Acquaintance loves the Kennett Square store, so I thot I'd make my first to nearby Exton franchise. From the menu I chose combo fajitas, chicken & beef. Complimentary chips and salsa were tasty and plentiful. Service was brisk and pleasant without being overbearing. Food arrived promptly and was very fresh and plentiful. Sides of refrieds, sour cream, rice, and salsa were also plentiful and in a nice balance to rest of meal. I perhaps could have used more than the three tortillas but then I simply would not have had room to eat all of the sides. I ate every bit and was completely satisfied. Interior is typical franchise but that's fine; music was a little loud: I noticed nearby tables had to raise their voices to converse. Eating area and restroom appeared to be clean. After a wholesome day of apple picking today, we went to Plaza Azteca. This was a legendary night of dining. Authentic, magical guacamole watered my mouth and made my friends smile with joy. The waiter was so incredibly kind and joyful. He wandered in my mind and provided me comforting feels. Through the journey and over the bridge of delight, we had our meals- the main event. Quesadillas, burritos, enchiladas, and other meals surrounded our hearts. Even though the Queen has recently passed, May she Rest In Peace, we paid our respects through this delightful dinner. This restaurant is absolutely perfect. As the Queen once stated, "People are touched by events which have their roots far across the world" (Hurtado, 2022). My boyfriend and I ordered takeout from DoorDash last night (12/5/20) and we were extremely disappointed with what we got. First, my boyfriend ordered the chimichanga, which were just plan soft tortillas with meat inside. If you google the definition of chimichanga, it's a "deep-fried burrito," so that was wrong. Second, I ordered the queso fundido, defined as "melted cheese." And when I went to go reheat it from the delivery, I realized I got just a container of chorizo, no cheese at all. 2 weeks ago, my husband and I came here and both of us would've given it a 5 star rating. Today, we came here hoping to get the burrito vegano and come to find out they've changed their menu and they removed the one thing I look forward to eating when I come here. I can't go very many places where both my husband and I can select things from the menu accommodating both of our diets and we were happy to be able to both enjoy this place. Wow. This was not what I was expecting. As soon as you walk in you get sucked into the culture, music and mood. It felt comfortable. The staff was pretty cheery and lively. But the food is what really got me. I split a burrito and a chicken entree with rice, beans, the usual. Not only did it look incredible but the flavors were all there. We have ordered several times and every time our order has either had something missing or not as we ordered. This last time, the waitress/hostess would not let me check the bags with her. She checked them at a distant table, handed them to me and said everything's there. Well.....it wasn't.....we were short an entire entree. She kept stating that it was made as ordered, so I just placed as n additional order and then was told it would be another 15 minutes. The food is very good! First time dining here and was very impressed. Granted it wasn't crowded but also it was a Wednesday night. The food is phenomenal. I have always gone to their KOP location and always get the spinach and chicken enchilada. I got it at this location this evening and was impressed with the quantity which definitely is more thank what I get at KOP. The chicken was very tasty and they were very generous with the servings. The fajitas lunch special here is a large serving and always great. They use to have a better lunch special menu and cheaper. I don't know exactly when they changed it. Plaza Aztecs is a great Mexican restaurant that is well deserving of a five star rating. The portions are HUGE and the prices are great for the amount of food you get. The chips and salsa are some of the best out of any Mexican restaurant in Pennsylvania, and there is a huge selection of meals to pick from. Seating and wait time is almost never a problem, and I've been here at the emptiest and busiest times (which means, I've been here a lot). I've been a fan of this restaurant in the past, and I have a personal commitment to support restaurants that pursue Mexican cuisine. But a return visit to Plaza Azteca Exton this past weekend was an utter disaster. The food was good enough, and our party of 7 much enjoyed a good meal in celebration of the pending return of a family member to his native South America. But near the conclusion of our visit, matters went badly awry. We discovered that the floor between the dining area and restrooms was quite slick with some oily substance. I managed to avoid a fall, but my long suffering wife was not so fortunate. She took a rather bad spill. But it got worse. During a visit to the restroom I watched in shock as one of the liveried staff flushed the toilet, exited the stall and left the bathroom -- without stopping to wash his hands. Such things shatter confidence. I really doubt we'll return. But they're such simple problems to avoid. I posted this message privately to the restaurant's Facebook page, but received no reply. And so I must post it to this more public forum. Your restaurant has promise. Please don't continue to betray it with poor attention to safety and hygiene. Train your staff properly and be vigilant. Be respectful of your clientele and you may yet prosper. read more

No service. It is worse than bad service. We decided to check out the new Plaza Azteca that has come up where good old Applebee's was in this area. Nice greeting by the hostess as we requested a table outside on the patio. It was a great Summer night and we enjoyed our conversation as we waited for our server to show up. And waited. And waited some more. For about 15 minutes we observed servers and other hostesses being very social among themselves and exchanging pleasantries. It seemed we were just the uninvited guests at the great party they were having. Probably deserved to wait until some one deigned to notice the plebs in the corner. At the 20 min mark, I went to the hostess at the door and explained that we had been waiting far too long and would like to just walk away from our table. She had a nervous, "thanks for coming" for us, as we went to the Applebees in Lionville. Had a great evening at Applebee's. Not sure if we want to come back to the Plaza Azteca ever. read more

This place recently opened up at the old Applebee's location near the junction of Whitford Road and Route 30. On a whim my friend and I got takeout to try the "new place." The staff was friendly and helpful. The décor had completely changed and I really enjoyed the modern Mexican music. But to me, that does not a good review make. The food was very good. The Cheese dip and chips were delicious. It looked deceptively plain, but the chips were thick and flavorful; the cheese was a unique blend that was very delicious. I ordered a combo plate with Enchilada, taco and chile relleno (I think - I cannot find this on their takeout menu, but I ordered it off the in-store menu). The dish also came with delicious fluffy rice; and I am a rice snob. The Enchilada and sauce were delicious. The chile relleno had a delicious thick batter. Nothing was too spicy, which is the way I like it, although I imagine they can make it spicy if need be. My friend ordered the mushroom quesadillas, which I eyed throughout our meal, but before I could segue into begging for a bit, it was all gone. Guess that means it was really good. This seems to be a new location on Rt. 30. Either they moved or opened a new site. The waiter said they had been here for six weeks. In any case I won't be going back. I dropped in for a quick lunch on my way back to DC from a business meeting. The good: clean, fast, cheap. The food was hot. The bad: The food was just ok, nothing great, certainly better than TacoBell but only marginally. I had the taco lunch ($10) and ordered a side of guacamole. The tacos had beef, lettuce, and cheese. There was no tomato and no sour cream. The beans were out of a can. The rice was nothing special. The guacamole was decent but had no pieces of avocado. The chips were cold and came from a bag. As with so many restaurants, the Coke was oversized and overpriced. I don't need 64oz of Coke and I don't want to pay $2 for it. I didn't ask and didn't get any water. The odd: The waiter seemed new so I'll cut him some slack for any service mishaps, but at the end of the meal I paid for my $14.29 lunch with a $20 and he asked me if I wanted change. Umm, yea I don't think I'm leaving you a $6 tip. Then he was unable to make change and gave me $5. When I asked for the change, he gave me another $1. I still left a tip but I tried to understand what was up with the money exchange. Oh well. ymmv. I've no idea about the drinks or dinner. This is my new favorite restaurant. The service and food are excellent. The staff is very friendly. I love the guacamole made table side. The Enchilada San Jose is awesome! You have to have the fried ice cream for dessert. The margarita's a a little heavy handed with the tequila, but still yummy. Don't waste your money. Pretty place, good location. POORLY trained staff. You can never expect too much with most Tex-Mex places, and this is no exception. However, in the future I'll drive a half mile further up the road to On the Border for generic Mexican. Gave this place a chance and it definitely wasn't worth it. The problem started with a waitress who seemingly barely understood English and didn't verbalize at all, so I don't think she spoke English either. This became more evident when we had to ask twice for SILVERWARE AND NAPKINS. When the food arrived it was beyond underwhelming and cool to the touch. Of course the plates themselves were burning hot, but the food was already lukewarm. How's that happen? Don't waste $12 on the ceviche. What was I thinking? Tasteless, extremely small portion, rubbery seafood that was full of water - thawed. Gross. Entrees, had they been hot, would've been edible. Both entrees had the wrong sauces, and were missing sides and extras. Portions were large, however. There was NO flavor. No nuance, no spice, no heat, no seasoning. All in all the food is on par with your basic frozen Mexican dinner. And the drinks were weak. The end. read more

I'm a very picky eater, but I love mexican food. Plaza azteca is great. First, their happy hour is great. $2.50 draft beers, $5.00 appetizers and $5.00 margaritas. Dosequis amber is one of my favs. Very good prices. They bring you a complimentary chips and salsa, which is great and saves money. The chicken chimichangas are great. The cheese and sour cream sauce is really good. The service has always been great as well. If me and my fiance want to go out and don't want to spend a lot of money we come here. Went there last Friday sat at the bar ordered fajitas and wings. Wings came out warm at best, fajitas were cold did I forget to mention we didn't receive utensils or plates. Sent fajitas back did come back hot and pleased to say after requesting utensils and plates we didn't have to eat with our hand or off the bar top.
