Nice community spot for brunch in Eastie. The menu is super simple and straightforward with fair prices. We came here for breakfast and ordered the Chilaquiles and the Angela's Special (w/ french toast). The Chilaquiles had a nice amount of heat, while the portions for both were pretty sizeable. Guacamole: Very fresh. I actually loved the chips. They're nicely fried, and remind me of the chips at Tenoch. Mole Poblano de Angela: My first time having mole and it was delicious! A chocolatey, spicy, savory sauce didn't sound that appealing to me, but that's only because I'd never had it before. It really was delicious. I like the slight tingle of spiciness, and the chocolatey and savory worked well together. Getting this with pork ribs was a great idea. The pork was so tender and delicious - it just fell off the bone. Favoritos de Angela (Pequena): We made the mistake of eating this too late in the meal. I'd recommend digging in as soon as you get it, as some of the items can get soggy. I should have asked the waitress what each item was, because I got them confused. Holy Molé this place is fantastic. The house mole with baby back ribs is worth a visit itself but the tacos, gorditas and everything else is also delicious. There's a reason why the ratings are so high for this place. If you're into very generous portions of fresh, authentic Mexican cuisine, served by friendly staff in a super cozy atmosphere, this could be the place for you. The prices were quite reasonable for the amount of food we got. We didn't struggle with a language barrier as the menu was available in English with each dish explained. The seating area is limited, but we got there just ahead of the breakfast rush so we didn't have a wait at all. Expect a wait time though - this place is hopping and we just got lucky this time. Had to stop by this spot that was just a few minutes' walk away from my AirBnB on my final morning in Boston! I was the first patron there since I arrived just after they opened, but the staff was very sweet & started my order right away. I ordered a cafe con lèche and the Centro America (no pics unfortunately). The coffee was piping hot & had great flavor without being at all too sweet. As for my meal, it was fresh and I did enjoy it but found it needed a little hot sauce for my taste. Very decently priced, especially since my plate was completely full! 9/18 My wife and I walk in during opening hours, mind you there's other customers who sat during the same time as we did, and the lady took our order around 8ish. We know that they took order because we got our guac and chips, it is now 10 minutes before 9am and they tell us that our order was never placed. what frustrated me about this is the fact as to why did you wait a whole hour to notify us? the restaurant wasn't busy, and it wasn't a large order either. could have been better. read more

We came here after landing at Logan. The place is very homey and right in the middle of a neighborhood. So street parking could be a little challenging, but they're there. The place is very tiny and can get packed at any given time. We had to wait about 30 minutes to get a table. My wife ordered their deluxe Huevos rancheros con chorizo. These were really good. You get two crispy corn tortillas, kind of like hand made tostadas, topped with refined beans, eggs, chorizo, avocado and queso fresco. The salsa was really good and the avocado and chorizo went perfectly with every bite. The same green salsa was used for the chilaquiles I ordered. The dish is very similar in flavor, just prepared differently. The chilaquiles came with chicken, other than that essentially the same dish. It came with beans, eggs, sour cream and queso fresco as well. I really enjoyed our breakfast here and would definitely come back next time I'm in Boston. read more

My friends have been dying to take me to this authentic Mexican restaurant for a while. We finally went on a Saturday around noon. There were no available seats so we had to wait outside about 30 minutes for a table to open up. However, it was a beautiful day out so that was not a problem. For drinks my friends had the horchata and hot chocolate while I had the orange juice. Upon trying both of their drinks, I found out you couldn't go wrong with any of them. The horchata was considering light for a creamy drink and the hot chocolate was perfectly sweet. I couldn't tell if the orange juice was fresh squeezed but it certainly was sweet. We shared an order of guacamole and Queso Fundido. You could taste the fresh ingredients in the guacamole but the real star of the show was the melted cheese. Still popping hot from the oven, it provided a beautiful cheese pull before being gently placed in the flour tortilla. My friends ordered a chicken quesadilla and western omelette while I had a Sopa De Pozole. Since this was the first time that I tried this dish, I wasn't sure what to expect. I was happy I tried it since initial fascination was because it was a corn soup. Although a very small portion, since it was the lunch size, the extra side of rice I ordered made up for it. The soup was light and refreshing with the crispy fried tostada. We had no complaints for any of our dishes. To top everything off, we shared an order of the Crepas Con Dulce De Leche. The drizzled dulce de leche was delicious. I did find the pancakes to be fluffy but try so a little of syrup or butter was needed. Overall, we were more than satisfied with our meal and the service. Great little breakfast lunch spot in eagle hill. Brunch is great but the lines tend to get long on the weekends so get here early. The drinks are good, pancakes are light and crispy on the outside (depending on the day lol), the service is always great. Vegetarians beware! There's chicken broth or lard in the vast majority of dishes, including in items that are typically "safe". Pretty much all sauces, both types of beans, and the rice are not vegetarian friendly. So be sure to ask about ingredients when you order. Tonight I placed a takeout order for Sopa Azteca, that I've had before. Last time I ordered this soup there, I asked the server whether the soup was vegetarian, and she reassured me that it was. I ordered the soup today for takeout, and when I brought it home, it smelled off. I took a sip and it tasted weird. So I called the restaurant and they said it's made with chicken broth even though the menu description states "tomato broth". I'm so grossed out. read more

I'm usually visit for breakfast on the weekends to eat their chilaquiles rojas. It's spicy, & worth it! This time around, I ordered the Al pastor burrito which was loaded with meat, rice, piña, and guacamole. You won't be disappointed with anything on the menu. My brother chose this spot having seen it featured on one of Guy Fieri's shows. It peaked my interest after he told me they specialize in regional dishes from the state of Puebla where we have family ties. I was looking forward to comparing their food with the home cooking I was lucky to have enjoyed growing up and it did not disappoint in any way, shape or form! We started off with the guacamole and chips. The guacamole was freshly made and delicious. The chips were puffed, crispy and full of flavor. The green and red salsas were outstanding with just the right amount of bite. We asked for a sample of their mole poblano which was so good it made us pause and reminisce of mom's mole, it is that authentic! The chocolate came thru perfectly which is my favorite ingredient in mole sauce. My brother has quite a discerning palate when it comes to mole and one taste of the sample we got had him quickly ordering the Mole Poblano de Angela with Chicken. He was in absolute heaven based on his silence as he savored every bit of the beautiful plate placed before him. I ordered the carne asada which is a perfectly cooked, exquisitely flavored sirloin steak. Each plate came with a side of rice and beans both of which also had that authentic home cooked flavor. Now let's talk about their house made tortillas. The carne asada does not come with tortillas but I was compelled to order a side for myself after my brother gave me a piece of his (small piece). Again, we paused and reminisced about mom in the kitchen making her tortillas with the same incredible taste and smell. The masa was expertly prepared and they were cooked to perfection. Service was very good we felt quite attended to. At one point I dropped my fork and was fine going with the 5 second rule but before I could get to 5, one of the waitresses was already at the table with a clean fork for me. I absolutely love Angela's!! I have long held that it is the best Mexican restaurant in the Boston area and they have yet to prove me wrong. This time I got a quesadilla, which they make to perfection, and a taco arabe, which was also great. I also split an enchilada de mole since the mole poblano is said to be the specialty here--rest assured it lived up to the hype. My friend got a few tacos and a gordita and described them as "delicious, very good, authentic one might say--luscious yet light, like an angel tap dancing on your taste buds." On this visit I believe I figured out one of the secrets to Angela's brilliance: the tortillas. I believe they must be specialty made, and they are what elevates the simple dishes to their stratospheric status. Location is prime if you're willing to travel to East Boston, but it's an amazing spot if you're already in East Boston. Feels very local, and just overall enjoyable. One word: OBSESSED. This small little spot in Eastie is the perfect place for your breakfast needs, mixed in with some authentic Mexican cuisine as well! For $9 you're getting three GIANT fluffy pancakes. It was literally bigger than my hand. I had to share this with my sister because I couldn't possibly eat all of it on my own. The dulce de leche was perfectly sweet, and it went so well with the pancakes. Normally any type of sweetener would taste too overpowering, but not with this! Might be one of my favorite pancakes to date! When I saw that they had tacos and that they were serving them in the AM, I HAD to get some. I went with the TACOS AL PASTOR and it was amazing! I love corn tortillas, so I was happy that it came with that. The meat wasn't dry and the pineapple was sweet. It balanced out super well together. Whenever I eat breakfast, I need both sweet and savory, so this combo with the pancakes was soooo good. And of course, we also shared the CHILAQUILES. This dish had a bit of everything that I loved in one plate. You got your corn tortillas, chicken, sour cream, avocado, eggs, and more!!
