I would not recommend Personal Plumbing, Heating & Cooling based on my experience. When I called the office, I was told there would be an initial service fee of $79. When the technician, Scott, arrived, all he did was reset a switch and vacuum up some water. The visit took no more than 45 minutes. He initially told me the total would be $350.00 which I agreed to because he said it would also include replacing the filter and performing some additional work. However, that work was never done. When the job was finished, he unexpectedly demanded $390--an additional $40 that had never been explained beforehand. To make matters worse, he then insisted that he needed to return for a more thorough inspection of my air conditioning unit, which would cost another $190. He also warned me that he might find additional problems that could cost thousands of dollars. I felt like I was being pressured into paying for more services than I actually needed. The pricing changed without a clear explanation, The promised work was not completed. Because of this experience, I have lost trust in this company and would not use their services again. read more

I thought I had initially looked at the reviews when Yelp sent my request to this company but now I see quite a few that would have turned me off. So here's my experience. Yelp sent them a request to replace my bathroom fans. Response was prompt and professional. They did repeatedly keep reaching out to schedule an appointment l. My husband and I both work regular full time jobs and if you've followed me on Yelp you know I consider my time to be valuable and I expect the customer service of any company I deal with to respect it I was offered 8-10 or 8-12 which is strange but I assumed if I choose 8-10 I would be first or earlier than whoever chooses 8-12. Apparently those time frames mean nothing and I should have seen the red flag. I was called at 9 and told the guy can't come til 12-4. That was not the time I chose I cannot be sitting here all day, as I said a weekday off is rare for me and being that a lot of companies work regular full time hours as I do I need the freedom to get things done. Guy came at 11. Seemed nice and knowledgeable. They tested the voltage and wanted to charge $200 for a diagnosis of thr issue of voltage drop. According to other reviews their pricing is way too high compared to other places. So entire electrical replacement would be extremely priced. I did feel that it was an upsell situation like some of the other negative reviews. This is not the first time we've had someone for home repairs upsell us so being that we got screwed once and said no to another thing that we obviously didn't need as it never caused issues we're gonna go with no at this time. The first electrical company that came who couldn't find a replacement fan tested the voltage and didn't say anything about it. I'm not trying to downplay the voltage issue. I know it's not a good situation but also kinda confused how an "analysis" would cost $300 but they quoted me $5000 to replace the outlets and such without knowing if that's the problem. This "Personal Plumbing" company way overcharged us. did not answer calls, or return my calls. An AI robot answers the phone- talks like a human (very creepy) but it is a robot AI. I was never able to talk to a human. was told several times by the AI that someone would call back, nobody ever did. I had an appoint today (waited fro 5 hours) and nobody came. They charged 12,000$ for a rather small job (no indoor digging or anything like that) and my plumbing still backs up with mud into the sink. they did not supply any of the paperwork I requested (invoices, conctracts). this company is a Major scam. if you look up their office on Maps, it is a garage. stay away!!! all the good review must be fake.. I had posted my previous subpar experience with Personal Plumbing not too long ago. I thought I'd give them another shot since they did offer me a complimentary maintenance service as a "make good" from last time. Unfortunately they couldn't even get this right this time around either. Basically I called them earlier this week on Mon or Tue to come out to help flush our tankless water heater as well as check in on a high water pressure issue that I've been noticing. I spoke to someone at the office named Jimmy, and we scheduled an appointment for a 2 hour window between 10am-12noon on Friday - plenty of lead time since it was several days away. Jimmy did tell me that the technician will call or text when he's on the way. Okay sounds good. I cleared out work meetings on my calendar so I can accommodate this 2 hour window. Friday rolls around and I'm waiting for someone to call/text to let me know they are on the way. Nothing. I decided to call their office at 12:30pm to check and see if anyone was coming. The phone was picked up by an AI robot call responder that tried to sound human and ultimately wasn't helpful - it just told me that someone will call me back. I thought this was ironic since their company name is "Personal Plumbing". I get a call back an hour or so later from Lukas who was my first point of contact from my previous job request. He said he wasn't able to come out today but told me he will check back with the office to see if any rearrangements can be made. Then, almost another hour later I get a call back from Jimmy at the office asking what time they can send someone out on Monday. At his point, most of the day is wasted and I'm done waiting around for them and told them I will work with another plumber instead. In my total experience with the company, the (live) people there are all very nice and polite, so this 1 star rating isn't to report rude behavior. Our experience with personal plumbing has been a challenge, We own rental properties and used them to replace a compressor in late July of 2026 in Escondido. Our new unit worked for a couple of weeks. It is now mid Sept 2026 and have had zero response receiving updates on the status of our job. We have called (politely and patiently) and have yet to receive a manager call back. Hence, our tenant has not had A/C for weeks. We do not take the time to post negative reviews, however after placing 6 calls over the last few days, we are left with no choice but to warn others of the lack of integrity; professionalism; and poor customer service. We had used Excel Air previously and they were superior. Our guess is excel air sold to PP as this was the number we had as the contact. They were my first bid of the day on a project to replace two hose taps and install a totally new one on the back of my property. Their bid was three times as high as my second bid for the same job. They also wanted to do things like test my water pressure and look at my water heater, even though I wasn't calling about my water heater. I initially started using this company for plumbing and had a fairly good experience with them in restoring my shower. I had decided to quote them for installation/repair for HVAC. I had a really negative experience to the point I do have to say something, even if it was just estimating. I had (can't say his name due to him knowing where I live) came over to quote, he did everything in his power to upsell me. I had an old unit that needed to be replaced, but he basically saw who I was and was convincing me that I needed to gut the whole thing. Was doing the sales tactics where they talk with their "manager" and come in out of the unit to tire me. He was there for an over hour doing this back and forth while I was remotely working. They had quoted me $28k-$30k, while other estimates from companies came in at $11k-$14k. Using high pressure sales on me saying that they would discount if I hired them for the next day. I told them I would speak with my father, and they insisted they'd give me a moment to call him on the spot. The part I regret as well is that I was stupidly convinced to pay $200+ to do a air diagnostics report that I am not allowed to have because they don't want me to shop around. I had other people who came in who were able to look at the ducts for a couple of minutes and tell me right away what was going on. I had to call multiple times after to see if I can get any type of report from their findings. I'm no stranger to sales tactics as a women when going to trades, but I'd be very weary using this company as it does seem they are on commission, have high prices, and use pressure sales. I have used this company in the past with success. This time it was a disaster. The running toilet he "fixed" started to run again after he left. He was sent by the company two days later to fix it. When he arrived he told me "installation of toilet tank parts was very tricky". He said that since it was such a hard job he recommended I replace the toilet at a cost of $1,000. I told him the toilet was 3 years old and the company he was working for had installed it. I didn't need a new toilet ....I needed a trained professional plumber. I ended up canceling my credit card payment. I'm not even going to go into the hard sell with a backup person arriving regarding 2 other things I needed to have done. Hired Personal Plumbing to fix a running toilet; our home was in escrow and did not want to mess it up. $600 to just replace the guts of the toilet I thought was expensive but whatever let's get it done. Joe was very nice and efficient and thought he did a great job...however a week or so later I noticed the ground was wet and the floorboard paint ruined from a leaking toilet. I called to have the toilet fixed; Joe came back and said he somehow damaged the gasket which caused the leak. He "fixed" the toilet and told me to talk with the office to get a credit for the damage. I called the office (or course no answer) and no response a month later. I had an urgent issue at a rental property with a gas leak that required SDGE to turn off gas to the home. Personal plumbing was able to isolate and repair the leaks as well as pressurize the lines to ensure the leaks were repaired which is required for SDGE to turn the gas back on. Lucas was our technician and he was extremely helpful in communicating with me and answering my questions. He also was onsite when SDGE arrived to ensure that everything was satisfactory and the gas could be turned back on. While repairing the gas lines they also identified a leak in a vertical cast iron drain pipe connected to an upstairs toilet, which was fortunate as they were also able to complete that repair. I would highly recommend them for urgent and complex repairs and will use Personal plumbing again in the future. read more

5 star for the technician Johnny. Not sure about the price, was quoted and paid $536.00 for troubleshooting outlets(2) not working. I googled how much for troubleshooting and it showed between &130 - $270 with most customer spent $190. The outlets got fixed which consists of opening one outlet and adjusting the wire and tightening screws on breaker box. He also checked the voltage on 5 outlets. So not sure if the $536 is reasonable for an hour job. Also, was told that they give military discount but none received. I forgot the explanation from Johnny. Just giving my honest opinion. I was able to get estimated (which they showed everything and thoroughly explained the issue) and get service within a matter of 2 days. They did an excellent job and the problem seemed fixed. 1 week later, the stoppage happened again. **SCAM ALERT** recently hired Personal Plumbing to perform a hydro-jet and camera inspection, as well as install a new main shutoff and pressure regulator at my home. Technician Aiden Johnson arrived with a person he described as his "partner," Eric, who was not in any identifiable uniform and did not clearly present himself as an employee of Personal Plumbing. They ran a camera through my line but never allowed me to see the live footage or any recording from the inspection. Instead, they came back to me with urgent "EMERGENCY" news, claiming I needed approximately 40,000-50,000 dollars in immediate plumbing repairs. They did not provide a written, itemized quote, would not show me the camera video to substantiate their claims, and did not complete the hydro-jetting, shutoff, or pressure-regulator work I originally requested. Because the situation felt wrong, I brought in another licensed plumber to independently evaluate my system. The second plumber inspected my main line and confirmed there were no signs of the catastrophic damage that Personal Plumbing allegedly found, and that the main sewer lines had already been replaced with ABS at some point in the past. Based on this second opinion, it appears that the large "emergency" repair estimate from Aiden and his partner Eric was not supported by actual conditions in my plumbing system and came across as an attempted scam. read more

"Took Advantage of a 72-Year-Old -- $2,575 for a 2-Hour Job" My father, a 72-year-old man, hired Personal Plumbing to install a stove he had already purchased -- so this was purely a labor/installation job. They quoted him $2,000 for what they described as an all-day job that would require cutting through granite countertops. Based on that explanation, my father agreed. When the electrician showed up, the stove slid right into place -- no granite cutting, no complicated work, nothing. The entire job took roughly 2 hours. Despite that, my father was charged $2,575.02. For context, Home Depot and other reputable providers charge approximately $500 for a standard stove installation. To make matters worse, my father has been trying to reach a manager for a callback ever since the job was completed. He has been completely ignored. We have since sent a formal written complaint demanding a $2,000 refund and have notified them that we will be disputing the charge with American Express, filing complaints with the Better Business Bureau, and contacting the California Contractor State License Board. If you are a senior or have an elderly parent, I would strongly caution you against using this company. What happened to my father feels like textbook price gouging and elder financial exploitation. read more

We had a clogged toilet. When plumber came, he tried some simple way to fix it but not successful. He proposed to move the toilet and snake it and camera it down to see the details. The cost is more than $900. He can't do it on the same day and has to schedule on a different day. but on the scheduled day they didn't come due to short of staff. When they finally come, although they fix the clog, but the camera ran out of battery. After they finished and left, I found the water meter shut off switch cover on the street was left open and it's dangerous. However the technicians were very friendly and hard working and communicating issues well with us. read more

I want to preface this review by saying if I could only rate the technicians (especially Lukas) then this would be a 5-star review. However, the office has been extremely disorganized for over a month and is now refusing to call me back after multiple attempts to speak to the General Manager. We got a brand new water heater from Personal Plumbing in December 2023 and had no issues until March 2025 when the pilot light kept going out. Lukas and another technician came out on March 20, 2025, to look at everything and suggested replacing a few parts that were under warranty. Lukas informed my husband that after we approved the quote for labor, then Personal Plumbing could pick up the parts that we needed. Two weeks later (on April 5, 2025) I approved the quoted work and I was scheduled for repair on April 8, 2025. Based on what Lukas told my husband about needing to order the parts, I called the office and asked if the parts would be ready in just a few days. I was assured that the parts would be ready for my appointment on April 8th. However, on April 8th, I got a call from the office asking if they could reschedule me to the following Monday because several employees called out sick. Since we now had no hot water, I asked if we could be scheduled for any time sooner and they said they would get back to me. I then spoke to Randy who was very helpful and told me that they didn't even have my parts to complete the repair and that we never should have had our repair scheduled for that day. He also said that whoever scheduled me for repair on April 8th broke Personal Plumbing's protocol and he didn't catch it because he was on vacation. He promised to call a parts wholesaler and call me back by the end of the day. When I spoke to Randy again a few hours later, he told me that the parts would be in later on in the week and he would push our repair to the front of the line. I was definitely frustrated at this point, but I appreciated Randy's help and explanation. On April 11, 2025, Randy called me back to say the parts were in and he scheduled our repair for April 14, 2025, between 12-2 p.m. No one showed up by 2:30, so I called the office and asked what the ETA was for the plumber. Julie (?) apologized and said someone should have called me earlier, but they had moved the window to 2-4 p.m. I was frustrated but I continued to wait. 4:02 p.m. rolled around without a plumber, so I called the office again. Julie was very apologetic and promised that the plumber would be there within the hour. I expressed how frustrated I was at the entire process and she told me that she would forward my complaint to a General Manager who would call me the next day. Lukas did finally show up at 4:45 p.m. and he was able to complete the repair very quickly. He also offered me a slight discount, which I appreciated, but I still feel like I overpaid for the quality of service that I received from the office. Of course, no one called me the following day. On April 16, 2025, I called the office again requesting to speak to the General Manager, who called me back shortly after my call. I explained the weeks-long process to him and why I was so frustrated with the disorganization from the office. I also informed him that I was 7 months pregnant and I had been without hot water for several weeks due (in part) to their disorganization. He told me that he would talk to Lukas and Randy to get more information about our case and he would call me back soon. By April 22, 2025, I still hadn't heard back from the General Manager. I called the office yet again and spoke to Jimmy, who told me he would forward my message and I would hopefully hear back from the GM soon. It's been 8 days since my last call and I still haven't heard back from anyone at Personal Plumbing. I have been extremely disappointed by this process and the lack of communication from the office. My kitchen sink wasn't draining and after spending hours trying YouTube remedies (baking soda & vinegar, Drain-o, plunger) I finally had to call a plumber. After seeing water come out of the "cleanout" pipe outside the house (didn't even know that existed), Eric quickly determined that the clog was not in the sink or even inside the house. It was actually 35 feet down the main drain outside the house. He used a "snake" to remove the clog and everything worked after that. $341 to snake the drain. They also performed a free camera inspection and we could see inside of the drain line. They do offer a "scaling" service to remove the film from the sidewalls (much like a dentist would do to plaque) but that was quite a bit over my budget. Service was quick. Eric was very courteous and efficient. Overall happy with the quick turnaround. read more
