We ordered a spicy jam burger,better mac and some truffle fries. Everything came out in a decent time even with many other orders before ours. The better mac named after the (Big Mac) was just that. Similar to the Big Mac just way better. King Mac.The star of the show this evening was the spicy jam burger. Soon as you take a bite you get a sweet and savory taste then 15 seconds later or so the spice comes kicking in and kicking in pretty hard. It's a tasty and interesting burger as I have had nothing like it. Wouldn't recommend if your spice level isn't decently high. The truffle fries are also top notch but eat them quick as they seem to cool rapidly. Our previous visit we had the blue cheese burger. Again another exceptional and tasty burger. We talked with the manager and he was explaining how the recipes are all made from scratch while using the highest quality of ingredients. Great Quality burgers. For my taste, this is the best burger in Oceanside. I mentioned this to the counter person once, and he pointed to a certificate hanging on the wall indicating that they apparently received an award for...best burger in San Diego. I love the juicy, flavorful, beefy smashburgers at Cosmos. So far I've had the BBQ Burger, the Blue Cheese Burger, and the Spicy Jam Burger--and loved them all. Absolutely delicious. Great sauces and ingredients (like microgreens) that bring a delightful balance of flavors. I've brought friends with me several times, building Cosmos up as the best burger in town, and though skeptical coming in none argued with me afterwards. They tend to also appreciate that Handel's ice-cream is just a few doors down for after. I've also enjoyed the onion rings and Cosmos fries. I'd rate them just delicious; while they don't stand out as much as those burgers, they're good and I'll keep getting sides when I'm hungry enough. All the staff I've interacted with at Cosmos have been nothing but friendly and helpful. I've felt welcomed and attended to. Near the corner of Mission and Cost Highway, the restaurant is pretty small. The ambiance is stripped down and modern, not the best if you're with a date and want to hang out and talk. I have appreciated the background music (and it is definitely background, not blaring over conversation). The restrooms are shared with other businesses in the building; ask for an access code before heading out the back door to the atrium. There's only street parking and public lots nearby. Often the spots on the street out front are all taken, but I start driving around the block and always find a spot (unless it's Thursday Sunset Market). I've always been able to find a table, though. I love to walk on the Oceanside pier, and consider Cosmos walking distance to the pier. In-N-Out might beat Cosmos when it comes for value--I can get 3-4 fine cheeseburgers there for the price of one burger at Cosmos--but if you're looking for the better tasting burger, choose Cosmos. read more

Probably one of the best fried chicken sandwiches I have had at a restaurant and this is not in comparison to like Chick-fil-A or a fast food chicken sandwich, but we're talking about a storefront that really prides itself in burgers. They are actually making an amazing crunchy perfectly sauced with pickles type of chicken sandwich that you can eat and enjoy your meal. The sauces you have a variety from their house sauce to a mustard sauce that's very specific to each of the burgers and sandwiches. I would have to just rave about the unique brioche bun that they use then the sauce that they include inside, which is a mayo type of mix with the pickles and then you have the actual dipping sauce that I don't know how I can describe so overall great place to have lunch and I would say they have a variety of sides like tater tots and french fries and onion rings my friend and I opted for the onion rings and I'm really glad I did because they were very crunchy not overcooked and it was probably not the healthiest meal, but it tasted delicious. read more

The burger felt like a standard cheese burger, but the chicks fried is the true stand out for me - the flavors of all components married each other well, and the fries were cooked to perfection. We've heard multiple reports that Cosmos has the best burger in San Diego and had to check it out for ourselves. There are two locations but we wanted to visit the Oceanside location since I was wary of the quality of the Carlsbad food court location. We arrived late in the afternoon on a Saturday and managed to snag street parking right in front of the restaurant. They don't have a dedicated lot so you might have to circle around the block during peak hours. The restaurant itself is kind of small with a handful of tables and counter seats. I like that the windows all have high-top tables and you could people watch while eating. We ordered a lot for two people to try as much as we could. The food came out really fast but I wonder if that's the norm or if it was just because we were the only customers. Everything is brought out to your table and on pretty aesthetic-looking plates so the vibes felt a little classier than a fast food restaurant. Tater Tots and Truffle Fries: Both come with a decent amount and are great shareable sides. These came out crispy and the truffle smelled so good. On the menu, they only advertise truffle for the fries but I saw another group get truffle tots and I would've ordered that if I had known. Truffle Honey Chicken Tenders: Comes with 3 pieces and wow! These were some of the crispiest tenders I've had, even though they were covered in the sticky, honey sauce. And even though it was white meat, there was not a single tender that was dry. Highly recommend! Cosmos Burger: Toasted buns, double smashed patties with crispy edges...everything you'd expect from a high-quality smashburger. I thought their cosmos sauce was a little salty and it kind of made a mess but overall, it was a good burger. Although not my favorite smashburger in SD, it's definitely in my top 3. I had spotted it on Yelp and suggested we check it out. From the moment we walked in, we had a great experience. The staff was super helpful and patient with our questions. My brother ordered the Basic Burger, his girlfriend got the Cosmos Burger, my husband chose the OG Hot Dog, and I went with the Spicy Jam Burger. My husband and I shared, and we both agreed--this was hands down the best burger we've ever had. He said it might be the best of his life! The fries were fantastic, especially the Monkey Fries, and we paired everything with a couple of beers. The space is cozy, and we snagged a spot at the bar, which added to the relaxed vibe of the evening. All in all, Cosmos's Burger is definitely worth the visit. We stopped here last night because I wanted to try their vegetarian cauliflower burger. The woman taking our order was super kind and explained the menu clearly to me and patrons who ordered after me. There is a small seating area next to the cash register where you can watch their two TVs. I asked if it would be possible to put the NFL playoff game on one of the TVs and she made it happen. 10/10 customer service. The food was pretty yummy too. I probably would not get the fried cauliflower burger again because it was very large and I could primarily just taste grease, but the tots, fries and chicken sandwich were good. For what I spent, the food was definitely worth it. I don't normally clear my plate - that burger and truffle fries disappeared. Even my 5-year-old nephew, who's extremely picky, ate his entire burger. The service was tremendous, and I'd gladly go back again. Ok so me and a friend went to this spot because the reviews were all saying for the most part that Cosmos and their burgers are flavorful. And sadly that wasn't the case when we went. I got a truffle burger and the burger was cooked well, but I couldn't taste any seasoning, the only flavor I got from the burger was from the grilled onions and pickles. The truffle sauce had very little flavor as well but really the burger wasn't bad so if you want a burger with minimal seasoning then this could be the spot for you. Now for the chicken tenders, they weren't cooked the best. The tenders also didn't have seasoning, and were a bit dry too as well. I got the garlic Parmesan tenders and the sauce they put over the chicken was bland. So overall it's not a bad restaurant, but for their prices I would want at least decent seasoning on my food but if you're a person who doesn't care for seasoning this is the spot for you read more

After visiting a nearby competing burger joint, we hopped on over to Cosmos Burger to see which we liked more. Since this place wasn't as busy, we didn't have the most positive outlook, but were definitely proven wrong after eating! - PARKING - Street parking only, I'd imagine it can be difficult to find a spot since you're on the main road. We managed to slide into a spot right next to the entrance! - SERVICE/ENVIRONMENT - The inside isn't very large at all, with some bar seating, a few 2-4 person tables, and window bar seating. The walls are decorated with quirky art, and I liked the vibrance of the entire interior. The man that served us welcomed us in and was very friendly. After we ordered, the food didn't take longer than 10 minutes to come out. - FOOD - Cosmos Burger: When this came out, I was pretty shocked at the size of it! You could definitely get full off one burger, but luckily my fiance and I were sharing. It was nice attention to detail as they provided us with two plates and a knife! The edges of the patty were crisp, and the inside meat was juicy. There aren't any veggies, but I think if it did have something to cut the fat, this burger might be close to perfect! Tater Tots: Pretty darn crispy! I have had crispier tots, but these were solid. I'm a tater tot lover, so I always pick these over fries if both are on a menu. Hibiscus Lemonade: I felt like this was a bit too bitter rather than tart for my taste. I heard good things so had to try Cosmos tonight. My bride got the Truffle Burger and I got the Cosmos Burger. We split a Chicks Fries. The draft beer was served up properly in a cold glass. Our server, Elan was very good. Enthusiastic, fun, and knew the menu very well. Our burgers were truly fantastic. Two medium size smashed patties with a nice rough crunchy edge but super juicy. I had a bite of the Truffle Burger and loved that as much as mine. The Chicks Fries come with a chopped up chicken tender and the bits of chicken were done perfectly. Tender and not a bit dry with a little crunchy breading. Plenty of cheese and caramelized onion not just dumped on top but properly portioned throughout the order. My bride was a little disappointed there wasn't a Pinot Noir choice but she was fine with a Diet Coke. There are a lot of great burger choices in North County, but this should be very high on anyone's list.
