Food and service were excellent. Went to celebrate a birthday and it was so much fun.

Went with a group of friends and suggested Plaza Azteca since other locations I've visited were solid. This one completely dropped the ball. They tried to cram our group of six into a four‑top--even though the place was practically empty. After pushing back, we got a proper table. Drinks came out, and I'm convinced the margaritas were mostly mixer with a splash of disappointment. The table‑side guac was the only bright spot. Then my Enchiladas Banderas arrived--absolutely flavorless. It tasted more like a microwaved Stouffer's entrée than anything freshly made. No one at the table liked their Restaurant Depot food. Very good service same ambience as I can remember. Everything was good but nothing really stood out. I always get the seafood chimichangas. I probably had them over 25 times and they were just as good lukewarm at best though, but the flavors were still there. She got the chicken quesadilla one beef one chicken. They were also lukewarm if you come here and get some alcoholic beverages you can pump out at least $100 at this place definitely good food for nachos in the lake four out of five could give him 3 1/2 out of five for the lukewarm food but this place holds a special spot in my heart. It's a shame because I feel like they're getting more towards commercial and ready to eat product. I swear they used to have Horchata here and the cheese sauce. I didn't see on the menu anymore either so a few things are changing, but I would definitely come back in a pinch. read more

I'm really unclear why the reviews here are so poor... My daughter and I stopped in for a late lunch on New Years Eve and were greeted by friendly staff and a very cute Christmas tree decorated with taco piñatas. The menu is a bit overwhelming to see until you realize that it's the same dozen or so options, all served in different forms. The waiter brought us chips and salsa to start and they were both good. We ordered a 4 pack of Empanadas, two chicken, two beef, I got the Birria Tacos, and my daughter got the Quesadilla Ranchera with Steak. I figured we were over ordering a bit, but didn't realize how much until a bit later... The empanadas showed up about 60 seconds before the rest of the food which normally wouldn't be ideal but it's not a deal breaker as we were starving and if they had shown up earlier we'd have been tempted to eat all four and then wouldn't have had room for the next course. The portions here are MASSIVE. I managed to get through all three of my very stuffed tacos, but my daughter's quesadilla looked like it was made on 12" tortillas and I'd guess there was a half pound of meat inside. She's 9 and it's more than she could have eaten in 3 sittings, even without the empanadas to start. In the end, the only question that matters is "would you come back?" and both of us were a resounding "yes". read more

1st time here. I got the Enchilada El Jeffe. 3 enchiladas with Carne Asadi. Very very good, filling, flavorful too. Also got 2 Regular tacos, taco Tuesday,,,$1.50 per. Wife got combo 5.1 chicken taco, 1 beef taco and tostida. Both came with Mexican rice. Strawberry Daiquiri was humongous. Even had a Orchid in it. Saul was a great server. This is not my first go around with Plaza Azteca but it is my first time at this location. First the amazing aroma as you walk in greeted further by the Halloween and day of the dead decorations. It was busy for a Monday, staff very polite and efficient. We ordered a steak burrito, which was eaten within 10 minutes, the 3 different types of enchiladas, with rice and beans, and the combo #5 which includes 1 of a few different things. Large portions, so leftovers. Delicious food all around, the quesadilla was a bit too salty but otherwise amazing. I ordered the dinner size chicken fajitas here. The pleasant young Hispanic waiter, greeted me politely bringing out a big bowl of tortilla chips. These were not the cheap ass over-salted Chipotle chips. These were premium tasty very light salt and somewhat sweet tasting. Also the waiter bought out an excellent salsa he said they make it in the restaurant. The fajitas were very good Plenty of meat and vegetables generous portions even for today's prices. Napkins plenty of them on the table. Nice big booth plenty of room. Soft Spanish music loud enough to hear, but soft enough to hear the person you're speaking to. Candles and pleasant decorations all over. Bathrooms were clean. Great job guys. I will return. So glad to finally give a good review! read more

I placed an order online Saturday for my family.  Order #0011... to be ready at 7:10. I arrived at 7:30 to give enough time,  since Saturday is busy. The hostess looked up my order,  went to the kitchen,  came back and said "it'll be ready in 5 minutes." When I asked what happened,  she said "give me a second" and turned to walk away.  A second host jumped in,  said "give her a second",  and he walked away. When my order hadn't arrived 10 minutes later,  I again asked the second host what was going on and why the delay.  He asked "well were you here at 710?" When I said no,  he said "I have no idea" and disappeared again. 5 minutes later,  when the food finally came out,  I again asked the original hostess what had happened.  She again said "Give me a second". I went to an empty table to check my order, and before leaving asked a 5th time what had happened.  After she again said "Give me a second" I told her I had asked 5 times,  and left. It's bad enough that the order was over 30 minutes late (from the time that YOU provided)... but I was insulted by the obvious apathy of your staff.  It wasn't extremely busy...if I see a restaurant with employees running around like crazy,  I'm very understanding. Service has been getting continuously slower and worse, and their solution was to change their menu and raise prices? Sorry no, you got rid of some of our favorites and increased the price of all our other favs by at least $2 each. The food is still good, but not quite worth the extra increase especially with the slower service. read more

First, the stairs in the restaurant do not comply with ADA ("The handrail must be at a consistent height with the top of the gripping surface between 34 to 38 inches above the walking surface, stair, or ramp."). I note this because my mom fell going up the stairs because there was no railing. There was a sign for Taco Tuesday - Tacos for $1.50 so we thought "Sure, let's give it a try." Plaza Azteca has a great variety of Mexican food options including burritos, fajitas, enchiladas, quesadillas, and more! Free chips are given before the meal and the food comes out quite quickly. It is on the pricier side (compared to like Chipotle) but is worth it. Would highly recommended! read more

Went to this location today, it has gone down hill to say the least. I have never experienced such bad service, Felipe was our server he gave us a half ass greet and was not very friendly. I ordered a fajita that had shrimp, chicken and steak the steak was very tough the fajita itself had no seasoning, the rice was not cooked thoroughly the beans barely looked edible. The only highlight was the margarita. Its such a shame this place used to be our favorite. read more

My boyfriend and I frequent the KSQ Plaza Azteca so we were excited to find one in Exton as well. We came on a Monday night which was coincidentally MARGARITA MONDAY. $5 off margs. So I had to get one of course! I ordered the classic margarita frozen to start and it was amazing! The flavor was great and the serving size was large. I went with my favorite and got the enchiladas vegetarianas. Sooo good. My favorite enchiladas I've ever had are from Plaza Azteca. They have a section of vegetarian and vegan options on the menu, which is a nice touch since this is rare for Mexican restaurants. Overall, the service was great, food was great, drinks were great, etc, etc. I will continue to look forward to my visits to Plaza Azteca! read more

Our favorite Mexican food spot in Coatesville was closed for renovations tonight, so we decided to venture out a few miles east to Plaza Azteca. The cleanliness, the service and the food were all good to excellent. No complaints there whatsoever. The pitcher of Patron margaritas, which was not marked in the menu, was a whopping $65 on the bill! The total for the two of us came to $120, which is close to double from our usual spot. Last time. This place has been going downhill for the last two years. While the food is good it takes forever to order if you sit at the bar. The bartender was so inattentive and incredibly bad. Waited fifteen minutes for him to get back behind the bar when we arrived. He took drink order and we asked to order food. He had is wait am we had to remind him to please take our order ten minutes later as he was washing glasses and bouncing all over the place There were only four other couples at the bar. The couple next to us came in before us. Had basically same thing as us to eat. They got their check when we also asked for ours but did not receive. The bartender gave check and he waited to cash them out. We asked again for ours. He gave it and instead of taking our credit card and cashing us out he disappeared. For over ten minutes. We finally flagged someone down to take our bill and cash us out so we could leave. It's not cheap there and the salsa is definitely not house made, it tasted of tin. Just a bad experience. And the last time we will go there with so many other good Mexican restaurants on the area. read more

As a Mexican-American, I'm always on the lookout for good Mexican food. I saw Plaza Azteca's ads at my gym so I thought I should check it out. I was disappointed.... I ordered Horchata, a staple drink at any Mexican restaurant, only to be told they didn't have any. So I got a carne asada quesadilla with rice and beans to play it safe. And it wasn't a quesadilla but an enchilada. Quesadillas are suppose to have the cheese in the inside; not as a cheese sauce poured over a tortillla. It is with a heavy heart I must announce what had been one of our go-to options for tasty and authentic mexican food - Plaza Azteca in Exton, has declined and is now firmly seated in the two-arena, and as I sit here waiting for my food anticipate adjusting the rating further downward. It's not that I didn't enjoy the diet coke shower, being crammed into a booth with minimal breathing room, the generous (sarcasm) small bowl of tortillas and salsa, or the blaring tuba (yes tuba) - but the new menu prices are insane! What had been a modest value have been inflated nearly 80%.....it's beans and rice guys. I'm tired and believe in allowing a little room for humility, so i'll just end by saying "It'll be fun to try the new restaurant that takes this space when this one fails" read more

Food great BUT restaurant was dishonest in their billing. Let me explain. I ordered two Fajita Taco Salads which included Pico De Gallo and Sour Cream. I asked for the Pico De Gallo on the side. When I received the salads there was not Sour Cream in the salad (pretty dry!). I asked the waiter for the sour cream ask there was none in the salad. (I verified the menu said sour cream was part of the salad.). The bill arrived and there was a charge for the sour cream. I called this to the water's attention and he pulls a corrected bill out of his pocket. I guess he wanted to see if I caught it. VERY DISHONEST.
