TLDR: Best fried chicken in SD. Make sure to ask for their spicy fried chicken! It's a Lemon pepper, red chili flakes, cayenne, and a hint of sugar! This is my favorite fried chicken in SD and in my current top 5! Their breading is so light and airy yet crispy and crunchy. Their breading has to use some sort of flour blend with all purpose flour and a lighter starch to make it airy. Now their chicken is well salted! Properly brined so that the chicken taste chickeny with the breading being an additional flavor boost! Their dry rub spicy seasoning is to die for. It's some sort of a mix between lemon pepper. You can see some red chili flakes in there. There's probably some cayenne because there's some heat and there's a slight bit of sugar that makes the citrus from the lemon pepper pop even more. I've never had anything like this seasoning blend and it's truly the best. In my first month of living in Santee, I had this place three times. read more

I got one krabby cakes for myself and a fish cod plate with rice and mash potatoes. The crab cake was like eating an extra crispy hash brown. It was skin overload on the cod so I just ate the fish. This is my favorite place to get take out fried chicken. For me, not the closest location but it's an easy drive and they have plenty of parking. There is usually a steady flow of customers but the service is fast. I am in and out in no time. I do suggest calling ahead of time for a faster dining experience. It's no frills dining but the food is very good especially the fried variety. The chicken, the catfish and the shrimp are fantastic. The friend okra is also delicious. The dinner plates are big and come with two sides. The sides are decent. Nothing to write home about but good. I usually go double rice. I've been to this chicken shop 2 times now. Both times I've gotten the 10 piece dark meat family dinner. Both times the orders were cooked to order! The chicken is absolutely amazing and blows your typical kfc or Popeyes chicken straight out the water. And for the 10 piece meal I spend $32 which is huge savings compared to other chicken places. The fried chicken is on another level: crispy, juicy, and packed with flavor. The fried okra, french fries, mac and cheese, and rice are all fantastic. My go-to order switches between fried rice, catfish with fries, or chicken with rice. Every meal is comforting, satisfying, and full of flavor. I personally cannot eat it every day (I would if I could), my cholesterol might complain, but when you want to treat yourself, this is the place. The fried shrimp is excellent and the Krabby Cake never even makes it home because I eat it in the car. Everything on the menu is solid. You just cannot go wrong. It is located in the same parking lot as GTM, which is always packed with people hunting for deals. That store is full of bargains, so it makes the whole trip feel like a win. On the other side of the chicken shop, there is a bakery (I do not even know the name) but it has the best cakes, cookies, cupcakes, and parfaits. Seriously, the desserts are top notch. We ordered Dark meat (hell yeah) fried chicken meal and it comes with two large sides (we chose onion rings and mashed potatoes). A small order of coleslaw, some biscuits, small order of fried okra. If you want some hot sauce on the side, let them know! Upon opening, everything looked amazing! The fried chicken was really crispy and not heavily battered or anything like that. I wished that the chicken was a bit more flavorful instead of having to rely on ketchup and hot sauce. It didn't have enough salt to it. The okra piqued my interest because I haven't had fried okra before. Definitely different. Not sure if I would get it again. Lightly crispy on the outside and the usual mild grassy flavor with the stretchy sticky stuff. Biscuit was fluffy and not dry. I totally lathered that with butter and honey because that's how you do it! Onion rings were the right amount of crispy. Good sized and portion to share with the family. The little one kept asking for more and loves it. Cole slaw was good, had the crunch, the creamy, slight tang to it. Mashed potatoes tastes all right. They fry everything made to order, so either call in your order or expect to wait 10-20 minutes depending on what you get. I ordered the 2-piece dark with a side of fried okra. I haven't had okra in years and it was so crisp on the outside and tender inside. The chicken itself had a nice thin coating and fried perfectly. I thought the seasoning was good, just the right amount of salt and tender. I'm not one to order dipping sauces and am a purist when it comes to fried chicken. Nothing special to mention, seasoned well but very simple and basic. Giblets and liver was good texture too. But again, seasoned well but nothing special. Oysters were great! Tasted fresh, fried well. Nice fried coating. Was just missing lemons, we ran out at home too, but that would have made it awesome. Overall, seasoning could have been more, maybe some more spices, something to give it a kick, an umph,,,something. The hot sauce on the side that came with our order was not enough of a flavor add.
