Half and half - grilled and fried box
    Megan P.

They are delicious and sometimes have the grilled chicken available, but it's not always guaranteed. It is likely that they've run out of the popular sides like Mac and cheese by around 7 pm. All in all - it's good, but the item availability and their unusual horchata (it tasted like peanuts) will keep us putting this lower on our list of go-to's when we are in town.

I had big expectations about this place because one of a fellow yelper said it is great, so i had to try it. Unfortunately maybe It was not the best day. Service was fast. Inside was clean well lit and organized. Something is off with the setting they seem not super comfortable on the booths. Anyhow so far we are still 5 star. On the other hand, Let's talk about food chicken was extremely greasy and fries were just sad, so we are back to 3 Stars I will definitely come and try again, as you should as well

The drive to Kyle is worth it!! Pollo campero is comfort food for us and it never disappoints. The chicken is seasoned to perfection and crispy. The yuca fries were good and the plantains were cooked perfectly. We ate so fast I forgot to take a picture. Honestly one of our favorite places for chicken.

It was my first time trying this Guatemalan chain restaurant, which (dare I say) is better than Chick-fil-A! They offer chicken sandwiches with choice of side dishes. I got spicy chicken with plantains and yuca fries. The sauce tastes so similar to Chick-fil-A sauce. The staff is so friendly-they were able to answer our questions on the food. In addition to typical soda, they also offer mango, hibiscus, and horchata drinks. The food is like fast food but the inside of the restaurant is so clean and you don't have to clean up yourself! It has a drive thru.

Let me start off by saying I really wanted this place to be successful because I know how good they can be. I've had the chance to first try it in Guatemala when we were on vacation visiting my hubby's family and everything was sooo good. The plantains were my favorite and the chicken excellent. We came the first time to this location when they had the grand opening. They had a wheel you can spin for prizes and they were giving out samples of their drinks like horchata. We knew we would be waiting a while. There was ALOT of people. The staff was keeping up and they were serving with smiles. The chicken and rolls are good. We tried to have a little bit of everything but those two were my focus. The place is set up like a fast food joint with a drive thru and they have an app to earn rewards and order with the app. I would say give it a chance and go from there.

We were excited to try this new place in Kyle. We waited a while to give them a chance to work out the bugs ... Well, gotta say, pretty disappointed. First we had to wait more than 20 minutes for our food. The grilled chicken was extremely dry. The beans taste like ranch style beans. And they no longer have mashed potatoes ... after they just started here!! The mac n cheese was okay, but a little clumpy. The fried chicken wasn't bad and the rolls were really good. Those two things are the only reason this place gets 3 stars. Otherwise I'd give it 1 star.

Although I dislike leaving bad reviews, I have to be honest. My husband loves rotisserie chicken and was excited when he learned that Pollo Campero was going to be close. He thought he found his local fix, however he was mistaken. The drive through was empty so I checked the reviews. They were bad but Hubby still wanted to give it a try. We bought a 4 piece mix, fried and baked (that's what I call it) with coleslaw and rice. The chicken was dry. The fried chicken had a seasoning on it that I found overwhelming. The slaw was soupy, way too wet for us, and the rice was ok. Overall, we will not be back. I hope they are able to change their recipes or something to improve their food.

I was in Kyle for an appointment and noticed this new restaurant, so I thought I'd try it. The drive-thru line didn't seem that long but the wait was a bit longer than expected. I almost got out of the line but couldn't. The line eventually moved and it wasn't too long after that when I reached the window. I ordered the Campero chicken bowl. It was ok. Not horrible but nothing to bring me back. The portion of chicken was generous. I definitely couldn't finish the bowl. It could use more cheese and some sauce. Pinto beans are typically a bit mushy, so it was a little odd in a bowl. The "avocado" was definitely a mix of other ingredients. Tasted fine, though. I read reviews while waiting in line. It is fairly new, so it might take some time for staff to get adjusted and trained. I also read their fried chicken is really good. If it's like the chicken in the bowl I can see why. This chicken patty was well seasoned and crispy. A little confused and disappointed that the chicken patty "contains pork" but it is clearly stated on the menu. The young lady at the window was ok. She was busy, no complaints.

Pollo Campero always seems to have a line of cars so we've avoided it, but had heard good things from this Guatemalan born recent addition to Kyle's restaurant landscape. After a trip to Costco the family and I decided to grab a late lunch and there wasn't a big line so it was the perfect time. We went inside but we ordered to go. We got the 8 piece dinner (enough for 4) and split the chicken half fried and half grilled. It was off peak time (2:30p) but the restaurant was pretty full. We were 3rd in line to order. Waited about 10 minutes for our order. The chicken was really good. Juicy and flavorful. The grilled had a nice lemon-peppery zing. The fried had a good crispy skin. Yuca fries are stout and filling. Just 2-3 suffice. Plantains were a nice sweet dessert-like end to the meal. Feeding a family of 4 for under $30. We will be back.

For those with allergies please beware!! Their HORCHATA has PEANUTS !! Their website says tree nuts and milk But Not all Horchatas are the same as most people know Horchatas from Mexico is made of (rice milk and sugar and cinnamon). This is a Central American chain and the horchata is different. Unfortunately my little nephew had an allergic reaction to taking a few sips of his horchata drink.he is ONLY allergic to peanuts . Central American Horchata is made with spices and nuts and PEANUTs Their website didn't state that so just wanted to let any other readers thinking of going here to just know this. It was a scary Sunday evening at the hospital. And I did alert their manager and corporate to update this information ! But who knows how long that will take. So Consumers must know! Our Drive thru order was cold they forgot beans and plantains in my meal order and dips for sandwiches. So not sure if it's worth the hype . Check your drive through orders and make sure they r accurate before driving off it's a pain when u get home and see that food is missing and you are charged .

Food was very flavorful AND served on an actual plate, not plastic or foam. The service was great n friendly. The ambiance was family oriented n calm. Very good place for great food.

Fried chicken items are always fresh, juicy, and crispy. The delivery lady was nice and exceptional customer services. Missing chicken items. Overall, this campero is above my expectation. The female manager resolved the problems by offering me two extra pieces of fried chicken.

Watching the chefs work up close adds so much to the experience and really highlights the care and skill that goes into every dish. We started with the morita shrimp appetizer, then had the short rib special and the half chicken. Every bite was packed with flavor- the food is consistently incredible. What really sets Ember apart, though, is the service. It's consistently warm, attentive, and perfectly timed without ever feeling overbearing. Overall, I…read morethink Ember Kitchen is certainly worth checking out, but I think I might order a little differently next time. First off - parking is convenient in the Seaholm parking garage. My understanding is that Ember will validate, but it wasn't apparent to me how that works and honestly I walked out forgetting it and having to pay the bill for parking - oh well. I came with a party of six and we were celebrating a birthday. The team at Ember was very accommodating. We were seated downstairs in their "Speakeasy" room. It's a bit dark, but cool atmosphere. There are other dining options if you prefer a bit brighter setting. We were served complimentary birthday shots! These were quite tasty - enough so that I ordered another round of those citrus based shooters. Everyone at the table ordered a cocktail. Nearly all the cocktails on the menu are going to be served in a feminine looking glass and with a flower. The cocktail menu is pretty much for the ladies. On the bright side, they have a good selection of bourbons, tequila, etc available for straight pours at a decent price. Not extensive selection, but I think a good choice - enough that I think you will find something to fit your price point and taste profile. Our waitress was top notch. Very attentive and paid close attention to the orders from our gluten sensitive guest ensuring she ordered safely. We ordered a couple small plates as appetizers for the whole table. Everyone loved the crab cake. I thought it was tasty but wasn't expecting whole kernel corn in a crab cake so that threw me off a little. Market seafood crudo - this is a fish appetizer and as the name implies changes based on availability. The night we ate was a Hamachi or Salmon option. The salmon had a bit more of a spicy sauce so we chose that. It was a hit. We also chose a tuna tartare and it was fresh, good but didn't knock our socks off. When ready for the main course - our waitress had a number of off-menu specials to tell us about and honestly many were very interesting options. In fact, we chose to split a 50oz Tomahawk steak. This was a huge steak plated on a hot platter, already sliced off the bone with some fingerling potatoes. This was honestly the most expensive part of the meal (no surprise), but also the least impressive. Now visually it was a spectacle for sure, but the meat certainly had pieces that were tough with some large pieces of fat. Now I don't mind the fat, but when sliced there were a couple pieces that were nothing but fat, other pieces still that were mostly gristle. We all agreed the seasoning was just missing, it seemed to have no seasoning at all. It was also quite charred. One of the claims to fame here is their Josper oven and clearly it can put a good char on a steak. Some in our party liked it, but I thought it was a bit much. There can be fine line between a good steak crust and a burnt crust. I thought it was a bit much, and maybe why the seasoning seemed missing. On the bright side, it was cooked correctly to order. My only problem was, for the price, this was a complete miss. We also ordered scallops and the morida shrimp. Both were excellent. These were probably worth coming back for. The morida shrimp come served in a bowl with a rich sauce that was enjoyed by the whole party. The scallops come pan seared and were cooked perfectly - which is key to enjoying a good scallop. Be aware that the typical order of scallops though comes with only two scallops - rather light even for a single individual, because these were not on the "small plates" menu, it was supposed to be a full entree. Great experience overall, but we just felt not quite worth what we had to pay for it. Overall, it was just over $150 per person. What could have saved it - for that price, the steak HAS to be on point.

The pupusas -- masa flour tortillas with filling -- were so large that the three made up my lunch and dinner. There's both red and green, and both have a very nice burn, which is more intense than one might be used to from, say, a Tex-Mex restaurant. It likewise comes with a lovely curtido (shredded cabbage, jalapeño, and onion), and when put on the pupusa with the sauce, the effect is *sublime.* My spouse shared her fried plantains with crema, which were likewise delicious. The plantains were sweet, beans were salty, and the crema just the right hint of sour. Again, this plate alone would make a great meal. Mr R tried three vegetarian pupusas, all of which include cheese--spinach, mushroom, and jalapeño. There was also squash and squash blossom available (I think, menu says loroco) which I REALLY want to try. That lovely curtido/slaw on the side was much appreciated. This was one of those times where I felt I had to remind him more than once to chew, he was shoveling it down so fast in glee. In case you crave some heat, they included a few red and green salsas lovingly packaged in their own bags which I seldom see. Both the red and green were pretty warm, we agreed on that. Start cautiously and increase if needed. Also grabbed a lime jarritos (we're adjusting to Mr R's diagnosis forbidding high fructose corn syrup and fruit juice, so are extra grateful for the choice) which was the exact right flavor to have alongside this table. Definitely want to come try more of this menu.

Casa Colombia does a good job replicating a true Colombian dining experience. Their menu is extensive with some very interesting offerings. Scanning the dining room, I noticed that their portions are huge. We started with a shrimp cocktail, an empanada, and their version of a rum - mango martini. The small option for the shrimp cocktail was bountiful and easily shared. The housemade cocktail sauce was a perfect accompaniment. The empanada was a tad dry, but their spicy salsa sauce was a great addition. Our "martini" was sweet but very satisfying on a warm afternoon. We did want to try their ceviche, but they are using tilapia as their fish. Quality Seafood is not too far away, and I'm sure that they could offer a better-tasting white fish than plain ole tilapia. We split one of their house specials, the Bandeja Paisa Tipica. This is a traditional Colombian dish, and it is a meat lover's dream served on an oversized platter. Our platter arrived with a chorizo link, beef sirloin, rice, red beans with pork, a huge fried chicharrón, an arepa, a sweet plantain, a slice of avocado (well, there's the only healthy portion), and a fried egg on top.
