Jalapeno Holly Chicken Salad sandwich with a scoop of jalapeno pimento cheese and pasta salad.
Shawn W.

We had our first experience with Chicken Salad Chick today. I don't have anything negative to say about it. My husband and I ate for about $43. We each had the sandwich plates with 2 sides. The pasta salad and broccoli salad are delicious! I also got a scoop of the jalapeno pimento cheese and it was amazing! We tried the jalapeno Holly and the Barbie-Q chicken salads and they were really good. I'm not sure why people were complaining about the portion sizes or what they expect to get but it was more than enough food for us. We also shared a slice of the pumpkin spice cake and it was delicious! We will definitely be going back. Also, the staff working today were so kind and very helpful. They engaged with us and we had nice conversations. Loved that!

This was my first time at a Chicken Salad Chick and everything was super delicious. The scoops were served well and the loaded potato soup was my favorite!! The strawberry lemonade was fresh and the restaurant was clean!! Will be back!!

I love Chicken Salad Chick and I'm used to going to the one in new Braunfels as I work there. I was so happy when they opened one here. But every time I've gone, my scoops are so tiny. My sandwiches are so tiny. What's the deal with the portion sizes at this location? When I go to new Braunfels, the scoops are way bigger. I feel like when I get a sandwich and a scoop I have to add my scoop to the sandwich to actually make it a full sandwich.

Portions are insanely small for the price! And the flavor was bland in my opinion. I'm happy I tried it though.

It was light and tasty, with the veggies balancing the rich depth of the black bean falafel and avocado. The veggies all blended well, with no one taste overpowering the other. Service was likewise fast and friendly. Highly recommend the Vegan Bowl not just as a vegetarian option, but as a fantastic meal in its own right.

It was clean, industrial/minimal setting, the staff friendly and the layout very easy for my aging ma to build her own bowl on the fly. She'd been very excited checking online earlier but neglected to mark down any specific order; she loved that everything was listed right at the topping stations. Randomly selected El Hippie which proved my least favorite so far, but enjoyed the second half much more after several hours (which intrigues me, I'll have to try it again with sauces on the side). I plan to eat my way through the entire menu eventually. El Cubano is still my reigning favorite. What you can't get by delivery--through the Yelp link, anyway--is their agua fresca. Tried pineapple cucumber, my usual flavor, which was good. Three glasses good. There were two other flavors available which have unfortunately slipped my mind. During our visit students, young families, and delivery drivers came and went. Everything went smoothly, everyone seemed pleased. Grabbed a brown butter and sea salt krispie bar for later and another to send home to ma's husband. They're big enough to share with a friend if you ARE behaving, and a safely indulgent size if you are not (I haven't shared either of mine so far, just downed it with a large glass of milk and a big smile). Was surprised to find out this establishment is NOT a chain/franchise. There are a lot of bowl/salad places about these days rather like frozen yogurt in the 90s, but this one has pleased us consistently and absolutely impressed my ma so I truly hope they do well.

Is it terrific marketing or terrible planning to put MAD Greens in the same building as CAVA? I…read morefeel like the kind of people who are interested in a healthy bowl of nourishing food would be split not quite down the middle between both of these restaurants. Are they hoping the better-known Mediterranean bowl place will be so full they can catch their overflow? People in a rush might skip the line and try this less-known healthy bowl food restaurant instead? But I digress... I had tried CAVA four times or so and every time I saw MAD Greens and thought, Someday I'm going to try that place. Well, last Sunday was the day. I got to eat what I wanted because I was eating solo. I'm going all in on this trial run, I thought to myself, so I bought one salad for that day and ordered another to be my lunch the following day. I walked in and was the only customer in the restaurant. I was greeted warmly by the young man behind the counter, who called me queen and had no complaint about my asking for no tomatoes and the dressings on the side. I tried the Greek one and the sesame sriracha one. The place was clean enough and the employees seemed to be enjoying themselves, chatting and goofing off a reasonable amount. The bowls were great. I chose the Greek one first when I realized it had pita chips inside. It came with two dressings, the creamier of which was a.m.a.z.i.n.g. Confession--I am a recovering picky eater and I hate cucumbers, but I love sneaking them into my body underneath delicious dressings and salty kalamatas. The second day I ate the sesame sriracha situation. It had tofu, which tbh I have never successfully eaten, and it was really good. It reminded me of the paneer in Indian food. That salad had edamame too, so I was definitely satiated and I'm guessing I got plenty of protein. Overall, I will definitely go back. CAVA has had some consistency problems for me, as well as some of my favorite offerings being limited-time or seasonal (isn't it the worst when restaurants lure you in with seasonal offerings you can't count on?!), so I'm glad to have had such a positive experience here and I'm hoping they will be consistently good.

However, I must say that MAD Greens makes some MAD GOOD salads. My go to is the spicy bacon bowl with boil eggs. I feel better about my life when I order this because I'm getting my greens in, getting my protein with the chicken, and I'm actually enjoying my rabbit food (aka salad). This is a must have for me. Coming from a non salad person ( I know... it's okay to judge me) I really enjoy their salads and their spicy bacon bowl makes me happy. Another food item that I love is their Mac and cheese. It's so tasty. I love it here and love their salads because the greens taste fresh. #madgoodness

The menu consists of more than just pizza, in fact many people near us had salads for their main course. We chose a gluten free crust pizza with meats (ham, pepperoni & sausage). The pizza toppings were tasty but, the crust was just ok (too thin to pick up and too tough to cut with our plastic knives. The soda selection is quite limited (Pepsi, Dr. Pepper, a pink lemonade and unknown sodas. The situation wasn't helped by the fact that the machine's ice dispenser was broken on a hot evening. We chose to sit outside to enjoy our meal at one of the super long picnic tables. Each probably sits 12+ patrons comfortably. Great area for kids to run around nearby so as you would assume, lots of young families. It seems to be a great meeting place for families & groups. The biggest downside to our dining experience was the outside trash can. Patrons cleaned up after themselves & the trash can was overflowing. I chose to go inside to throw our trash away and to inform staff of the trash situation. (No need having all that trash near your tables & front door) The staff informed me "we don't touch that. That's the City of Kyle's responsibility. They pick up on Saturday nights." Unfortunate that my visit was 6pm on a Saturday night. I can only imagine how messy the entire area will be by 9pm. I hope that the owners and management can figure out a way to handle this issue since the majority of the trash I saw inside & outside of the trash can was from their patrons.

The Caesar salad was well dressed not too much, not too little but nothing particularly memorable. That said, both cocktails were delicious and the service was friendly and attentive. Taste on Main was best rated and the menu sounded intriguing. We arrived 45 minutes early, and the Maître D' graciously found us a table even though we expressed our willingness to wait. Our server knew the menu well, and the food flowed with perfect timing. The ambiance of a remodelled historic building with modern functionality was both relaxing and refreshing. We were especially pleased with our four telephone calls before hand to the manager about seating if it rained, reservations, and parking. Emily answered each call and was so helpful, and it is a nice touch that the manager interacts directly with the patrons. Each food item was excellent: 1) Mixed Greens Salad (mixed greens, seasonal fruit, candied pecans, manchego cheese, crispy shallots, red wine vinaigrette); 2) Cioppino (clams, mussels, shrimp, fish, calamari, arrabiata-fish brodo, foccacia); 3) 5 oz MTX Petite Filet; 4) Dulce De Leche Crème Brûlée (caramelized dulce de leche base topped with a crackly, burnt sugar shell)

And I paid $250 FOR THE WORST MEAL I HAVE EVER HAD! Place was cool. People were nice. But very unorganized. All the food was . Bland. Undercooked. Disappointing. Drinks were so bad. Old fashioned was the worst I have ever had. the worst. Wine was no better than 2 buck chuck. Basically tasted like old fermented juice. Let's go item by item shall we. Calamari - so bland and chewy. Supporting sauces were underwhelming. Tuna tartare - bitter. Sour. Flavorless. The buttered bread that came with it was the best part and didn't even go well. Try a cracker. Cesar salad - why in the hell would you put salt and vinegar potato chips in this. SERIOUSLY. Red snapper - chewy and over cooked. Steak filet - soooooooo bland. Brussels sprouts - oddly ok. Just a little undercooked. Potato's - the most UNDERCOOKED thing I have ever seen. It was like a blind grandma who smoked all her life tried to peel and cook potatoes while tossing cheese on it. No joke we could not get out of there quick enough. Literally pulled through a drive through right after and spent 15$ on tacos and had a much better meal. DO BETTER.
