Checked in here a couple of years ago and decided to give this franchised Mexican restaurant a try. The staff was nice and we were given a basket of tortilla chips and salsa complimentarily, like most other restaurant of the same cuisine. We ordered the trio ceviche and fajitas for two. The ceviche portion was huge but was not that fresh though. The fajita portion was also huge and it was probably for four people instead. Taste-wise, it was alright. We have gone here several times. We love Mexican food and have always been happy with our food. We went again tonight and had a great dinner from the waitress to the live guacamole (we inhale it), then came my dinner. I had ordered the the cheese enchilada and beef enchilada. When I took a bite of the cheese one it had American cheese. It was disgusting. Was expecting a Mexican cheese mix not American cheese. I feel like it was a cheap way to make it and was very disappointed. I know I won't be ordering it again. read more

Solid 4 stars. Ate there for lunch with my daughter, had table side prepared guacamole, $3.99- a steal. Lunch portions were great and service was super friendly. Stale chips, terrible service. I wanted a naked chicken burrito bowl. Server told me that's from the lunch menu. I said that's OK, I would like a dinner menu burrito without the tortilla, in a bowl. She insisted - I told you, we are not serving lunch! I could see that what I wanted was on the menu, I just needed her to hold the tortilla - not sure why all the hostility. We ate here on a Sunday at 8:15pm. There was hardly anyone else here. I had the beef Chimichanga Burrito, and my husband had the chicken Enchilada Special. Our food was quick to arrive, but not so much with our silverware, which we had to ask for. My husband really liked his food. My food was pretty good. The beef was nice big pieces, but hardly seasoned, so pretty bland. The beans were quite good, but the rice was very basic. The biggest complaint is that after the food was dropped, we never saw our waitress again (actually, she's not even the one who brought out our food) until we were done eating and she brought our check. She didn't even ask if we wanted dessert. The whole time we were there, they were all too busy prepping to close, even though they don't close until 9:30, and we were done by 9. Their food is authentic and delicious. Service is quick and great & if there is anything ever missing they are good about replacing food. Tonight we heard a mariachi band which kept our little ones happy and content. The house margaritas were decent but not that strong. We think we finally found the deal of the menu. When we come we order fajitas for 2 which is 24.99. It is served with carne asada, chicken, shrimp, and carnitas along with tortillas, 2 sides of besns, rice,sour cream and cheese. The first time my food came out, it was the wrong order. I let the server know and within seconds the floor manager came to the table insisting that I was wrong. I explained to him that the order that came out was made with steak, not chicken or carnitas. I don't eat red meat. He still told me I was wrong. I had to go get a menu from the front to show him that my order doesn't even have a steak option. He STILL told ME I WAS WRONG. The second plate comes out with the right food, but tasted terrible. Then there was a HAIR in the food. Sent it back again, paid for my drink and left. I'm a regular customer of this place. But now I'll never be back after the way the manager spoke to me. read more

I have been here twice before and each time the service was slow though the food portions generous and tasty. On Sunday, I went with my two sons, two of the three dinners came out; my younger son had to wait 10 minutes for his meal because "something happened in the kitchen." 25 sep 2018 My wife had Burrito San Jose. It was good but the chicken needed salt. It was a little light on the cheese sauce, crema I think it was called. The chorizo and jalapeños added nice spice. My Enchilada Supreme was as expected, ok, but nothing to write home about (pun intended). The server was informative and attentive. We had not eaten here for at least six months due to a bad experience, but we wanted Mexican after a movie, and had a coupon, so we tried again, and we're glad we did. It was slow on Jan 1st so we were quickly seated. Server came over within a minute, and she was friendly. Chips and salsa were fairly decent, with the help of salt. We both ordered burritos from the lunch menu, and enjoyed the freshness of the food and ingredients. Sides of rice and beans were plentiful, and server checked back with us. Food was also hot when it arrived, because we hate tepid food and won't eat it. We noticed Manager was cleaning menus and counters instead of just standing around, and we always give kudos to working Managers. Good food and typically good service. This is my husband's and I go-to Mexican place as it is cheaper and better than South of the Border, in my experience. When we eat there, the food is always delicious and I leave feeling stuffed and happy. The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is there "to go" leaves something to be desired. Salsa is favorable; if it isn't hot enough ask for the hot stuff and they'll bring you back some green concoction that will teach you what the word 'back-bite' means! Chips could be fresher. My fiance and I have been here a few times. Food is usually great. Service is awful! We went last night at 8pm and were told a 20 minute wait. No big deal. Got a drink at the bar and were at our table for 10 minutes before our waitress came over with chips and salsa. We were ready to order, hence the menu closed sign, she dropped the chips off and walked away. She came back took our order and we asked for a side a quacamole. 5 minutes later they were trying to make tableside quacamole for us, which we didn't want. She finally came back around, we cleared her of her mistake and asked again for quacamole, she took my empty bottle of beer and didn't ask if I want another. Odd? Food finally came out and the quacamole (after asking 3 times for it). We had to ask her for water amd more drinks. The trip was about 75 minutes, which is fine if we weren't in a rush. Had the waitress with her huge gold hoops reading "SWAG" on them been more attentive and friendly we could've been out of there sooner. And she would have gotten a bigger tip. read more

We arrived at 5:00 PM so service wasn't a problem. My wife got Fajjitas Vallarta. Good quantity but slighty pricy. I got the Enchilatas Chipotle for $13. I got three lonely little enchiladas about one inch in diameter and four inches long. A little cheese sauce squirted on it and about a third of a cup of red rice. That was it! Rip off. Drinks were too expensive so we just got beer at $4 for a 12 oz bottle. We got the guacamole prepared table side. It was good. The prepairer had a little can on his cart for tips. That was lousy. At $8.00 with a $2.00 tip the cost was $10.00. Just send a bowl of it from the kitchen for less money. Don't go to these chain Mexican restaurants, go to small family run place. read more

I will start by saying I have visited this location multiple times before writing this review. I am not much into chain type Mexican restaurants as they mostly suck, but I do like Plaza. The food although not really authentic is quite tasty and I really enjoy the table side guacamole and the chicken chimichanga. The large mugs of beer are great but the mixed drinks have never been that great in my opinion. Prices are decent on food and it is a good time all around there. They have reduced the size of the chimichangas a bit which is a little upsetting. I would say it's a solid 3.5 stars. Doesn't deserve a 3 but also doesn't really deserve a 4 either. read more

I guess that the KOP location is a completely different owner, as the food was bland as can be and service was a bit crazy. My husband and I eat at the KOP location at least once a month, but thought we would try Exton for a change since we live pretty much equal distance to them both. We knew without looking what we wanted. First she wanted drinks, ok, no problem, I order the same thing every single time! Jumbo Raspberry Margarita with Cabo Wabo on the rocks with sugar. The waitress started to argue with me that not only had she never heard of Cabo Wabo, but that no way did they even carry it. Once I pointed out that it even says it on the menu, she was like, "what do you mean on the rocks? Like, frozen?" Ugh. She asked if I could just order off the menu... no, I can not. It's more expensive ordering top shelf tequila, I'm very well aware of this, but if it makes our bill more, and therefore she would hypothetically end up with a higher tip, why does she care? Anyway, husband ordered a Diet Coke, and I was hopeful the bartender would at least know what I wanted. We ordered table side guacamole as well. Well, it was super citrusy and very under flavored for the rest of it. My fajitas were very average. And they offered no lettuce or tomatoes which is unusual. Husband had shrimp tacos, he said they were good (but not great). The waitress was making us VERY uncomfortable the entire time, like we were a nuisance to her, and checked on us pretty much every 5 minutes. She didn't offer to refill our waters at all, even though they were empty within the first 15 minutes, but she just wouldn't leave us alone. Granted, we had a super early dinner on a Wednesday evening, but there were plenty of other people to tend to. I dislike having to write negative reviews, but the whole thing pretty much sucked. Love this place. The Exton / Downingtown go-to for Mexican. Seating is always fairly quick, except for maybe 6:00 PM on Fridays and Saturdays. Salsa and freshly-made tortilla chips while you wait, and unusually quickly delivered entrees. I've stayed with the enchiladas, burritos, and quesadillas for the most part, but have yet to be disappointed. Some items could stand a little more heat (spice) but they are catering to the suburban masses here, so the average spiciness is understandable. I moved into the area in November 2019. I took my family and 2 year old grandchild to dinner there in December. I ordered the fajitas, which come out sizzling hot. The waiter accidently dumped it on my lap. I could still hear it sizzling. Luckily, I was wearing long pants and didn't blister- just red and raw. The manager came up, apologized and said my dinner was free. I sat there seething with anger and the same waiter came out(as my family finished) and came at me with the sizzling platter at the same tilt and I was scared. I refused it. That was it. No more contact from the manager. When the bill came, I noticed one of the 6 meals had been taken off the bill. We were sooooo lucky the two year old didn't get any on her. I paid the bill in wet pants and we left. Noone ever checked with me to see about my well-being except for the initial apology. I could have had boils in my legs and they didn't care. Even worse, I contacted the corporate office and they ignored me. If you eat there, be careful. Do not take a child in there because you never know. I observed the waiter serve others with a similar tilt. I doubt I am the only one this happened to. read more

Go for their guacamole. It is amazing! Custom done at the table. They start by scooping the avacado from the shell and add lime onion tomatoes cilantro to taste. It is so fresh and worth the trip for that. Seafood entrées are pretty good. Their wines are not the best. Stay away from their Malbec at all costs. I might stick with appetizers next time. read more
