We came here before a concert and how have we never been here before??? It is fairly small but we had a reservation so we sat down immediately! Our server was awesome, the service was almost too quick!! We got our meal out with our appetizers. Not my preference but it is ok because the quality of food was to die for!! We started with the caprese and the crudo fig honey bruschetta. I loved the bruschetta, the caprese was totally normal average good. For dinner I ordered the gramigna boscailola. HOLY MOLY so dang good!! Like food coma cannot stop eating it good!! Worth the drive to phoenix just for this dish!! My husband got the principe pizza and he added sausage. Came here for lunch mid-week and was seated right away. Overall, food was great and had a good time. I wouldn't go out of my way to come here, but if you need a lunch spot in the area, I'd recommend it. The service really wasn't great - our server came over, mumbled something as she got her pad out, then suddenly left to go to another table as we started ordering drinks. Food is always solid, but maybe slightly overpriced. Gelato bar is cool and definitely worth checking out if that's your thing. Last time I went in my waitress was definitely under the influence and extremely forgetful, which i usually only encounter at drive throughs and bars, so I was a bit disappointed last time around. First time eating here, first time at Phoenix. They were getting pretty packed at 6pm but we had a reservation so got seated right away. They had amazing variety of pizza/pasta. The only thing I didn't like was that the pizza itself was a little soggy because it was thin crust. However the crust itself was great. It's very loud inside and a bit chaotic. I think it would be okay for medium groups as the place itself is pretty small. It has some good outdoor seating as well. read more

What a great way to spend Friday night. We made a reservation ahead of time and when we arrived, were quickly seated. We got a great seat outside right next to the live music. What a great atmosphere! My only small complaint was their fryer was broken, and apparently had been for weeks so we were slightly limited on what appetizers we could choose from. We went with the eggplant and we're not disappointed. It was not breaded or fried but so fresh and delicious tasting. We added some fresh bread to it, and used every slice to soak up the extra sauce. Two stars for the pizza. Little to no sauce and cheese, flavor lacking. White onions and not caramelized is strange on a pizza. The Fig and Honey appetizer was not as stated on menu. A slice of sourdough bread, cream cheese, 3 figs and a honey drizzle. My have been good if the bread was toasted and they use mascarpone cheese. The best part of our experience was the manager "Les" and the waitress " Ainsley" Les was very accommodating after we alerted him to our dissatisfaction with the food and took care of the bill and offered us another selection but we opted for some gelato which was excellent! I ordered the "Gnocchi Sorrentina" which has potato gnocchi with tomato sauce, a hefty amount of mozzarella (my favorite part), parmigiano, and basil (very light amount). This was around $15. Then for dessert I had their signature flavor of gelato, "Luna" which has pistachio, caramel, and dark chocolate - tasted divine. The 1 scoop of gelato is $4. I actually enjoyed the gelato more than the pasta so I'll be back for that. They also have other gelato flavors, as well as sorbets, and a pleasantly large dessert and coffee menu! Service was great! Kelly was my server and she was wonderful and checked on me from time to time. I was informed by the manager that for parking, there is the "705 N 1st" lot for Pomo (SE corner, inside ASU lot). After 5pm, Pomo customers can use the AFMA parking lot, next to the ASU lot. Both of these parking lots are behind the Pomo building, at 2nd street and Pierce. read more

This was a Saturday lunch date, and it was amazing! We were looking to go to a place we hadn't gone to before, and we were in the mood for Italian. Soooo glad we found POMO! We made a reservation to be on the safe side, (we all know weekends anywhere a place can get packed quickly!) but when we arrived it wasn't crazy busy. We were seated inside quickly, and the place was very cozy with red pleather seating and tons of framed picture and an open view kitchen and big bar. We ordered a margherita pizza, one pasta dish, the Pomodoro bruschetta, a charcuterie board, and for dessert the tiramisu. Each dish was just stunning. Incredibly tasty, fresh, you really can't go wrong here. I'm usually disappointed by a lot of places charcuterie boards but POMO had some really great picks that paired very well together and it was a fair value. The pasta was INCREDIBLE, and you could tell was made with love and cooked perfectly. The pizza was perfectly thin crust and it has that beautiful taste only their kind of oven could make. (Also this might be random but the iced tea here was very refreshing and light!) Also, don't skimp on dessert whether it be the tiramisu like we had, or the gelato or Panacotta. Our tiramisu was out of this world and the gelato we saw looked so refreshing. read more

Excellent food. We were going to try Pizzeria Bianco, but their line was 3-4 hours long. So we ended coming to Pomo in Phoenix AZ instead. Great service, yummy food. Loved their pizza and pasta. Friendly and attentive waitress. We thought we had ordered a 4 FORMAGGI PIZZA but actually got the BURRATELLA pizza instead and the GRAMIGNA BOSCAIOLA. The pizza crust was really nice and did not turn into a hard mess. It stayed nice and easy to chew on even after the crust turned cold. The balance of the cheese with everything else in the pizza was superb. Nothing overpowered another ingredient in the mix. The middle of the pizza was not soggy. We were in pizza heaven. The pasta looked like little worms. The dish is a mixture of creamy sausage sauce, cremini mushroom, parmigiano; according to the menu, the dish is AZ Central Top 10 Restaurant Dish. Though it is made of a creamy sauce, it is not too creamy to be too rich to taste. Glad that I ordered this dish. The waitress says that this is their signature dish unlike Lasagna that is served in most Italian restaurants. Brava to Pomo for beating out Pizza Bianco in our gastro journey. The salad had a significant amount of rotten lettuce in it and had to be sent back. The pizza arrived cold and with soggy crust. The calamari appetizer was good, but I did not enjoy the other bruschetta appetizer we ordered. The service was very poor. I love Pomo! It's downtown, the happy hour is incredible, and it's got a cute little patio. There are a lot of pros including easy to find parking and price. The day I went it seemed the restaurant was really understaffed. The service was really slow to no fault of the staff. When we looked inside (we were on the patio) there was ONE bartender for a full bar and patio. I felt bad for the guy! We weren't in a hurry so the service was fine and I don't blame the staff as they can't be omnipresent. However, if you're in a hurry this might not be the best place to go. read more

Pomo has the best gluten-free pizza. The crust has a bit of both wood fired char and chew to it, while the ingredients are high quality and fresh. I like that their dough and sauce is not salty, the true flavors come right out at you. The veggie pizza is loaded with eggplant, roasted red pepper, fresh basil (would have liked even more basil), plus other goodies. Save room for some of the best gelato in town, extremely creamy. The passion fruit is one of my favorites with not just the standard seeds but large pieces of chewy fruit giving it a complex texture. It was soo thin and slimmy that it was impossible to hold up to eat and I had to eat with a fork.I could only eat one slice before getting the check and going somewhere else to eat. Decided to come here for a last minute dinner outing and am so glad I did! The space itself is a little small and can be crowded when busy (as it often seems to be) but it's not bothersome. Even though they were really busy, our server was great and very attentive to our table, frequently checking in appropriately. Everything on the menu sounded delicious and you can see the wood fired pizzas being made right behind the counter. Authentic Italian, for sure. Drink options were plentiful - we opted for the Zenzero and the Porpora cocktails. They both were very unique and strong! We loved them both. For food we got the Fritto Misto, Mediterranea Bruschette, Gramigna Boscaiola Pasta, Don Alfonso and Quattro Stagioni pizzas. The pasta was absolutely incredible and the others seemed to really enjoy their pizzas. Along with parmesan and pepper flakes that they bring to the table, they also have a chili oil which I really liked. Gluten free options. Not just salad but the most incredible pasta I have ever had, and they have pizzas too. My mom is allergic to gluten and dairy, and they were able to accommodate that as well with GF vegan pizza options. My non-gluten free family and friends enjoy it here just as much as I do - it's incredible for everybody. My favorite food. The gelato is lovely as well. We ate lunch here after finding it on Yelp and it was a close walk from our hotel. Our server Zoe was very helpful with great insight into the dishes. Our kids had a margarita pizza and devoured it. One of our kids had butter noodles with penne and said it was good. My wife who has to eat gluten free had a gluten free pizza which she said was one of the best she's ever had. I don't usually go to Italian restaurants but going here I don't regret it! I tried the Gramigna homemade pasta and it was really tasty! I also tried an appetizer that came w/ shrimp (I forgot the name of it) it was also very good, definitely would recommend them both. And the service was great as well!
