Came here late afternoon on a weekend to give this place a go It was quiet when we got there (was told they get busiest between 5p-8p...nice to not have to wait in a long line to get in and get fed). Clean and spacious with a number of tables inside and a few seating options outside. We ordered Truffle and Cosmos burgers, and an order of "Frings" - half fries, half onion rings. Food came out quickly. It was delicious. Everything was fresh, hot, tasty, and high quality. Double smash patties for each of the burgers, fries done just right, onion rings with a lovely, crispy batter - everything well seasoned. Friendly, helpful staff. The burgers were phenomenal! The blue cheese was sooo good! The truffle burger was incredible! I thought the Better Mac would have been my favorite, and it was still good, but surprisingly, it wasn't my fave over the three. The chicken sandwiches are HUGE but I wished the tenders were tossed in the sauce/seasoning. They add the garlic parm on top of the tenders as they're assembled on top of the bun, so it doesn't completely coat the tender. IMO, it would be more flavorful tossed. However, the aioli sauces are just so delicious and to kill for! Even though this is also a smash burger leave, their burgers aren't thin and had a lot of bite to them! They're so worth it and hands down much better than across the street! read more

Most definitely recommend Cosmos. We ordered the (3) basic burgers, one with tater tots, the other with onion rings and another with regular fries. It was so delicious, mouth watery. 2nd time having cosmos counting this evening. A little behind on food reviews but here goes cosmos. This evening was pretty packed with about 20 patrons. We ordered a spicy jam burger,better mac and some truffle fries. Everything came out in a decent time even with many other orders before ours. The better mac named after the (Big Mac) was just that. Similar to the Big Mac just way better. King Mac.The star of the show this evening was the spicy jam burger. Soon as you take a bite you get a sweet and savory taste then 15 seconds later or so the spice comes kicking in and kicking in pretty hard. It's a tasty and interesting burger as I have had nothing like it. Wouldn't recommend if your spice level isn't decently high. The truffle fries are also top notch but eat them quick as they seem to cool rapidly. Our previous visit we had the blue cheese burger. Again another exceptional and tasty burger. This is honestly probably our favorite burger spot in downtown Oceanside due to the food itself. The burgers are always SO GOOD! Staff is always very friendly & helpful. The inside of the place is nice and clean, however the outside can be hit or miss. It's located on a busy street which can sometimes be flooded with people. Probably one of the best fried chicken sandwiches I have had at a restaurant and this is not in comparison to like Chick-fil-A or a fast food chicken sandwich, but we're talking about a storefront that really prides itself in burgers. They are actually making an amazing crunchy perfectly sauced with pickles type of chicken sandwich that you can eat and enjoy your meal. The sauces you have a variety from their house sauce to a mustard sauce that's very specific to each of the burgers and sandwiches. I would have to just rave about the unique brioche bun that they use then the sauce that they include inside, which is a mayo type of mix with the pickles and then you have the actual dipping sauce that I don't know how I can describe so overall great place to have lunch and I would say they have a variety of sides like tater tots and french fries and onion rings my friend and I opted for the onion rings and I'm really glad I did because they were very crunchy not overcooked and it was probably not the healthiest meal, but it tasted delicious. read more

Cosmos Burger is a restaurant located in the downtown Oceanside area. There's street parking nearby. It is walkable to the beach and pier. The burgers and fries were pretty good- it's not the cheapest, but still affordable for the portion size and quality. I tried the Cosmos Burger for $13 and the Chicks fries for $12. The burger felt like a standard cheese burger, but the chicks fried is the true stand out for me - the flavors of all components married each other well, and the fries were cooked to perfection. The surrounding areas walking to the restaurant can feel sketchy. Walk with a friend, not alone. There were suspicions characters lurking around the block that called others unkind names. I've come here every year since discovering this spot during my first vacation at Oceanside when they were new and just opened. Since then I have had a positive and tasty experience every time! The workers are so kind and even remembered my family just from the first time we came, they always come to check in on you and make sure you enjoy your food which shows how much effort they put into their customer service. I recently become gluten intolerant so now I'm just subject to order their gluten free burger option which is a lettuce wrap and I was worried it wouldn't be that tasty (I have to admit) but I was so fortunately wrong!!! We've heard multiple reports that Cosmos has the best burger in San Diego and had to check it out for ourselves. There are two locations but we wanted to visit the Oceanside location since I was wary of the quality of the Carlsbad food court location. We arrived late in the afternoon on a Saturday and managed to snag street parking right in front of the restaurant. They don't have a dedicated lot so you might have to circle around the block during peak hours. The restaurant itself is kind of small with a handful of tables and counter seats. I like that the windows all have high-top tables and you could people watch while eating. We ordered a lot for two people to try as much as we could. The food came out really fast but I wonder if that's the norm or if it was just because we were the only customers. Everything is brought out to your table and on pretty aesthetic-looking plates so the vibes felt a little classier than a fast food restaurant. Tater Tots and Truffle Fries: Both come with a decent amount and are great shareable sides. These came out crispy and the truffle smelled so good. On the menu, they only advertise truffle for the fries but I saw another group get truffle tots and I would've ordered that if I had known. Truffle Honey Chicken Tenders: Comes with 3 pieces and wow! These were some of the crispiest tenders I've had, even though they were covered in the sticky, honey sauce. And even though it was white meat, there was not a single tender that was dry. Highly recommend! Cosmos Burger: Toasted buns, double smashed patties with crispy edges...everything you'd expect from a high-quality smashburger. I thought their cosmos sauce was a little salty and it kind of made a mess but overall, it was a good burger. Although not my favorite smashburger in SD, it's definitely in my top 3. For my taste, this is the best burger in Oceanside. I mentioned this to the counter person once, and he pointed to a certificate hanging on the wall indicating that they apparently received an award for...best burger in San Diego. I love the juicy, flavorful, beefy smashburgers at Cosmos. So far I've had the BBQ Burger, the Blue Cheese Burger, and the Spicy Jam Burger--and loved them all. Absolutely delicious. Great sauces and ingredients (like microgreens) that bring a delightful balance of flavors. I've brought friends with me several times, building Cosmos up as the best burger in town, and though skeptical coming in none argued with me afterwards. They tend to also appreciate that Handel's ice-cream is just a few doors down for after. I've also enjoyed the onion rings and Cosmos fries. I'd rate them just delicious; while they don't stand out as much as those burgers, they're good and I'll keep getting sides when I'm hungry enough. All the staff I've interacted with at Cosmos have been nothing but friendly and helpful. I've felt welcomed and attended to. Near the corner of Mission and Cost Highway, the restaurant is pretty small. The ambiance is stripped down and modern, not the best if you're with a date and want to hang out and talk. I have appreciated the background music (and it is definitely background, not blaring over conversation). The restrooms are shared with other businesses in the building; ask for an access code before heading out the back door to the atrium. There's only street parking and public lots nearby. Often the spots on the street out front are all taken, but I start driving around the block and always find a spot (unless it's Thursday Sunset Market). I've always been able to find a table, though. I love to walk on the Oceanside pier, and consider Cosmos walking distance to the pier. In-N-Out might beat Cosmos when it comes for value--I can get 3-4 fine cheeseburgers there for the price of one burger at Cosmos--but if you're looking for the better tasting burger, choose Cosmos. read more

I had spotted it on Yelp and suggested we check it out. From the moment we walked in, we had a great experience. The staff was super helpful and patient with our questions. My brother ordered the Basic Burger, his girlfriend got the Cosmos Burger, my husband chose the OG Hot Dog, and I went with the Spicy Jam Burger. My husband and I shared, and we both agreed--this was hands down the best burger we've ever had. He said it might be the best of his life! Wanted to try a new burger spot but sadly left highly dissatisfied. My bf and I ordered a chicken sandwich & a regular burger meal that came with either tots/fries plus a drink. Every single one of their sodas were flat and the ice part of their soda machine looked so disgusting we opted out of ice completely. There was black stuff all on the inside and it looked moldy. It made it hard to enjoy a drink thinking about it. The Chicken lacked flavor completely and the fries were basic. The burger was VERY greasy overall, the tater tots were probably the best part of the meal which was $40 plus tip we spent $50 on a meal we will not be eating again. It was very hard to find a parking lot. And caution, cosmos burger is right in front of a bus stop. The entire front of the restaurant has a red kerb, so fair warning!!! Lol There isn't a lot of seating available. That said, they do try to make as much of seating possible. There are three tables outside along the walkway, and they even make use of the periphery of the restaurants to create seating that looks out to the walkway. We ordered a beer - cosmos lager and a lavender lemonade. The cosmos lager was ok - a little bland. The lavender lemonade was good, a little too sweet for me even though I requested less syrup. Nice light taste of lavender. We ordered a basic burger, the hot chicken sandwich, and regular fries. It took a while to come out, but it was delivered to us piping hot! The basic burger was delicious! Double patty smash burger with caramelised edges, and the bun was nice and soft. My hot chicks sandwich was delicious! The two tenders were crisp, hot, and delicious. Every bite was delicious. And the burger is so huge I couldn't finish it. The fries were wonderful, delicious, and crispy. It's one of the best fries we've had. We will definitely be coming back.
