The spicy ones we ordered had a great flavor and then we ordered the regular one to see the difference.. Definitely a step up from Caines. We ordered the fries with a cheesey Bburinkle powder. Not really a great taste as the powder just lies on the fries. Then we tried the Gold king Fried drumsticks. They were filleted and well cooked but a little tough. Same with the Red King chicken. They are everything they think they are!! Quick service, fresh food, efficient, easygoing conversation, and delicious meals. Ambiance is K-pop videos playing in the corner. This place is not a huge dining area, so I expect it to be busier in their rush hours. They even have iced lemon water for the customers. The atmosphere provided allowed open conversation between all of us random customers, but I loved that about this place. It's not necessarily the cheapest Korean chicken place you will find, but you are paying for quality which makes a significant difference. My sister has tried the cheeseling chicken at bb.q chicken and prefers the Bbruinkle cheese here. It was delicious and a flavor I wasn't expecting. Glad a Korean fried chicken place opened up in this area. Their classic fried was delicious and perfectly crispy. Also got to try their Matcho King sauce -- I'm not a fan of sweet sauces, which is why I always get mine plain. I almost tried their bburinkle, which was described as a cheese powder, but glad I didn't because it also has sugar in it. If you don't like sweet, gotta stick with plain at Korean chicken places! From the crispy sweet and crusty outer shell of the cheese balls to the subtly spicy sweetness of the rosé cakes. The chicken tenders are quite big. I would say 4-6 ounces of meat each. This location has been open for two weeks and they are already selling out of items in their menu. BHC in Carlsbad is located across the street from the Shoppes at Carlsbad, right by Vons. I ordered the 16 pc Hot Fried Chicken Wings. I enjoyed the crispiness and juiciness of the chicken. The flavor is nice too. I didn't really think it was that spicy though, so only reason why I'm giving it a 4/5. The Kimchi Fried Rice was tasty and actually more spicy than the Hot Fried Chicken. I had to run some errands in the area and I let my husband pick where we are going for lunch and he decided we should come here early into our relationship We did a trip to Seoul so I've got a soft spot for Korean fried chicken. Friend Chicken that's Korean flavors adjacent. Most sourthern Californians have had bold, authentic Korean flavors and ingredients and these are subdued to say the least. I understand it's globalized and toned down for the world palate, but It would do as well if not better by leaning more into the Korean aspect. As a stand alone friend chicken flavor it doesn't come close to Jollibee's so without that real flavor boost it's a little lacking. I really wish they would describe the red spice as gochujang. The friend chicken sandwich looks like the Burger King Sandwich pictures from the late 90's. Good crunch, decent oil, lacking marinade, feels like it's just seasoned. Not greasy/oily. Even fried chicken breast can be overcooked, but they push it. Kimchi fried rice or the rice bowl are to me the best items other than the combo. Fries and wedges are crisp, fluffy. The Kimchi fried rice has great texture. Decor is bland, service feel neutered compared to most Korean restaurants. It's weird that they have Soju which normally is quite good with fried foods, but without grilled meats it seems unbalanced. Like most Japanese Vinyl bars in the states they are opened by people who have never actually been to one in Japan. That is what it feels like here. I've eaten here twice. The food was OK but the ordering process was sufficiently annoying that I probably won't be back. I might return; I'd like to try their drumsticks at least once, but they haven't had any when I was there. They had boneless chicken pieces and chicken wings, neither of which is right for me. The coating-to=meat ratio on the wings was large, which might be customary but I didn't find it satisfying. The problem? There are too many choices, and no packaged recommendations. If I ate here a lot I might learn enough about the menu choices to know what I wanted, but I don't currently have a reason to do that. The name "BHC Chicken" intrigues me. One of the biggest musical acts in the world is the K-pop boy band BTS, which supposedly stands for something in Korean. I don't know if the choice of BHC for the name is a take-off on BTS, or if Koreans like mysterious 3-letter code names for things.
