I decided the this spot since it was indoors mostly and it had rained all day. There were several people helping working the hostess stand. There were several folks walking around gathering info. i.e. Table 15 was paying etc. The noise is busy and charming. There are several TVs streaming sorts. Go sports! You can stand at the end of the bar and order drinks if you like while you wait. After I was seated, I was promptly brought water and had my order taken. I got a cup of chowder and the lobster roll (hot with butter). I got both my chowder and lobster roll in under 10 mins of ordering. Well oiled machine. The chowder was hot and salty and creamy. The perfect combo with the rainy weather. The lobster roll was good but I wish it would have been hot. It was closer to room temp than hot. The lobster roll was marked market price and was 40$. The cup of chowder was 10$. Overall good spot when you have the time to wait but not worth the 40$ price for the lobster roll.

First visit, Monday 4/20/26…read more Visiting Boston on a work trip, I had no idea the Marathon was today! Met 4 colleagues at The Red Fox for dinner, a recommendation from a friend of my colleague. Tough to find initially and very unsuspecting upon arrival. As you enter the front door (think like walking into a foyer of a small apartment building) you go down a flight of stairs into the restaurant. Then wow, this place is awesome! Small entry way into the restaurant with a hostess immediately greeting you. The bar is your first view of the place and it was packed. I'd describe it as dimly light, great atmosphere and ambience, almost a speakeasy feel. I'd recommend a reservation. The hostess walked us to our table, walking along the bar line with small 2-4 top tables to our left, we then turned left into the main dining room. 5 of us and we were seated at a horseshoe style table, plenty of room for up to 6 adults. Service was instant, she was friendly and very knowledgeable. We ordered cocktails and a couple apps. The drinks arrived along with bread service. They added small side plates with oils and olives, a nice touch. The cocktails were fantastic as was the homemade bread. A unique twist with my cocktail (kettle one & soda), was the single ice cube that was a long rectangle cube that was so clear you couldn't see it! The cubes length was the same as the tall glass it was served in and didn't melt. For dinner I listened to our server who recommended the Chicken Parmigiana with a chefs twist using a vodka infused sauce, this dish was amazing! My colleagues all shared the same feelings that this meal was spectacular. Highly recommend The Red Fox!

Very disappointing experience. To be clear, I understand that bringing outside food into a…read morerestaurant is generally not permitted, especially when they sell desserts themselves. My issue was not the policy, but how it was handled. We walked in carrying a Mike's Pastry box in plain sight, placed it on the table, and ordered two amaros and a Coke. The waiter greeted us, saw the box, and never mentioned the policy. We then opened it and began sharing a cannoli with our 3 year old son while staff could clearly see us. A few minutes later, a large group walked in. I heard the person who appeared to be the manager or owner comment to the staff that we were "three people for two tables and only two amaros." Shortly afterward, our waiter was instructed to tell us we could not eat the cannoli. Had someone simply told us when we arrived that outside food was not allowed, we would have gladly put it away or gone somewhere else. Instead, nothing was said until after we had ordered and our son had already started eating. The staff later explained that this happens frequently because Mike's is directly across the street. If that is the case, communicating the policy when customers arrive carrying outside food seems like a simple solution. The policy is completely reasonable. The communication and customer service were disappointing.

Unfortunately we did not book a reservation, so seating was either at the bar or outside. We found a two-seater at the bar and all was well. We ordered salt and pepper wings and BPH burgers for lunch. The food came out piping hot, the wings were seasoned just right and the burger was better than the "GR" burger we had on our first day. As for the ambience, it started off with a few patrons, but soon we noticed seats filling and understood why the hostess said "i know It looks empty now, but we have those tables reserved'" an unnecessary statement, but I guess she saw us looking around when she mentioned bar seating. Def give this place a try! It's going on my Boston Eats list if I'm ever visiting again.

We felt like the menu all seemed kinda random there wasn't any cohesive theme to what the restaurant served. When we ordered drinks they offered a pitcher for 4 or more people, but they said it's the same price as ordering 4 drinks and it's the same amount? So that didn't really make sense. The food was all good we really enjoyed the wings and the ribs. The thing we didn't like about the restaurant was the service and vibes were so weird. No one had an answer to any of our questions, and it felt awkward just being there. The way they described the menu also didn't make sense they said some items are small so you might want to order a couple things and some are entree sized, but there was really no way to determine that? Anyway it was good food just strange vibes.

Afterward, she treated me to brunch at North Street Grille, and honestly, it was exactly what I needed. When we arrived, there was a line and we were told the wait could be around 45 minutes. Don't let that scare you off. We put our name down, walked around the neighborhood, took some cute pictures of each other and passed the time until Robin received a text letting us know our table was coming up. I'd say we actually waited closer to 20-30 minutes max. As someone who deals with anxiety, I'll admit that when I first saw how busy it was, I was a little nervous about going inside. But once we got settled, that feeling went away. The atmosphere was welcoming, lively and easygoing. There was plenty of conversation and background noise, but funny enough, that was exactly the kind of noise I needed that day. I didn't feel like all eyes were on me. I could just sit down, decompress, enjoy my food and enjoy being with my best friend. And once you're inside, I can completely understand the wait. It's a smaller spot, people are eating, drinking, talking and genuinely enjoying themselves. It doesn't feel like somewhere you want to rush out of and with the food being as good as it was, I understand the line too. Now let's get to the food. That complimentary banana bread? Don't sleep on it. I really enjoyed it. We also had mimosas, which were good and definitely fit the occasion. I ordered the Steak Bomb Omelet with steak, peppers and cheese, along with home fries and toast. Robin had the salmon omelet, and of course I had to taste hers too--it was good! Our waiter was attentive and really nice throughout the meal, which made the experience even better. And speaking of Robin what are the chances I'm sitting there with my best friend Robin, open the menu and see a Robin Special? Shoutout to all the Robins! There were so many other things on the menu that caught my eye that I already know one visit isn't enough. And apparently the restaurant knew when it was time for me to go, because right on cue, I dropped my mimosa glass. I was immediately embarrassed, but shoutout to our waiter because he didn't make a big deal out of it or make me feel uncomfortable. And remember all that background noise I mentioned? For once, I was grateful for it because hardly anybody even noticed. Between coming straight from family court, having my best friend there, the food, the atmosphere and even my little mimosa-glass finale, this brunch ended up being exactly what I needed. Would I come back? Definitely. Next time I'm trying something completely different from the menu, with them delicious-ass banana bread bites.

My mom and I really enjoyed the wings (sweet chili was our go to flavor), the calamari was good, the chicken sandwich was just ok, it was covered in sauce and slaw, too much for me to actually taste the chicken. Breakfast was just ok, service was always slow, they weren't busy on the days I visited . The brick oven chicken was ok, not bad and not great, could have used a bit of seasoning, sugar snap peas were ok if not burned, and the potatoes tasted like instant potatoes that were mixed with too much water, resulting in a thin "mashed" potato. The egg benedict, I have had better and the potatoes that come with it tasted like absolutely nothing, how is that possible you ask....I am not sure, but they did taste like nothing (no seasoning whatsoever) The best part of my visits were on a days/nights when the weather is nice and the breeze is cool, they have the windows open and what a lovely view of the Greenway across the street. The spaghetti & meatballs was just so plain, with absolutely no flavor. The pizza was one of the worst ever, the inside was all mushy and the crust was half of the pizza, which was so chewy. The carbonara was the only thing semi-decent and even that was just not true carbonara at all - basically just cheesy alfredo grainy sauce. The service was also terrible, I understand we had a party of 7 so things may be delayed but this was extremely slow and someone in the party did not get their food until everyone else was done eating because they dropped his meal.
