This is a wine bar, so I had a cocktail... It was my choice to have a cocktail, but they sounded awesome. I had the cucumber infused vodka cilantro one and it was good, creative for sure, but not great. Not sure what was missing actually. The wine selection was good. Expect to pay big city, as in NYC, prices here, which I was surprised by in a smaller town. They have 2 menus. Lunch and dinner. The both looked good but I did not eat here. Tables around me, it was pretty crowded, got food and it looked good. Since plates were cleaned I think it was enjoyed. The tables are very close together, and they seem small for more than two, maybe three people, yet I saw 4 at some. The servers are very peasant here, that's for sure, but they seem a little distracted, harried, or simply overwhelmed, I'm not sure which. This is a place where people actually wore shirts with collars (guys) and dresses (cute summer ones, but you get the idea) for the ladies. There were no flip flops in the place that I saw, and the visible tattoos were mostly reserved for the staff. In fact, now that I think about it, the clientele were all nicely dressed, one might say well healed, but the staff was a little casual. No biggie, but somewhat striking after the visit. Sit outside in back. That's where the locals sit (I was told by locals anyway). I'd come back here for sure, but would want to make sure I got a better cocktail for the price. read more

Plonk is a wonderful place to meet up with friends and enjoy coconut martinis and wonderful cheeseboards. Very nice ambiance and waitstaff.

Really nice meal, easily comparable to good dining in NYC or SF. We both had the hearts of palm cakes, venison, and the honeycomb dessert. Back patio was pleasant (though kids making echos in the parking garage was annoying, not Plonk's fault). Very nice wait staff. What a find! read more

So stinking good. My husband and I stopped in here a couple weekends ago for a small meal. We ordered the cheese starter and shared the Elk chop dinner. It was a perfect amount of food for two people to share, and it was delicious. Every single bite made my mouth happy. It was a bit crowded, and people were standing way too close to us while we were actually trying to have a meal... which was weird. asked to split a bill because we were leaving before the rest of our party and was denied. when we asked for a third time to have our bill separately from rest of our party we were met with demeaning attitudes and acted like we were being done a favor. we barley saw our server within the hour we were there and weren't even able to order a separate round of drinks. have been in many times before and this has never been an issue. deterred is from returning based off service. read more

Unfortunate experience all around at this restaurant. Took forever to get our drinks, dinner, dessert. Also, we were told it was dog friendly on the patios but once seated, instructed that our 7# pup had to be kept outside the fence. Then, watched locals with huge dogs parade through the restaurant and hold their dogs inside the fence. Major bummer. Food was good when it finally came and the server was very pleasant. Plonk is the perfect spot for a date or an intimate catch-up with a good friend. It's a bit of an institution in Bozeman, and for good reason! They have a wonderful selection of cocktails that are really well made and some good food to go with. For cocktails I can recommend the gin blossom, the coconut rickey (on the sweeter and creamier side), and the crime scene. If you're going to get some food, too, the burger is really solid and so juicy it'll run down your forearms. They have quite a few vegetarian options; of the ones we tried, the jackfruit sloppy jose are tasty but miniscule, and the buckwheat soba is fine, but not as much flavor in the broth as we'd like. We felt really well taken care of here, and the atmosphere is lively enough to have a private conversation but not so loud that you have to shout. read more

We went here on a Sunday evening. I asked the manager about at 10 different wines. She was so kind, went down to look up all the wines for me, texted the owner about the wines I was looking at and answered all my questions. I asked her to surprise me with a bottle. I had the bottle last night with some friends and it was fabulous. The staff was so friendly and they have a great selection of wines. I do recommend buying a bottle as opposed to going per glass. The bottle list is better than the by the glass. Also the bottles are well priced. read more

There cocktails are arguably the best in Bozeman, and there food is good as well- the mussels in particular. Bozeman is one of my favorite towns, and think this is now my favorite Bozeman bar. Had just a little bit of time to walk along Main St and have a cocktail, and my brother, who is a local (and apparently knows me well) recommended this place. Absolutely loved it. Great cocktails; very cool, but welcoming atmosphere. They've been around for just almost exactly 10 yes, but still doing it up right. Saw the bartender mix up a cool- looking green martini called gpf which looked pretty tasty. Asked him about it, and the hip little old lady next to me at the bar said, it's f-ing good! Didn't expect that. But, OK, I like this place. Had to try it, and it was. It had fresh basil, ginger, lemon, lime, vodka -all kinds of good stuff. Was out here for my grandma's 90th bday on the 23rd, and the bartender John just had his bday (about 60 yrs younger) on the 22nd. The food looked amazing, too, but had to walk back for a family dinner, so didn't get to try it out this time. Definitely want to come back, though. Very cool spot. read more

Plonk is overpriced and bland. I've been there more than a handful of times and every time they are out of at least two of the things I wanted to order. Their cocktails are as expensive as in a city and not half as good. The waitstaff doesn't really know the menu or what's available at the bar. They either need to lower their prices or figure out how to make their offerings better. Also, if you don't have the special flight of the week or any cheeses, why not just take it off your menu? (The menus are little pages on a clipboard...it's not that hard) read more

The menu says they have GF (gluten free) kimchi pork meatballs. I was here 7days ago and had a great experience. Then, I come back to have that great experience again and it's so SAD-and super annoyed by the CHEF who made changes to put PANKO and bread crumbs in the meatballs!! MENU still says GF. (Waiter says "because they won't stick together") a week ago they were delicious! Now I can't eat them and came back just for that. Why? Terrible experience with a menu that changes for no reason. I feel bad for the wait staff. Change or update the menu and add more GF options and make the meatballs GF. They were FINE! read more

We spent a bit time with the "kids" here celebrating birthdays. We love the staples of Bozeman and the brewery's galore - but Plonk adds a new dimension to town. Eclectic and urban with a fun drink menu. Staff did a great job of keeping all the tables around us served and refreshed. One wish - the meat and cheese trays - pretty slim pickings. - 4 pieces of meat, one slice of the cheeses. Come on. But raves for the atmosphere, comfy seating and well made cocktails. UPDATE: Owners response reflects my previous review. We don't have a problem with dog policy, we have a problem being told the policy after being seated and ordering food. We were also told by a gentleman not a female. The owner wasn't present and should probably consult her staff. Worst service I've ever had in my life. Seated 1st and served last. Sat on patio and they waited until we ordered to tell us NO DOGS! AFTER WE ALREADY SAT FOR 45 mins! Meanwhile it took 30 to take our order hahaha. We told them we would take food to go and they brought us the WRONG FOOD! Then on second attempt my wife's order was still wrong haha this place is an absolute joke! Plonk is the real deal...and very well priced during Happy Hour. The food, drinks and service were all top notch. We had the beet gnocchis, tomato tartar and flank steak salad. Yummm!!! Everything about the restaurant was a fantastic experience from the moment we were greeted at the front door. We had a creative bartender make us his version of an after dinner drink called the Matte Black Ferrari. Dinner was so tasty, and love the vibe of the place. Love this place. To start with great atmosphere and staff. Jon at bar is a mix master and can make anything you want and the wine selection really surprised me with the deep and varied selections. We came here two nights in a row for after dinner drinks. The wine and cocktail lists are outstanding, as was the service. The first night we were there, they were so busy....I've never seen a server hustle that hard with a smile on her face the whole time. I had the gin and juice followed by the coconut Rickie, and both were amazing. I can't recall what drinks my fiance had, but he enjoyed them too.
