This review has been a long time coming. We used Plotke a few times and were happy with their service. In February 2024, we had a sewage backup in the downstairs sink that spilled over onto the floor and flooded the hall. Plotke sent us a plumber who must not have been very experienced. He didn't bring a camera and stated that he would need two people to use one. He snaked out the line from the backyard to the street, but that did not fully resolve the issue. He pulled one of the upstairs toilets to snake the line down to the first floor. Rather than the snake going down the line, it went horizontally into the primary bathroom, breaking the toilet, nicking the walls, marble flooring, cabinet and bathroom door. In addition, it made a mess of sewage on the floor, walls and door. Another Plotke plumber came by to help. They used a camera (finally). I asked them about fixing and cleaning the mess in the bathroom. They gave me some excuse about not cleaning even though Plotke made the mess. They certainly saw the mess they made. The only thing they did was replace the broken toilet. I think they forgot to seal around it, too. Well, we were in the thick of it because we still had a problem since water was backing up in the upstairs shower. We called a different plumbing company, T.M. Bennett. He brought a camera; was able to use it by himself. He was knowledgeable, found the problem, and resolved the issue. Of course, we had to replace the downstairs flooring, vanity and some of the walls after the backup and that took a long time. See photos showing some of the damage to primary bathroom walls, door, toilet, cabinet and mess caused by Plotke. By the way, Plotke never refunded any of the money we paid them. read more

They answered their phone and sent someone on 1/30/24 out to fix at the time provided. The job required a replacement of the water valve connected to toilet. That was done to satisfaction though I was surprised of the condition he left it in. The bathroom was clean before but he left black streaks of grease and gray/black marks on toilet tank, toilet cover, seat and wall. Not sure why the toilet got all dirty since the valve was on the wall. Two days later I noticed he left the meter box near sidewalk with cover open and a water device connected to meter. We called company and the woman said she would have Matthew come by and correct. Well it's 2/3/24 and no one has come to put the outside meter gage and box cover back so we did it. Hopefully we got it right. Don't use this company the quality and work reliability is not good. Also discovered that our hot water circulation was not working on our kitchen sink. I found that the circulation pump on the hot water heater had been unplugged from the outlet. Only possible explanation is the plumber unplugged it and forgot to plug it back in. read more

I had used Plotke for years up until company was sold to current owners (last time I used them was probably 6ish years ago). Back when I was using company under Claire's ownership/leadership, Plotke was not cheap, BUT they were reputable and did excellent work! A few months ago I believed I had a plumbing issue (6/24) n called Plotke. An online form requesting a service appt must first be filled out. Next came a series of texts between myself n a woman named Perla at Plotke. I described in detail the previous work that had been done in this area of my condo n why I thought there might now be an issue, an in-wall leak, specifically, thus warranting a request for their services. An employee named Jason came out the following day . Jason spent a solid 5 minutes explaining back to me what I had explained to Perla...5 minutes upstairs away from actual area with issue. We went downstairs to bath area where Jason reiterated, for another 5 min, what he had said upstairs but this time adding I would need to call in a leak expert b4 Plotke could/would determine anything. Back upstairs for Jason to exit ... he said he "didn't want to" charge me anything n was leaving the ticket open until I got a leak specialist to look into ...again, regurgitating everything I said to Perla. . A few weeks later, guess what I got WITH all above description of interaction! A bill for $220! I called Perla, refused to pay $220 n agreed to a reasonable site visit charge of $75. This plumbing company is outrageously expensive. They charged more than $500.00 to change a simple bathroom faucet and I bought the faucet and the lines. There are other plumbers that are half the price, I learned later. I will be using them in the future. If money is no option, call this company, otherwise shop around. read more

I purchased the regulator myself at Standard Plumbing in Solana Beach because it cost $124.54 there, and Plotke was going to charge me $262 for it. The woman on the phone at Plotke helped me find the size of the regulator I needed to buy by looking at the photos I sent her. She was nice enough to help me save money! How awesome is that? I looked Plotke up on the California Contractors License Board, and they are licensed and bonded, which is very important; I speak from an experience with an unlicensed roofer. read more

We called based on a referral for our shower to be fixed. They overcharged us just to review the situation. We found out by getting a second opinion. They also couldn't find the part even though it was available on Amazon and really forced us to look for it. They entered a complaint ticket on the Pfister website on our behalf and basically said, "Good luck. Call us if they find your part and then we can install it." I got the part and had a different plumbing company install the piece for a fraction of the amount. I informed the person that referred us to Plotke to begin with and they are now not using this company moving forward. You didn't just lose us but you lost the one who referred you. Shouldn't overcharge people and make them do the work for you. read more

Had these guys out a while back to clear a drain. The only reason I'm giving two stars instead of one is because they did, in fact, clear the drain. These guys will charge you hourly. Then, if they use any equipment like a drain snake or whatever, they charge you for using the equipment needed for the job. It's ridiculous! An update on this review. 2.5 months into the new hot water tank and the weather turned a little colder, so we went to adjust the knob on the hot water tank. Well, there's no knob. I called Plotke and asked them to text me a photo of which door to open up to adjust it. Instead, Sheryl offered to have someone stop by to show us. Next thing I know, I'm getting a $185 invoice for a 5-10 minute visit/demo of how to adjust it. Stupid me, after 20 years and $25K of work with Plotke and a great history with the former owners, I figured this was after-service, since they could and should have shown us this when they did the hot water tank install in Aug. I went from elation at their great after-service, to complete surprise and disappointment. I was never told they were going to charge a trip charge. Had I known that, I would have declined and looked on YouTube. So much for after-service. When I complained, they said they would reduce the invoice down to $75. Very questionable business practices here, for "I'll have someone stop by" as a follow-up on an issue that wasn't explained at install immediately is transformed into Plotke's revenue opportunity. And never was it mentioned that there would be any cost for the person to stop by and show us. You make the choice. I won't be using Plotke any more. This has all been really sad given the long history we had with the prior owners. read more

We had a sudden pinhole leak that soaked the wall and floors in our garage. We were not sure where is was coming from, so we called Plotke Plumbing, which we have used in the past to resolve various plumbing issues. They have always done perfect work, and this time was no exception. Pearla dispatched Jason to our home right away, and he was FANTASTIC!!! SO professional, extremely knowledgeable, clean and experienced, with a great personality and conscientious regarding time management. Bait and switch tactic. I called them to look at a leak in the garage coming from the guest bath directly above it. I told the lady that the leak only comes when the shower above is being used. No pipe were exposed in the garage and water leaks through the ceiling. She says she can send someone to take a look and that the plumber can help identify and fix the issue. Well, the plumber came in, looked at the leak and said "Oh, the leak is behind the wall/ceiling, I can't do anything until the wall is removed". He handed me a phone number and left. In and out under 5 min. A few days later, I received a bill for $150. For what? I would NEVER use or recommend anyone using this place. We called Hanna Plumbing and the plumber came in and figured out the issue and fixed the problem within 90 min. Full cost for that was $322. Issue fixed. read more
