Enchiladas with green sauce and enchiladas with red sauce
    Mike T.

To be honest the main meals had me disappointed. We started with the pork nachos which tasted pretty good, but our enchiladas were lacking. They cut like they were frozen and heated up. We got both green and red sauce because I like things really spicy and the green sauce is listed as spicy. It was honestly like eating apple sauce. There was absolutely no spice and the sauce was watery so it was even hard to scoop onto the enchiladas. The service was pretty good. She brought us right in and was pretty quick on getting our orders in. The place was really nice and decorated very authentic Mexican.

I had the steak tacos and they were a 1000/10. Their meat is so well seasoned and tender and I consider myself extremely picky. Brenda was my waitress and she was so patient and knowledgeable of the menu. I can't wait to meet the chef the next time I go. I've been back 3 times this week.

So cute! Such cute wall art and our server was just a dear! Would totes recommend and the food was just so yummy!

Real, authentic and delicious Mexican restaurant that's a welcomed addition to the neighborhood. I sincerely it gets more city-wide attention - because its opening has been fairly quiet. My wife and I shared a few items and I was quite impressed by the Al Pastor tacos. Really bold depth of flavor, well portioned and just yummy. Honestly may be the best in the city, even better than Jalisco. Maybe similar level as El Amigo out in Waltham. Their aguachile ceviche was traditional, simple and pretty much perfect with spice and acidity. Everything was fresh - and there was notable attention to detail when it came to plating. Service was warm and friendly, and the atmosphere is quite vibrant. I love the artwork, color schemes and theme. Really looking forward to coming back for their pozole, cochinita pibil and other dishes. Highly recommended.

Clean, bright, fresh ingredients and friendly service. Beautiful artwork and fast preparation of food. The guacamole is outstanding with a nice balance of lime, jalapeño and cilantro. The homemade hot sauces are hot, the black habanero is super hot but tasty.

Oasis in a food desert. Festive, clean, comfortable with fresh tasty authentic Mexican dishes. Grabbed a quick lunch before flying out of BOS. So much better than the other options in the area (we walked out of 3 other yelp "highly rated" options). Quesadilla and taco salad had heaps of succulent chicken. This place is gonna blow up

This place just opened in Eas Boston, for the time being doesn't serve alcohol (waiting for liquor license) We went there for dinner, and the food was amazing, it tasted like the food I grew up eating in Mexico city, the pozole was one of the best I had in my life, the pescadillas Cancun style were a great way to start the meal, the tortilla soup was absolutely delicious a tomato base with Pasilla Chile and crispy tortilla strips, topped with sour cream was delicious as well, we had Birria, steak and chorizo tacos all were great, for dessert the cajeta stuffed churros were amazing served with a side of vanilla ice cream, this placed opened last Friday and I have only been able to go there one time, but I'm pretty sure I will be hitting that spot often. Gerry was a fantastic host, he was very attentive making sure that we were well taken care and that the food was of our liking, could not do enough for us, above and beyond!

Beautiful interior .The waitress was attentive and helpful. Chips and salsa was good .the condiments they have are very tasty.the prices was alittle bit outrages i paid 30$ for a steak breakfast burrito. It didnt have much stuffing in it i felt almost like i was getting ripped off we also got a torta with beef and same its like theres no protein in them and for the price its not worth it ..

This is such a cute little charming and intimate restaurant. The service was out of this world. I don't remember when was the last time we were treated like that. Such a great cozy date spot. We never felt rushed and our server was super attentive to details. The food was also really great, the guacamole tasted so fresh and we were wonderfully surprised by the pescadillas. 10/10 recommend!

Pretty mediocre food. Meat was overcooked. A Chicago 5, but maybe a Boston 7. A nice place to sit and watch a game though.

We walked into a small, unassuming space where the focus is squarely on freshly prepared food made with bold, authentic flavors. The dining room is modest and functional, with a counter and a handful of tables that give it the feel of a neighborhood taquería rather than a sit-down restaurant. The energy is practical and welcoming, with the open kitchen allowing us to see the tortillas being pressed and the meats being grilled fresh behind the counter. The birria tacos are the signature order and the dish that defines the menu. We ordered a few and found the tortillas crisped up on the griddle, the beef tender and well seasoned, and the rich consommé served on the side for dipping. The combination of the savory meat, the crispy tortilla, and the deep, slightly smoky broth made each bite feel layered and complete. Other standouts include the adobada tacos, which had a good char and a subtle spice that built gradually, and the lengua torta, with tender tongue layered between a soft roll and topped with fresh ingredients. The pozole was hearty and comforting, with a broth that carried the flavor of the hominy and meat without being overly heavy. The tamales, chicken flautas, and well-seasoned rice and beans rounded out the menu, each arriving hot and freshly made. The pickled onions and house salsas added extra flavor, and the horchata was a popular choice to pair with the meal, its cinnamon sweetness cutting through the richness of the dishes. Service was friendly and welcoming, and the restaurant maintained a relaxed neighborhood atmosphere that keeps people coming back. Despite its modest size, the kitchen moved efficiently, making it a reliable option for both dine-in and takeout. The staff checked in at the right moments and kept the pacing of the meal comfortable, ensuring that even when the small dining room filled up, the experience stayed smooth. If you are looking for authentic Mexican food in the Boston area, Taquería Jalisco stands out for its consistently flavorful cooking, generous portions, and menu built around classic recipes rather than modern interpretations. It is the kind of place where the food speaks for itself, and the simplicity of the setting only adds to the sense that you are eating something made with care and tradition.

I had been craving fish tacos for a really long time, and I was delighted to find a whole section of the menu dedicated to them. We started off with margaritas - one of the best companions to fish tacos - and I ordered mine spicy with jalapeño. For food, we shared the lobster empanadas and chorizo and potato taquitos. I ordered the tempura fish tacos for myself. Our margaritas were brought out shortly - mine was refreshing but lacked the kick from the jalapeño that I was hoping for (there was only one thin slice of pepper). Our food was brought out shortly, and I found it a bit overwhelming when our appetizers and tacos came out together. I started with my tacos, and these were excellent. The fish was flaky and fried to perfection, and I loved the rainbow of sauces and toppings. Plus, the tortillas were nice and sturdy and didn't tear. The lobster empanadas were super decadent, and I appreciated the substantial amount of lobster stuffed inside. I was too full to eat much of the taquitos but took a few bites. These also had good flavor but weren't standouts. Next time, I'd just get the tacos and maybe a light app. Towards the end of our visit, the restaurant seemed to clear out, and we had a difficult time trying to locate our server for the bill. Overall, we had a nice meal and satisfied the fish taco craving.

It is a cute spot, but just a heads up that the entrance is a little hard to find- I thought I had walked in through the back door. The restaurant is actually located in the public alley, not directly on Gloucester Street. The food was really good. I am obsessed with their rice and beans. Everyone seemed to love what they ordered! However, Im taking away two stars because of our service and our waitress. When we sat down, she casually asked, "Can I get you started with chips and guac?" At pretty much every Mexican restaurant I have ever been to, that phrasing implies it is complimentary. At no point did she mention that the guac was an added charge. We later found out we were charged $16 per guac, yes because she brought over TWO (!!) which totaled over $30, which felt really misleading. If something is meant to be an appetizer you are paying for, I expect it to be framed as, "Would you like to order any appetizers?" not presented as a default and free starter. That part left a sour taste in my mouth. I would consider coming back for the food, but I would be much more cautious ordering anything they recommend.

Locals stop in for a quick bite or grab their food to go, and workers come in, order, and are back out the door in no time. I ordered a carne asada taco and a veggie taco. The carne asada was flavorful, but the veggie taco completely exceeded my expectations. Instead of the usual peppers and onions, it was loaded with fresh corn, eggplant, zucchini, cauliflower, and a mix of peppers that added great flavor and texture. It was colorful, fresh, and filling without feeling heavy. The real standout, though, was their homemade habanero salsa. It packed incredible flavor with a serious kick. I could still feel the heat lingering on my tongue long after I finished eating. I loved every second of it.
