    Carne Asada Burrito
    Diane T.

Been to Oceanside so many times but never been to Johnny Mananas until tonight. Got the crispy fish tacos and was not as impressed. Was a little disappointed that the fish wasn't as crispy and flakey as I hoped. Also, the corn tortilla was overcooked and rubbery. I've definitely had better crispy fish tacos. The carne asada burrito was pretty good though. It had a decent amount of meat and had okay flavor. Not the best I've ever had, but not the worst. Would probably give this place another try, maybe not anytime soon though, since there's plenty of other Mexican places in Oceanside we haven't tried yet.

Cheap and tasty fish tacos. Actual fish inside the taco wasn't the biggest hence the price but the flavor and the salsa bar they have is lovely. Service was quick. Inside where you order is a little small but they have a very lovely outdoor area where you can be seated and enjoy your meal!

Great place close to the pier for amazing burritos and fish tacos. The tacos are large--plan accordingly. The burritos are generously stuffed. I love the surf and turf; the steak is super juicy and the shrimp tastes so fresh. They have a salsa bar with a good selection of tasty salsas. I recommend the verde. The food is great and the service is good, but the pricing and the aggressive shuffle for tables in their patio/bar area hold it back from being a spot I'd always recommend. If you're okay with the price, I would say grab a couple fish tacos to -go and eat along the pier.

If you are looking for a place where strangers become friends then you should try Johnny mananas. The backyard is a very cozy place. The food was delicious. Be sure to try the fish tacos. The service was great.

The fish taco was so good- large piece of crispy fish, nice sauce and toppings. The nachos was humongous and tasty. Nice ambiance . Saw a lot locals there too. Make sure to order inside.

Very delicious Mexican spot located in Downtown Oceanside! It's open daily 9am-9pm Sun-Thursday and 9am-10pm Fri & Sat Menu had a good variety of tacos, burritos, quesadillas, nachos, etc. Prices were reasonable and most dishes were under $20! Inside was a bit small with limited seating but it was nice they had an outdoor patio with plenty of seating, as well as a bar and lots of TVs! Parking was ok since there is nearby parking structures Staff was friendly and welcoming The World Famous Baja Fish Taco ($3.49) was amazing! It came with a huge piece of super crispy Mahi Mahi! It was so fresh and not too deep fried. Loved that it came with 2 tortillas and loved the chipotle sauce and salsa! It was so flavorful without being too salty or spicy so this was 9/10 Overall, I really enjoyed my experience and would definitely recommend and return!

    The food we ordered.

We got overcharged. We ordered 6 carne asada tacos for $5.99 each, 1 carne asada quesadilla for $16.99, 1 plain fries $4.99, 1 soda $3.99, 1 milk $3.99, $2 tip and our bill came to $77.32. Even if you include taxes, it shouldn't come to that total price. We didn't notice until we went home and we are an hour drive away from Oceanside. It is our first time eating there and we are so disappointed they ripped us off.

We came here on a friday afternoon during happy hour. The inside is for food only the outside patio is where you order drinks. The ladys who cook are super kind. I had the michelada and my friend had the bloody mary. The vibes were chill & laidback.

Interesting set up. Order inside. Then seat yourself inside, small area, or outside after you walk through and outside. Pleasant enough and a bar outside. We order the world famous margarita, strawberry. It's house everything. I assume the strawberries are not from the local farm. Meh. Her next drink was the sangria. Again meh, but $2 cheaper. She order the Cali burrito. Too much avocado but no queso. A bit disappointing. I order the Sammy Cali Pollo. Mine was good. There's about 10 chips with your meal. There's a salsa bar of sorts. Surprisingly I like their verde over their red. And a side of rice. $42 for food only. Two beers. And her two drinks $33.

The prices and the food are the best in the area. The food was so good! I'm definitely coming back. They have a terrific HH also. The service can be challenging since you have to order from a cashier and then wait for your food. Hopefully you find seating in the bar area. The area surrounding is nice and we met a friendly couple and a couple of military personnel. I really had a great time just kicking it with my hubby and random people. Drinks were pretty darn good!

Fun vibe in the bar area! Just the friendliest ever bartender heightened our experience. Fish tacos were good, not great and the carne asada tacos were pretty good. Basic salsa bar inside the small indoor eating area. Really liked the hard kombucha offerings and appreciated the ice cold glass. Very reasonable prices and an excellent alternative to eating on a curb at the street fair. Recommend ~EG eats

    Carnitas and Shrimp Tacos

Found this eatery while strolling down Main Street in Oceanside, looking for a quick lunch place. The restaurant is as casual as it can be, with an ordering counter in the front room, a patio with seating area in the back, and an outdoor bar on the side that can accommodate 20+ people. We ordered Surf & Turf burrito, plus grilled fish and carnitas tacos. The food arrived in about 15 minutes. The burrito was huge, probably big enough for 2 people. Inside was packed with a heavenly mix of nicely grilled tender steak, succulent shrimps, guacamoles and devilish sauce. The carnitas tacos were tender and nicely complemented with guacamole and sauce. The grilled shrimps were fresh and had a very good texture, and mixed well with veggies and sauce. A great dining option for uber casual lunch or dinner.

Has this placed changed owners? I noticed the patio has been remodeled and menu changed slightly and there was no live music or any music being played on Saturday. Missed the music!!!

They have the best molcajete and fajitas around, at the best prices. We are here just to see if Cocina Del Mar is better. Long story short: it's not. However, their ceviche is AMAZING. Best ceviche I have had in north county San Diego outside of Dija Mara (which has the best ceviche in the known universe). It is extremely fresh and not overpowered by acidity, fishy smells or rubbery shrimp. The ceviche here is legit. Great. AND ONLY $10 (for cameron). If you order anything here, get the ceviche first. I'm anxious to try their aguachile now. We also ordered the fajitas ("suprema" with chicken, steak and shrimp). Fajitas did not come out sizzling at all. I have never seen this before. Also, there were only two shrimp. The steak/carne was bland and dry. Not great. Wife ordered the Sopes (3) and mother ordered the Enchiladas Cameron. The sopes were okay, but a bit bland. Wife had to salt everything on the plate. The enchiladas had a sauce my mom said was too sweet. She wasn't a fan. For all three dishes to be a miss is completely strange considering the sheer number of 5-star reviews. I want to believe. We must have come on an off-day, but the place was busy. Quite a few larger parties were here, so this place is popular with the natives. We also grabbed a Model and a Corona. Only $5 for the beers! Total for everything came to $117.64 (with tip). I would absolutely come back for the ceviche and to give them another shot by trying a different dish. I snapped pics of the menu so you can see the latest prices. Check it out.

As a Cali Native now living in…read morethe great state of Texas, sometimes it's refreshing to step outside the land of Tex‑Mex and get the real deal again. Colima's hits that spot every single time. When you walk in, the person behind the counter greets you immediately -- and not the dry "hi, what can I get you?" type of greeting. You get a full "¡Buenos días, mija!" with that warm, almost‑grito energy that makes you feel like you just walked into your tío's spot instead of a restaurant. Super friendly, super natural, and very SoCal. I ordered the rolled tacos plate and wow... esa porción estaba gigante. I couldn't finish it. What I loved most was the meat; this is what meat is supposed to taste like. The beef was seasoned the way we grew up eating it: a little salty, a little savory, with that slow‑cooked tenderness that lets you know it didn't come from some pre‑bagged, mystery‑meat situation. You get hints of garlic, a little cumin, and that warm, almost toasty flavor that comes from meat that's actually been browned, not steamed. It tasted like someone's abuela was in the back saying, "No, no, déjalo dorar un poquito más. And the corn tortillas? Perfect. Thin enough to get that crisp roll, thick enough not to shatter. None of that flour‑tortilla‑trying‑to‑be‑crispy nonsense. These were crunchy, flavorful, and loaded. The toppings were just as good. The guacamole tasted fresh. You could taste the real avocado which was creamy, a little chunky, with lime that actually tasted like lime and not concentrate. The red salsa had a legit kick to it. It had hints of roasted chiles, was smoky and had a slightly bitter edge that tells you they actually roasted them instead of just tossing raw peppers into a blender. It wasn't tourist spicy; it was SoCal Mexican‑restaurant spicy, which is a whole different category. My partner ordered a breakfast burrito and honestly? That thing could've fed three people. It was massive, stuffed to the brim with cheese, egg, potatoes, and fresh bacon and exactly what a SoCal breakfast burrito should be: simple, hearty, and no shortcuts. Between the portions, the flavor, and the service that feels like home, this spot stays on my list every time I'm in Oceanside. If you're craving real Mexican food and not Tex‑Mex, pull up. You'll leave full and happy. #supportlocal
