My friends and I went there for lunch and had a great time. The patio is nice and has a great ambiance. Being vegan, I was concerned there would not be many options but the server was very helpful and accommodating. They have vegan cheese so I got a pizza with vegan cheese, mushrooms and onions. I also got the chopped salad with no feta. Both were fresh and delicious. The crust on the pizza was crispy and chewy - authentic. The salad had fresh avocado and they did not skimp on the avocado! Ended up at Pomo on a Sunday at 5:30 pm because the wait at Pizzeria Bianco was 2 hours. Luckily I was able to grab a last minute reservation through Yelp/Open Table so was seated a few minutes after I arrived at Pomo despite it being very busy. Got the principe pizza and the gramigna boscaiola pasta. Both were deeelish and would highly recommend trying them out! The pizza was perfection as all Napoli pizzas are .. chewy crust, thin center, fresh tomato sauce, perfectly salty prosciutto and a nice fresh peppery arugula to top it all off. The pasta was unlike any other pasta I've ever had before and it was so good. The pasta had an umami but meaty flavor from the sauce but at the same time wasn't too salty. San Diego is known for Italian food but I gotta say the pizza here was much better than the ones I've tried in SD. We also spent our honeymoon in Italy last year eating pizza every single day. The pizza at Pomo is comparable to the ones we've had there! I've been thinking about their pizza since we left phoenix and only wished there was one near me. I got the BUFALA VERACE pizza. I liked it but it felt like a thick layer of cheese. I think i would get the margherita if i was to go back hoping for more tomatoey but that's preference. The crust was AMAZING. Their panna cotta was SO good. I highly recommend! They also have espressos for after dinner! Bonus! It felt like we were back in Italy ! I also liked it was dog friendly on the patio. The downside is that it's next to a bar and people were smoking right nearby at the bar patio so every bite of my pizza had a side of cigarette taste which kinda sucked. Each pizza is also HUGE and is more than enough for 1 person! Our waiter was super nice and personable, but we came here after hearing great things about the espresso martinis which were below average during our trip (super watered down and not very flavorful despite ordering one of every speciality flavor). I went here last night with a group from work. We had a 7:30 reservation and when we showed up at 7:20, were seated right away. I got the sausage and mushroom pizza along with the Luna gelato. The pizza was delicious, but a little soggy. I had to use a fork and knife to eat it. The gelato was amazing! The service is the reason for four stars instead of five. It was slow and our server, although very nice, wasn't very attentive. I never got a refill of my drink, even after asking. All in all, it was a decent experience with good food. This is always a winner for me. The pizza is delicious, and the service is very good. I especially love sitting on their outdoor patio, which has such a nice urban cafe vibe. I've tried a few pizzas, and they were always good. I also love the spicy oil they serve with them. They have vegan options and gluten free options, so there is something for everyone. Really, though, what sets Pomo apart is their specials, specifically happy hour. Happy hour features cheap apps, as well as HALF OFF anything on the drink menu. They have an absolutely fabulous Montepulciano wine that is only $5 on happy hour. I can see this becoming my go-to happy hour spot, plus it is a nice place to take family or guests for a meal. read more

I'd like to preface this by saying that the staff here is amazing. Two months ago I would have rated this place 5 stars- no question. We've always had exemplary service from bar, service, and kitchen staff. That being said, this restaurant has changed for the worst over these last couple months. We used to be regulars here, visiting 3-4 days per week. However, a few weeks ago they changed their menu entirely. The salads are smaller with fewer toppings, the cocktails aren't as good, portions are smaller in general, and the staff appears stressed all the time now. They used to have the best happy hour in downtown, but now they charge more money for lower quality food and drinks. When you change your restaurant patrons expect it to change for the better, but this place definitely did not. My husband and I saw this place when we came out of a wonderful Mexican restaurant next door. We vowed to come back since we love both pizza and pasta . We came at a descent time so we were seated right away. We asked to be seated inside because there were people smoking outside and I can't stand smoke and we won't be able to enjoy food. The menu was short but our server Briana H. was kind enough to explain the menu to us since we are not locals. 6:30 I ordered the Pomo house wine and then she came back for our other orders. That's a long wait. So after we had our salad, we had to wait on our entrees. Tiktok. The vibe was Ok. While waiting, we were looking around, The mural on the wall was nice. The staff seemed like they were always busy. They make their own pizza right infront of you. See, that's the thing, We believed that they are more focused on the pizza making, delivery and takeout. OMG, what a mess this experience was. We were expecting so much more from this place. We told Brianna too in the beginning that we've never had a bad Italian food before. This was a nightmare! To "make us feel better" , they took the lasagna off the bill and offered free gelato. In all honesty, I had a bad stomach about how things were handled. the floor manager ran and hid away never to be seen until a few minutes before we left. Dead Fly in Glass of Wine! I've been to POMO dozens of times with great food and experience. Snotty server Jack G was aggravated we moved tables and split checks. Not the first time he plays nice to customers faces yet goes away to complain and makes jokes about customers with other staff. Pomo has such a great location downtown! I would highly recommend getting the Milo Italiano - this is my absolute new favorite Moscow mule in Phoenix! My friends got the tiramisu espresso martini, which was fantastic and then the Aperol spritz - this one was just decent. We split the Buffalo Verace and Burratella pizzas. Since my last visit to Pomo, the menu and specials have changed, I would say drastically. Gone is the beloved reverse happy hour. I used to love the Pioggia and Fiore drinks on their normal happy hour menu, but they're also gone and have been replaced with other drinks that aren't appealing to me. There's a whole new area of the drink menu dedicated to espresso martinis. Their Mulo is now the "Mulo Italiano" with some ingredient changes. I was also pretty sad to see that their calamari appetizer was removed from the menu. I opted for their Fresca drink, and it tasted good but the passionfruit drink is very similar to something I can get for cheaper somewhere else downtown. I probably won't be coming back here but I'll certainly see their old menu as an enjoyable memory... read more

I did not eat here, so this review is based on my experience with the manager while making the appointment. I tried to make a reservation for 11 people (8 adults and 3 kids) but it can't be done online, so I spoke with the manager. He said we had to have a minimum of $40 per person. We don't drinks, and pizzas are only $15, so I asked him how we were supposed to reach the ridiculous $40/person minimum. Even if we split a pizza between 2 people and salads and apps, we still couldn't each that. We made a reservation for 8 and then one for 3, and were going to split up at dinner, however Cibo was a lot more realistic and accommodating so we canceled our reservations here and decided to eat at Cibo. It's ridiculous that they have availability for a table or 8 and a table or 3, and we don't have to have a minimum, however if we all wanted to sit at the same table we need a minimum. Horrible on the managers part for such a request. read more
