongst other restaurants in the area. We stopped in with brother, mom , daugther and i and we loved our experience!! Upon arrival we were created and although it was open seating we were walked to a table nearby. Our Server was nice and polite and introduced herself and made recomendations. We started with drinks. We had two appetizers; potatoe tacos and Ceviche. Being from Mexico these two dishes are some of my favorites so i wanted to see what poquitos had to offer.. I was not dissapointed, although they have their own style which is different to what i have tried, thwy still delievered in quality, authenticity and flavor. Try these appetizers!! Moving on to our main entries i was drawn to the "Torta en ahogada" a very authentic mexican dish not found in many mexican restaurants.. My brother picked the Enchiladas Suizas and mom picked the Chilaquiles (another mexican staple food). Our food was brought promply to our table and let me tell you!! It was gone just as fast as we got it!! The food is so delicious!! Guys overall this place is good and to die for!! Atmosphere is great! Food is Authentic with modern flair and its top notch! Came here with friends after drinking at a few spots in Capitol Hill. There were pros and cons about things, so I had to go with a 3/5. Layout: It has a really nice atmosphere and set-up. When we arrived around 10pm, the main dining area was closed, so the back and bar was opened for seating. We were lucky that there was a booth open, so we sat down. The weird part was that the seats were concerte and somehow warmed...It looks like the back bar area may have been converted from a former outdoor seating area. The various Spanish-style accents were really nice throughout the location. Food/Drinks: I was a little disappointed with the food and drinks. They have an extensive menu option of drinks, especially some specialty Mexican drink cocktails. I got one of the pineapple margaritas and it was way too sweet! There was not a lot of alcohol and too much ice. It mostly tasted like really sweet bacardi coconut rum. My boyfriend got one of the margaritas that had jalapenos and all you could taste were the jalapenos...not a fan! I ordered the guacamole with chips. It came out in a good amount of time, but I was hoping for a little more guacamole with the huge bowl of chips that it came out with. My friend had ordered salsa and chips and they had forgotten about it. Luckily, it came out with 3 different salsa types and the waitress apologized for the mishap and took it off his bill. Overall, I think that coming here during the day might be a different experience than coming here at night. I don't know if I would choose to come here again, unless someone planned on wanting to be here specifically. It's not a bad place, but I personally think there are better places to go to in Capitol Hill. read more
