Had dinner with family tonight at Ponzios & as always, the food quality was so good! They have amazing chicken parm & there is usually enough for leftovers for another small meal. Here's my issue! We were a party of 5 having dinner. At the end, we all needed containers for leftover food. Carrying all of that out, a bag is needed. I was told that if I wanted a brown paper bag, I'd have to pay 75 cents for each one! Are you kidding me???? We just spent over 150.00 for dinner & they wanted to charge us for a few bags to carry out our leftovers!!?? That's ridiculous! Their prices for food isn't exactly cheap & to charge customers for a silly bag for food they just ate & paid for is ridiculous! How cheap can you be? Now they want to tack on another 3.75 for a few lousy bags? Get a grip Ponzios!!! Nobody else does such a thing! I'll bring my own bags if I choose to eat there before I'll give them money for a take out bag after I just paid for my meal! The table next to us got annoyed & took it out of the waiters tip! I don't know where the Ponzio's of my youth went...up until a few years ago, I would proudly bring visitors from Ireland here and they would exclaim over the taste and portions of each meal. Now? Not so much. I only come now because my daughter loves their pancakes but otherwise, I'd never spend my hard earned money here again. Wait service is unpredictable - waitresses who are surly and watch as their coworkers take a spill while mumbling to themselves about how much they hate it there, really? I can sometimes ask for a slice of tomato to top my eggs and toast and either be charged 2.99 while getting a lecture about tomatoes are considered an extra side (I'll bring my own dang tomato next time) or they cheerfully drop 3 slices on my plate without a word. I decided to try their French toast and returned it after two bites. I told the waitress I thought it tasted like french fries - no wonder, it's fried in the same oil and comes out tasting like lard and is hard as a plate. Next trial: an omelette - another fail. Don't expect fluffy stuff omelettes, here. What I got was crepe thin egg wrapped around my chosen fillings. The homefries were overcooked and burnt on some parts. Speaking of plates, theirs seem to get smaller and smaller each year.Coffee cups are the smallest size possible and so are the water and soda cups. Wouldn't be so bad if you had great wait service but like I said, service can be spotty at times so your wait for a refill could be a long while. The last straw was this week when I ordered an $8.50 BLT sandwich. I could literally count the fries on my plate and this BLT comes with two measly slices of toast stuffed with 2.5 slices of bacon, 4 slices of tomatoes (oh, that's where the tomatoes go!) and a huge wedge of iceberg lettuce. Diners are a New Jersey staple. You can find a one on almost every corner. Ponzio's, however, stands out. Yes, you can order breakfast all day and you order all sorts of sandwiches and other diner fare. But Ponzio's in Cherry Hill, NJ is reminiscent of what diners were in the 60's, 70's and 80's. This huge diner is a place where I'd be confident ordering any meal on the menu. Actually, I'd highly recommend their seafood. Their crab cakes are as good as you're ever going to have at a diner and better than some seafood places. The amazing cheese rolls, cinnamon bread and other breads that grace the table before your meal are just a small sampling of the amazing baked goods that Ponzio's bakery turns out. You'll have a hard time resisting the urge to press your face against the massive bakery display cases. No matter what you choose you'll be happy with your selection. Personally, I'm partial to their cakes such as red velvet. Just recently I recommended Ponzio's to someone who was staying nearby for a few days. They were not disappointed and even took some baked goods back to Virginia with them. One other somewhat random thing worth mentioning is that their wi-fi is one of the fastest internet connections I've ever seen anywhere. That was an unexpected surprise. read more

Great diner-esque food with a huge pastry bakery case up front. My friend and I were getting hungry and I've seen signs all over for Ponzio's and thought it would be a great time to check it out. Our first server was a little..odd. But she had to leave half-way through and the next server was ok, but she was semi staring at us once in awhile. This was about 5pm on a Saturday and it was packed. To start out, the green bean fries were tasty and the philly cheesesteak spring rolls were super hot, crispy and flavorful. Being as hungry as I was, and knowing I can't actually eat that much I wanted something I could easily heat up the next day as well. Answer- chicken parm with a side of angel hair pasta. Huge portion! Everything was cooked perfectly with a really nice tomato sauce. My friend got a Reuben and loved every bite. The menu was large with a copious amount of options. My family planned to eat here before my wife's concert because of its location. My wife needed to leave early for the concert, and my parents were still half an hour away. They refused us because of a blanket policy of not allowing "incomplete parties." The lack of accommodation along with their dismissive customer service approach was surprising and disheartening. So after my sudden waffle/hashbrown craving this morning I opted to go here. It was super busy, but the environment was okay. I ordered take out. The bakery is near the take out/& waiting area so I decided to get a carrot cake cupcake too. Everything was really pretty and clean. I want to return to try lunch and dinner. When I received my bag the contents smelled like brownies! (idk y) I was so intrigued by the aroma that i figured it was the scent of the waffle and I couldn't wait to try it. The waffle was delicious and the hashbrowns/homefries were good too. I would've liked my hashbrowns to be a little crispier but overall I would purchase the same meal again. Ponzio's is a wonderful old-school diner and bakery of the kind you find in South Jersey and the surrounding areas. Unlike some others, though, Ponzio's has actually been around the whole time. The menu is huge--too big, I think. The last time I was at Ponzio's, I had the fried seafood combo. Of course I ordered a starter and of course I couldn't finish my meal, and (shock, horror) dessert was out of the question. Yeah, I went to Ponzio's and didn't order dessert. We came here on a ransoms Sunday. It wasn't a holiday, nothing spectacular was going on and this place was so crowded that it gave me anxiety. I wanted to leave, but it was already a tiring morning and we just decided to stay. We're does one stand where one is not in someone's way? We waited 35 minutes for a table - I was craving pancakes. I haven't even waited 35 minutes for a table in Manhattan! There is nowhere to stand, Poe ole loiter in the lobby where they impede the waitresses and the people trying to place ordered from their baked goods counter. I have never been bumped, pushed and shoved so much in a restaurant in my life. The waitress was lovely, she was stressed and I'm sure they were short staffed that morning because she kept apologizing and saying she was alone but help was coming. No worries, don't blame here at all...people call out, customers still come. The glasses at this pLace have gone through some stuff. The were dirty but were scratched to oblivion- clearly have been used a million times over. The pancakes were good....I wouldn't stand in that line again for them. First time here. I actually like this place. It had a beautiful small bar, a nice size baked goods set up with cookies, cakes pastries, yum, then the diner part which this place was quite big. The waitress was really nice. Small breakfast menu prices little higher than most diners. I had a bacon, egg and cheese on an English muffin which came with either home fries or potato pancakes. I was really torn between that or bananas foster french toast..I chose home fries they were actually really good, they had flavor. My friend got scrapple on a bagel (eeww) but he said it was really good and inhaled it. We really enjoyed the food and service, would like to try lunch next time and possibly the bar for drinks. Lol. It seems like they have completely different menus for each meal which gets kinda confusing. But definitely worth a visit. read more

I wasn't expecting much, but was really blown away by the Spanish omelette (no charge for egg whites!) - which was stuffed with and topped with stewed veggies in a tomato sauce. The potato pancakes (which are more like mini-hash browns) were perfectly crispy on the outside. Overall, my breakfast was delicious, and I would definitely come back again. This review is not about Ponzios food, waitress service, takeout service, and other restaurant features. I have been going to Ponzios for over 50 years, and it would not be fair to be critical of the good people who work there who know my wife and me for a very long time. Neither would it be fair to be critical of the food, which is reasonably good diner food or we would not have patronized the restaurant for as long as we have. However, the experience I suffered affects my customer experience at this restaurant and is relevant when one considers all the factors that make a restaurant a pleasant and enjoyable place to dine. No, this review is about experiences on Christmas Eve with the Ponzios bakery and specifically wit cakes I was supposed to pick up at 11:45 AM for a large party our family was having. Three days prior to Christmas Eve, I went to Ponzios to pick up cakes for this party and a Hanukkah party our family was also hosting. There were no cakes made. The person who took the order put the cakes in for delivery on the day after our first party was to take place. However, since we had a day to spare, we were able to accommodate their error by my returning the next day to pick up the Hanukkah cake, and supposedly by Christmas Eve to pick up the other two cakes. Graciously they offered the Hanukkah cake for free because of the inconvenience. I refused to accept their offer, feeling that they worked to produce the cake, so they should be paid for it. I also left a 20% tip as I always do. Two days later (Christmas Eve) I arrived at the bakery at 11:45 to pick up the other two cakes. The young man who was directing the line of people at the bakery told me that the cakes would be out if 5 or 10 minutes. I said that would be fine. I waited, talked to some of the servers whom I know, and then finally noticed that it was 12:15 on my watch and no cakes were forthcoming. I approached the young man who originally had provided the information to me and asked where my cakes were. He departed for about 5 minutes and then came back and said that they would be out in 5 or 10 minutes. Sounded familiar. So I went to the host desk and spoke to the gentleman I see at least twice a week and told him that this was not acceptable. I was not loud. I was not rude. I certainly am fully capable of being both, but I was not on this occasion. The owner's son who happened to be passing by and heard my complaint told me to get out of "his" restaurant. The owner of Ponzios whom I have known for years is a consummate gentleman. His son evidently fell very far from the tree- maybe into another forest. I told him I already prepaid for the cakes and he said he would get me a refund. When I said that I need the cakes for a party he said that I should have thought of that before I complained and then threatened to call the police. I asked him to please do so, but he evidently thought better of it. I even tried my hand at an apology, if just to get what we had ordered. Didn't work. He instructed that same young man who had given me the faulty progress report on my cakes to issue me a refund. The refund was $14.00 short because of the fact I always leave a tip. In fact the young man sounded incredulous when I told him I also left a tip. Evidently few do for the bakery personnel. He gave me the $14.00. Now I had no cakes for the party with the colors and holiday message my wife had ordered. Since it would have been impossible to get cakes elsewhere at this late time, I snuck back in the bakery line and purchased three smaller cake so I wouldn't disappoint our family. The ignominy of it all- having to purchase cakes from the same jerk who tossed me. Note I am not giving this restaurant a single star because that would not be fair. But I think the owner should know that his son ejected a customer who has literally spent many thousands of dollars in his restaurant and met some very nice people along the way. The young hostess that seated us called me "HONEY" at least twice, I could be her mother or grandmother. Tacky!! I was not amused. My Greek omelette was dry, my dad got a salad that had unripened and hard avocado slices and my husbands Chicken Parmesan was mediocre, I thought it was cold and meat dry. My apple pie al a mode was really sad looking. Just really disappointed with the entire dessert. It's just looked sad full of goop and not many apples. Server was efficient but unfriendly.... Great food and service. I don't leave reviews like this unless there is something extremely good or bad worth noting. As a career server I am naturally critical of service and I am also gluten intolerant which makes eating out more difficult. On Saturday October 15th my mom and I came here and we had the best server. When you go here ask for Krissyanne, especially if you want to feel special and cared for. This establishment doesn't have a gluten free menu, however Krissyanne went the extra mile to accommodate my needs. If you're not gluten intolerant this place has an amazing bakery. I had a burger without a bun and it felt more like eating a steak than a burger. I'm new to the area and decided to try out Ponzio's. Ordered Jumbo Lump Crab Cakes with the Tomato Soup with Raviolini. (Insider tip: this soup is only available every other Wednesday!) All I can say is YUM! I was expecting mediocre diner food, but the seafood was some of the best I've ever had! The soup was incredibly creamy and delicious, too. The meal also came with a bread basket and a basic salad (iceberg lettuce, tomatos, onions). The portions were so large that I had enough for lunch the next day. Lastly, the customer service was great. Our server was attentive, friendly, and informative. The only downfall is that the prices are a little high for a diner. read more

I always say a trip back to Jersey is not complete without visiting Ponzios. Not this time. I was utterly disappointed and let down that a NJ staple, has been run down in more ways then one. To start, we didn't see a a waitress to take our drink order for 15 minutes, which after doing so she then took our menus and said she would come back to take our food order. The french onion soup was still amazing, but the pumpkin was not how I remembered. When coming out with the food, the waitress commented oh I forgot to tell you your food comes with 2 sides and a salad, what would you like? Well to start I would have liked my salad out first if it was part of my meal..Secondly I ordered a sandwich that came with french fries, and not an open-faced sandwich. Not entirely her fault since I may not have worded my sandwich properly, however if you take someone's menu away 5 minutes before you take their order, they might not remember exactly what the correct name of the menu item is. What I do know is I did not want roast beef covered in salty gravy which she described me as "the only difference." Forgot about getting refills or asking if your food was okay. Another sandwich that was part of our order came out completely cold, but since we had to be at the airport an hour and a half later, we really have time to make a big deal out of cold food. I also never completed trip to ponzio's without dessert, it would have been nice if our server asked us if we needed or wanted anything the entire meal. Besides the terrible food and terrible service, what really grinded my gears was the establishment itself! In the bathroom there was trash all over the ladies room floor, and two stalls had no toilet paper in them at all with toilet paper all over the toilet seats. This is cherry hill...people pay money to go here. We come from good places, we may have had a better sanitation down the road in a key lock camden mcdonalds restroom. I went to high school and grew up down the street from this restaurant, and have been going to it for almost 20 years. I couldn't believe how disgusting it became. It went from a well-known restaurant with high quality food, and a packed parking lot; to squished fries and trash all over the floor, and staff standing around looking completely unconcerned. I remember trips to ponzio's with the same servers for years and years they knew the menu front to back and we're very hospitable. Now it seems like they don't even know the menu, let alone care that they're working for gratuity, that at least for me, increases with good service. I did notice one of the main managers or owners there that was always there over the years was present on this lovely Saturday afternoon. My only hope is that my experience is not the same experience people have on a daily basis shift after shift. If so they need to get rid of the staff they have, and show an interest in their restaurant. During the holiday season Ponzios always had displays of their holiday menus, desserts, and specials at the to go and check out counters. Both were empty. Step it up Ponzio's. If you don't I doubt most of Jersey and Philly won't be flocking through your doors for a 70+ dollar meal for 3 if the servers cant't get an order right. I returned to South Jersey recently, where I grew up, and I was determined to show my daughter a real New Jersey diner. I invited some high school friends along, and Ponzio's did not disappoint. The waitress was hilarious (Liz, I think?) and full of South Jersey warmth. Everyone in the restaurant was super nice and didn't seemed phased by a group of loud, middle-aged Pennsauken High School graduates. The food: A couple of us ordered salads, which, of course, were enormous. Mine came with pecan-crusted chicken and was delicious. Someone ordered an omelet, which came with a pile of potatoes and looked fantastic. Also on our table: a chicken club sandwich the size of Rhode island, a couple of burgers, fried green tomatoes, chocolate chip pancakes (yum!), and snapper soup (which our waitress tried to talk us out of in solidarity with her two turtles). The bread bowl was great -- full of all different kinds of cheesy and cinnamony goodness. You won't go hungry here! Horrible and overpriced. Bartender/server was very rude. She was more interested in talking to other guests about how drunk one of her other clients were rather than asking about what my fiancé and I wanted to order. She brought over our food and left it in the corner for us and immediately after brought over the bill and left it. She never asked if we wanted anything else. She basically made us feel unwelcome and sad we ever arrived there in the first place. All we wanted was some dessert and wine to put a nice happy ending to our night. I have had less than pleasant experiences at Ponzio's two times in the past few months, which is disappointing because I had heard good things. Unfortunately, I can't comment on the food considering I left before even ordering anything, but I am writing this review about the customer service and menu options. The first time I came to Ponzio's was a couple of months ago with a friend. I am a big fan of all day breakfast offerings that diners typically have, and checked out their website before I made the drive from Philadelphia. The eggs benedict options they had listed online were calling my name, so my friend and I decided to head over on a Saturday to check it out. When we arrived, we were seated pretty quickly. I ordered an iced coffee, and my friend ordered a water. As we looked through the menus we were given, we noticed there was only a small section on the back for breakfast. It consisted of a couple of basic omelette options, some pancakes and a few other things. When our waitress returned with our drinks, I asked if we could see the larger breakfast menu they had. She said that the menu they gave us was all they had, which was clearly not true by looking at the website. I explained that I saw a much larger menu on the website, and she said that menu "stopped at 2pm". It was probably around 2:45pm at that point, so we thought it over and decided to come back a different time. I paid for my iced coffee and we left. This past Saturday, my same friend and I decided to try again and be sure to arrive before 2pm. We arrived at noon and were seated promptly. When we sat down, my friend and I exchanged a confused look after both realizing that we were given the same menu as last time. The waitress came over with waters for both of us, and my friend asked if there was a larger breakfast menu we could see. Her response was an apathetic "no". I then pulled out my phone to show her the menu posted online, and was rudely told "that menu stops at 11am". She said that all they had was the tiny breakfast section on the back of the lunch menu, but they could "probably" do waffles if we wanted. Uh, what? Its pretty common practice for diners to have breakfast served all day, and even if not, does your waffle maker stop working at 11:01am? We were told they had their full menu before 2pm, so we went at noon and were again told we couldn't order what we wanted. We were made to feel like a burden for even wasting their time to ask about it, which seems kind of backwards to me considering I am trying to give you my patronage. We did not hesitate to walk out following this encounter. I noticed after looking more closely that the menu shown online did not have ANY times listed for their extended breakfast menu, which I would take to mean you can order all day. It just says "Weekend and Holiday specials" above where the eggs benedict options are listed. I went to Ponzio's on a Saturday both times, which I classify as being on the weekend. I won't be back due to the poor customer service and the difficulty I had trying to order food they claim to serve on their website. read more

No longer do they have eggplant fries or snickers cake. I had the souvlaki salad...hair in the salad and chicken kebabs were raw inside. The dressing is made with vegetable oil...don't order this....waitress wasn't great. Manager offered to remake the meal or give me dessert but I just had him Not charge me...didn't want anything from the kitchen at that point. My husband had short rib stew which was delicious but not well priced at $17.00. There may be better options in this area. read more

Despite living here for over 20 years, I didn't experience Ponzio's until three years ago (I thought it was just another diner!) , but ever since I've been a fan. Basically you can close your eyes, open the menu and point to any item and order it knowing your taste buds will be treated. Yesterday I had just the regular French Toast for breakfast and all I can say is: "Wow". Even if you don't want a meal, the bakery has incredibly impressive treats and is worth a visit. There are many different rooms where you can be seated, ranging from diner-style booths to very nice dining rooms. Be sure to specify if you want a quiet place or one more suited to families with small children, although they are usually quite good at "reading" people's needs. read more

I haven't been to a diner type setting in years but I was in the area with a colleague who apparently came here a lot when he used to live in Jersey. So for nostalgia's sake we stepped in. The inside is very large surprisingly and looked clean. Staff were nice. Walking in your are greeted by a large display of sweets and dessert type items. It was around 230pm and place wasn't too crowded. A lot of the "early bird special" type crowd. . I had turtle soup and colleagues had breakfast food which they loved. My turtle soup left a lot to be desired. I didn't enjoy it. Luckily I already ate lunch elsewhere. I never had turtle soup before BUT from what I have seen on food network & the likes, this wasn't similar. Ponzio's Diner-Bakery-Bar has been around for over 50 years and most Cherry Hill residents from the east side or the not east side have been there once or at least heard of it. The latter is especially true with their 50th anniversary advertisements all along Route 70. It used to be my family's go-to spot when I was younger, until we simply discovered places existed beyond Cherry Hill. The parking is spacious and when you enter Ponzio's, you'll be in sight of a bar, two dining areas (named after Cherry Hill developments), and their bakery, which branches off into Shoprite bakeries (or used to). We went yesterday for father's day and were seated in the Ellisburg area. After stuffing my face earlier on end of school year presents, I wasn't really hungry and ordered my usual - a chicken parm sandwich ($10.59). My dad ordered the stuffed flounder ($19.99) and my mom ordered the broiled tilapia ($16.99). Those three prices aren't what you'd call cheap diner prices, but once you order, they drop off their slightly famous bread baskets which balance it out. These baskets are placed carefully in the basket by a master bread-basket designer and include fresh cinnamon swirl bread, cheese filled rolls, biscuits, and rye bread. The cheese rolls and the cinnamon swirl bread are so good and come with tons of free calories to offset the prices. My parents were both happy with their meals, which looked good and I have eaten in the past. The sizes were appropriate, with the stuffed flounder coming with a bowl of pasta and salad, and the broiled tilapia coming with salad alone. I wasn't as happy with my chicken parm sandwich. The chicken parm was good, but the roll was very overwhelming. I don't really like having a slab of chicken on a thick and circular kaiser roll; it also got very greasy and the chicken slid around in all directions. The waiter and other staff was friendly and the bill (with tip) came to $62 for the three entrees. Overall, it's a pretty good choice of where to go out for dinner, and leaves the option on your way out to grab something at the bakery to take home. read more

Love their onion soup and for the most part the food is good. I would have given the place 5 stars if the employees were required to wear masks. Our server was excellent. I'm so disappointed in this company's policies regarding Covid. The staff is allowed to choose or not choose to wear masks. Everyone uses the same salt and pepper shaker. They do however have the menu on placements so at least we are not handling what others handle, that's a plus. I was told that masking was not required because all of their staff is vaccinated. However, that does not keep them or the customers safe. I know of several people who caught Covid from a vaccinated person and they then passed it on to others who were also vaccinated. The Delta variant of Covid is highly contagious. I, for one, will not go to Ponzio's until they change their Covid policies. There are other restaurants out there who seriously consider the health of their diners. Ponzio's should show that concern as well. read more

Went there on 7/5 first time ever. Had delicious Liam bean soup and a cheesestk which was delicious however the fries were lousy. When I told the the waitress that I'd like an extra pickle she says well maybe you should buy a whole side of coleslaw if you like it so much when you serve soup you need to serve it with crackers I had to ask her to go get me crackers I had asked for a lemon in my diet soda which I did not receive I had asked for a steak knife with my cheese steak which I did not get when I told her that the fries were lousy she said well next time you won't order them she was a little Hasty but however I did understand her response being in the business for almost 40 years. My bestie had been talking about Ponzio's since earlier this year. She raved about the French Onion "crock." She said that the cupcakes were great (well, she said it more like Tony the Tiger "GGGGRrrrrreaaaat!!!) I simply told her that if it's that good, we gotta go. So, on Friday with my bestie and her cousin & her little family in tow, to Ponzio's we went for dinner. The atmosphere is very much a family dining diner kind of place. But it is much bigger than I expected. They had rooms and space to the side for parties, I guess. It was very nicely decorated with smiling snowmen all over for the holiday. And when you walk in, the bakery smacks you in the face with a wonderfully "confectionate" "hello!" Cookies, cakes, cupcakes, fruit tarts, braids ... what didn't they have? The menu is pretty big, and has a lot of selections. No worries, check out the special of the day if you want to try something! They have one of each for each day of the week: appetizer, soup, entree, and dessert. Part of my order came from the specials menu. Yay that the french onion crock was on special. The soup was awesome, y'all yelpers out there: onion-y, cheesy, brothy, and the bread cubes crunchy! Yum Yum. Plus, the crock is more like a bowl size crock, so french onion soup-y-ness a-plenty. I then ordered what was called the Alaina salad. (see photo!). The chicken was crispy (like General Tso's chicken bites) with this amazing barbeque sauce slathered on it that made a happy dance in my mouth! The rest of the salad was fresh and yummy. I didn't even need the ranch dressing that come with it--I was in love w the bbq chicken sauce so much that it was like a deconstructed bbq chicken BLT party on a plate (Ranch who?). As for dessert, the special was Red Velvet Cheesecake ... it was so big, I had to celebrate the Eagles win yesterday by devouring half, the other half patiently waiting. Trust me, if you like cheesecake, red velvet cake, and chocolate, this slice of heaven is the one for you. I also bought some cookies, a tree for me, a stocking for my bestie, and boy oh boy I felt like a kid again eating that huge cookie ... something about the icing on it was just delicious! And, I couldn't leave w/o getting a few cupcakes for the loved ones ... I quite enjoyed the food, Yelpers. I would recommend to have lunch or dinner, and make sure you check out the specials. Who lives in the area and hasn't been to Ponzio's? There are a meet-up diner. There aren't many places in Cherry Hill where you can say meet me here...and people don't say "where." The food is consistent. They just did a slight mini-makeover to their menu; however, I think they could have done more to add more variety to their dishes. Moreover, they do not offer gluten free bread. It is 2018. However, my biggest pet peeve is their inability to add a small cup of fruit to a breakfast order. I have zero problems paying an up charge. I do not always want a large bowl of fruit to go with my eggs. Still, there food is good. I cannot remember having a bad meal. Much of the waitstaff has been there for a long time. I know many of them. That is one of the positives of Ponzio's. They usually have good people and when they don't--that person is usually gone. If you like baked goods--then you would give Ponzio's a five star rating. I have never had anything from the bakery that was not excellent. I was here for opening day in 1964 as my grandmother took us here for dinner. Still good solid food 50+ years later, and it is run by the same family. Great cinnamon buns; my wife and I split one, all warm from the grill. I live in California now, and miss the New Jersey diners. read more

AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE. Omg-what a lousy place. Terrible, overcooked and overpriced food with a management team that is numb and removed from reality. I know this place has always been busy but they need to wake up and look around. They are so full of themselves and by comparison make every other diner look great. The manager owner has a serious case of Napoleon Complex as well. The only bright spot are the servers who all look as though they are working under extreme circumstances and stressful conditions.....AVOID AT ALL COSTS. I'd say Ponzio's is a half step above a basic bitch diner. I say this because there are a lot more options and it's a bigger operation than most. I have been here twice, and both times were not without their issues. First time was kinda late at night, but it's a diner so who cares! All I heard about from my friend was how great the bread was. Well, it might be great, but I wouldn't know because it was too late for bread baskets? If that's the case, offer a late night menu that doesn't mention anything about delicious bread. Oh well. Second time, I ordered tomato soup and a grilled cheese. Innocuous enough, right? However, I choked on a shard of plastic in my soup. The restaurant at least didn't give me any trouble about taking the soup off the bill. And despite the molten plastic, the soup was actually really good! As was the grilled cheese. Like most diners, I'm not going out of my way to return, but I probably will out of convenience at some point. read more
