Flounder pounder, OG, surf and turf

Tacos were super goood! Fish tacos were by far the best. They have traditionally beer battered, carne asada (slightly sweet but really good flavor), surf and turf (shrimp and carne). Service was standard in wait time and seating. Pretty cool interior with ordering at the "bus", bar counter, and both indoor and outdoor seating.

The interior design is insane. Their artist really sets the atmosphere of the restaurant. There are details all around the shop that is fun to look for. The shop seems to be integrated well into the community of Oceanside. It's not your cheapest Mexican food option but they have great food options. I recommend there tri tip burrito and their fish/shrimp tacos. Their sauces were also great.

Stopped by for the first time on Cinco de Mayo I've always wanted to try this spot. Overall, it was a half-and-half experience for me, but my wife absolutely loved it. When we walked in, my 7-year-old asked, "Why is it so dirty here?" I explained it was mostly the decorations. Very festive but a little chaotic. You can definitely feel the energy, and judging by the reviews, people love this place. For the first time ever, I actually liked the chicken more than the carne asada. The carne asada didn't really hit the mark for me almost like something was off, or maybe they mixed up my order. At $5 a taco, I expected a little more flavor. The chips were great, definitely a highlight with pork and beans. That said, the place didn't feel like a truly authentic taqueria to me. It has a certain style that seems geared more toward tourists and the general local population, if you know what I mean. Felt cooperate. My 11-year-old, who's pretty picky these days, had a breakfast burrito and funny enough, his burrito was actually better than my carne asada tacos. Drinks were on point enjoyed a strong, tasty $10 margarita. The bar and food areas are separated, which felt odd at first, but it works once you get used to it. Service - bartender was super nice everyone else was always a bit feeling the 5 O Clock rush at one point there is no register clerk because she was clearing tables. All in all, a good experience. Definitely a fun place to take friends for casual drinks and food, but probably not going to be my personal go-to taco spot. Still glad I finally gave it a shot!

Right off the bat, immediately noticeable friendly service. First time visitor and the solo employee confirmed the surf and turf tacos were his favorite. Ordered two to go. Wasn't even waiting 5 minutes before they were ready! Walked to my spot on the beach about 0.5 miles away before trying. Tacos are slightly larger than street sized and just by picking them up, I noticed they do not skimp out on the meat portions. Sauces are slightly spicy but flavorful! Steak is smokier, kind of beef jerky like. But I enjoyed it! Looking forward to returning to try other recommendations from this place

Solid taco! Had the surf and turf! Yum! Great friendly service and cute little bus where you place your order. Drinks available at the bar but we just had a Mexican coke! Outdoor Patio to enjoy your meal! With a visit!

Food was good! Order from the indoor taco truck and then grab a seat, food will be delivered to your table. Super conveniently located in Oceanside CA / two block walk from our hotel. The tacos, burrito, and margarita was solid enjoyed our food! Everything that we ordered was great. Service could be better though. We were told we would get something delivered to our table and it never came so we had to go back up to the counter and ask for it. But overall good food so we would come back.

Everyone kept saying this place has the best Mexican food in town, but it wasn't that good. And that's coming from a Mexican. $25 for a wet burrito and a coke is wild. The burrito itself was lacking seasoning on the meat so it tasted bland and the salsa roja was more on the sweeter side. Some spice would've helped out the sauce. Services was fine. There was some homeless people coming in and out of the place.

Surf and Turf Tacos were delish, the OG had waaaaaaaay to much sauce and was almost not edible, the battered fish taco was great too. Would come back again when visiting Oceanside

Belly up to the bus to place your order.

All the tacos were delicious! The chips are thick to get lots of the yummy salsa scooped up. Fun atmosphere, all the colors and portraits on the ceiling are fun. Quick service. Servers very nice and helpful. Go! You won't be disappointed.

Just an update to my prior review. We stopped in here yesterday (Sunday) mostly because Johnny Mañana's was packed full and couldn't find a table. I have not been to Sancho's in quite a while and we just wanted a fish taco and a beer. Upon finding a seat, I grabbed a menu and noticed right off the bat, there are no prices on the menu. At Sancho's, you have to order from the register inside the VW bus. I ordered two fried fish tacos, and two beers. The total came to $34. At Johnny Mañana's, a fried fish tacos is $3.50, so here it's double. Granted, the fish taco was very good. Large but most of that is cabbage and tomato. $16 for two tacos is a bit high. The beers were roughly $8 each. For Mother's Day, it was pretty empty inside. We were able to find a barstool that overlooked the street and just took in the activity of the day. Beer was good. Taco was good. There is no A/C, so if it's hot & sticky outside, it'll be hot & sticky here. Just a fair warning.

    The OG Tacos

Everything was bursting with flavor. Incredible menu! Jacob got the OG and those were our favorite!! So much flavor & the best seasoned meat. I got the surf & turf. The tri tip and shrimp were so yummy, but the chipotle had a lot of kick to it- great flavor but it over powered the flavor of shrimp and tri tip! I tried it with the Chubby sauce and that was a sweeter sauce which i preferred. The chips were some of the best i'd ever had and the salsa was great!! The man taking our order was so kind! He gave us all his recommendations & was patient with all our questions. He explained the menu well. This is a fun ambiance. There is a bus in the store and picture frames on the ceiling. It makes the entire restaurant an experience.

Came in for an early dinner and to try this place out. Have heard many things via social media…read more For starters, we got complimentary chips & salsa. The salsa was good IMO, though the rest of the table thought it was too spicy. For drinks we chose a Mexican Candy ($15) and Hibiscus Margarita ($14). They were okay. I think not really worth the price (barely any buzz). I'll probably stick with a beer next time but that's okay. For food, we ordered the Chile Relleno & Cheese Enchilada ($20), Queso Birria Taco Plate ($18) and for me, the Fajita Mixta ($26). Everyone liked their food. For me, I've had better fajitas elsewhere (Mariscos Hualtulco is my fav) but these were still good (except no green bell pepper for some reason). I noticed the *new* menu price for the fajitas was $29 (Mixta), but on the bill it was still $26 (old menu price). So be aware, the new price is coming obviously. I want to try the Molcajete but $38 is a stretch! Atmosphere was okay. It was a Saturday and although it was early, I expected a more vibrant feel, but maybe that comes later in the night. There was plenty of seating. Parking was okay, but the lot was oddly packed however even though the restaurant was not. I would come back to try something else on the menu, but with so many great Mexican options in our area, they need that extra something to attract more patrons. A happy hour with $10 margs for starters would be nice.

This place is great!…read more Wife and I came out on a date night to this local spot we've been trying to come to for months. It was on a Friday night, the place was packed, and difficult to find a spot to park. The line to order was almost out the door, but still fast to get through, and we were quick to choose what we wanted before struggling to find a spot to sit and talk. After about 15 minutes, our order was ready and we got to enjoy our food. We started with the Carne Asada Nachos, Refried Beans on the side. The meat was flavorful, very tender, and plentiful atop a pile of crisp and fresh tortilla chips. The cheese was nice and salty and the sour cream was warm to the point where it drizzled over it all nicely. All in all, it was a very tasty start to the night. The only two issues I had with it were that the guac was a bit overly pureed, making it kind of runny. And the refried beans had a very sour flavor, making me think that they were over the edge of going spoiled. I had to thank my wife's aversion to eating beans, helping us avoid having them spooned on top, which would have ruined this course. I also had an Al Pastor Taco, Craft Coast Style. The whole it was crisped up well, the cheese forming a great crust on the inside of the taco. The meat was sweetly marinaded, flavorful and delicious. On top of it was a good amount of beans, onions, cilantro, and guacamole, making for a good sized taco without any overflowing. It was pretty damn tasty. So, our first trip out here had more highs than lows, resulting in a very positive initial dinner. I'm sure those beans were just a one-off, at least I hope they were. And there's still hope that the guac may have had too much lime or had been overly mixed this time around. A second trip is definitely in the cards, with more of the family to expand what comes to the table.
