My fiancé and I are major fans of Poquitos as he is originally from the greater Seattle area. We were in town visiting his parents and they brought us out to dinner. We had amazing food and a variety of quality tequilas to choose from. I tried the Tequila Fortaleza for the first time, and it was just amazing to say the least. The service was on point and the staff are very well trained and extremely knowledgeable about tequila and mezcal. The romantic dark ambiance adds to the experience. A must visit when in downtown Seattle. read more

There is a large indoor space and a large outdoor space that also has a bar. If you get lucky and come during the warmer days they will open the windows (more like garage doors) to get the nice breeze. For drinks my first was the watermelon-mint margarita ($12) which is apparently one of our waitress' favorite drinks but I thought it was just okay to me. My second drink was basically a strawberry margarita which was better than the first one. My friend and I both ordered the mixed taco plate ($15.50) which includes one chicken, one steak, and one al pastor taco so we were able to try all the different meats. I loved the chicken but the al pastor was my favorite. They were a little smaller though so each taco was gone in three bites (or is that a me problem?). They have a couple sauces that go well with the tacos but are spicy so beware!! The rice that came with it was surprisingly really good and addicting; I could eat that rice all day if I wasn't trying to cut to get that summer body. We also got the chicharonnes ($8) which was good and also spicy but the jalapeño queso sauce was the real winner of the dish. read more

Great location! Great look, unfortunately I cannot say the same about the staff or the food! Ugh, hate when that happens. This was my first visit and it was with a party of 15 ppl or so. Relax, we had reservations 2 weeks in advance. That didn't change the service we received. Our server seemed disoriented and tired. I truly felt bad for her. I had the yam tacos. The day of they weren't very good. The yams were tough and the goat cheese sparse. The second day reheat made the yams more tender and easier to eat. The Spanish rice and black beans are just okay. I took a survey with the other people in our party and got the same feedback. The food was not good and the service was disappointing. I really recommend this place for drinks and location. Save your money on the food and don't expect too much from the staff! That is my humble opinion. read more

This place has good food, but it's definitely not authentic Mexican food. It is much more fancy than that and the price reflects it. This is great for date night, I recommend the chips with the salsa samplers. read more

Both the chilaquiles and huevos rancheros were SOUP- wayyy too much sauce. The restaurant was empty and yet the server was inattentive. The drinks were delicious though so that gained them an extra star. read more

Delicious!!! The food was amazing, the ambiance is so cute, and the staff was super friendly. Coming from California I've had a lot of Mexican food and this was great. Not super traditional but honestly most traditional Mexican food is bland. This was flavorful and we will for sure return. Edit: The churros are a MUST!!! read more

It's difficult to describe the depth of flavor in there Carne Asada but it's one of the closest things that I found to real authentic carne Asada from the Jalisco region of Mexico and I cannot express with words how this food is so close to the original. If I was still legally allowed to dance in any of the lower 48 states I might attempt an interpretive dance that's somewhere between Elaine Bennis full body seizure set to music and Mr. Roboto. I always get the same boring thing: a dozen of their tacos no onions and my mouth has an explosion of delicious yumminess that Shakespeare himself would struggle to encapsulate in a mere 26 letter alphabet. The only thing the store doesn't have that would make it more authentic as far as genuine Mexico is an open sewer within nose shot of the store and seeing military trucks filled with soldiers in the back drive by every few hours. Then you need a line at least 20 minutes long and the rotating spit out front with the sliced meat rotating towards open flame with a pineapple on top but the food taste almost the same. So I appreciate how they've chosen to reproduce the best parts and allowed us to enjoy the food in their store or take it to go for a park or home to enjoy a marvel movie on Apple TV. read more

TBH, this wasn't our first choice, but it was a last-minute decision to go to Capitol Hill and every other place we looked at was booked up already, so we made a reservation at Poquitos. We were seated right away when we arrived, but finally had to flag someone down 30min later so we could order. That person then waved someone else over and that woman took our order. She was friendly enough, but a few moments after she left, she came back to confirm our order. I mean, I'm glad she did, because she got pretty much everything wrong (it was just three of us, and we didn't have any special requests other than extra cheese on the nachos), but I just don't get why servers don't write anything down anymore if they can't remember stuff. When our food was brought out, the food runner asked who had the nachos. I pointed to one of my friends, then I pointed to my other friend and said, "salad," and said I had the enchiladas. I felt I was polite about it and was just trying to be helpful. Except he kind of rolled his eyes and goes, "We number you, we know who gets what." Well, yeah, I get that restaurants do that, but then why did you ask who had the nachos? Jerk. My friends seemed to like their nachos and salad, but I didn't like my enchiladas. The flavor was good (I got the suizas), but the tortillas were thick and doughy and the shredded chicken was super dry. The side of rice and beans was also strangely dry, and the rice was a bit hard (it had the texture of rice that's been in the refrigerator then taken out to sit at room temperature for a while). Anyway, food was not great and neither was the service. I also dislike places that make you pay for chips. I've said it before in other reviews--as long as everyone orders an entree, things like chips and bread (at least a first serving) should be complimentary. Glad home abounds with great Mexican food. read more

Dined here many times and it's our go to spot with company. Service is always friendly, attentive, and fast. Food, including appetizers, is always fresh and delicious. Complex flavors and wonderful dishes! Fun ambience includes the back area with its roll up doors. read more

I don't remember the last time I was at a restaurant and wasn't able to get past the apps/soups-salads. Perhaps it never happened before, but it happened here. What threw me off was the mammoth steak nachos and then the super hearty chicken tortilla soup. Shame though, would have loved to try more of the menu. Shoutout to the service as well! read more

Not great service. No waiters. And everything was bland and the nachos were burnt. We were disappointed because we usually love Mexican food and nachos are usually a safe bet. Unfortunately that was not the case at this establishment. The jelo-pina margarita was pretty good though. read more

Amazing find. I'm blown away! Food came out fast and hot! Taste 10/10 Atmosphere and location 10/10 Music 10/10 Service 10/10 Authenticity 10/10 For the price paid --I felt full and happy. Both meals were SO DELICIOUS! Great for a day with friends or a date! Only things that come to mind that would turn some people off : you pay for your own salsa and chips and there's not much of it & when you're ready to pay the waiter will go through a "we pool our tips" speech that... Well, kind of awkward . Update: we went for drinks -- and those are great too!! Bartenders are super cool. read more

Decent place if you like a large crowd atmosphere. Came here on a Saturday night for couple of drinks with my friends. It was pretty packed, but we did find a table with the fire pit to sit at. Service was very attentive and friendly even it was busy. That was a plus! We all ordered some Margaritas, and we ordered one order of chip and avocado to share. Surprising their avocado dips is really good and fresh. Taste like they just made it or something. It was a fair portion too. One thing I do like to point out is that why would they pass out their "Happy Hour Menu" to us on a Saturday night, when HH is only for Sunday thru Thursday!? I got the Fresco strawberry margarita. It was very fruity, maybe too much juice. I can't taste the liquor much? Maybe, just whoever was making my drink. I didn't order any of their food, I wasn't hungry. I saw couple orders was brought out to other tables, the portion for the entrees were small lol. Well, I'm glad the chip and avo/salsa was still fair. This place give me more vibes of a place to gather and hang out. But for Authentic Mexican food, not my spot. Just a note for Mexican cuisine lovers. You should definitely knows about this. Any Mexican restaurants I been to they serve you chip and salsa first and its FREE with different kind salsa and as well the refried bean. So, Poquitos made be a Mexican Restaurant, I just wouldn't come here for Mexican food. read more

Ended up at this place because I made a wrong turn looking for a different Mexican restaurant. Not sad I made the mistake. Service was friendly and quick. They have a Poquitos margarita that is very tasty, Started off with guacamole and home made chips. While the guacamole servicing as a little small for the price the taste and chips made up for it. Dinner was the chicken Enchiladas. Served with rice and black beans. The flavor was amazing, you can taste each part while it all comes together. I will say the server said the sauce was medium...I'd move it a little higher up in the heat chart, to me it was closer to hot. Not horrible but warm. read more

Best Mexican food and margaritas, great atmosphere, and very clean restrooms. Worth the trip from the downtown tourist areas.

We got the guacamole and chips with the Trio Amigos. The jalapeno queso was our favorite. For the mains we got enchiladas, burritos and the Yucatan chicken. Both the quantities and taste for the price were below expectations. read more

Once you accept that Poquitos is Mexican food for white people, everything becomes easier. It's good food, yummy and fresh, don't get me wrong, but my Mexican mother wouldn't be too happy. I come for the creative cocktails and magnificent margaritas, and stay because they have an amazing patio space furnished with flames of fire to keep everyone warm. I appreciate the steps they've taken to remain open during Covid, I just wish their food was a little dirtier (if you're a fan of real Mexican food, you'll know what I mean). read more

Really really good food. Tried every single plate and not one dissatisfied me or my friends. Rice was really good. Beans were fresh and not canned!!! Portions look small, but super filling. Only complaints are the horchata was small and the guacamole needed more salt, black pepper, lime, and spice. Guacamole did taste very fresh so I do give them that. We do wish the food was spicier but that's just our preference. read more

YUM! We got a few Mexican recommendations to eat at while visiting Seattle for a quick weekend and this looked like a great spot for us. So glad we came here. Everything about it was great from the service, atmosphere, quick seating, and food/drinks. I just had a regular margarita and if was great, I'm a hard judge on margaritas so I'll give them this as there is nothing worse then sitting down At a Mexican restaurant and getting a terrible marg. I had the fish mahi mahi tacos and they were so delicious. Others at our table had the trio taco and the quesadilla and they all very much enjoyed. We started with the guacamole to share and it was well worth it! Hot sauces on the table are great options to add but the food itself is filled with flavor that you may not need them. Service was great, we got seated quickly as there were open seats at the bar. Bar area is a little loud but still service was quick and great. We highly recommend! read more

This is a great place for happy hour. I have been for their daytime happy hour and their late night happy hour. Their menu has a good option of dishes and drinks to choose from. As a SoCal resident who can get delicious Mexican food almost anywhere, Poquitos is up there with the best of them. Located in the Capital Hill area of Seattle, this vibrant Mexican restaurant does not disappoint. The food has delicious flavor, and it's served hot and fresh. I ordered the fish tacos, and OMG they were great. The fish was perfectly fried, and the veggies on top were fresh and crisp. We also ordered the salsa trio and street corn. Both really yummy too. The meat platter...OMG! It had so much flavor, and all of the meat was super tender. There are so many other items that I can't wait to try. Looking forward to another visit soon. read more

It was at most meh. The service was very much in line with the siesta mentality as if we were vacationing and time was merely a concept in the minds of some. No one was in any type of hurry! The nachos were delicious and our table finished the entire bowl!! The taste of my kale & mushroom burrito however did not live up to its size unfortunately. It was pretty bland and not satisfying. I barely ate half... NOTE: in case you're like me and don't read allllll the details, their Miami Vice is a blend of Piña Colada Slushee and Frozen Cranberry Daiquiri, NOT strawberry. Me and my woman went here during an outing in Capitol Hill. She raved about it for weeks. Her sister is really into it as well. So we went and I was in love! We got the chips and salsa tray to start. All three salsas it came with were phenomenal in their own way. The pico was amazing. She can't really do pico because of her weird cilantro gene thing but was still able to enjoy it. I got the Texas style breakfast tacos. They were so savory. The bacon was cooked to perfection, the salsa verse was the perfect blend of spicy and slightly sweet, and the eggs were perfect consistency. The cheese sauce was delicious but there was a little too much of it. The restaurant itself was a nice mix of cozy and upscale. There were personal fire pits on tables in the bar which has these beautiful large windows looking out into the city. There was plenty of room between tables so you feel like you have enough space to social distance. Between a margarita and corona, an appetizer and three entrees it was maybe 70 dollars. Killer deal. 5/5, want to go back for brunch. read more

Poquitos is an interesting spot and we did enjoy our meal and time here, we did have a good group outing and the prime spot on capitol hill which is worth something. While the gauc was top notch incredibly fresh and we thoroughly enjoyed the salsa trio. I was surprised that you do have to pay for chips and salsa but this was a cut above the normal free ones you get at other places. The star was the toasted tomatillo-serrano we had to get a second order of the salsa because we liked it so much. We were intrigued by the Chapulines - grasshopper's sautéed in sea lime salt, we got them and were a bit surprised by the fact there is not really a distinct flavor to them and they had just taken the powerful seasoning with a bit of a crunch. I noticed they had Baja fish tacos on the lunch menu so I was sold on the fact that it was Mahi Mahi based hit the spot. The meat was well seasoned grilled perfectly and had loads of garnishing for a crisp fresh finish. I did trade a fish taco for a carnitas and that was very good as well but not earth shattering but very good once you have had a few drinks in you. We did enjoy our time with friends the staff were friendly and accommodating. The drinks were good as they have to be with the with the quality of bars in this neighborhood. So grab a little friend or two and have lots of drinks and just enjoy the atmosphere! read more

We happened to just find this place while walking in the neighborhood. It was nice, the server was nice but the quality of the food and the prices were not good. I really can't eat large plates and wanted a taco dinner with 1 taco with rice and beans and was told the only plate option was the 3 taco dinner. It was not even an offer for a la carte items. I ended up getting the larger plate, then was told for adasa instead of birria(?) It was an extra $3. The food was bland. Being from Texas you can get very defensive over your mexican food. This place passed my particular taste profile for tacos. Had the chicken tacos, wife had the shrimp and we were both blown away! Did the half size guacamole and triple salsa and were super pleased with how it tasted. Absolutely would go back and you should to if you havent been in a while or just go if you have never been.
