Very disappointed tonight.I frequent Poki Poki and have always had great experiences, until tonight. The employee lacked communication skills and came off as rude. I explained which proteins I wanted and the worker kept telling me I world have to pay for the extra scoop. I didn't ask for an extra scoop, I asked for 4. I asked for a base of springmix salad. When I got home, I noticed the bowl was only half full with very little amounts of each item I had chosen and there was maybe 5 bites of the springmix. I had to add my own springmix from home to fill the bowl. It was very disappointing and made me sad. read more

So went here from all the great reviews and fantastic pictures of large quantities of food in a bowl warning... Not giving the same amounts as the soft opening...and I asked for not spicy for both meals and can I have the sauce on the side. he indicated that's fine i can get it at the end of the line in little to go containers when i pay. some how when we dug in at home it was so spicy that it lost its enjoy ability. Did not see when they mixed the spice in. My mouth is still burning and I have a tummy ache starting. I hope we did not make a mistake. Gonna stick with Teri cafe Just my opinion. I recommend you give this place a try...could be better for another person. This mistake hurt me. I was really excited to find out when I heard there was going to be a poke place opening not too far from my job in Carlsbad. Came here for lunch during the soft opening and the line wasn't too long. They do 3/4 scoops for 8.95/9.95 which is pretty dang cheap! I got the 4 scoops with half rice half salad and ahi tuna and salmon and all the toppings except avocado (+1) and wasabi. The fish was definitely fresh, but could be more saucy! Other than that I thought the food was good for its price. Def will come back to try again! read more

I didn't expect much being it was my first time, but OMG it was so yummy!! It's like sushi without the roll! If I lived in Oceanside I'd be back daily to enjoy a small bowl! Another new poke shop opens in the north county. This is another good one that's worth while. The fish is fresh and it's pretty good for the price. Some might consider 10 for a big bowl as expensive but, let's be honest people. It's sushi grade fish, can you make it at home for less than that? The answer is no. I generally make my own from home and getting all the ingredients together can be pricey. My favorite poke spot is still Teri's cafe but this place is still another good one if you're into sushi but don't want to spend sushi prices. Food wise: I went with the ahi tuna and spicy tuna. Both were fresh and seasoned nice. Ambience wise: fast food.. You can get in and out without wasting your lunch break. Service: they are quick and friendly Price: as I said earlier, it's decently priced. Most of the poke spots have the same rates. Teri's cafe is a dollar less but that's still equivalent. Overall. It's very simple to order: first, you pick either rice or salad or half/half, second, you pick your seafood (3 or 4 scoops), third, you pick level of spiciness, then the toppings. She spoke so highly of it, i had to check it.. instructions on how to order are posted on the wall, they were simple and clear, options to mix the combination of what you wanted were very convenient. The fish seemed to be fresh, all topping are free except for avocado. This was once my favorite Poki bowl until unreasonable changers were made. I won't list them all, because I understand sometimes adjustments are needed. Yellow tail, perhaps the foundation of anything Sushi is no longer available. That's like ordering pizza and being told. Sorry we no longer have pepperoni. I have been to Hawaii and this is DEFINITELY not the best Poki bowl. It's like Taco Bell to a legit Mexican restaurant. The Poki portion is so tiny that it shouldn't be called a Poki bowl. When you order your "scoops" it's the size of a melon baller ha ha ha and the server does not scoop she shakes really really good every bit of Poki that doesn't stay in the melon ball size scoop. Now they PACK the fixings for sure in your bowl but honestly I didn't taste any Poki. Terri's Oceanside Poki bowl is a great example of a real Poki bowl from Hawaii. It's lot of money $10 bucks for a Poki-less Poki bowl. Now it did taste WONDERFUL but it is A LOT of money for very little Poki and a whole lot of fixings. The staff was friendly. Restaurant clean and fresh. I would probably come back one more time to see if they have changed their way but otherwise I will probably stick to a real Poki bowl. **UPDATE** They have improved their Poki portions so I upgraded to 5 stars. The customer service is okay but it's obvious that their employees do not want to be there come on.
