This is the most healthy fast food on earth! There is nothing more delicious than a Poki bowl with tasty salmon, tuna, yellow tail, shrimp, tako, smelt eggs, crab or spicy tuna. I have been absolutely DYING for a poke place to open in north sd county. I come from Orange County where there's poke places everywhere so I may be spoiled and have high standards when it comes to rating these places. Each place has their own spin on it 1. There is not enough fish portion, could be a bit more 2. Avocado is usually included but this place charges $1 but I guess there aren't any other poke places around this area so they can charge for it 3. Spicy sauce has a good spicy flavor but overall can add a bit more sauce 4. Overall I'd give it 4 stars read more

This place has good tasting food. I am giving this place 2 stars because it is misleading. They claim to have Poke but it isn't. It is just some raw fish with a bunch of random sides over rice. If your looking for Poke how they do it in Hawaii then DO NOT GO HERE. This place reminds me of a mixture between Chipotle and Poke. It is build your own bowl and they don't even have the traditional Poke sauces that you find in Hawaii. It makes you want to ask the person who created this place if they have ever been to Hawaii. I came back to Poki Poki. Two more times, to be exact. This time around the service and portions were better. The spicy tuna had personality and the fish was fresh! My bowl, as whole was so much more satisfying. I still don't like having to pay extra for avocado and Crab, but Poki Poki hits the spot. Like I mentioned earlier, I think I originally caught them on opening day, or maybe the day after. So I was willing to try them again after things settled down. And I'm glad I did. read more

I've been to this place 2 times now and have decided I will not be back. The fish was not fresh and it was hard and chewy. I had to spit most of it out because it was tough or just did not taste good at all. They also had some dried onions and garlic which I did not get because the serving spoon was inside the dish. This is not sanitary- especially since they handle money and credit cards and do not wash their hands in between customers. Gross. My husband and I had to throw it away half-way through eating it since we were so disappointed in the quality of it all. read more

Just had this for dinner with my wife and kiddos. It was great. This was our first time so we needed help with the menu. Poki Poki is the best! There are two locations in Oceanside and both are great. I have been going to both since they first opened and am there typically once a week if no twice. They have made some changes since opening that are not my favorite but I realize it's a business and sometimes changes need to be made. For example, they used to not charge for extra seaweed. Now it's $1 extra (still fine with that) but most recent change makes it so that even with extra scoop you are only getting equivalent to what used to be one scoop which is disappointing. With all these changes I think it would be awesome to see some sort of frequent buyer card. Like buy 9 bowls get the 10th one free. Just an idea! read more

Eh... i think in getting spoiled. I've been eating poke around North County and I've had better. The storefront is small with limited seating. It was clean but cluttered with stacks of soda can on the floor in the corner. Food is good and their regular bowl is larger than most, and more expensive by about $1. Would i go there again? My wife and 2 sons went there for lunch yesterday and 2 of them had problem after eating their lunch. They all ordered the salmon bowl but my younger son skipped the sauce. He did not have any issue but wife and the other son both had diarrhoea after finishing their lunch till the end of the day. We believe there is some problem with the sauce but not 100% sure. By the way, the fish does not taste fresh at all ( even though it is not fresh but you can still tell whether it is good or bad ). Anyway it is not a good experience.... read more

Love love love this place. I really can't emphasize how awesome this place is. I've brought my whole family, boyfriend, and classmates here. Very friendly service despite them being so busy all the time. Very decent prices for they literally stack the protein and toppings onto the bowls. As a frequenter of Yoshinos in Carlsbad and an Asian I was skeptical of this place because of its frozen yogurt esque storefront with the typical American choose whatever you want style. But I have to say i am impressed. The fish was fresh, the seaweed salad is spot on, they have imitation crab as a free topping which is classy, and their sauces weren't too sugary. I very much enjoyed my bowl and would go back a lot. I was debating whether or not it should get a 4 or a 5 because it was more like a 4.5, I've had better fish but at the price I think its awesome, and the friendly customer service pushed me to be more generous. The only thing is the rice, it was still hot which I found strange so I threw it in my freezer at home for a couple minutes. They should definitely offer cooled rice for poke bowls. But I am being picky and at 10 bucks for 3 fish options, this was one of the best lunches I've had in a while read more

Stopped in here yesturday after work to give it a whirl. All in all it was pretty good and a great value for what you get. Now, I'm not expecting fresh fish for $10 either. If they were using fresh fish, it'd be more like $15-$20 a bowl people, get real. It was really good and I plan on coming back more often! P.S. They don't have high chairs yet, so be patient. A great concept, well executed. I like to describe this to friends as a poke version of Chipotle. I often get cravings for sushi and Poki Poki is a great way to fill that raw fish itch without the cost or time commitment of going out for sushi. I have been here several times and the food and service have been great. They can crank the bowls out in an assembly line so there generally isn't a line. The fish and toppings have always been fresh and never fishy tasting. The interior is clean and modern. Definitely my new favorite fast casual option. You start with selecting regular/large bowl size, which I think only affects whether you get 3 or 4 scoops of fish. You then choose your base - white or brown rice, salad, or chips, or any combination thereof. Lately, I've been liking a mix of white rice and salad. Next stop is the fish and sauces, where you select from an array of raw and cooked seafood. They have been adding some new options lately, like albacore and scallops. I change up my fish mix every time, but almost always include ahi and octopus. You choose how spicy your sauce is - note: their spicy is actually fairly hot. Then you can choose all the toppings you want - things like imitation crab meat, seaweed salad, masago, fried garlic, tempura crunch, various veggies, etc. Finally, you finish up with some additional sauce and sesame seed options on top of it all. My bowls have always been stuffed to the top of the lid and have been awesome. Over the course of the few months I have been going there, I have noticed more seafood and topping options getting added. I really appreciate that they aren't set in their ways and are adding new options. My only complaints are that I wish they offered seasoned sushi rice (or the option to add rice vinegar) and that they charge extra for avocado. It seems like some of the other add-ons would cost them as much as avocado, but they might be making sure they are covered for prices going up out of season. In any case, there are enough other options that I can live without avocado. This is really a great concept that I could see becoming a local chain. I definitely plan to keep coming back and showing this place to friends. read more

This place is truly my newest obsession. I go here as often as possible which is averaging about 3-4x per week now, or pretty much anytime I have to go by College on the 78. I absolutely love the FRESH food idea, that everything is really clean and pure and tastes amazing. It's also great for my wife who has severe food allergies and can get deathly ill from cross contamination which makes it hard for us to eat just about anywhere so it is nice to have a place we can eat together. It always tastes amazing, a great selection of seafood for the bowl and toppings and I can tell they take meticulous care in constantly changing gloves between customers. I wish we had one right here in downtown Oceanside by my house that I could walk to!! I hope this becomes a large chain operation because it is the most healthy food for a great price. I always get the large bowl for $10.50 because you can never have too much ahi. It's healthy, it's fast, it's convenient and I've already turned about 6 friends on to this place not to mention the countless others that have gone on their own due to my constant Facebook posts about this place.
