I hired Burtech Plumbing to replace the main water supply line which had started leaking under the driveway. They quoted $15,000 to trench about 40 feet through dirt and install about 90 feet of copper pipe into the garage. On the first day two laborers and one plumber arrived. The laborers completed the trenching in about 6 hours and the plumber completed his work and restored service by the end of the day. Two laborers showed up the following day for a couple of hours to fill in the trench and clean up. The workers were professional and efficient and the work quality was quite good. Having said that, I believe that the quote was high. The lesson here is get multiple quotes. read more

I contacted this company for what turned out to be a routine shower cartridge replacement. The cartridge handle had sheared, which can be slightly tricky but is a very common and well-understood repair. I did some research, and the only good thing about Burtech was their quick response. However... The technician who came out did not attempt the repair at all. Instead, he immediately began pushing a full shower valve replacement, a much more time-intensive and expensive fix, warning that any attempt to simply replace the cartridge was "risky," "not technically correct," and could cause leaks. What should have been a roughly $300-$400 job was quoted at $1,500-$2,000, accompanied by repeated scare-based warnings, and telling me if I don't sign today to do the fix and authorize it, I will not get the discount and $80 diagnostic fee back. When I mentioned that I had other plumbers coming for second opinions, the technician noticeably changed his position. He stated that other plumbers might fix it for less, but implied that doing so would be unprofessional or "not technically correct," which I found troubling, because everything I found online did not match this. After getting two other independent opinions, every other licensed plumber I spoke to said the same thing: it was a straightforward cartridge replacement, slightly stubborn but entirely routine, and absolutely did not justify replacing the entire valve. One plumber summed it up bluntly: "The only unprofessional thing here is not even trying." I ultimately hired another plumber who: - Said the fix was actually easier than he thought (he was able to grip the broken cartridge without any issues. - Replaced not one, but two shower cartridges (did another shower for maintenance) - Charged $400 total - Completed the work quickly and cleanly - Verified there were no leaks - Provided a 1-year warranty, stating he was fully confident a simple replacement was all that was needed Basically, I paid Burtech's plumbing $80 call fee simply to be upsold on unnecessary work using fear-based language. I understand that companies may choose conservative policies, but misrepresenting a standard repair as "not technically correct" to pressure customers into expensive replacements is simply not acceptable. I would strongly recommend getting a second opinion before agreeing to any major work from this company. read more

7/21/25 Burtech plumber arrived to fix a toilet that did not reliably stop flushing. He said the problem was the handle, trotted of to store then replaced handle. Assured me of the warranty but said there should not be further problem. The toilet has continued to leak, albeit smaller & less frequent amounts. Today 8/4/25 a follow up plumber wanted to charge $175 to replace the seal. I protested & called their office & was offered $50 off the $175 because first plumber just wrote "teplaced handle" on $150 invoice so I cancelled what would have been a &500 job for the rest of the plumbing to be done today. Some warranty. Check very carefully - they misrepresented my initial request. Warranty is worthless. read more

Kyle was friendly, professional, arrived early, explained and demonstrated the replacement procedure, worked efficiently and thoroughly. We appreciated his attention to detail. I am (or was) a long-time customer of Burtech Plumbing and have recommended them to multiple neighbors due to their honesty and fair pricing and honest service technicians - NO MORE. I make it a practice to have my bathroom sinks and showers snaked once per year and have relied upon Burtech for these services in the past. Last year, the shower drain cleanout they did was the best one I have ever had done, and the tech went above and beyond IMO to not only get it clog free, but provided me with several money saving tips to keep it clog free and running properly. I just called to schedule a cleaning for my bathroom sink and for the first time ever, they would NOT provide any sort of a price estimate before sending someone "out to the house to take a look first." Burtech appears to have gone the way of many others - pricing is SOLELY based upon how nice (or large) your house is, how gullible they think you are (single women are likely big targets) and how much $$$ they think you can or are willing to pay for service, and THEN they price accordingly. Sorry, Burtech, you have forever lost my business and that of my neighbors who constantly ask for referrals.
