Stopped here for some seafood recently after driving by many times since my not-so-great experience at the Media location years ago. Options here are many more - frozen, heat-and-eat, and fresh. The item I purchased was very fresh but I was overcharged by 25%. I noticed it immediately and was provided a refund but their affect (server and manager) was so unapologetic to the point that I questioned if this was not an unusual occurrence. Responsive; they really LISTEN to your order and plan to get it done right. If you are a reasonable customer, they try just as hard to be reasonable! But, they never act like they expect the customer to do anything beyond a pleasant "thank you!" One year, we decided to have the seafood celebration we couldn't afford as kids. Ordered 4 large lobsters a few days before I needed them. Walked in, the person grabbed them right out of the tank, and they were the largest, best looking lobsters I've seen. Very courteous staff, got exactly what I needed. I'll be back for more things. read more

I have been buying their crab cakes for a many years now, The crab cakes are outstanding. When I serve them every Thanksgiving and Christmas I get rave reviews. I always tell my guests to go to Hills. I highly recommend Hills seafood store. The food is excellent and the staff is very friendly and helpful. The atmosphere is very pleasant. Way easier to pull in and out of than the Newtown Square location. Everything at Hill's is top notch, which especially contrasts the Philadelphia region's typical seafood fare. They gladly cracked our stone crab claws for us, which is service that we appreciate. We really enjoy the whitefish salad, and we are spoiled with Martha's Vineyard seafood markets during the summer. Do yourself a favor and grab some extra bisque for later, and some fresh Liscio's bread. read more

The staff in Newtown Square location are much nicer. This little snitch of a Young Man had the gall to tell me, "I'm busy!", when I wanted to ask him a simple question. This is unacceptable nonsense! Excuse me but the last time I checked, I'm a customer and I had a question! They make you stand in line with everyone else just to purchase soup from the refrigerated section. Other people were ordering from the case. NEVER again! That young man should be fired! read more

This place has everything you can possibly imagine seafood and fish. The employees are very knowledgeable and can direct you on different flavors and ways to cook things. The prices are typical. I highly recommend a visit here. I purchased their crab dip and that was phenomenal with chips. I also purchased a garbanzo bean squid salad already ready to eat also incredibly delicious. read more

If you like seafood you need to go here! Very clean beautiful store full of every sort of fish and shellfish. They have some prepared food as well. The lobster bisque was scrumptious. I picked up a seafood pot pie which I have not tried yet but I'm sure it will be good. Everything looks very fresh and the staff are extremely accommodating. read more

I was a little hesitant to stop in during the pandemic, but I'm so glad I did. They took my order over the phone, got it ready quickly (I called from down the street) and they brought it to my car upon arrival. A 5 star quality store for the best fresh fish and shellfish! Just bought their lobster roll kit. Enough for 3 lobster rolls. I did saute the rolls in butter to get a more Nova Scotia experience! Bought 3 King Crab legs - absolutely amazing flavor! Such a wonderful treat! The King Crab Legs are the best on the East Coast! My wife called in an order for oyster. Arrived at the specific time given by their staff. When I arrived to pick up the order i was told they were busy and hadn't gotten to my order yet and asked if I would mind waiting a few min. After another 10 min passes another staff members tells me the best they can do is to have me come back the following day! WTF. I guess hey haven't figured out what customer service is. The place where I get Excellent fresh fish. This is my all time favorite place to buy raw fish. They have good customer service. Just that they close very early. I wish they were open until 9.00pm I would definitely recommend this place to everyone. read more

Going to Hill's is always an experience. You never have to wonder if the fish is fresh or where it's from. And Dave knew every detail and cooking instruction from Sockeye to Snails! The Sea Scallops we're flying off the ice on this first day of LENT. I grabbed a few wrapped in bacon, too! Can't wait until next Friday when I'm back to try something new! read more

If no one else (including the supermarkets) has what I need, I'll go here. Otherwise, the few times I've been to any of these establishments, I'm dissatisfied as to either the service and or the inflated prices of "so so" quality seafood. The only reason I gave them 3 stars is because I've never purchased any bad seafood or anything that's made anyone ill so I must give them some credit. Fare well! read more

I rarely if ever write a bad review but this place deserves one. As a tradition in the family we usually have lobsters for Father's Day. I called a week before this Father's Day and reserved six 4-5 lb lobsters. I also asked to have the lobster's steamed and ready for about 2:30 on Father's Day and that I would call early Sunday morning to confirm. On Saturday before Father's Day I received a call from Hills wanting my credit card information or they would sell the lobsters to others. That had never happened before but Okay. They then informed me that they would be cooking the lobsters in the morning and placing them on ice. I asked to have them warm and could they steam later in the day. The same store had done this for me the year before. For staffing issues they could not and then asked arrogantly if I still want them. A bit too late for me to say no. When I complained, they said I had been told and it was also on the slip that the lobsters would be cold. How could I have gotten a slip when I called in the order. A clear lie. How's the old saying go: how many Hill's employee does it take to steam lobsters? ....the answer is none! It sounded like a person needed to be constantly watching the lobster's steam! On Sunday I drive up to pick up the lobster's still steaming from Saturday's interaction. I was greeted by a young man who says 'Hey Dude', only thing worse might have been 'Hey Bro'. Why can't they greet someone with more politeness. 'How can I help you?' would have been just fine. Anyway, picked the cold lobsters and warmed them but when we started eating them we all noticed a tremendous amount of water and the meat was mushy as it appeared undercooked. Did they steam or boiled them? Regardless, it was for an insufficient amount of time. I spent a lot of money to be treated arrogantly, lied to and then get poorly cooked lobsters. Very disappointed with the Little Neck Steamer clams. Clams had fine sand in them. This was the second purchase within the last 6 months for these clams and both times it was the same issue. Don't buy these, you will be dissatisfied. The Neptune salad was awesome, but the salmon filets I bought never made it to my bag. I even asked if they remembered the salmon and the employee looked in the bag and said yes. Fortunately for me I wasn't charged for it and after I got home and realized dinner wasn't going to include the salmon I recalled the same thing happened to me the last time I was there...again within the last 6 mths. I'm done with this Exton store. Wegmans has my seafood business when I'm the chef for the evening. read more

My rating is a zero. The people who work here are the rudest I have ever encountered. I was driving from Aston, PA to Exton, PA (Approx. a 40 min. drive) just to go to this Hills Seafood for my sisters birthday. My parents are gone so her birthday plans were left to me. All she wanted was crabs. I called this hills at 6:40 and the phone call probably lasted a minute or two. The manager picked up and I explained that it would probably take me another 20 minutes to get there. He told me that was fine and he would see me soon. I show up at 7:02 and the doors are locked and they refused to even look at me standing outside the door. I called and they explained that they close at 7. These A**holes couldn't have told me that they were about to close before I went 40 minutes out of my way?? So I went to Wegmans and ended up getting BETTER crabs for A LOT LESS. Wegmans crabs were cooked perfectly and were ALOT cheaper. Take it from me, if you want big, delicious, cheap crabs around here, go to Wegmans. I will never enter a Hill's Seafood again. read more

My friends and I were having a dinner party at my house and many of the items on the menu were seafood. I recently moved to the area and was looking for a quality seafood and meat market. I remember a Hill's near my former residence in Newtown Square and never had good experiences there. I came one saturday morning and the staff were all super super nice and offered a lot of suggestions on regular offerings and specials. the seafood was all very fresh as expected and the prices in my opinion were fairly reasonable. as we were there, a few customers came in and left and the staff were equally friendly to them. it appeared there were a lot of regulars too. We left and came an hour later because we didn't buy enough seafood. the lady that initially helped us wasn't there but the gentleman was equally friendly and helpful. i will definitely be coming here more often! 5 stars for an awesome and friendly business! read more

Hill's in Exton has always been a quality, convenient go to. So much that I have their number programmed in my phone. Never any issues, great and fresh! I recently tried a new item and forgot to get the instructions upon purchase (have always appreciated this provided service), so I called driving home from work, safely, hands free. I asked about the cook time/temp and an employee (Stephen/Steven) happily gave me the information. However, unknowingly to him, our call didn't disconnect afterwards...and I heard him and another employee have a short conversation regarding my audacity to call when I could have Googled the information. Google is a great thing, but so is providing good customer service. Oh, how dare I call. You never know what the situation is on the other end of the phone, so no need to assume. While providing wonderful tasting seafood, you have left a bad taste in my mouth with snarky customer service. Technology of blue tooth and the internet has prooved to be informative and useful tonight, even if I didn't Google a single thing! read more
