DO YOU LOVE A GOOD CHEESESTEAK? Well, I heard about The Cheesesteak Grill on Oceanside Blvd and figured I'd give them a try. Normally, I'm not really one for a lot of meat, so I don't typically go to places like this. This hidden gem is conveniently found just east of the 5 Hwy and still 6 minutes from the beach! I heard they were under new management, so I came to see what would change from this business that's been here at this location for over 13 years. After speaking to the owner & learning he is a chef with an already successful BBQ business, I was relieved to know this place is in good hands. The Cheesesteak Grill is known for: CHEESESTEAKS * BURGERS * FRIES But they also have delicious wings! This makes perfect sense coming from an owner who has perfected the art of sauce making! So I can't wait to see what else he has in store! So far, I've thoroughly enjoyed the pizza hoagie, the garlic bomb cheesesteak sandwich, the buffalo & lemon pepper chicken wings and the Philly fries with bacon. The portion sizes for their sandwiches are ginormous and overflowing with meat! They don't skimp at all! The flavors were legit as well & everything felt balanced to me. Their prices are on-par with the quality and convenience of the location to downtown & the beach, as well as, access to the 5 Hwy ramp. Parking is great with access to a huge shared lot. Only the interior is a little "plain" and simply, but this isn't really a deterrent, as the food makes up for it (just not a fancy date spot). If you're looking for a solid cheesesteak, I highly recommend The Cheesesteak Grill on Oceanside Blvd. Overall, I'll be coming back here to try more of their menu!

Food was great. Cheese steaks had a lot of finely chopped beef and were very good. Had an original and hot and sweet. French fries have a good seasoning to them. The workers were both super friendly and restaurant was clean.

This place just reopened under new ownership. They remodeled a bit but some of the staff stayed on which is great. We had a mushroom cheesesteak with extra mushrooms and sweet potato fries. Both were delicious! The cheese steak was stuffed with tender beef and lots of mushrooms and it is large! The sweet potato fries were crispy and tasted fantastic. This place is a new family favorite and we will be back often. Thanks to the new owners for the improvements. Also: noticed on the new menu that they will be serving smash burgers soon, can't wait to try one!

Don't even second-guess this joint. My second time I ordered and today was national pizza day February and I decided to flip the script and do national cheesesteak pizza day. Called up the Cheesesteak Grill told him that I wanted to order this snack. They didn't deliver but DoorDash did and guess what they hooked me up huge with a wonderful awesome hoagie again.

Stopped in here after a long day at Legoland, the staff is super helpful, the food was awesome and the portion sizes are huge!

Yummy! I have been going here whenever I drive up north from San Diego and love it! It's hard to find a good cheesesteak, but they do good. I think they went through a change of management somewhat recently. The menu seems pretty similar though. I usually get the works with white American and grilled onions. Delicious! Sometimes I want to ask for extra cheese (since I love cheese) but not sure if that's an option. There is a decent amount inside already, probably plentiful for most people, but I really love cheese. Might try next time! Inside is pretty clean I'd say, there's tables available for people to sit and eat but a lot take it to go. There's plenty of parking outside as well

I haven't even took a bite yet, but something in my heart tells me that it actually tastes as good as it looks, and it looks mighty amazing. The people here are great has a real homey feeling and it's right off the freeway if you guys are ever in the area, this is a must go to spot.

Tried a new spot, and it was delicious! Definitely worth popping in for a cheesesteak or smash burger. Seasoned fries are little salty and sweet, yummy! Staff was great and super helpful.

Ask the Community - The Cheesesteak Grill

Why doesn't the Cheesesteak Grill sell Soft Drinks, Coffee, or Iced Tea? I ordered a Turkey Club Sandwich with fries today but no drinks are in their Menu.

Maybe COVID restrictions, bad lines?..They had bottle drinks in the fridge.

I was soooo excited about the Philly connection, as I'm very familiar with cheesesteaks having lived near Philly in a past life. Well, I was sorely disappointed. We were told that the bread is flown in daily from Philly. Well, I don't know where it's coming from because it's definitely not the same bread as what they normally use there. The sandwich and meat were dry and flavorless. Totally underwhelming unfortunately. So then we saw that they made key lime pie there too! Again, I was SUPER excited because key lime pie is my favorite dessert of all time. And again...disappointment. I took one glance and saw that it was light green in color and knew I was gonna be mad. Yall, Key lime pie is yellow. You should NEVER add food coloring. That's just gross and inaccurate. The texture and flavor were also off. Texturally it was way too thick and dense, which would have been fine if it actually tasted like key lime. But it was severely lacking in that tart key lime flavor that it's known for. I'd definitely go back because of the service and vibe. But I'll maybe try a burger and the cheesecake instead.
