The texcoco soup is darn good. This time I paired it with a beef crispy taco and both came out great.

I am obsessed with chile rellenos - I like to make little chile relleno tacos - bitesize pieces of heaven - a slice of chile relleno, rice, beans, salsa!!! I know their specialty is the chicken soup, I just wanted my chile relleno. And no regrets - it hit the spot! The rice and beans were standard, corn tortilla thick w a little chew (yum) and the chile relleno - solid. The taste was better than the look. Happy.

Yummmo! Everything was delicious. We were starving after a soccer tournament and this was close by. The people were very friendly and the vibe was nice. We definitely saved this place for next time we are in town.

I was in and out to grab the delicious chicken soup with tortilla. $8.99 for a small but it's worth it! Customer service was great and friendly.

4 CHICKEN ROLLED TACOS with guacamole, sour cream, cheese, shredded lettuce, and tomatoes

was in South O (picking up my kid's repaired Tacoma at Beaudry's) and was a bit peckish. stopped at JORGE's MEXICATESSEN for a quick bite -- chicken rolled tacos with cheese and guacamole. went back a week later for smothered and covered with guacamole, sour cream, cheese, shredded lettuce, and tomatoes. both were excellent. the "deluxe" version was really filling. my early lunch was massive enough was still full at dinner. place is tidy. woman at the register was engaging. enjoyed the experience enough ate at the Encinitas location a few days later with the family. extensive menu. really solid fast Mex.

8/1/24 Thursday 3:00 pm We stumbled upon this place on Yelp and decided to give it a try. We were greeted promptly and waited on in a timely manner. Food was just ok. The carne asada burrito we ordered had a lot of excess tortilla. In fact the first 2 bites was nothing but tortillas. The meat was tough, and the sour cream and cheese were cold. When we get this type of food to go, we can always microwave it but gosh.... Sitting down to eat in a restaurant, the food should be hot. We asked the gal for warm chips and she said she could dip ours back in oil. LOL! No!!! Wrong answer. We paid for the chips so we expect something fresh, not chips that have been sitting under your warmer for hours. We used about 10 of our baby wipes trying to get the sticky stuff off our table. Air conditioner was inoperable and very humid in the dining room. We spotted a split AC but it was not running. Overall, we have had better and more than likely, will NOT be returning.

Ok so Mexican food is very subjective. Everyone likes different styles and flavoring. Past decade spent in Encnitas with some great options. Moved to Carlsbad and was trying to find a Cali B that matched my profile. Couldn't find one that hit. I'm not a fan of a lot of pico in mine and most places do this around here Carne is tasty. Has tasty potatoes instead of fries. Sour cream ads good flavor. Nice melted cheese. Enjoyed this one. 5 of 5. Only one salsa though. It's a salsa style red.

It's a true family-style operation--one owner personally takes your order while the other is in the kitchen cooking everything fresh, and you can taste that attention to detail in every bite. The food is outstanding--full of flavor, generous portions, and very reasonably priced. It's the kind of place where you know you're getting authentic, homemade quality, not something rushed or generic. On top of that, the service is incredibly friendly and welcoming, and the restaurant itself is clean and well-kept. It's rare to find a spot that checks all the boxes like this. Since then we've been visiting other burrito places, but decided to give them another shot. We were pleasantly surprised to see things were "back to normal". Burritos were big again and the salsa bar was back. Chips were no longer free (I remember they used to be a long time ago), but no biggie. We were just picked up to-go. The burritos were good. Not great, necessarily, but good and the prices are some of the best around. They have a ton of options, and lots of drinks, including beer. We were just picking up, and it was a very hot day. The restaurant didn't have any air-conditioning so it was quite warm inside. Most people were eating outside. We'll be back again to try some other menu items given that their prices are generally pretty good.

Came in for an early dinner and to try this place out. Have heard many things via social media…read more For starters, we got complimentary chips & salsa. The salsa was good IMO, though the rest of the table thought it was too spicy. For drinks we chose a Mexican Candy ($15) and Hibiscus Margarita ($14). They were okay. I think not really worth the price (barely any buzz). I'll probably stick with a beer next time but that's okay. For food, we ordered the Chile Relleno & Cheese Enchilada ($20), Queso Birria Taco Plate ($18) and for me, the Fajita Mixta ($26). Everyone liked their food. For me, I've had better fajitas elsewhere (Mariscos Hualtulco is my fav) but these were still good (except no green bell pepper for some reason). I noticed the *new* menu price for the fajitas was $29 (Mixta), but on the bill it was still $26 (old menu price). So be aware, the new price is coming obviously. I want to try the Molcajete but $38 is a stretch! Atmosphere was okay. It was a Saturday and although it was early, I expected a more vibrant feel, but maybe that comes later in the night. There was plenty of seating. Parking was okay, but the lot was oddly packed however even though the restaurant was not. I would come back to try something else on the menu, but with so many great Mexican options in our area, they need that extra something to attract more patrons. A happy hour with $10 margs for starters would be nice.

This is by far one of my favorite places for Mexican food in SoCal. As a Cali Native now living in…read morethe great state of Texas, sometimes it's refreshing to step outside the land of Tex‑Mex and get the real deal again. Colima's hits that spot every single time. When you walk in, the person behind the counter greets you immediately -- and not the dry "hi, what can I get you?" type of greeting. You get a full "¡Buenos días, mija!" with that warm, almost‑grito energy that makes you feel like you just walked into your tío's spot instead of a restaurant. Super friendly, super natural, and very SoCal. I ordered the rolled tacos plate and wow... esa porción estaba gigante. I couldn't finish it. What I loved most was the meat; this is what meat is supposed to taste like. The beef was seasoned the way we grew up eating it: a little salty, a little savory, with that slow‑cooked tenderness that lets you know it didn't come from some pre‑bagged, mystery‑meat situation. You get hints of garlic, a little cumin, and that warm, almost toasty flavor that comes from meat that's actually been browned, not steamed. It tasted like someone's abuela was in the back saying, "No, no, déjalo dorar un poquito más. And the corn tortillas? Perfect. Thin enough to get that crisp roll, thick enough not to shatter. None of that flour‑tortilla‑trying‑to‑be‑crispy nonsense. These were crunchy, flavorful, and loaded. The toppings were just as good. The guacamole tasted fresh. You could taste the real avocado which was creamy, a little chunky, with lime that actually tasted like lime and not concentrate. The red salsa had a legit kick to it. It had hints of roasted chiles, was smoky and had a slightly bitter edge that tells you they actually roasted them instead of just tossing raw peppers into a blender. It wasn't tourist spicy; it was SoCal Mexican‑restaurant spicy, which is a whole different category. My partner ordered a breakfast burrito and honestly? That thing could've fed three people. It was massive, stuffed to the brim with cheese, egg, potatoes, and fresh bacon and exactly what a SoCal breakfast burrito should be: simple, hearty, and no shortcuts. Between the portions, the flavor, and the service that feels like home, this spot stays on my list every time I'm in Oceanside. If you're craving real Mexican food and not Tex‑Mex, pull up. You'll leave full and happy. #supportlocal
