The restaurant is clean and rather large and can accommodate a lot of people when it's busy. The service seemed good but not over friendly if you know what I mean. Osvaldo was cordial enough. Ordered the Elote as appetizer and I liked that the corn cob was cut into three pieces with a wood holder for each one that made it easier to eat. Very good. Had the Chimichanga Texana style with steak. It was good and the meat was tender but something was missing. The chips and sauce were also off. Chips needed seasoning or, at least, salt And the salsa needed heat. They did bring me a hotter sauce that I mixed it with salsa and the rice/beans. Much better. read more

I've been twice and both times their blender has been broken so no frozen margaritas....come on! Boo!! Second time going the portions were smaller and the mahi mahi dish that was advertised to come with scallops did not have said scallops. I highly recommend the tableside guacamole, it's some of the best I've had in a long time. The place was very busy, so there may be about a 10 minute wait, but it's definitely worth it. I don't eat a lot of carbs, so skipped the refried beans & rice (which universally are "bland" & full of empty calories!). I judge every "Mexican restaurant" by their Chile Rellenos--& mine was excellent! The sauce was a bit more tomatoey than expected--almost like a marinara, so the seasoning could be improved in that regard, but it was a wonderful relleno, possibly one of the best I've had in several states! My husband and I came here for lunch on Valentine's Day. I liked the outdoor atmosphere of the restaurant, and how the bar shelving looked like stacked creates. My husband got a beef and chicken burrito with beans and rice. It was ok. The beens were a bit salty and over seasoned. I got the Oaxaca Bow with Birria. The moment you walk in to Plaza Azteca, you are hit with atmosphere and life. The decorations on the wall fill one's soul with culture, and immediately makes you want to order a $15 marg. I ordered quesabirria. Note that I have a high standard of this dish. Of the 15 failed quesabirria dishes I have ordered recently, this was the ONE. I could tell it was the one for me, when it was presented to me at the table. Perfectly crisp on the outer edge, with juicy and soft beef waiting to be savored. There was consommé too. Nothing else either, no bs rice. No need for beans. I got exactly what I ordered, no strings attached. The first bite led to a tingling in my feet. My stomach hungered for not only what was on the plate, but one, no two! No three more! I could eat this birria for the rest of my life, and I would be satisfied. The server was a kind man. Jolly is the word I would use to describe him. I have been to nearly every Mexican restaurant in this town. We have been waiting for this place to open and surprisingly, on only their second day of operation, everything was amazing. We had excellent service at the bar by Omar. He was very friendly (and had given us a menu to take home the day previously)! Our drinks, a Cantarito (the best I've ever had) and a margarita were made with freshly squeezed juice. We ordered Baja style mahi-mahi fish tacos and shrimp fajitas. Great portions and the food was absolutely delicious. So excited to have a new favorite spot to have lunch or dinner with friends.
