I was hoping to meet a tinder date here since she suggested it but something came up last minute so I just ate here by myself. She mentioned that she comes here with her coworker after work sometimes and their drinks are very good. I asked her how the burritos were and she said she did not order one, but her coworker did and his was so large it could hardly fit in her mouth! I just had to see what all the fuss was about. I've always walked past this place in my neighborhood and it's consistently been busy with a mix of both locals and visitors alike. One evening I decided to give it a try. this is following a long and exercise field day so I really needed some thing to nourish all of those calories expended. I have the combination all included tacos platter and my friends had the meat platter and tostones chicken. The food is really feeling and hit the spot. If you're looking for some Mexican food this is a great spot to check out in Boston. The meat is less thin and grilled compared to a typical Carne Asada and gives off more of a steak vibe and it's great! Food was average, the chips and salsa were very very disappointing! It was literally watery with no type of chunks in it! The chips seemed very generic like it came out of a bag they weren't warm, salty or anything. Best part of my meal was the rice and beans! Service was extremely slowwwwwww. My friend told me this was her favorite place and it did not disappoint. Juicy meat, freshly made tortillas super cheap food. So filling I would go back for more every time. I got food to go but I saw the drinks they were making and other options and everything looked amazing. They also have arepas which were so filling. Definitely coming back. read more

Yes I do work however, today is bill day and all bills are due and my money is tight i go into taco mex looking for the cheapest thing on a menu chips and salsa great 5 dollars. unfortunately, I didn't have enough to cover the $.35 tax so guess who didn't get chips and salsa I even offered to swipe my card. Had a decent experience at taco mex this weekend. It's right off the maverick t stop so the people watching from the outdoor seating is out of this world. The margs are good, I think on the rocks are better here than the frozen and I usually only drink frozen. The staff is really nice and the guac is also delicious and fresh! read more

What we tried was the chips with guacamole, and the fried plantains with guacamole and chicharron. The chicharron was good in flavor, but a little too hard to the point you had to take it off the fried plantain and eat it on its own. Overall pretty good. I wouldn't drive from another city to go there, however if I were walking down the street and happened to be hungry I'd probably stop there again. read more

I love Mexican food so when my friend suggested we try this spot I was all in. We visited on a Saturday night and while they were busy we were still able to grab a table. The waitress was kind and never overbearing which we appreciated. The margaritas are strong and the portion sizes are large. I tried the shrimp tacos which were amazing. My entree was the steak dish with sautéed onions, rice and beans, salad and grilled sweet plantain. I found my steak tough which was disappointing but everything else was yummy. I would definitely recommend this restaurant and will try another dish when I return! read more

Not happy. I am not from the area but wanted to order Mexican food. We Ordered take out. I was very excited to try their food. Woman who took my order via phone call understood my order and gave me an order number and went to go pick up my order about 30 mins later. When I arrived-servers had limited English and had no idea who I was or what I ordered. The servers did not even try to ask me about my order and dismissed me and my order. I felt very embarrassed at that time and left the store thinking I had the wrong restaurant Because they told me they did not have an order for me. About an 1 hr later, I received a call from the restaurant asking if I still wanted the food I ordered. I told her I did not and had to order from somewhere else. I explained my recent experience. For East Boston, the food here is average, the drinks are over priced and the staff isn't very friendly. The only drinks that are decently priced are the beer ($4/bottle) but the selection isn't great. The quesadilla was literally just meat and cheese, as opposed to every other place we've been which came loaded with tons of veggies. We also got an order of the carne asada and I had to ask for tortillas, it came off that they were not going to bring them and only did because I brought it up. Overall, there are MUCH better places to eat in East Boston. read more

I was going to grade them as a 2. But after discovering they focus on rec texmex I gave them a 3. For tex mex food they hit the margin. Food isn't incredible. It's okay at best. Their fajita mix plate is okay it lacks the beans that would come with a parillada. Michiladas aren't bad. I've had better at other Mexican restaurants in the area. This afternoon we were looking for somewhere to eat in East Boston and we ended up at this restaurant. When we entered the restaurant it was totally a dive and the place was dark. We bumped into some friends from Western MA which was nice and we ended up sitting close together because the place is so small. The traditional Mexican food was great, but I decided to step outside the box and try their raw oysters and shrimp plate as well as their Papusas. The papusa was delicious but the oysters on a half shell were terrible. They weren't shucked correctly and there were so many shell piece in the oysters that it took away from the meal. The price was also a bit much for the quantity and quality. Overall, the meal was decent but I am upset with the fact that I decided to buy the oysters. In the future, if we stop here we will eat some more of their traditional items. read more

We stopped by here one evening to grab a bite. It's right near the Maverick station so it's convenient. It was a Saturday night and we got there after 6pm. There were a few tables occupied but by the time we were leaving, almost all the tables were occupied. The service was good but you can tell they were understaffed. We got the vegetable enchilada taco mex and the taco mex salad. The enchilada taco mex came with a salad on the side, rice, and beans. Both orders good and full of flavor.
