Holy guacamole! El Rodeo is such a hidden gem, and is incredibly authentic. I haven't found ANYTHING that even comes close to "true Mexican" in the greater Bozeman area since moving here. My go to? Al pastor and asada tacos! Simple and oh-so satisfying - with fresh onion and cilantro on top. Their house hot sauce makes the perfect topper to spice it up, and you'll get a side of traditional pickled carrots and jalapeños which are great additions to your plate. On Saturday's they offer 6 tacos for $10 - you should probably order one of those for yourself. Love, love (and did I say love?) this place. This is the first time I have been and I will never go there again. First of all when we got there there was only a few other people. But the food took a really long time. The food was great but it did come out a little cold. Also the kids burrito came out with ingredients that were not listed on the menu that a kid would obviously not eat. The first time we went here, I ordered a quesadilla and thought I'd never try another item on their menu because it was so good. Fast forward a few years and a few quesadillas, when I decided to try the birria tacos. I've now decided to get the quesadilla as an appetizer and order the tacos for the main course. Soooo good. This is the best Mexican food in Bozeman by far and very reasonable. The street-style tacos are terrific -- especially the carnitas, chorizo, and carne asada. The macho burrito is also really good. I am so addicted to the tacos that I haven't tried much else :) Everyone who works here is very friendly and welcoming. They have a location in the mall food court and a seasonal taco bus a few blocks to the east in the same parking lot as the Dollar Store. Note: This is not a sit down operation. Everything is either served on paper plates or in to-go containers. No doubt this helps to keep the prices low. Do not expect a Mexican restaurant with baskets of chips and margaritas. Expect a great hole-in-the-wall joint serving up great Mexican food for a quick, very casual bite or takeout. This place is very popular, but I have never had to wait very long. This was definitely Mexican fast food!! It would have been good to know that it isn't a sit-down restaurant and that you can't have a margarita or a beer with your meal. A plastic plate versus a styrofoam takeout container would have been easier to ear from for dining here.
