I got Slim's sauce with my meal. This was my first time using a whole container of sauce while eating Slim's tenders. I wanted plain wings, but after finding out they were plain fried wings, I changed my mind. Tenders: I'm used to slims tenders being seasoned so well until I didn't need sauce. This was our first time eating at Slim Chickens and it was not bad. The staff were really nice, we ordered online and it was easy to pick up. My husband and I split the five for five meal, Buffalo chicken wings, chicken tenders, and fried mushrooms. We ordered a side of okra. We enjoyed the chicken tenders, they were seasoned well and the honey bbq sauce was delicious. The mushrooms were a close second. We didn't even need dipping sauce. The okra was not seasoned but was ok with hot sauce. The wings were bland and could use some type of seasoning. We will be back for the tenders and the mushrooms! read more

My first time at Slim Chickens! The girl at the drive thru taking the order was really sweet. She was welcoming and thorough in making sure I understood their offerings. It was obvious she's new, but it was nice to have a good start. The girl at the window was less friendly though and just kind of shoved my order at me. The restaurant is new, and it shows, clean and crisp looking as you'd expect. Now the food. I'm not usually a chicken tenders person so I don't have a brand preference. The tenders are juicy and tender chicken. I did expect more flavor but nada. The chicken is good chicken but it needs more flavor. The toast was great, but I'm a sucker for Texas toast lol. The fries were good. Crispy and not even soggy when I got home. The sauces are the bright supporter for the chicken. The ranch is thin and not quit a dip consistency but it's really good. The Korean BBQ was good, but I wish it was spicier. The slim sauce was good, like canes sauce. All complimented the chicken well. Next time I'll try different ones. The Mac and cheese was a must try since they have whole tender bowls. I got a side to test it out. It's good, but not seller. The bowl wasn't quite full which is a little annoying for the price. Note: I think this is the same size sold in the kids meal, so it's not a big meal for a bigger kiddo. Overall, I liked the food and I'll go back and try a sandwich next time or something else. After the gym we passed Slim Chickens. After reading about it online and how it's coming to Kyle we decided to try it out. It could be our post workout meal. ;) There was no one in the drive thru at 9am when we drove up which was nice. I was surprised they were open so early for a chicken place but they did have a chicken and waffle option so you could get that for breakfast. I decided to get a 3 piece tender, just the tenders. Just wanted to try it and have some protein after my workout. My husband got a bigger meal which was fries, chicken and toast. Both of ours came with a sauce of our choice which we chose Slim Sauce, their signature sauce. After my first few bites I noticed it wasn't anything special. It was warm and meaty which I appreciated but thought it would have a little more of a signature taste that made it stand out from other chicken restaurants. But I didn't really get the uniqueness I was looking for. It wasn't anything that would cause me to come back or place this as a top chicken joint. We saw a few of these new Slim Chicken locations pop up along I-35 recently, so we wanted to try it. There are plenty of chicken tender based restaurants now-a-days. This fact should make a new location want for to offer something different, not only different but unique and even better tasting. Something that makes you really want to go there. Unfortunately, this location and menu isn't anything above and beyond similar restaurants focused on tenders. There's lot of parking, the staff was nice and friendly, and the new location was nice and bright. The one downfall is the actual food. Their signature sauce is bland. Their lemon pepper wings are bland. I can say everything was fresh, but most everything my family of 4 tried was lacking flavor. With so many other options, this is a place I cannot recommend. read more

I'm not too sure about this place. I've eaten here twice-to go and eat in. Both times I got wings, once with fries and once with mushrooms. The fries-no thanks. The mushrooms were pretty good. Line moved well and our reward for our short wait was piping hot chicken tenders and skin-on fries. Loved the light breading and the choice of sauces is massive. They give you a wide variety of sauces and they have a couple of dry rubs that are available. They do cost more than Canes and Zaxbys but for juicy, seasoned chicken, it's worth it. Chicken tenders are crispy but seasoning are on salty side. There are many sauce options, I tried slim sauce, ranch, Korean BBQ. Slim sauce is mayo based that feels like dupe cane sauce but not close in flavor profile, quite heavy and doesn't really compliment well with the heavy seasonings on tender. Ranch is safe sauce option. Korean BBQ sauce is sweet and savory but again on the salty side. Service is fast considering amount of crowd in the restaurant and staff are very friendly! It could be a good spot for late night craving (open till 11pm) but not something I would rave to my friends. read more

I really enjoyed Slim chickens. I noticed they replaced Zaxby's, as a previous Zaxby's employee, I believe that Slim chicken is better and this was a good idea. The desserts are really good. I really don't like Keylime pie, but the Keylime pie pudding that they have is really good. They were out of banana pudding so I will have to come back and try it. We ordered 2 kids meals chicken tenders and fries, slim's grilled chicken salad and a 8 piece wings & fries spicy chili sauce or whatever. It was all horrible! The salad was horrible the grilled tenders on the salad was old and hard! I hate when I waste money at restaurants. If I cold leftovers I could have ate lunch out of my fridge and the bad thing about it, it was lunch time. The food should have been hot and fresh. The salad was so small it was ridiculous! Went to the San Marcos store. Family all ordered. I got 8 wings, fries, and DP with a Brownie in a jar. This is the 2nd review I have ever written. The wings were dry and hard like they had been under a heat lamp for hours. The fries tasted and felt like they just came out of a microwave. The DP had no syrup, all carbonated water. Best part of the meal was the brownie flavored whip cream in a jar. The rest of my family tossed most of their food as well. I dont think Ive ever had food that poorly prepared. read more

Ordered two wing meals. Waited over 25 minutes for our order in the drive thru. First they gave us the wrong order, one of the employees tells "idk where my head is sorry" proceeded to wait more time. 15 minutes passed no one comes to the window. Finally someone comes to window and hands us our meal. She says sorry and my husband proceeds to ask, may i ask what the hold up was? She tells us you ordered wings and those take longer. It would have been nice if someone would have stated that when we ordered. We get home and the wings are raw. Fully cooked on the outside but pink on the inside. Horrible! We call the number to complain and the manager tells us we can't give u your money back unless u bring your food back. Horrible service! Horrible food! read more

I've been wanting to check out Slim Chickens ever since I heard it was coming to Kyle. Since they opened, I've seen a lot of people compare them to Raising Cane's. In my personal opinion, they're a little different--and I actually prefer Slim Chickens. Raising Cane's is okay, but I'm not a big fan. To me, their fries and chicken are very bland. I do like their Cane's sauce, though. Slim Chickens, on the other hand, has way more flavor. I like their chicken a lot more because Raising Cane's chicken is very soft with no crispiness, while Slim Chickens' chicken is nice and crispy. I also wanted to try the fried pickles and fried mushrooms--and I'm glad I did. I love the fried mushrooms. A lot of places don't season them well, but Slim Chickens does. They're delicious. The ranch is the bomb. I'm super picky about ranch, and theirs is excellent--very similar to Wingstop's. The fried pickles, though? They're very salty in my opinion. I know pickles are naturally salty, but it feels like extra salt was added to the batter. If they toned down the salt, I'd like them more. They're not bad, just a bit much. I'm not sure how I feel about the Slim Chickens sauce. It's not bad, but it's not my go-to. I ordered online and went through the drive-thru. The guy who helped me was super outgoing and friendly--no complaints there. But the girl who came to confirm my name didn't listen when I told her. She called me by a completely different name. My only suggestion: really listen to the customer's name when picking up an order so you don't give the wrong food to the wrong person.
