Met up with friends for lunch here on a Monday and the restaurant was empty of customers. Very sad to see since we did have a good experience here. Great customer service from the young lady who was working that day. She was very friendly and would check on us often. She also helped us decide what to order since it was our first time there. The restaurant was out of a few items that we were hoping to order so her suggestions were appreciated. We all enjoyed what we had ordered. The chamorro fried chicken, the sweet and spicy, and Guam bomb were all good. We also ordered desserts. I forgot what they were called but they tasted like beignets and were served with strawberry ice cream. Yum!

UPDATE - NEW LOCATION Hafa Dai... - FOOD: good - PRICE: fair - SERVICE: island hospitality - AMBIANCE: updated and cute A review is overdue! Whoa.. after looking at my last review it's been over 13yrs ago and I didn't even live here yet and was in the area for vacation. Their new location is in the heart of downtown Oceanside and I find it very fitting for it! Very nice restaurant with outdoor front seating, inside seating, and outdoor back seating. Food menu looks the same to me. Good music jamming too. LOCALS DELUXE ($20.99) - One choice of meat and one lumpia paired with red rice and salad. Went for the pork ribs! Portion to price was fair.. portion may out weight the price for this plate. I received (3) pork rib, meaty one too (did I get hooked up, I felt like I got hooked up!). The red rice was good but average, the lumpia was just ok - def had better elsewhere, and the salad was a nice break from savory on top of savory. The restaurant is dog friendly (outside areas only). Sat in the back outside area - very cute space. Will say the further back tables are way too high for the chairs, my shoulders were near level to the table making it very uncomfortable to eat (I mean if you was Samoan or Tongan, than this would be ideal. I'm Filipino and this was not ideal). I switched over to the tables closer to the inside as those tables were leveled properly. Will def be back for my Chamorro fixes. ...SI Yu'os Maase

This is the new location in Oceanside down the street from the Oceanside Transit Center. We had the best time at this location. I brought my dog and there were two separate outside seating locations for us. Lots of grass and great energy. There was amazing food and Mac salad. The perfect bbq spot. When there was complications with the grill, the chef Eric made sure that we were in the loop, and we walked around to wait for the backup grill to warm up. They were super understanding, and we had the best afternoon here. Lovely place to stay for a while with a pet, and we were enhanced with the red rice they served. We felt attended to by all servers, and our dog was offered water twice. Thank you Eric and Guahan Grill!

If you're looking to break away from the usual burger and pizza routine, this is the spot! The food is a fantastic change of pace--authentic, flavorful, and hits that 'island comfort' craving perfectly. The service was also great; the staff was super welcoming and made the whole experience feel like a meal with family. We ordered the Maga Lahi (Chiefs Plate), and it was an incredible spread. For $42.99, you get a massive variety including BBQ chicken, pork ribs, chicken kelaguen, and an empanada, all paired with their signature red rice and salad. Everything was incredibly delicious and the portions are generous. Definitely a hidden gem in Oceanside if you want something unique and delicious. I'll be back for more red rice and kelaguen soon!

I didn't know they moved and this is such a better location for them! I love their food. It's been a long time! Service was good. She was very attentive. I like how they have the big Tetris balance game in the back. We came during happy hour. So I got a red wine for $2 bucks off and we also got the spicy bbq wings! 6 for $8 all the apps we order were half off. We got the spam roll and the ahi poke nachos. We got the LOCALS DELUXE with chicken, lumpia, macaroni salad, and rice. Everything was just as bomb as I remember it and the sauces are so good! We came at a good time because there were plenty of tables and the parking wasn't bad this day.

I was out in the area and wanted to try some Chamorro food! We don't have much in Long Beach so we drove out here to Oceanside. Came across this place and it was actually pretty good. I gave the place a 5 star because the service was excellent, the place felt very homey and welcoming. The food was pretty content. I got the Guahan special, it came with one empanada, red rice, chicken kelaguen, & a choice of protein. I chose the pork bbq ribs. AND OMG... the pork bbq ribs were delicious and tender! You ever get that feeling that you're full but the food is so good you just have to keep eating? YES that was ME! LOL The red rice was decent, I've have better red rice but it was still pretty good. The empanada though, I'd have to give it a 5/10. Too much of the flour and not enough filling. Chicken kelaguen would be a 7.5/10, wish it was a little more tangy than salty. The daigo radish & cucumber was a 8.5/10, the flavor and everything was there, just wish it was slightly thin sliced! They were thick af! LOL we also got the Chamorro ribs special it was basically fried ribs & I'd rate that a 8.5/10. Overall check this place out if you want some good Chamorro food in Oceanside!

TL;DR - Guamanian cuisine! Really good if you like barbecue type foods. Guahan special comes with spare pork ribs or chicken, an empanada, chicken kelaguen, rice, and salad. Also got the chamorro fried chicken which also comes with rice and salad. Both solid options and will be coming back. Never had Chamorro cuisine before! It's Guamanian food for those who've never had it before. I never thought I'd be able to try this cuisine to be honest. I was really intrigued when I saw it on Yelp and decided to give it a shot. Their food is really good here. If you like tender, fall off the bone, short ribs then this is your place to go! It seems like they barbecue most of their meats here which was a huge plus for me. We got the Guahan special which comes with spare pork ribs (or chicken), chicken kelaguen, empanada, rice, and a salad. The spare pork ribs were smoky, tender, and delicious. The chicken kelaguen is chopped barbecue chicken that's pulled apart and mixed with seasoning and spices. The empanada was a nice surprise and was surprisingly good lol. Also got the chamorro fried chicken. It comes with two scoops of rice and a salad too. No regrets with either choice. Next time we'll try other options! Highly recommend this place. Quick and professional service. Great ambiance for friends and family.

Stopped in for a weeknight dinner and it happened to be happy hour from 3-6 so that was awesome! We tried the poke nachos, wings & spam roll & they were all so good! I shared a plate called the locals deluxe and it was perfect for two with grilled chicken red rice & Mac salad everything was so tasty I could eat here weekly!

I came across this new restaurant when I was in the area and what da ya know...I looove island food! My eclectic palate was curious to try it. When I walked in, I immediately was greeted. The staff were very pleasant and attentive since it was my first time...even helped me with the menu options to make my decision. Looking at the cultural decor, I felt the chill island vibe for sure. I enjoyed listening to the music while I wait for my food. The service was pretty quick. I saw my food coming and I was feasting my eyes on the Chamorro style fried chicken, yellow rice and mac salad. I couldn't wait to eat. Fast forward...it was sooo deeelicious....makes me wanna go to Guam. Let's go Yelp Community!!

Been missing some chamarro food for a while And I've been eyeing this spot since it's the closest to me. We were in the area for a tournament and I made sure we tried this spot. Their plates are pretty big at a decent price. Unfortunately I am comparing this spot to one of our favorites in Vegas and it lives up its own. The red rice is ok. It's definitely not better. Their meats are tender and flavorful... their empanada is good also! I love the sauce. Their Mac salad is pretty good too. I didn't care too much for the egg roll but my kids devoured it. It's a nice spot to try and get your fix. The service was good by the guys in the back but the girl serving us seemed lost when I asked questions...

I was on a foodie walk and saw Lumpia on the menu. Had to stop in. Very good price for four pieces. $10.99. They were crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. Very good dipping sauce too. Staff was friendly and I think the owner or manager stopped by to see how it was. We like it! The shop is very simple but clean. Feb 7, 2026

I just recently heard the news that this establishment will be relocating to downtown Oceanside and I just had to give them a try again before they made the move. Guahan Grill is a unique restaurant that serves cuisine from the island of Guam. It is one of the more unique dining experiences in Oceanside and provides a menu that varies away from the typical pizza, tacos, and burgers. The last time I ate here was, shamefully, about three years ago. I remember having a good experience and figured it was about time to familiarize myself with their food before they relocate. Understandably, they want to relocate because their current location is not conducive to foot traffic, and is also not visible from the main road. So this move to downtown will be good for them. Upon entering, I was greeted by their friendly staff and totally immersed by the reggae music playing. Their interior is split into two dining sections, which allows for plenty of seating for big groups & families. I also appreciate the use of wood paneling throughout the design and with their tables to give that tropical bamboo vibe. I was able to sample their chamorrow style fried chicken plate with red rice & cucumber salad. In addition, I had a Guahan Special with short ribs and it's a great deal with a great portion size. The highlight of the night was their Guam Bomb fries with bbq chicken & it was humorous & delicious! I heard their lumpias were magical! The price ranges were from $15-25 for a dish and the size was good for it. Guahan Grill will be missed in the inland Oceanside area, but I hope they thrive in their new Downtown location on Mission Ave.

We stopped in on a Wednesday afternoon during happy hour. We were not sure of the type of food they served, but so glad we gave them a try. We had the lumpia, empanadas, musubi, and banana donuts. Omg. So good! We just don't understand why it was so empty. Great happy hour pricing and very generous portions!

Ask the Community - Guahan Grill

Do they have boba drinks or can you bring from next door? Or is there any nearby public seating?

Are you open for dine in or outdoor seating?

I asked the manager and he told me they only allow their customers to eat outside in their patio chairs and tables due to the COVID-19 Virus.

Is the Guahan Grill Ocenside location still open or has it closed down?

It was there 3 months ago. I haven't been back since then though.

We ordered the 3 meats plate with a side of mac and cheese, thinking we'd leave in a food coma. Plot twist: for $45, we basically split a light snack. We asked for double ribs, but apparently ribs are weighed like gold here--so we got just a few sad little bones. When I asked the bartender, she hit me with a "it's weighted meat" and shrugged. Oh. Okay. Guess we're on a portion control diet now. The BBQ sauce? Meh. My mom and I both agreed it was giving "needs a little more love." The corn? Tasted like it defrosted just for us. Still decent, but not for the price tag. The mac and cheese though? A win. Warm, cheesy, and the only thing that arrived hotter than my mild frustration. Now let's talk service. Our bartender vanished mid-meal (poof! just like the ribs), didn't say bye, and didn't introduce her replacement. Instead, she sat at the bar with her friends while we played a fun game of "Where's Our Server?" Spoiler: we lost. Had to ask multiple times for refills. Not quite the relaxing "mom night out" I had in mind. My mom summed it up perfectly: "The prices went up, and the service went down." Poetry. Also, shoutout to the guy next to us who tried ordering half the menu only to be told, "Yeah, we're out of that" over and over. Management, a quick stock check might be helpful for you guest Lastly, don't come here if you're starving or in a rush. Our food took forever and was colder than my ex's heart by the time it arrived--minus the mac and cheese, the MVP. Would I come back? Maybe. But only after a snack and a pep talk. Management, if you're reading this, we just want hot food, a heads-up when the server disappears, and ribs that don't need a microscope to be seen. Is that too much to ask?

You snooze, you lose. (Funny note: I was told, in no uncertain terms, that they were out of chicken and that I would get extra pulled pork. When I got home, I found a large piece of chicken.) The best option is the Sampler plate. You get six different proteins, three sides, and three Hawaiian rolls. The proteins are chicken, hot link, tri-tip, brisket, ribs, and pulled pork. I thought all of the proteins were very good but I especially loved the hot link. I could have eaten three of these alone. The sides are also very good. The mac and cheese and potato salad--both clearly house made--were excellent. The house made beans were ok but a little hard. I didn't love them. They have three BBQ sauces to choose from (spicy--marked with a giant "X" on the little cup, sweet, and regular. They are all delicious but you really don't need any of them. That is a sign of good BBQ. The sampler plate gives you a ton of food. At $56, it seems expensive but it is not. This plate easily feeds three people and you will probably have some leftovers. I drove 30 minutes one way for this, waited about 15 minutes, and drove another 30 minutes home. It was very much well worth it. Good BBQ is hard to find in SoCal but it exists, if you make the effort. And this is very good BBQ at reasonable prices.
