Bowl: Maybe "Plate" would be a more accurate description? The grilled chicken was more tender than it looked, not at all dry; the pico de gallo was very fresh, with just the right amount of tomato acidity; the guacamole was smooth, sweet and sour, both great accompaniments to the chicken. The rice was perfectly cooked, with each piece distinct, showcasing both the slight acidity of the tomato and the umami of the chicken broth. The door didn't stay close for long. Countless people kept coming in and out. There are 2 lines for food. I ordered the Super Burrito with Steak, Chicken, White Rice, Black Beans, Pico de Gallo, Sour Cream, Salsa Verde and Mexican Coke. It was so good we came back the next day. It's about $15-25 per person depending on what you order. Seating is first come first serve so you might have to wait for seats to open. There are seats on 3 levels. Not ideal for children. Viva la Mexico ! If you're planning to visit Harvard Square please stop into Felipe's as this place was so good we went back the next day. It's loud , it's busy but it's GOOD. It's about $15-25 per person depending on what you order. I had the super quesadilla and a Mexican Coke the first time and then a mini ( it's still huge ) quesadilla with tons of toppings , a Mexican Coke and flan the second time and it was about $27. Seating is first come first serve and it's super loud and busy no matter what day of the week but it's worth it. I don't recommend if you are with small kids or strollers because of the seating as they have a second floor seating area and roof top area that would make it hard to carry food and kids since there are no trays. During a recent visit to Boston and a side trip to Harvard, we found ourselves hungry for lunch. After visiting a couple of Harvard book stores we ran across Felipe's Taqueria and, like magic, we found ourselves inside. Felipe's is kind of like QDoba, Chipotle, and Moe's, but better and on steroids. There's not one food line, there are TWO food lines that work from opposite ends of the restaurant to the center. First you chose what you want (burrito, bowl, etc) and add your ingredients as you go down the line. These food preparers are Master Class, adding your ingredients with amazing speed. Before you know it you're at the point where you pay and get your drinks. We visited on a Saturday afternoon, so it was hell-on-wheels busy, but this team was hustling 100%. The customer flow was constant and this place was slammin'. The seating accommodations are mixed, with tables and high-tops on the first floor, then an additional seating area on floor up. For those who want something more than your typical soft drink or soda, there's also a bar towards the back of the establishment. The décor is subtle but well suited, not over-doing anything so it look gaudy. The food, while put together with amazing speed, was absolutely, 100% delicious. I've been to Felipe's Taqueira a couple of times in my trips to Boston and each time it's been a fairly solid experience. In my most recent trip this summer, I got a steak burrito with some guacamole and chips and a Horchata. All were fairly tasty and I would recommend. Generally when I get casual Mexican food, I usually get it from a truck instead of Chipotle to get a more authentic taste but Felipe's definitely suffices and hits the mark. I personally love their steak quesadillas but my friends usually get their burrito. It's always packed in here as it's situated in the heart of Harvard Sq. Sometimes you have to walk around and wait for a table. You'll find this is a popular spot amongst college students--especially late at night. Super popular place near Harvard square and recommended to me by two different friends. There was a line but it moved quickly. It was bustling on a Thursday night. I got the roasted veggies bowl and my friend got the chicken bowl, both were tasty and had good portions. They came with hot corn tortillas which I really liked and the salsa was self serve. We also got their new mango habanero wings, which my friend was not a fan, and I didn't think much of. Even though it was really busy, there was a lot of space. We found a spot on the second floor then came downstairs to get their frozen margaritas. These were stronger than I expected and we tried prickly peach, strawberry and passion fruit. They add different flavours on the frozen margarita base and I liked the passion fruit while my friend liked the strawberry. While I love Anna's more than Felipe's for it's more authentic approach, you can't beat the environment here or the customers that come in or the staff. The staff are some of the hardest working people I've seen and you get unlimited condiments and I wasn't even charged for guacamole. Whether that's an oversight or part of their business model. The biggest Takeaway is that for under 10 bucks I was able to get a chicken quesadilla that was great quality. You find that nowhere in the city, yet alone right in Harvard Square. So they get major brownie points in this department. There's seating on ground level as well as upstairs. Conveniently located across from Harvard's campus. Food was fresh and tasty. Lost a star b/c staff was not very friendly and some of the furniture need repairing. Our booth, for example, was completely split open and seemed like it had been that way for awhile. We went with a plate of nachos (I saw a group eating them and they looked awesome). Firstly I wanted to give a shout out to the staff, who were churning out orders faster than I've ever seen. The whole kitchen crew was running like a well-oiled machine. I have never seen a burrito get rolled so fast. Our nachos came out with an absolute heap of meat, cheese, and other toppings. I would give Felipe's in Harvard Square 0 stars if I could. I came here with my roommates on a Tuesday night, around 8PM, and was absolutely disgusted at what I saw. First off, the line was trailing out of the store through Harvard Square, which set my expectations for the food to be exceedingly high. But when I got to the counter, I was absolutely horrified. The food looked absolutely disgusting, with every single ingredient mixing together-- the cross contamination was extremely alarming. I am aware that food that is served countertop, as such, is subject to at least some cross contamination, but this was so bad that I couldn't tell which ingredient belonged in which tray. On top of that, the servers kept a FILTHY rag which was covered in old water and dirt on the counter where the food was. Are you kidding me? I immediately lost my appetite and was scared to order, but I was so hungry and we had waited in line that I bit the bullet and decided to order anyway. I decided I wasn't going to take many chances, so I ordered a quesadilla with just chicken and cheese. When I got to the counter, I paid for my quesadilla and a bottled water, but the cashier charged me for a cola. I tried to say something but she disregarded my request and motioned that I need to keep moving to keep smooth flow of the line. I accepted my fate and my roommates and I sat down. I tried my quesadilla, and immediately knew I couldn't finish it. It tasted and smelled absolutely putrid, for lack of a better word, like smelly socks. I didn't eat the rest of it. A great solid go to spot for mexican food, that isn't chipotle. Same idea, but more authentic. My boyfriend and I would come here every so often, and it would satisfy our cravings. I will say that the al pastor is a little too oily but still has great flavors. We always get the 3 dips with their chips. I would say they are pretty consistent with their food, but there were some times that the salsa would be spicier or the chips would be harder & thicker. saved my life after seeing a show at the american rep that got out at like 9:45pm, meaning a lot of places were closed or about to close. i went into a convenience store and asked for recs, and got directed here. the food was really good, i got a chicken bowl, and surprisingly cheaper than i thought it would be. i'm gluten free (not celiac) and didn't get sick after eating here. they have corn tortillas too, not just flour wraps. the staff was super sweet, i was exhausted and at my limit and one of the staff even offered to take my plate for me when i was done (the food bar was like a chipotle line setup, it's not a menu sit-down place, so it was just very nice of her). next time i'm stuck in cambridge late at night this is where i'll go! read more
