Came to buy at east Boston around 8:20 pm and the people at the cashier mentioned that the couldn't sell me the pieces of chicken I needed They only could sell me one option being mixed chicken It's crazy how they can't sell us what we usually buy We are customers for around 16 months and this never happens And adding that they told us that we couldn't eat in the restaurant by that time I said really??? My memory hit me out of nowhere after seeing a video about National Fried Chicken Day on TikTok. Funny how things come back like that. I lived in East Boston back in 2017-2018, and Pollo Campero was one of my go-tos, especially on cold days when I didn't have the energy to cook. Back then, I didn't have a car, so I'd walk there from my apartment in the freezing weather, and that first bite of fried chicken always made it worth it. I was going through a hard time back then, and honestly, eating their food was some of the few happy moments I really remember. It means a lot to see they're still open in 2025. Walk in today at 4:45, right up to the counter and ordered a 3 piece meal. Was surprise at no line and that the restaurant was fairly empty. Visiting Boston from CA and found this place on Yelp. Decided to check it out cuz it was close to the airport and I was starving. Got the 4 piece meal with mixed fried and grilled (or baked?) chicken. The fried pieces were thigh and drumstick. The grilled pieces were breast and wing. Both were really good. The fried chicken was a little on the salty side for me, but still enjoyable. All of the pieces were moist, juicy, and flavorful. I was impressed with the white meats being so good and not dry! For sides, I got fries and rice. Both were decent, nothing special. The roll was so good too! I could eat a bunch of those in one sitting. Really glad to have had the chance to check this place out. I ordered a 4-piece meal with 2 sides, and tacked on an order for a side of fried sweet plantains (platanos maduros) and a gallon of horchata. As far as I'm aware, this is the only place in boston that offers horchata on this scale, and that is impressive. The chicken's batter & spice was perfect, I just wish the packaging was a bit better so that the chicken would arrive hotter, but I blame it on my UberEats driver who drove here with all windows down. The meal comes with a side of flan which is nice. The beans were super good, and the plantains were the right kind of gooey sweetness. The horchata was a bit much but that's on me for getting a gallon of it. It was perfect with ice added in. If you want a good amount of food for a decent price, Pollo Campero is perfect for that. I always get super excited when I see a pollo campero location because the chicken is always delicious and it's not just your average fried chicken! We stopped by right before our flight back home and this location was pretty busy! We waited in line a few minutes and had more then enough time to look over the menu. We ended up ordering a family meal to share. We did wait a while for our meal to come out, but everything came out hot. The chicken was juicy and crunchy as always, and it had such a unique delicious flavor! The sides were alll great too and the fried plantains were crispy and sweet! Tables were hard to come by, as it was super busy inside. The employees were alll friendly! Definitely worth checking out! The chicken is good! read more

Best fried chicken in Maverick if you ask me! Sides I recommend mashed potatoes if you're unadventurous, but their sweet plantains and yuka fries are a must try. Especially the sauce they give with the Yuka fries! Some of the juiciest fried and grilled chicken I've ever had, and this place gives you lime to pair with your grilled chicken, and I definitely recommend it! Their chicken wings are full wings and thighs and breasts are also full size and never dry. And for a low price! I usually get the 3 piece meal, you can choose how many grilled or fried or both, you get one side, and I recommend their Horchata and Mango Lemonade for drinks. Drinks are additional but dine in and refill it as much as you like. I'd say order on their app if you want to take out, because they usually only have one register and line can get long during busy hours. Very nice staff and the East Boston location is usually very clean. When I went in today I noticed the dining area was not being kept up with. Ketchup cups, reciepts, paper straws scattered on the floor. Unfortunately they were shortstaffed with only 2 people working the counter area around 5pm on a Thursday. Now the food. I ordered the camperitos with campero rice and beans. Rice and beans were tasty but boy oh boy was the chicken salty. Unfortunately this is a trend that you see in many Latin restaurants in East Boston. There are plenty of seasonings other then salt ya know!? Overall it's an average restaurant with average food. I love this place, I tried it for the first time via UberEats and I won't ever be getting KFC if I'm craving cheap fried chicken. I like how it comes with corn tortillas, I rolled them up with pieces of the fried chicken breast which was really flavorful, dipped a yuca fry in their house sauce and put it in. The flan was also very tasty and almost similar to cheesecake in consistency. I usually eat much "wetter" flan but the thick cheesecakelike flan was a nice surprise too. The plantains taste look something you would get from a traditional Latin Am. restaurant, they were great. I will be trying the grilled chicken next with a different variery of sides. Ultimate Weakness, A GOOD PIECE OF CHICKEN WILL MAKE ANYBODY BELIEVE IN THE EXISTENCE OF GOD. A few places make some good chicken but pollo campero is definitely on the top five for a delicious piece of fried chicken around Boston. The seasoning and the texture and even the cholula hot sauce is good, They make sure the chickens are freshly fried. I have to say that it took me by surprise, I thought it was going to be like any other Boston fried chicken joint but this was Chicken angels at their best working for Bostonians palates. I've to say that Pollo Campero has improved a lot since my last review. Orders are completed accurately. Service has improved significantly and chicken tastes a lot better. I can always find plenty of grilled chicken, which is my favorite, and standards are up and better than many American franchises in the area. read more

I love the fried chicken here. It's definitely different from KFC/Popeye's. I love the way it's spiced. I agree with other commentors that the chicken pieces are smaller than average but I guess it's the way they cook it. I usually get the 20 pieces for $22 deal and grab a bunch of sauces for when I go over to friends parties. It's always a big hit with folks who don't usually eat latin fried chicken. read more

Flavorful, but not as crispy as I usually preferred. 4/5 Sweet plantains were... off. I couldn't even finish one after taking one bite. Everyone recommended them so I'm not sure if it's just my taste buds not mixing well with them. Withholding rating on that. Mashed potatoes were average. The potatoes itself were okay, but the gravy was just... off. It was sour-- is it supposed to be sour? None of the other mashed potatoes I've ever had was. I did manage to finish it though while avoiding most of the gravy... 2.5/5 The server/cashier was friendly. Smooth order. 5/5 Overall, I would give most points to the chicken since it was the main course. I came to this location about 6:30 pm on Tuesday. When I place the order the girl at the register said that there was no more chicken and that I had to wait. I agree to it but then I realize that there were about 5 more people there waiting for chicken. Wowo I had to wait for at least 25 minutes before they called my name ., My point is that I only have 40 minutes break and I spend 25 minutes here because there was not chicken. Best seasoning around for chicken, always hot fresh and fast. The rice and beans are a good side dish, the street corn is definitely an acquired taste but I think it's good. The family meal for $17 is a great deal 9 pieces and three sides along with 6 tortillas. I love how they serve you on actual plates and real silverware, definitely a bonus touch to make you forget that you're ordering"fast food". Fried chicken is great, latin american fried chicken is even better. This place does way more than your traditional fried (or grilled) chicken though. They have a bunch of great sides too, including Yuca Fries and Fried Sweet Plantains. Their french fries are burger king style, nothing too much to rave about. Prices can be reasonable too, I got a combo box of 10 drumsticks and breasts for $10, which was enough for about 3 or 4 people. It is true about the limited english spoken here, but c'mon it is fast food, just say what you want and move on. This is a great fast food chain. read more

This place is seriously really really good. It has changed ownership since some of the earlier reviews and the place is always extremely clean now. I am never the only one in there even if I go at odd times so I can't be the only one who thinks it's delicious. LOVE LOVE LOVE their grilled chicken, not much of a fried chicken girl but that's great too. Their rice bowl is RIDICULOUSLY filling , I barely made it through half, it's loaded with black beans, grilled chicken, peppers, corn, some kind of delicious sauce and probably a bunch of stuff I am not remembering. Might be my new favorite menu item and all for under 7 dollars. I load anything I get here with Jalapeños, not quiet sure what kind of magic is performed on them but they are delicious. Perhaps they are pickled because they weren't too spicy but they had an amazing flavor. Light years above KFC/Popeyes for me but no mashed potatoes or traditional american sides.Their black beans are great but their pinto beans are out of this world. One of the best sides I've ever had particularly at a fast food place. Nothing about this feels like fast food to be honest. I'd consider it to be more fast-casual. They prepare lots of stuff fresh and then bring it to your table which certainly puts them above Mcdonald's and even Panera. Wanna try something different than the same old KFC? Try out Pollo Campero! The chicken was very good, I recommend the dark meat as it is much more moist. I also really enjoyed their cole slaw and red beans. If you go here, don't bother with the dinner rolls, they are some crappy, dry roll that you can get anywhere, go for the tortillas. I have been driving past this restaurant every single day on my lunch break. Food was good if you're used to our Latino seasoning. Just avoid this place if you're on a short lunch break. I was in line for 15 minutes with only 4-5 persons ahead of me. Then waited almost 20 mins to get my food which came out wrong. Also, the cashier said they don't accept Apple pay even though there's a label on the door and the POS clearly displayed the Apple Pay Logo. Over hearing from everyone that I know, east boston pollo campers is better. So why not give it a shot. Coming into the place it really does remind me of an actual restaurant from the motherland of Guatemala. No windows on the side only the main entrance tons of seating very in a way restaurant looking. We order which the order taker was very nice and spoke English too. If you sit in they will give you a number and tell you to sit at a table, they will bring it to you and you can leave it on the table also. But not really a thing I do for a fast food restaurant I need to put my stuff away. We got a family order for 4 and it definitely feeds to adults and 2 kids easily 3 hungry adults if need be. I standby my original 4 star review of the Chelsea location and agree this is the same for their newly opened Eastie joint. I've never been in the Chelsea one besides picking up drive thru but this location is walk in only and boasts a very large dining area with booths, tables and even bar stools at the windows. Everything is new, clean and well stocked. Service was also good in person. The menu is the same. On a Sunday afternoon there was no waiting in line. I must of missed a rush cause many tables were taken with diners. The chicken pieces were displayed in the back and looked very fresh. This chicken has a distinct look and smell to it. Once it was in the car I knew, that's the Campero smell. We just picked up an 8 piece box to eat during the game. That ran us $12.99. While I am a fan of the chicken taste and texture, I will say that its a bit pricey. The pieces are not big either. I've found the drumsticks at both locations scrawny. The combos with a couple chicken pieces, a side and drink run about $7. For me its good every once in a while. For the sides I highly recommend the plantains. Those are heavenly. The green sauce from the self serve counter tastes great with the chicken. Try the fruit juices vs. the soda, they are tasty and leave room for a tres leches cake. You'll leave happy. read more

OMG THIS IS OFFICIALLY MY FAVORITE FRIED CHICKEN PLACE! I came here with the boy and two friends who were in town and heard about this place through a family member. When we arrived, we looked over the menu and decided on 12 pieces of fried chicken (mixed) with a side of yucca and fried plantains. For drinks, we couldn't decide and asked the staff who was kind enough to provide samples! We ended up with the jamaica (which was similar to fruit punch), horchata (like a cinnabon in liquid form!), and I can't remember the name of the last drink but it was like iced tea. After we ordered, we sat down in a booth and the food was delivered straight to us with silverware and everything! Talk about service for a fast food place! Everything was delicious! The fried chicken was crispy and juicy. I thought I would miss the breading but I didn't. Way better than KFC and Popeyes! Yes, I said it!
