I was originally going to head to In and Out Burgers in Santee, but after driving there I quickly changed my mind. The drive through was so long, it made me reconsider. I decided to tryAnny's Fine Burgers. I ordered a regular burger with lettuce and tomato plus onion the way my Dad likes, oh and pickles too. I decided to get one also prepared the same way. I normally do not eat red meat because I am a chicken, shrimp, and fish lover but on occasion I will make an exception if a restaurant knows how to make good burgers. I ordered for both of us, but I had to quickly eat mine so I could write this review and satisfy my raging appetite . The girl behind the counter was so friendly and helpful. She brought me a plate and my bag of food. I opened the wrapper and my eyes were in awe because this bigger was large in size and looked fresh. I bit down thinking there was no way I could eat it all. But, I did! I devoured it in five minutes! It was fresh, delicious, and juicy! They seasoned it to perfection . So glad they do not overly salt their burgers. I also ordered a homemade lemonade and a side of fries for my Dad to enjoy. I better go now as I need to deliver this deliciousness to my Dad! Once again I find myself here at Annys Burger and once again they killed it. Staff is fantastic and patient their burger are huge and delicious. I got the Sand Dune burger and it's cool to perfection and Cajon fries crisp and taste fantastic. It's always clean inside here and they have plenty seating with tables that will seat 8 adults. First time here. Lot's of great choices on the menu beside burgers. Chicken, fish, salads, hot dogs. We shared a bowl of garlic fries which we loved. Fries are a separate charge. My friend enjoyed his hickory bbq burger. My swiss mushroom garlic burger was a little tough and not seasoned at all. I let my friend try it. I think the bun may have had garlic aoli on it because I wasn't able to taste it on the burger or the mushrooms. The service was friendly. Wheelchair accessible. We spent about $40 w drinks. This place is amazing! Many unique burger options and they also have gourmet hot dogs, chicken and fish. I got the hangover burger. It was huge and came with bacon, cheese, a fried egg, pickles and potato chips. It might sound strange but it was soooo delicious. I asked for well and it was perfectly cooked and seasoned to perfection. I also ordered the regular fries which were nice and crispy with a really good flavor, too. My husband got the Kung Pao chicken wings, a chef salad and a shake and he said everything was very good. I didn't get to try the wings since I was stuffed...but he brought some home so I can get a chance! The service was pleasant, prompt and accommodating. The restaurant is clean and decorated so cute with pictures of their burgers, as well as several old time food advertisement signs. They're not cheap, but it's way better to pay a little more for quality food that tastes amazing than getting cheaper food that is disappointing. I don't know what was worse, the food or the service. Cashier had an attitude from the start. I ordered 2 burgers and garlic fries. Cashier who took the order brought out 1 burger first and nothing else. 7 minutes later she brings out the other burger which made wrong. I asked what about the fries. Oh yeah they are on the way. 5 minutes later garlic fries arrived. Burgers have absolutely ZERO flavor, and garlic fries are a joke and a half. Fake garlic fries with again ZERO flavor. The cashier has this mean look on her. I told her this is how you do business? Bring out 1 item at a time and the food is absolutely HORRIBLE! I wish I can give this place ZERO stars. I prefer Anny's Fine over Five Guys in my mouth. I have visited here a couple of times as well as their Kearny Mesa location. This dining room area is relatively smaller in comparison, but the neighborhood restaurant has enough space to accommodate several families and beer buddy groups. There are also common area patio tables within the Santee Trolley Square food court area by the MTS station. Ample parking spaces too. Received a friendly greeting as I walked in. Checked out their chalkboard menu as well as the giant printed wall menu. Noticed some craft beers on tap. Took me a moment to decide on my to-go order because of the menu choices and options. Wifey got a Sand Dune and our Mini-Meez got their cheeseburger kids meals. This time I tried their Korean bbq steak sandwich. This craveable snack is hefty and could be a messy knife-and-fork meal for some to share. The bread held up well against the cheesy melty peppers and onions in the to-go box. Tender steak bites were tasty. For whatever reason my buds tasted more sweet teriyaki flavors over savory bulgogi vibes. Mini-me 2.0 wanted to check out the Bacon Cheese Fries. It's a good portion. We went to Anny's after son's flag football game. We each got a burger and a side. Everything was great. We all tried each others food and even my picky son loved each bite. The place was kinda busy and only a few seats open. People were getting done eating after we order and we were able to get a seat. Food came out quickly. The staff were friendly and asked if we needed anything else. The place was clean. From the floors to the drink area no trash or old food anywhere. My son wants to come back after each game. We have gone to this place before, and it was great. However, I placed a phone order; my husband picked it up at 430pm he was home by 440pm, literally 10 minutes away. 2 turkey burgers and a fry: $47.00. The bread was hard; the turkey burger was chewy and rubbery, cold. The bacon was not crispy; it was cooked in the morning and set all day. They put nothing but pickles and lettuce on them; should have had everything on it but sun-dried mayo. We only took 1 bite and were instantly disgusted. We did not eat any of our food, complete waste of money. The worst part is I have called every day since Friday, now 5 days, and get the same response from the staff. "Managers not here; I can take your number to have her call you back," or "I will call her right now and have her call you." NOTHING. Funny thing is, I never went into detail with staff on why I was calling, just that I need to speak to a manager; the fact that the manager doesn't even care to return a phone call from someone who has called 5 days in a row says a lot about this place. I can't give 5 stars only because I'm not a fan of the prices. 2 chicken sandwiches, a drink and a side order of waffle fries were $39 and that's including tip. That was only for my son and I!! Enough lighting to feel comfortable. We took ours to go. My son's chicken sandwich came out wrong, so he went back to get it fixed. The chicken is fried, which is what we ordered and almost like a flat patty. It was big enough, the chicken sticks out of the bun from both sides. The waffle fries are delicious and nicely seasoned. I'm a little bummed they didn't put condiments in there, or at least ask us. So make sure you ask for condiments! I want to say it's worth coming in to check it out. I've made it no secret my favorite burger joint is in Barrio Logan. But we were shopping in Santee and came across Anny's. I have to say it's a pretty burger. The photo doesn't do it justice. The party fits perfectly, and it's a generous 1/2 pound. Here are the micro critiques, and this is where it's just preference. They serve an Angus burger which is why it held its shape, there is no burger shrinkage here, but it also means not a lot of juice or fat. It was underseasoned and just needed a dash of S&P before serving. The fries were perfectly cooked, and they came w great condiments.
