I'm a hard no with this company. First impression, they were over an hour late to scheduled appointment and didn't call to let me know they were running late. When I called them asking where the guy was because I had been waiting for an hour for him, she seemed as if I had just reminded them that they had an appointment with me. I should have known at that point not to try them out. The guy finally shows up and he's nice enough then said he'd write up a quote and send it to me. That didn't come for almost a week later. Service was $125 a week and I needed a new pool vacuum and replacement of some leaky pipes for the pump. Against better judgement, I went ahead with this and asked that I receive a call when they would be at my house for the repairs so I can ask questions. They never called to tell me they we were at my property installing the pool vacuum and making repairs. I had no idea they were at my house until I saw the vacuum box they had left behind as trash. When I called them about this -the woman that answered the phone acted as if I was bothering her when I was asking questions about the vacuum because they didn't allow me the opportunity to be at the house when the techs were. I then asked that I be notified when they come out to clean the pool because I had additional questions and nope, they never called. I honestly have no idea if they even came out to clean the pool when they said they did. That woman though, I think her name is Kimberly, she shouldn't be customer facing. At this point I asked to have the owner call me and Kimberly just sent his number to me to call. If I'm the owner of a business with A LOT of competitors, I'd be calling my customers and developing relationships with them, I called the number she sent to me , no answer. I then text the number asking for a call back, no response. So I cancelled my service with them. They're awful. I'm now with orange leaf pool care and my techs are at my house at the same time every Monday, they respond to my text messages immediately and they send a report to me every week with a picture of my pool and the chemicals they used that day. Communication is key. They just landed a customer for life and I'll always refer Orange Leaf to my friends and strangers. read more

Recently upon visiting our vacation rental I found our spa was leaking badly and half full. I sent out a quote request through Yelp and Stephen answered it pretty quickly. He said he could service it that same morning. I was so relieved as it was a Saturday and the only other person responding at that time couldn't do it. I wasn't able to meet him out there because I had my daughters birthday party that day. I am one that prefers to be onsite when I have someone coming to fix something but I didn't really have a choice since we had new guests coming in that afternoon. Within 20 min of giving the address Stephen was able to locate the problem and sent pictures of what was wrong. After fixing it he checked a few other things and filled it back up and sent over pictures of the finished job. He charged me for the flat service fee that was quoted and was on his way. I felt so relieved it was all taken care of and by the time our guests arrived they had a nice hot spa waiting for them. I worked with George and Pool Daddy for the last few years, and also use his brother for landscaping. I used to own a pool cleaning service, so I handle that on my own, but they do all my repairs and upgrades. Their work has been great and pricing is in line with other services. I know they've been around for a long time so if I have any warranty issues, I can have them addressed. I noticed a few other reviews about people upset about new equipment recommendations. This is part of the business. No decent pool company is going to service a pool that has outdated/faulty equipment. The extra time and chemicals it takes to work on a pool with poor circulation and filtration is not worth the $100/month. When I would consult with a new client I would always give recommendations if required. If the owner didn't want to do them, then we would part ways. That's part of doing business, not every client is worth the time or hassle. What I look for in a service is that pricing is fair, on-time, and responsive. Pool Daddy meets all of these! read more

I needed a weekly pool maintenance service for my rental property in Scottsdale. I searched and found Pool Daddy so I decided to give them a shot since my landlord didn't know anyone and they were paying for it anyway. I haven't interacted with them too much, I just know that my pool is always clean and blue, and they always let me know to add more water so that my pump works properly (I have an older pool that doesn't automatically fill itself up). I haven't had any problems with my pool in over a year since I started using Pool Daddy's services. I pay them on time, and they come out every week on time (usually before I wake up for work) but I just leave the gate open when I know they are coming and they never disrupt my sleep or anything. No issues yet, and I don't foresee any in the future. I've already referred a few of my south Scottsdale neighbors to George after their pool guys left them "high and dry" (pun intended). Prior to George coming to my house to help me out, I had two other pool companies come out to address some issues with my pool. The other two companies were shocking (If I find time, i'll post reviews on them). George was brilliant. He diagnosed the issues in about 5 minutes and got everything fixed in about 15. He gave me some solid advice about how to treat my pool, manage it and taught me about some of the components that I didn't know about. I asked if I needed a few other things looked at (the previous pool company quoted me $400 for some work on my back wash valve) - George said there was absolutely nothing wrong with it and carried on with his work. After the job was done he hung around and chatted for a moment or two - super nice guy. I have now entered into a weekly service with him and his team at a rate that is actually the best i've found to date. You would think that it should be pretty easy to find good and reliable service in the valley seeing as there are probably about 12 million pool in this state, this couldn't be further from the truth. Pool Daddy rescued our pool during the height of the monsoon season. I was so impressed by Steven. He was prompt, friendly, and clearly an expert in the industry. He fixed the motor and pressure issues that created the issue and gave me some suggestions on how to self diagnose issues in the future. I found this company on Yelp, thinking that they were one of the best in the business. I was sorely mistaken. I emailed this company last Monday requesting a quote. I received no communication until I called them the next day. Red Flag 1- Regardless of your issue, there is a $85 fee for someone diagnosing your pool Red Flag 2- This company outsources their work to other pool companies Red Flag 3- I requested an invoice for my pump and filter installation on Thursday and didn't receive it until 4 days later, the day of my supposed installation (Monday) Red Flag 4- I received no appointment window or time for my installation. I took the day off of work to be at home for the installation Red Flag 5- I continuously called and emailed inquiring about when someone would install my equipment (on Monday), I was reassured that he would be there that day Red Flag 6- Lack of communication between outsourced pool company and Pool Daddy leads to NO installation on Monday. Receptionist did not communicate with outsourced pool company in time for installation/scheduling Red Flag 7- Pool Daddy pushes my installation to the right on Wednesday (today), does not provide a time range. At this point I was fed up and cancelled my appointment on Monday and found a cheaper and more reliable company Red Flag 8- Outsourced pool company shows up at my door at 5:20pm. Commence awkward conversation about cancelled installation and lack of communication between Pool Daddy and third party. For your situational awareness, find a different company. It seems like they have too much going on and can't give you the proper information you need. It literally felt like I was doing their job. I shouldn't have to hunt someone down to have them provide me an appointment window or the necessary paperwork. This company lacks professionalism and punctuality. That is no way to conduct a business and nobody has time for that. read more

We had pool Daddy for some time now and asked them to pls make sure not to charge us for services we were not advised of and authorized. We also asked them to stop turning off our pool vacuum timer and letting it run endlessly without letting us know. Both things continued. We finally said no more and gave them a months notice that we were ending the service. After a phone call explaining why we were ending the service, they still came and even though we called them to remind them of the termination they turn around and charge us for them coming after we notified them not come. read more

I had the worst experience with pool daddy. They are a scam. I agree with Greg M. and some other yelpers that all of the 5 and 4 star reviews are a scam. The owner is a scam artist and rude. I initially hired him to drain my pool, sand blast it and signed up for a weekly service program. He never called when he was on his way and never rang the doorbell. He would just walk right in to my backyard. I told him countless times to ring the door bell and call ahead and he would always say that, " I am ridiculous and have crazy expectations as a customer." He also started changing the price of the job that we agreed on to more. I should have known better, and fired him earlier, but I thought that since he had a good rating on yelp, that he was a good business. When his guy came to sand blast the pool, he showed up and never called and just walked right in the backyard. The job was supposed to take all day and he only spent an hour and 45 minutes on it. Then my mom called and told me he was at my house and that he was leaving. She told the guy to wait and that I was 5 minutes away, but he left quickly. She even told him that the calcium line was still visible and wanted him to fix it but he said that it was the best that he could do. I tried calling the owner and he kept declining my calls and his receptionist who has my phone number was not answering, so I canceled the charge on my credit card. Then the owner started calling me and cursed at me and told me that I am a, " fuck'in crooked kid that wants everything for free." I also found out that Pool Daddy is not licensed, so he cannot charge jobs over $1000. He also originally tried to convince me to acid wash my pool which should never be done unless the pool is stained terribly. I am reporting him to the Board of Contractors and the Better Business Bureau. read more

The owner has integrity. Things didn't go perfectly with the first installation of my pool railing. When I brought the issue up to Stephen several months later, he was a man of his word. Even though the job was small and after sending out a new crew to redo the installation I doubt he made any profit, he still made sure I was happy. I'll definitely use him for bigger jobs in the future. Things don't always go perfectly, but there is nothing more important than working with someone you can trust will make things right. read more

I needed my filter cleaned and pool maintenance done. My last pool service, DiamondBack Pool Service, didn't return my call right away, so I decided to try Pool Daddy. George removed the grid assembly then called me over and told me that the grids were broken and strongly suggested that I replace all of them. I felt the corner of one, which was broken, the rest seemed fine, no tears or obvious breaks. To be honest they were still in the assembly and I wasn't able to examine each of the grids separately - (but I wouldn't think that he should have been able either). Plus I had just replaced all of the grids eight months ago (after 3 years of use), and couldn't believe that they would have been broken already. He was going to charge me $40 per grid, while the other pool company only charged me $25. I decided not to have him order new grids but just clean the existing ones and clean and provide maintenance on the pool. He sprayed the grids with the hose while still in the assembly, instead of removing and cleaning each one separately. He left the mound of sludge on my lawn without washing it away. I use cellulose fiber rather than D.E., which I asked him to use. I left a new bag with him. After he had completed his work he came back with the bag completely empty. It was a 3 lb bag, and you're only supposed to use 9 cups. So after consulting with my guy at Leslie's I ended up backwashing and recharging the grids. I won't go further into details about communication issues, other than to say that Kimberly was very pleasant to talk with and very helpful during this whole process. It all ended amicably, but I wish I would have waited until my previous pool service returned my call - they're excellent. Another lesson learned. read more

George was super helpful and very informative! My pool had a a HUGE black algae problem, as a last resort I decided that I had to drain the pool and get it washed REALLY well. George came and gave us a "pool 101" class, during which he was able to perform a thorough assessment of necessary repairs and wrote a careful estimation of the work required. We are quite happy with the work of George and his team. They explained the work they were doing every step of the way, and checked for authorization for anything that wasn't on the original estimate. We needed some minor tile work done on our pool. George quoted the job, but we were gone when the work was done. When we returned we were not satisfied with the workmanship. George promised to make it good. It took a long time partially because we travel and partially because George wanted the same person that did the work make the repairs. This person showed up, but did not do what he said he would do when he said he would it, so George sent Jose there to fix the problem. Problem was fixed quickly, courteously, and professionally. Even though we had issues I would still use Pool Daddy for repairs. George never once faltered on his responsibility to fix the problem. I am very satisfied with the end result.
