Being from Texas you can get very defensive over your mexican food. This place passed my particular taste profile for tacos. Had the chicken tacos, wife had the shrimp and we were both blown away! Did the half size guacamole and triple salsa and were super pleased with how it tasted. Absolutely would go back and you should to if you havent been in a while or just go if you have never been. Its a fun atmosphere with great food in a busy night life area. Just watch out for scooters, bicycles and idiots who dont use crosswalks. read more

Food didn't have much flavor in general. I got tostadas and they were fine but no salsa in sight. We also had the appetizers of salsas and chips and chips were definitely bagged ones. Salsa were good and had different flavors. Carne asada was a good size but lacking flavor. Service was good! They were attentive but not pestering. Definitely a chill spot to go with friends or a date. read more

Vegetarian's perspective -- TLDR: Pricing worth, food fantastic, best Mexican food in Seattle for sure. Food) Nachos -- 4.8/5 stars Super well priced, amazing portion size, the guacamole was fantastic and the jalapeño queso stole the show. These nachos were fantastic, and the only thing they missed on was not putting enough black beans (most of mine seemed to have fallen to the bottom. Kale & Mushroom Burrito -- 4.5/5 stars My friend ordered this, and while it tasted fantastic (both delicious and filling), it was very oily. That being said, well worth the price and the flavor was great. Salsa Trio -- 4.8 / 5 stars Our waitress was amazing -- she heard we were there to celebrate my friend's birthday and surprised us with the Salsa Trio, which was awesome. This comes with red salsa, salsa verde, and pico de gallo (with chips!) and it was a great accomplice to our other items. We were feeling a little sad that there weren't the free chips/salsa you get with many Mexican restaurants, so this item was awesome. I don't think I'd pay the price for these if we didn't get these for free, hence my lower rating. Ambiance) Fantastic area, the vibe was popping, the staff were great -- super worth. I did notice a lot of cacti plants; I'd move those plants since I almost leaned back and hit those (they add a great aesthetic don't get me wrong ; just a but away from the tables). read more

Great Mexican restaurant right in the middle of all the hype in Capitol Hill in Seattle. Parking is not so ideal since Street parking is very limited and parking lots are a bit expensive. But we got lucky with finding street parking and since it was closer to 10 PM we only needed To put money for an hour before it was free after that. We walked into the restaurant and a very lovely woman greeted us and gave us a booth and not long after A :-) gentleman came to get our drink orders. We ordered a jalapeño margarita and a plain house margarita. The drinks took a bit of a long time to come out but we were busy eating chips and guac so we did not mind it as much. They finally came out and I was a bit sad that my house margarita was in a shorter glass then the jalapeño margarita. We just assumed that they would both be the same size. Anyway we went on to ordering, and the last time I was here I had ordered a tostada salad but they said they no longer have that and instead they serve the chop salad. I quickly change my mind and decided to go with the ceviche which normally is an appetizer but I wanted it as my main dish. We asked our waiter what other dishes he would recommend and he suggested we go with one other specials which was another type of ceviche made with tuna fish. We took his word and ordered that. Once again it took a while for the food to come out and the regular ceviche which was meant as an appetizer was absolutely delicious however the one that our waiter had recommended was maybe 1/4 of what the regular ceviche was. It was an extremely extremely small portion but not only that it had an extremely strong fish flavor and odor, to the point that I could not have anymore after the first bite. It's a shame because we came in with the memories of what we had experience the first time around but the food was just not the same as before and the service was a bit slower. But the margaritas were both delicious and the servers were all extremely nice. read more

**Vegetarian Friendly** This place was PACKED for a Friday night!! They have two seating sections - one for those with reservations, and the other is first come, first serve area near the bar. So many flavors of margaritas! The half-order of guacamole is the perfect for two people. The Mexican street corn was good, but not something I would order again. The star of the night was the Yam Tacos. Who thought of putting together goat cheese and yams?! I was seriously mind blown! Great environment for a night out with friends. Extra kuddos because the restaurant identifies vegetarian and gluten-free options on their menu! read more

Great guac. Great vib3. However. Why vinegar and figs on the flan? Should be sugar. Caramelized sugar. 4 mins on the stove, maybe 5 mins. One ingredient. Azuuuucar. And the flan was too floury, not enough egg yolks. It's not a cake, it's an egg custard. With a sweet sugar glaze, not sour salady vinegar. read more

Been here a few times back in the day when it first opened, but haven't really returned until recently when my friend and I were in the area and wanted a margarita before seeing a show at nearby Neumo's. And after having done so, I remembered why I hadn't returned. The food and drinks just fall short for me. ...Which is really too bad because the space is awesome! It's huge, with a wrap-around bar, plenty of dining seats and a back area with a fire pit and dim lighting. It looks like a fun place for a gathering and being centrally located on Capitol Hill makes it easy for people to want to check Poquitos out. But again, you're here to get great food and drinks which has never really been the case for me in my visits. As I mentioned - my friend and I were last here to get margaritas and ordered a Purist Margarita for each of us, which is basically just tequila and lime juice, so no bullshit, right? But it tasted super sweet, which I wasn't a fan since I do not like sugar-y drinks. My friend also ordered chips and salsa, and though it comes with three different salsas - chips were stale. Poquitos just didn't make the cut once again. Although Poquitos is an appealing place with the decor and space in the Capitol Hill neighborhood, I wouldn't come here for my Mexican fix. read more

I guess the perfect time to eat poquitos is when you want a "little bit" ._. *crickets stop cricketing and start packing up to leave.* Ok, I'll keep my day jobs. Lol. Lets dive in really quick! This may be the shortest review I write. *Gasping mice* Atmosphere: Im not going to lie, for a poquitos place this sure has a ton a room an is delightfully big. The whole atmosphere feels modern with a twist of Hispanic culture and by the shoes on my cat (Which look dashing and ridiculous on him.) this place is spotless. (If you slide my poodle to one end to the other, you could get him to the other end.) Cleanliness is a big plus, with chandeliers that make any grandma envious that she doesnt have it in her porch and tables that make any park jealous of city funds. This place is beautifully put together. With being right next to Neumos, it sure is convenient. Customer Service: Was a tad slow, for how slow the restaurant seemed. (I mean maybe the staff forgot to drink coffee? ._. I'm a walking zombie without mine. But were in Seattle. You could literally throw a rock and hit a starbucks window. Breaking it and causing a concussion on a hipster bystander that was yelling about his low carb, sugar free, grass fed, caged free, massage daily dairy and whip topping mocha. But I digress.) I cant help myself to not shake off that it was slow but the waiting time to get our orders and food out was really slow. :c Sad panda that found out hes a polar bear! Food/drinks/price: The food was amazingly good. ._. Which left any doubt of the service out of mind. (Which let's face it, that's everyone with any problems before food. Lol) The nachos were exceptional and had melted in my mouth. (Maybe that was just the sour cream... maybe I just ate the sour cream.. oh god. Lol) The meals were rightly portion and to say I had not one second to spare for a picture. (As to how hungry and good it was. The drinks were kicking and well balanced. Simplicity is key and they succeeded. The price, was a bit high and probably not convenient for what we were getting. (Its good but not 40 dollars of taco Bell worth good.) Conclusion: Spotless and amazing atmosphere, with the service of a sloth working in a cash register, amazing food and drinks but overly priced. (Maybe due to the location, price has to go up. It is Seattle. You try renting an apartment.) Overall and ok experience. Will definitely come back tho. read more

Was visiting friends in Seattle and we settled on Poquitos. Loved the vibe and high seating arrangements. Food was amazing! Our server was Jonathan. He was very patient and really nice even after I messed his name up. Lol. All in all. I really love Poquitos! Definitely, will be my 1st stop next time in Capital Hill read more

Tacos Al pastor were amazing! Friday night no wait to get seated, we Had a good time!

Bartender approached after finally being told that I was at the bar. He was apologetic for the wait so no problem on that, but when I say "Eew" I mean eewwwww. Grosss. Sigh...the apocalyptic bug in my glass made me gag something serious. See video. And after notifying staff, It honestly came off as normal, barely fazed. Then fixed by simply comping the DRAFT beer. There is obviously some cleaning that is needed and I can't believe how many people are just drinking this shit on tap and not realizing it, LIKE ME. Barf. Never returning. read more

Absolutely loved this place! Came here for my sisters birthday and to celebrate her and her husbands wedding the day before. Great experience from start to finish. Our server, Alice, was INCREDIBLE for it only being her 4th day working she was a natural and we would have never known she just started here. The food and drinks were amazing. We had the mezcal margaritas and fresas. Highly recommend the chicken quesadilla. At the end of our meal I snuck away to ask Alice if They had anything she recommended for desserts, but unfortunately the kitchen was closed. But not worry! Alice was able to make it work and got her a cup of whipped cream with fruit and a candle to sing happy birthday along with a nice blow job shot for the groom (sister wasn't drinking). We had an amazing time here, everyone was super nice and like I've said earlier our server Alice was GREAT! She was attentive and kind for the entire meal lol. read more

A little pricey but delicious. Try the corn guacamole.. AMAZING! Best guacamole we have ever had. Yam tacos were wonderful and I can't wait to try and recreate them at home. My bf had the cheese enchiladas. He ordered chicken but got cheese so that was a bummer but we didn't want to send them back. Still good though. Beans and rice were yummy. They use black beans instead of retried but the seasoning was good. I believe our waiter was named Danny. I could be wrong. But he was awesome. So friendly and really sold us on the seasonal items. Beautiful and lively place! The vibe and atmosphere is sooo spectacular. The staff is super friendly and helpful and I always have a great experience here. As a vegetarian my favorite thing to get it the Yams Taco. It's a unique dish but a bit overly sweet. I love getting the chips and salsa and there's different salsa options which I love. HAPPY HOUR is the best time to go! The drinks are strong and delicious. With it being winter I love getting seats next to the fire pits to stay warm. If you're looking for more authentic Mexican cuisine (with better flavors) there are a lot more options in the city. To me Poquitos is like a place where people go to enjoy okay Mexican food just to be seen. If you want a place to enjoy good food and cheap and strong drinks in a super fun and laidback atmosphere on the Hill, this is the place to be! read more

I can see why people talk about this place a lot! It's got a beautiful interior and in the summer the garage doors are open for a wonderful breeze. They have a wide selection of drinks which are yummy and I got the Baja fish tacos which were a perfect serving size. We also got the salsa trio since chips and salsa weren't free. I was in a group of 3 and at the end they split the salsa fee in 3 for us to easily pay evenly. read more

I said I could not wait to come back and guess what? It was even better than I remembered Covid protocol wise they are solid. Large spaces between tables, you order your food and drinks through plexiglass at the bar - which was original and great! - and I saw them sanitizing tables between customers. Had my drinks within a minute, food within five minutes and it was delicious. Everybody there was nice, At one point I stood up and forgot to put my mask on and got gently yelled at which I completely deserved and appreciated. I can't wait to go back yet again, especially since their white sangria is my new favorite sangria in all of the sangria universe read more

This place has some decent Mexican food. The ambiance is vey different from your traditional mexi place which I appreciated - unique lighting and a darker tone as opposed to the largely colorful style of say, azteca. Lol. I got the enchilada w green sauce which was actually really good. One thing is the price point is pretty poor- not worth what you pay. Nothing amazing which makes it fairly overpriced. read more

Poquitos - Enchiladas! - Mexican Near Me - Seattle, Washington

For the past 5 years I have been a regular at poquitos and had great service and great food and unusual dishes. Their Yucatan chicken was my favorite dish for years and still was to this day. After my experience with takeout tonight and how poquitos handled the situation this will be my last visit ever to poquitos. When I got to my apartment I opened up the bag and my chopped salad had wilted lettuce and rotten advocados. The guacamole was watered down and looked like it had green food coloring to make it green. The Yucatan chicken now called citrus chicken was missing the rice and beans. To make matters worse the Yucatan chicken was so dried out and old I could chew it because it was tough. The salsa trio which comes with 3 salsas tasted like pace picante salsa and poquitos charges $10 for it. What a rip off!! I have tried calling poquitos on the phone to complain to the manager with no one answering the phone. I tried calling poquitos 10 different times. I emailed poquitos twice with no response. This is no way to treat a customer with rancid food and not answering the phone. I threw the food in the trash rather than risking getting sick. Poquitos took money and took advantage of me. Since I paid with an American express credit card I may file a dispute with American express and refuse to pay for this meal. read more

Went in yesterday for the second time. Had the Corn Esquites which is one of the appetizers. Definitely has its spicy to it, gotta squeeze the lime on top first tho! Any shred of customer service is dead. Walked by shortly after 7:45p on a Sunday. Door sign said closing at 8:30p. Stood by the 'wait here' sign for quite a while before a staff member finally approached my gf and I to say, "we're closed for the night". I asked if the door sign was wrong. She said that the kitchen was already closed to which I replied that we were only looking to get a few drinks. She replied that they were closed because we would not be able to leave in time. I literally took out my phone to show her that it was 41min until their posted closing time and asked if the owners knew that the staff were turing away customers 41 minutes before closing time. She didn't answer the question and repeated that we could not be seated because we wouldn't leave on time... I remember restaurants dragging me in 10min before their posted closing hours - "that's just our last seating time." That's dead now. In case the owners read this, the employee started her name was Rachel. She was a Caucasian brunette of average height and build, without a shred of customer service. read more

This is a good spot. The drinks were great. We ended up going on a Tuesday and it was Tequila Tuesday which is 50% off Tequilas. The Jalapeno queso had a nice kick to it. We just had a terrible experience here. We ordered two grilled chicken quesadillas and they were nothing but empty tortilla basically a very small piece of chicken and half part cheese. Their cokes are very flat and full of ice so basically you get two sips of each glass and then its water. The chips are good but their Guacamole was below average. My friend ordered to Enchiladas and they where average. The seats were very sticky to a point you couldn't sit on them. I'm sorry but can't recommend this place at all. read more

This place was my GO TO for years! And then COVID killed their customer service and food quality. We have gone twice since Covid and won't be back- the man working at the bar CLEARLY hates his life and his job. Avoid until after Covid is over and hopefully they will bring their A team back. 6 Tacos 3 Corona 1 Margarita Chips and Salsa $102 (before tip) Me trying to hand back the margarita to bartender... "Sir I ordered my margarita with no salt" The guy at bar walks away "No you didn't" "I am sorry sir, but I did" (me following him, cause he straight up walked away)... Meh... I really do not know what the hype was about. The food was mediocre at best. For the price I was expecting something more than stale tasting chips and dry tasteless barbacoa (which is suppose to be spiced and juicy). The grilled corn was ok but had canned pickled jalapeno... Would have tasted a whole lot better with some freshness by using fresh jalapeno. The food was pretty much whitewashed and tasteless overall. EDIT --- Just like another reviewer stated previously. This is definitely Mexican food for white people = no flavor and no spices. I know this is during COVID and all but c'mon... You're not gonna win any support by being mediocre. read more

Food *** Service *** Value *** Venue *** It really is nothing spectacular, but I can see the convenience of it since it is in the heart of the Cap Hill nightlife. We came for brunch one day and the food was decent at best for the price. The breakfast I ordered came with two slices of wheat toast that were served completely plain...no butter or jelly offered. IDK, thought that was pretty weird for an $11 plate. The restaurant has indoor seating or seating "outside" in the atrium, but i'm pretty sure the booths are made of concrete. Pretty chill for a nice summer day, but like the rating says, this place is just OKAY. read more

Delicious Mexican Break on Capitol Hill SITREP Before hitting the ROCK BOX this fine Saturday evening, I took a stop here with my friend Thrill for some pre-Karaoke munchies. SETUP Lots of space for Happy Hour all throughout the restaurant main dining hall AND in the back happy hour lounge area. Beautiful Iron-works stand-alone Fire Place where I enjoyed huddling and getting warm. A nice crowd with a great vibe. MENU I had a couple of their items: *Mini Sopes - corn masa boats, filled with chicken tinga & topped with salsa verde , diced onions, cotija cheese & cilantro *Ceviche Tostado - Marinated rock fish & calamari in lime, garlic, onion & Serrano chiles, with tomatillo, avocado & tomato. If you refer to the snapshots that I took of each item, you can see what the food set-up for was for each item. The Mini Sopes were OUTSTANDING. Substantial (there were THREE), delicious and hearty. I really enjoyed the tasty spiced chicken and with the enhancements of the cheese, onions and salsa verde. This was without a doubt a TOTAL WIN for me. However, I have to admit that I got the Ceviche Tostado as per the recommendation of the server, but was disappointed in that recommendation. At $5 a pop - and during happy hour no less - it was not a substantial food item (only ONE small item) with little food substance and on a very small tostada shell. And it may just be a personal taste, but I found the lime to be way too overpowering. This second item was indeed overshadowed in taste & substance by just one of the Mini Sopes - in which instance, I probably should have stuck with another round of the Mini Sopes which at least provided much more substance and heartiness. NOTE: I am not an "ART-eater". I don't particularly give a rat's ass about presentation, or at least, that is only a secondary consideration to the primary considerations which are, "Was it substantial, delicious, and filling?" This was not. It reminded me too much of the kind of French cuisine that I despise that puts more attention on the "look" (with it's pretty frakkin garnishments). So if you like that? Then for go this. ;^D However, that was only a minor annoyance when compared to the rest of the wonderful environment and the general overall positive chill mood of the place, and the quality of the menu and drinks. MARGARITAS I stuck to diet Coke, but my Happy Hour-partner Thrill raved about his two standard margaritas for only $5 a pop. For him, they were a TOTAL WIN. THE LOWDOWN A delicious happy hour stop on any day of the week. If unfamiliar with the offerings, take a look around at what other people are getting and you'll do a pretty good job of seeing something you like. I would definitely go back, but would be much more discriminating in what new items I would consider, and definitely know what item to NOT get for myself again. read more
