Half and half - grilled and fried box
Megan P.

They are delicious and sometimes have the grilled chicken available, but it's not always guaranteed. It is likely that they've run out of the popular sides like Mac and cheese by around 7 pm. All in all - it's good, but the item availability and their unusual horchata (it tasted like peanuts) will keep us putting this lower on our list of go-to's when we are in town.

I had big expectations about this place because one of a fellow yelper said it is great, so i had to try it. Unfortunately maybe It was not the best day. Service was fast. Inside was clean well lit and organized. Something is off with the setting they seem not super comfortable on the booths. Anyhow so far we are still 5 star. On the other hand, Let's talk about food chicken was extremely greasy and fries were just sad, so we are back to 3 Stars I will definitely come and try again, as you should as well

The drive to Kyle is worth it!! Pollo campero is comfort food for us and it never disappoints. The chicken is seasoned to perfection and crispy. The yuca fries were good and the plantains were cooked perfectly. We ate so fast I forgot to take a picture. Honestly one of our favorite places for chicken.

It was my first time trying this Guatemalan chain restaurant, which (dare I say) is better than Chick-fil-A! They offer chicken sandwiches with choice of side dishes. I got spicy chicken with plantains and yuca fries. The sauce tastes so similar to Chick-fil-A sauce. The staff is so friendly-they were able to answer our questions on the food. In addition to typical soda, they also offer mango, hibiscus, and horchata drinks. The food is like fast food but the inside of the restaurant is so clean and you don't have to clean up yourself! It has a drive thru.

Let me start off by saying I really wanted this place to be successful because I know how good they can be. I've had the chance to first try it in Guatemala when we were on vacation visiting my hubby's family and everything was sooo good. The plantains were my favorite and the chicken excellent. We came the first time to this location when they had the grand opening. They had a wheel you can spin for prizes and they were giving out samples of their drinks like horchata. We knew we would be waiting a while. There was ALOT of people. The staff was keeping up and they were serving with smiles. The chicken and rolls are good. We tried to have a little bit of everything but those two were my focus. The place is set up like a fast food joint with a drive thru and they have an app to earn rewards and order with the app. I would say give it a chance and go from there.

We were excited to try this new place in Kyle. We waited a while to give them a chance to work out the bugs ... Well, gotta say, pretty disappointed. First we had to wait more than 20 minutes for our food. The grilled chicken was extremely dry. The beans taste like ranch style beans. And they no longer have mashed potatoes ... after they just started here!! The mac n cheese was okay, but a little clumpy. The fried chicken wasn't bad and the rolls were really good. Those two things are the only reason this place gets 3 stars. Otherwise I'd give it 1 star.

Although I dislike leaving bad reviews, I have to be honest. My husband loves rotisserie chicken and was excited when he learned that Pollo Campero was going to be close. He thought he found his local fix, however he was mistaken. The drive through was empty so I checked the reviews. They were bad but Hubby still wanted to give it a try. We bought a 4 piece mix, fried and baked (that's what I call it) with coleslaw and rice. The chicken was dry. The fried chicken had a seasoning on it that I found overwhelming. The slaw was soupy, way too wet for us, and the rice was ok. Overall, we will not be back. I hope they are able to change their recipes or something to improve their food.

I was in Kyle for an appointment and noticed this new restaurant, so I thought I'd try it. The drive-thru line didn't seem that long but the wait was a bit longer than expected. I almost got out of the line but couldn't. The line eventually moved and it wasn't too long after that when I reached the window. I ordered the Campero chicken bowl. It was ok. Not horrible but nothing to bring me back. The portion of chicken was generous. I definitely couldn't finish the bowl. It could use more cheese and some sauce. Pinto beans are typically a bit mushy, so it was a little odd in a bowl. The "avocado" was definitely a mix of other ingredients. Tasted fine, though. I read reviews while waiting in line. It is fairly new, so it might take some time for staff to get adjusted and trained. I also read their fried chicken is really good. If it's like the chicken in the bowl I can see why. This chicken patty was well seasoned and crispy. A little confused and disappointed that the chicken patty "contains pork" but it is clearly stated on the menu. The young lady at the window was ok. She was busy, no complaints.

Pollo Campero always seems to have a line of cars so we've avoided it, but had heard good things from this Guatemalan born recent addition to Kyle's restaurant landscape. After a trip to Costco the family and I decided to grab a late lunch and there wasn't a big line so it was the perfect time. We went inside but we ordered to go. We got the 8 piece dinner (enough for 4) and split the chicken half fried and half grilled. It was off peak time (2:30p) but the restaurant was pretty full. We were 3rd in line to order. Waited about 10 minutes for our order. The chicken was really good. Juicy and flavorful. The grilled had a nice lemon-peppery zing. The fried had a good crispy skin. Yuca fries are stout and filling. Just 2-3 suffice. Plantains were a nice sweet dessert-like end to the meal. Feeding a family of 4 for under $30. We will be back.

Allergen info not accurate please update !!

For those with allergies please beware!! Their HORCHATA has PEANUTS !! Their website says tree nuts and milk But Not all Horchatas are the same as most people know Horchatas from Mexico is made of (rice milk and sugar and cinnamon). This is a Central American chain and the horchata is different. Unfortunately my little nephew had an allergic reaction to taking a few sips of his horchata drink.he is ONLY allergic to peanuts . Central American Horchata is made with spices and nuts and PEANUTs Their website didn't state that so just wanted to let any other readers thinking of going here to just know this. It was a scary Sunday evening at the hospital. And I did alert their manager and corporate to update this information ! But who knows how long that will take. So Consumers must know! Our Drive thru order was cold they forgot beans and plantains in my meal order and dips for sandwiches. So not sure if it's worth the hype . Check your drive through orders and make sure they r accurate before driving off it's a pain when u get home and see that food is missing and you are charged .

Food was very flavorful AND served on an actual plate, not plastic or foam. The service was great n friendly. The ambiance was family oriented n calm. Very good place for great food.

Fried chicken items are always fresh, juicy, and crispy. The delivery lady was nice and exceptional customer services. Missing chicken items. Overall, this campero is above my expectation. The female manager resolved the problems by offering me two extra pieces of fried chicken.

Lupe Tortilla is one of those restaurants. I'm not saying it's a bad thing as one of my personal favorites (Pappacito's) holds this same designation. Over the years I been to Lupe but haven't been overly impressed. A few happy hours; some lunches. It's pricey Tex-Mex. Lupe opened a new outlet recently in Kyle and instead of waiting for tires in a lobby we ride shared just down the road for lunch. New digs are nice; competition in this area will be stiff. It already killed off Austin fave Z' Tejas. I've never gotten the complimentary beans served with the chips and salsa. I personally don't need any more beans than what's served with my entree. Wife liked it though; she's a bean whore. Bloody Mary ordered; it's like an appetizer! Her taco salad was artfully presented. I'd still want the traditional fried tortilla bowl. I opted for the beef fajita and shrimp fajitas. This is where my favorite mentioned about easily stands above Lupe Tortilla. Well done meat versus beautiful medium rare goodness. Beef fajita meat doesn't have to be well done y'all. I literally could tag nearly every Tex-Mex restaurant in Texas at this point. Back to the dish this time concentrating on the seafood aspect. The shrimp were nicely cooked but red pepper butter? Fave copycat restaurant serves their shrimp with the most amazing frothy garlic butter. Diablo and the bacon wrapped version. Lupe isn't bad but there are better options. For this visit, including my dessert of a tequila shot. May not be my favorite but it was upscale fare.

The bowl was a good portion size with 2 salmon filets. The salmon was seasoned well however there was a bone in one of the pieces. I loved the fresh mango and spinach. The rice was very flavorful but was a bit heavy. I was only able to eat half of the bowl and I was full and took the rest to go. We pushed two tables together in the dining area so members of our family could sit together. They had TVs playing sports and other funny clips for entertainment. That changed when I lived in Kansas City; a place called Oklahoma Joes (changed to Joes KS) BBQ operated out of a gas station. It's one of the best places in the nation for BBQ, so with that knowledge and hungry for a decent chicken sandwich, I considered the new Sharks inside the gas station which just went up less than a mile from my house. In short, WOW, I'm literally shocked! I googled "fast food chicken sandwiches" and none of the suggestions that came up appealed to me as they've always been horrible. So, I thought, let me see some yelp reviews on Sharks Burgers. After seeing consistently high marks on burgers, I decided to try both. Before I go on, please note Sharks is inside of the Valero gas station right off of 35 across the freeway from Costco. The place is extremely clean, in a safe part of town and the employees are very nice. On the website I decided to build my own chicken sandwich and I'll mention they didn't have an option to double up cheese so I put it in the notes and it was added! I added mayo, ketchup, Swiss x2, grilled onions and mushrooms, lettuce and tomatoes. The chicken was slightly thicker than I anticipated while being moist and not overcooked. I think they could have added a touch more onions and mushrooms otherwise it was great. Plus, it has juices oozing out that got the bun soggy and I had no issues with that. The major gripe I had with both sandwiches is they didn't core the tomato so I gnawed on a big chunk of core, yuck. I decided to munch on my fresh tots which were pipping hot while dipping them in their shark sauce. I didn't like the shark sauce as I hate buffalo sauce which was the dominate flavor. My final item was the blue cheese burger. The beef was cooked perfectly and as with the chicken sandwich the bun was perfect but there could have been thicker and more slices of avocado. Otherwise, it's a well-balanced little burger with the blue cheese adding the funk to set it aside. To quote Pulp Fiction, it was a tasty burger (fyi - please add a big kahuna burger to the menu as I would be a regular). Overall, I was shocked about how much better Sharks food is over competing fast food restaurants. The meat is thicker and juicier, they have more interesting combinations and they food was straight from the kitchen, not under some heat lamp. I'd rank them almost on par with the "gourmet" burger shops like (4+1 gentlemen) and (extremely excellent) burgers (I hope you can figure out the cryptic message). I'll be back soon to indulge in Sharks offerings and if you're like I was, on the fence; get off and give it a try, you won't regret it.

As we walked in, we were greeted by who I assume is the owner and she let us know there was a free table next to her. Our waitress was super friendly and gave us chips and salsa shortly after being sat. The chips and salsa were excellent and I, as usual, ate too much. The salsa had a good spice and great flavor and the chips were very crunchy and crispy (like fritos but airier). I ordered a small menudo and chilaquiles with green salsa and both were really good. The menudo had a ton of flavor, good spices, and the stomach pieces were cooked perfectly; super tender and no, sometimes off putting, lingering offal smells. The chilaquiles were also great and the green salsa was mild and refreshing, with excellent side of potatos and beans. I could not finish my food as I thought the small menudo would be like a small cup not a whole bowl. I had also filled up on chips and salsa and our waitress refilled it so I had even more. All in all, this is an excellent little local spot for some bold flavors and fresh food. The menu is quite large and I'm curious to come back and have some other foods (like chicken fried steak).
