The food was NOT good. I tried 3 things and just didn't enjoy. I don't understand the good reviews. I have eaten all over the country. The worst was the service. No one was here so we asked if they would turn the TV off. He has a fit. But no one was here. We had little kids. And the show was inappropriate. Place looks fine. Food was good and fresh. Beware of the red sauce, it's spicy spicy. Appreciated that the rice was authentic Mexican rice. I tried Taco Mar across the street and their Mexican rice tastes like white rice with sazon so stick with El Limon if you're looking for an authentic taste. Also liked that the shrimp quesadilla came with toppings. Cheese and shrimp just aren't good without some additional flavor. read more

I've experienced very friendly service each time I've stopped in! No major complaints about the food, it's legitimate Mexican and offers good potion sizes. Their fajita vegetables are really flavorful, and all the different meats I e I personally prefer Plaza Azteca's burritos but it's a of a drive for me. Honestly... not a huge fan. Was super unimpressed & disappointed when I showed up here. It's great for a hole in the wall place that doesn't offer free chips & salsa & definitely no cheese dip or anything really similar. It appears very small, intimate & family owned. I love Mexican type restaurants & here just ordered some soft tacos- which were very basic & would have tasted better had I made them at home from a taco box kit. Maybe we missed the mark on what to order but there wasn't much guidance from staff on that or anything that really even caught my eye on the menu. read more

I had ground beef soft tacos on flour tortillas. It was very authentic and very good.

We've tried this place five times as of today, including two dine-in visits and one delivery order for 15 people. In a word, it's spectacular. The tomatillo sauce is rich in flavor, they offer a very nice mole sauce as an alternative, and the carnitas are especially good--not at all greasy as one usually encounters. The Al pastor is also quite good. A special surprise are the tamales in pork or chicken. They're often made of fairly coarse flour at restaurants in this area, but El Limon's are exceptional. There's another El Limon in Malvern, but I can't visit. I won't even do delivery from there. It's connected to a market that's stocked with some kind of detergent product that I'm extremely allergic to. With the Downingtown location that's not a problem. Great restaurant, the best Mexican food in the area IMHO, reasonably priced, with outstanding service. read more

Ordered takeout from here a few weeks ago on a Saturday night. Lots of takeout fleeing out the door while there was one set of outdoor diners. Food here was very good and I would order from here again but somehow I remember the food from the Malvern location a few years ago being somewhat better. I usually end up with enchiladas- Other dining partners with soft tacos and quesadillas. Nothing unexpected on the menu. I would warn anyone ordering from here that the storefront is not visible from Lancaster Ave. it shares the location with Rita's water ice. I couldn't be happier with my dining experience at El Limon. The menu has a wide variety of apps, entrees, sides, drinks and desserts with clear descriptions, and even some photos. The prices are extremely fair for the portions served. The ingredients were fresh and the tacos were authentic. Our server, Chase, was kind, welcoming, knowledgeable, efficient and provided exceptional service. He even remembered my parents from their previous trip here, and gave our roses to all the mothers on Mother's Day!! Hard pass on this site. The server kept trying to hustle us out of the restaurant. From trying to take our plates when we were still eating to bringing the check after she brought out the food, this was overall a bad experience. The Malvern spot blows this one out of the water. Very telling also that corporate did not even respond to our comments. This small mid managed spot probably won't be here too long, especially when there are nicer and better managed options close by. Shame. read more

Certainly not El limon Malvern! Mole sauce was still awesome, but the rest was very weak. Enchiladas very low on Al Pastor. So cold when it came out had to send back to microwave. Still barely hot when came out. Disappointed because El Limon in Malvern so damned good. Next time there or just head to Kennett. They won't see me here ever again. read more
