My experience was outstanding. Visting Bozeman/ Yellowstone with my family of 10. I booked 2 months ahead and man this the real experience. The food was authentic plentIful with delicious flavor. They have wide choices on the menu and the staff goes above and beyond. We loved the decor and the atmosphere so authentic. My niece turned 8 and I was able to bring a cake with permission. I heard good things about this place so on my trip to Bozeman I went to find out. Service was good but that was about it. Salsa and chips were fair. I always order fajitas in Mexican restaurants but this time I deviated and ordered chili replenish. The beans and rice were good but that's it. We had them provide food for a collage grad party, they are extremely helpful with, seriously, over the top service. They provided the warming dishes to keep our food hot for the entire grad party. We came here before going out dancing! I was in the mood for Mexican food and saw the birria tacos on their Yelp and had to go. The inside is small and quaint and they also sell Mexican candy and jewelry. It's like a little shop by the cash register. The chips and salsa were good but they do not refill you chips. The salsa was pretty spicy but I liked the flavor and it was more on the picante side. I ordered the birria tacos and a side of rice. The place was super authentic but the rice was definitely a disappointment. It reminded me more of a fried Asian rice and did not have the seasoning Mexican flavor. The birria tacos however were phenomenal. The tortillas were thick and crumbly and the meat was so tender and shredded. Loved the service and the decor and sitting is very nice. And the food was fantastic!!! Their style for the sauces and most recipes are from the area of Veracruz Mexico. Much different than what I had before but really delicious. Portions are really good. Presentation is excellent and it's just delicious food. We had the Mixed Fajita platter, Mixed Tostada Platter and Carnitas Taco Platter. Very enjoyable! Oh, one last thing! They sell Pepsi products, but also have Mexican Coca Cola in the bottles. Was going to Roosters but I just wings this week and in the same parking lot I'd Los Jarochos. Mexican food? Oh why not When you walk in you get a small Mexican-store feel to it. Candies, trinkets, and other goodies you'd find in Mexico. A saving grace, for me anyway, was Mexican bottled Coke! Ordered 3 "street" carne asada tacos with cheese, cilantro and onion. Very unusual in that they packed the tortillas with thick chunks of beef. They have a cream-like green and red sauce to add to the meat as it lacked the seasoning I would have expected. While the sauces helped, there was little heat that I like. I tried the Strawberry Flan which was like a cake with the flan being the topping. It was very delicious. Authentic Mexican food, however you'll have to get your margaritas elsewhere because this place does not serve alcohol. The table chips and salsa were good, with two additional sauces to choose from if you want more heat. The traditional rice and beans were just ok, with the rice being a little dry and the beans being whole instead of refried. The salad that came with my meal didn't have any type of dressing, so that too was dry. I'm a big fan of Mexican food, but was a bit underwhelmed. Coming from Texas I didn't not have high expectations for this restaurant. However, I was pleasantly surprised how good this place was. Almost all the patrons spoke Spanish and all the workers did. Food tasted authentic and they gave to sauce options if you wanted your meal kicked up. We played it too safe ordering the tacos, burritos and quesadilla. How in the world would this place get 4.5 stars? Do people know good food in Bozeman. The tacos had basically no taste at all. And I mean none. Chicken inside the Rellenos was also tasteless and stringy tough ( same as on the tacos) . Looks like they deep fried them, and if not they went straight from the oil bath to the plate. Also tasteless refried beans and rice, for the latter it is more sticky than any Asian rice at food court in any mall... And all of it served lukewarm . Thank you but no thanks.Over the span of 3 years, this was my fifth time there. Call me stupid for giving them more tries but the first two times were way better. By far my favorite restaurant in Bozeman. Been getting food from them since they were in their truck outside of BootBarn. The food is absolutely delicious and even with my dietary restrictions this place is a solid 10/10. The service from the staff is par none, always super friendly and with how often I come in some of them recognize me. The hostess is very sweet and welcoming, every time I'm there. Lastly the atmosphere and ambiance is just amazing, I know they put in great work for such a fun and welcoming place for anyone to come and enjoy the best Mexican food in Montana, if not the entire north western United States. Incredible food. I've never had an enchilada with meat on top, must be some magical signature from Veracruz. Salsa had the perfect heat with a hint of smokiness, so good. Guac fresh. Really wanted to love this place...but cannot - sadly. Bozeman could use a restaurant serving great Mexican food, carefully prepared with quality ingredients. Sadly, Los Jarochos is focusing on quantity, sacrificing quality. Portions are obscene, enough to feed a small family. Of course if such portions were made with quality ingredients the food cost would kill margins, so mediocre ingredients carelessly prepared are heaped high and served and handsome prices (most plates are $15-$18, making lunch with a drink over $20). I guess they're hoping that the gut ache from gorging on a 3(!) chicken stuffed chili rellenos or a giant barbacoa burrito will prevent you from noticing the Sysco schwag that you're being served. Half the portions and improve the quality, and I would happily be a regular. Until then...I'll have lunch at LaTinga. read more

Just went for the second time to try and give it another shot. Guacamole is straight up avocado paste from Costco. Food is beyond bland, some of the most bland Mexican food I've ever had. My barometer is Southern California Mexican food, but this was terrible for anywhere. Taco Bell is a step up. read more

Good Mexican food in Montana?! No way right? But it actually does exist! I found this place through Yelp of course and since I was jonesing for some tacos, I gave it a try. I had three tacos. The choriqueso, barbacoa, and al pastor. All three were good, but the choriqueso and the al pastor were on point! All of these were severed with cilantro/onion and their house sauce. One word about their sauce real quick...that stuff is soooo damn good. If they bottled it, I would buy it. It would be perfect for a breakfast taco as well.
