Really good chicken. Love the place and I find the vibe to be really good as well. Highly recommend to anyone in Carlsbad.

Red Hot Chicken meets Red Hot Deals! The Red Chickz specializes in Nashville Hot Chicken and is located in the mall in Carlsbad. Their weekday lunch special is soooo value. For $10 you can get either tenders or a chicken sandwich as well as a side. We love a good deal! Onto the actual food! I got three Chicken Tenders in their Glow (Mild) spice level. You get to pick from either potato wedges or coleslaw as your side (I went with coleslaw) and it also comes with pickles, a slice of toast, and comeback sauce. Everything hitttt. The chicken tenders are actually ginormous. Absolutely huge, juicy, and covered in a crunchy breading. I will say that the mild was the perfect spice level for me- I think they skew a bit spicy. read more

Warning!! The jump from Medium heat to Hot is huge and exponentially hotter after that. Service was amazing. Everyone was super friendly and attentive. I had the original sandwich (Hot - Bonfire). It was super spicy, extra crunchy and delicious. My only gripe, and it's just a personal preference, I didn't like that the spice mix was a powder dry rub. I also ordered a side of the cauliflower bites, which I actually preferred over the sandwich. They were also extra crispy and delicious (same gripe about the rub). The location was really nice. Plenty of seating both inside and out. read more

We were in town and wanted a cheap meal, so we came for their $2 tenders. I would say it's pretty worth it for that, but outside of that I probably wouldn't come back. Chicken was very crunchy but the batter is not exactly my preference. We also got their potato wedges and it was more potato than crisp, which is what I would prefer. Service was very nice. The restaurant looks modern, but cleanliness was lacking. There was someone going around cleaning tables, but they were dirty for a while before the staff member made it around. The bathroom was also pretty dirty, where there was soggy seasoning/batter on the ground and sink. To be fair, it was towards the end of their opening hours, so the staff were going to get around to it anyway. Seems like it's a popular place overall. Parking lot was full, but parking space was ample. read more

It's true, the chicken is real crispy here! After drooling over all the reviews of this place online, I decided to check this place out for lunch. I love hot chicken, and dine at Main Chick Hot Chicken and Dave's Hot Chicken more often than I'd care to admit, so I was excited to see how The Red Chickz would stack up to my favorite joints. I ordered their 2 pc Homestyle Chicken Tenders and chose the Bonfire spice level with Potato Wedges as my side. The order came with a slice of bread as well. The crispiness of the tenders was a standout, for sure. The tenders were very well coated in their glorious batter and had so many crispy bits to it! I was also shocked at how crispy the potato wedges were upon first bite. They were delightful! However, I was disappointed to find out when ordering that even though the meal included 2 tenders, you only get a tiny side of sauce with your meal, which is incredibly skimpy. At the other hot chicken places, you can expect to get a side of sauce per tender given the large size of each tender, not to mention the fries that come with the meal. Ketchup was not provided either. I ended up paying for an extra side of their Comeback Sauce. Personally, I wasn't a big fan of the seasoning on the chicken tenders. I thought it lacked something, and didn't really pack a punch the way that I expected, but it could be a personal preference. Service was friendly, and the cashier didn't hesitate to answer any of our questions. The restaurant itself had ample seating with high ceilings. Parking was easy as this location is outside of a mall. Overall, I think it's worth a try, and I wouldn't hesitate to come back if I lived closer. read more

Amazingly crunchy and effortlessly delicious! For my first time at The Red Chickz it was definitely worth coming out and trying this style of nashville hot chicken! I loved how there were more options available to pair with the chicken including french toast, waffles, and potato bread. SHOUTOUT to cashier ELYSE O. who was very attentive and helped explain the menu to us. I asked her what her favorite items on the menu were, one of which included the Honey Butter Sandwich. It was such a great recommendation; the perfect combination of sweet from the honey butter, and savory from the chicken tender and pepperjack cheese. Other items purchased are as follows: - Original Sandwiches: Light, crunchy, flavorful; we appreciate the non-heavy feel that the tenders tasted - 3 Tenders w/ Mac n Cheese: Phenomenal, with the mac n cheese being alright - Potato Wedges: Seasoned perfectly and paired well with the sauce. AND you can actually taste the potatoes, meaning that it did not taste chalky like other nashville places level "BONFIRE" was AWESOME for enjoyers of Bulbak level spice! At dinner rush time, the restaurant was not too busy and we were attended to right away. THANK YOU RED CHICKZ! read more

Thursdays at The Red Chickz is too good to pass up! $2 per Chicken Strip is amazing! They are not just any chicken strip, they are quite big and packed with flavor. The seasoning on them is so tasty. I seriously enjoyed them. I also got Texas Toast and Donut Holes. They were awesome too! They were busy when I went which is always a good sign. Means they are popular for good food. They have indoor and outdoor seating. The restaurant itself was super clean. I love all the quotes and sayings on the walls. The staff were awesome! Everyone I encountered was really nice. I gotta go back and try some other items since I seriously enjoyed the strips! read more

I got the shrimp Baja taco with medium spice. It was good but a little dry and spice was more like a 1.5-2 than medium. My partner got the original chicken sandwich and wedges with second from highest spice level. He said his spice was on the mark, taste level 8/10 & only complaint was it was a little dry. The beers are $3 all day which is a great deal. All in all I'll give the place a solid 7.5/10. Would I come back? Probably not. But Im not a huge chicken fan. read more

If I had one word to describe the red chicks, it would be variety! I love that there is a variety of things on this menu and there's something for everyone. Unlike other chicken shops here you can get things other than chicken, which I really like I ordered their two piece tender meal with a side of mac & cheese and coleslaw. The mac & cheese was so good and the tenders were pretty good as well. I enjoyed how crunchy they were, but I wish it was a little bit more juicy. I got the Spark heat level and that was the perfect spice. I really wanted to try their corn riblets, but they were sold out by the time I got there around 7 PM. This is a great place to have a casual dinner and there's lots of seating, parking, and bathrooms. Will definitely be coming back soon! read more

Not going to lie, I definitely died a bit when I tried this place. Turns out, I've never had dry rub spicy heat before and it is definitely not the same as wet sauce spice. Learned that the hard way. Once the initial shock faded, I did still enjoy our meal. Overall, my guy and I both thought the chicken was just a bit above average, despite having a higher cost. HOWEVER, they only provide 1 small thing of sauce! That is soo rude and upsetting! Just have large tubs of sauce available for people if the individual packets are too expensive. Also, for what we paid, they could've at least given a decent slice of bread instead of a sad slice of wonder bread. Chicken is 3.5, but rounding down because of the lack of sauce included. read more

The best, crunchiest, and juiciest chicken tenders I've ever had! They're always so fresh and piping hot when served, no matter what day or time it is. We've gone here several times and the quality of their food never wavers. Everything we've had here has always been so delicious--from the chicken tenders, to the sides and milkshakes... it's all *chef's kiss*! I will always, always come back to Red Chickz. Yes!!!! And damn, the chicken, shrimp, and cauliflower at The Red Chickz really are as crunchy as they claim. I've been a hot chicken fan ever since my production team and I worked the CMAs over a decade ago, so I know good hot chicken when I taste it. The seasoning here is savory, addictive, and absolutely delicious. Now, full disclosure: I love hot chicken... but hot chicken does not love me. So I always order their Cool (no heat) version, and every single time it is fantastic. Their tenders are beautifully crunchy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and generously sized. They're so substantial that you can easily make a full sandwich out of them , especially if you add their delicious Texas toast. And let's talk about the shrimp: these are not little shrimp. They are basically the size of prawns, and honestly, some of the best fried shrimp I've had in North County. I'd even say they're better than what I've had at some seafood spots nearby. But my absolute favorite thing on the menu? The cauliflower. As a kid, I never liked cauliflower, but The Red Chickz completely changed my mind. Their cauliflower is outrageously good , crunchy, flavorful, and seriously craveable. Lately, I've been perfectly happy ordering just the cauliflower, Texas toast, and fries because it's that good. A few more standouts: Fries: thick, hearty, steak fry-style, and excellent Mac & cheese: one of the best I've had anywhere Salads: fresh, crisp, and generously portioned Fried cheese curds: squeaky, creamy, and delicious Honestly, I could easily make a full meal out of just the sides and salads. Big thumbs up to The Red Chickz, crunchy, flavorful, and consistently satisfying. I'm looking forward to a very crunchy relationship with this place. Cheers! read more

This place lives to the hype I will say!! After walking around the mall I wanted a quick bite to each for lunch. This place is pretty big with a lot of seating both inside and outside. This reminds me a lot of Dave's Hot Chicken but I think this is 10x better. I got the original chicken sandwich, added some pepper jack cheese (reccomended by the staff and I will say amazing) with a side of wedge fries. Service was great, the staff were super friendly. The portions are big! I wasn't aware but M-F from 11-2pm they do lunch specials for 9.99! Loooove! Next time I'm in Carlsbad I'll come back !! Check it out if you're in the area! read more

Another place off my list. I had a honey butter sandwich and potato wedges. Returning to my seat, I opened the bun to revel a yellow glop of what I assume was honey butter. I wish the main menu board screen was working. I'm told it's down right now, so I had to go to the counter to look over the menu options. I also wish more employees were working the register. I ordered Tenders and a side and was pleasantly surprised by the portion size. The tenders were large and crispy but a bit dry. The sauce was a necessity for these breasts. Personally, spice levels Glow (mild) and Spark (medium) were very similar; that's no surprise because they both use cayenne pepper. Although I have a relatively low spice tolerance, I would try a spicier level next time. The Potato Wedges were some of the best I've ever had, perfectly crispy! Where the restaurant really shines, however, is their customer service. Shout out to Sarah H, who was very patient and answered my newbie questions. The employees seem very friendly. Listen, paisans -- saw a TikTok about Red Chickz and I got nostalgic enough to make the hundred‑mile pilgrimage from San Diego. I was picturing big, glorious chicken tenders. What arrived: two regular tenders with fries and Texas toast, plus two spicy tenders. Mac & cheese on the side? Missing. Parking? Ridonkulous -- maybe holiday chaos, maybe bad planning. Taste wise, this one lands in the low‑average camp. The meat was dry and the crunch I was hankerin' for was AWOL. My lady asked for a mild heat on her country‑style; she got the full inferno instead -- maybe a mistake, maybe crossed wires, but not what she asked for. And here's the kicker: we asked for one sauce and were billed for four. That ain't right. Overcharging for extras leaves a bad aftertaste you can't fry away. Respectful scorecard: decent effort, sloppy execution. Not enough to make me drive that far again. Capisce? -- Captain 619 read more

Really wanted to like this place. The girl working the counter was busy with an order but still greeted us. She did ask if we had any questions. We thought we had it. Ordered the honey butter chicken sandwich x2. Both mild. One was with fries the other with coleslaw. And asked for honey mustard sauce. Didn't realize had to pay extra for that. The coleslaw was very bland. The sandwich was ok. One chicken strip for a sandwich was ridiculous. The sauce the sandwiches came with reminded me of thousand island dressing. The honey mustard sauce was different. I will say, the chicken strips weren't greasy like another chicken place we tried. They were crispy with little flavor. I totally disagree with having to pay for a side of sauce. Now if I was asking for extra, that I would understand. Will we be back? No. read more

I've been wanting to come here for long time - especially after every foodie IG influencer posted videos of this place. Let me tell you, it is legit. $3 beers daily. $10 lunch specials daily. $2 tenders on Thursday. What a deal. Free drink with Yelp check in. The spice levels are for real. and they are seriously generous on the portion size... 2 tenders might be enough for most people. I'm guessing but there is a secret to breading fried chicken with corn flakes and I think that's how they do it. It is very crunchy on the outside with juicy chicken inside. It's really good. What gets me is the spice. It's not your wimpy spice levels that you might find at those big corporate chains, this will put sweat on your brow, which is how I like it (bonfire and blaze were HOT and you can level up from there)... But if you aren't into getting your face melted off, there are more mild levels... I'm definitely a fan and will return... read more

Came in on a Thursday for the $2 tender deal and it was great! I got the glow spice level 3 piece and a strawberry shake (for free for checking in on yelp!!) and shared a large fry with my husband. My husband got the cool spice level. I loved mine with the buffalo sauce. I only ate about 1.5 and took some home, was a great left over for the next day. My husband can't handle spice and although it was only paprika on his he liked it but think he will try the country level next time. The tendies were flavorful, crunchy and very tender on the inside. Piping hot temp wise. So much better than Canes. Fries were pretty good, a bit too soft for my liking. Only bummer is you have to pay for additional sauce, but I get it otherwise people would probably waste it...it's good and pretty cheap so it's worth it. Ranch was pretty good. Strawberry shake was delicious! There was a bit of a wait but I was with good company and there was good people watching lol. Bathroom was pretty clean for how busy they were and how many young people they had working haha. I would definitely come back! :) read more

Tried this Nashville style chicken place, and was pleased. The breading was nice and crispy, and was not dried out. I ordered the original sandwich, with the Bonfire heat, and it did not disappoint, it was spicy, and delicious. The employees were friendly, and fast to take orders, and wait times for quick. The place looked nice and clean and welcoming, my only complaint is that there are lots of windows and sitting next to the windows it does get very warm. Will definitely try again. read more

Came here on Thursday and was surprised to see many people for a rainy, foggy day. The place is nice and bright meaning well lit and the white walls with the red makes the place stand out. It wasn't overly loud for that many people inside. The guy working the cashier was very friendly. My fiancé orderd the 3 piece strips with potato wedges and got it the 3rd spice level from the bottom since the cashier said the spice is real. I ordered a 2 piece meal with potato wedges in mild. I really wanted to come here because I heard about a $2 Happy Hour for the strips but did not see it right away. I barely ate my food but it was good. Also, the chicken strips are flipping huge! Apparently, the spice truly is real and my fiancé almost ate all of his chicken strips but one! It was a bit messy so if you are not into that, use a fork. I got the dragon fruit drink that they had and mixed it with soda water and it was so good! I would come back on a Thursday to get a chicken strip due to the portion but this would be a good thing to grab for meal prepping and add to a salad or make into a wrap. read more

I really enjoyed this spot Service was good, and food was fresh. They told me from cool to glow it was a big jump in spice. The inferno was HOT! But yummy. I enjoyed that it was crunchy but there was not a lot of breading. The strawberry dragon fruit drink is really delicious, and the smoky honey mustard sauce is worth the .75 cents. I would of gotten 2 if I knew how much I was going to enjoy it. The tenders are $4 each, $2 on Thursdays. When you order 2 tenders they have to be the same level of spice, and if you want to try a different spice flavor you need to get a third tender, which is strange but it was fine. The chicken was crunchy, tender, and I wouldn't say they were dry at all. The piece of toast that comes with it is a bit useless, but the pickles were really good I wish the order came with more. The potato wedges are crunchy on the outside and fluffy on the inside which I enjoy, but I would get the delicious cheese curds over the wedges if I go back again. The cheese curds were really good and you can get a spice level on those too. Ambiance was cool, they have some funny brain rot videos of the tv's. Biggest complaint is it was on the dirty side, and the bathroom was really dirty. I told the employee and she thanked me for telling her I'd come back again, but on a Thursday to get the $2 tender deal. read more
