This is a great place to study with multiple tables inside with AC, soooo many plugs for your laptop, and WIFI connection is strong. I like it here because of its tall, decorative ceilings that used to be the interior of a bank. As you go into the bathroom, you can see more of its old design as a bank and it's pretty cool. I got the volcano which was pretty good. The service was friendly and he was happy to answer any of my questions. Thanks. read more

Great place to do some work! It's in an old bank building so plenty of space and outlets. It's situated right in the orange circle. They had many drink options but I got the iced maple latte which has hints of orange. It was delicious and the service was great. The baristas are willing to explain all the different nuances of each coffee. read more

Play Coffee - Interior - Coffee & Tea Near Me - Orange, California

So happy this coffeeshop opened up in Orange Circle! They took over the building of an old bank, so it is super spacious with tall ceilings and fun light fixtures. Staff is very friendly and very amenable to answering questions about all of their drinks. There are outlets available and free wifi which makes it the perfect study spot too! Would highly recommend their matcha if you're a matcha lover! They used ceremonial grade as their base and you can tell it is a high quality flavor. I got the hot maple matcha latte (less sweet with additional syrup on the side if needed) and thought the maple added just the right amount of sweetness without it overpowering the drink. Excited to make this a regular study and hangout spot :) The only thing I wish they had more of would be larger table spaces and more natural light for all seating spots, but this won't stop me from coming back! read more

This is a decent coffee shop, probably one of the better ones in Orange County. We've been to both locations dozens of times. A few problems that happen continuously: 1. The drip coffee is never hot. Even when we come at 8 in the morning, it's lukewarm. 2. The staff is soooo cold and apathetic. I know it's a coffee shop cliche at this point, but it's almost like they're trying to hire unfriendly people here. 3. The bathroom is gas-station level. What's the deal? Why is it always so dirty in here? Other than that, it's great that they carry Colossus baked goods, and the location is beautiful. I also appreciate that they don't up-charge for alt. milks. read more

A favorite stop in the Circle of Orange, Play Coffee is my go-to for a quality craft coffee or tea beverage. It is located inside a historic bank building. Flavor profiles of their beans prepared in unique menu items elevates this shop above others. I encourage taking the time to order a drink in a "here" cup, and to sit and savor while enjoying the visual play of the modern coffee counter, surrounded by stunning 1920's era architecture. The welcoming baristas work to ensure you experience a smooth cup of brew. If you like latte drinks, must tries include their Cardamom Latte (sophisticated spice blend) and their Volcano Latte (well balance sweet / smoky). The Iron Goddess Oolong tea is delicious hot or cold. For a special coffee moment, pause at Play. read more

Cool architecture, worth a quick visit to check out how the Wells Fargo bank was redesigned as a coffee house. The coffee wasn't great & was on the more expensive side. Theres pastry options, but they weren't great either. Seemed like the pastries were over baked! Otherwise, its a good place to go to get some work done or socialize with your friends. Theres wifi, but limited plug areas. There was a lot if students studying there or chatting. read more

LOVE the ambience in this coffee shop! It repurposes an old bank (the first bank building in Orange, I believe - built in the early 1900s), so the interior is gorgeous. There's not a lot of seating on the weekends because it does get a touch crowded, but if you can secure a seat I think this is an excellent place to study. The Shaken Maple Latte was a delight, with a hint of orange flavor mixed in. The cashier asked if whole milk was okay, so I believe you can customize the milk as well. For coffee lovers in the OC area, this is a place you should try! read more

I've been meaning to check out Play Coffee for over a year now, and I was not disappointed! The aesthetics are very clean and neat, and I love the open floor plan they followed since renovating ( it was a bank first!) I got a volcano latte that the barista recommended, and it was amazing. You can taste the depth in the latte but also the slight saltiness. Only complaint is the parking situation, but unfortunately, that's all of downtown orange. I will be back! read more

Drinks are not as consistent as they were when this place first opened and for the first year following. Volcano Latte tastes completely different than what it used to taste like. same with the maple. too bad. read more

good coffee & service. Located in downtown Orange, Play coffee has a beautiful interior and would be a nice place to catch up with a friend or do some studying. Pretty sure it used to be an old bank building - go inside & check it out! Street parking only. read more

This coffee shop is located in a beautiful old bank building. Ordered the cream top cold brew. Paid almost $10 with tip. Extremely expensive for a cup of coffee with 70% ice. Cold brew was a bit more sour than to my liking but the cream top was good and appreciated the friendly service provided by the young gentleman at the register. read more

play coffee has hands down the best coffee (and matcha!) in all of orange county, and california in my opinion. there has never been a time where i have visited and had a poor experience. you can tell that the staff are knowledgable, friendly, and proud of what they are serving. beautiful building and location with walkable spots in the area, perfect for getting work done or exploring the area. 10/10! read more

This coffee shop was AWESOME. It's a former bank turned coffee shop, so it's super spacious and the outside still looks like the bank! I hope they never change it. My friends and I got the strawberry matcha (9.5/10), maple matcha (8.5/10), and a vanilla latter with an add shot and oat milk (8.5/10). Overall the drinks were amazing! A little pricy if you modify but most coffee shops are the same. Came in during a Sunday and we got lucky with parking in front, just know it's like in the orange circle so it's def a busy area but cars are always leaving! I saw people working/studying there as well. Didn't wait too long for the drinks. Would definitely come back! read more

This review will capture my experience working at this coffee shop. Firstly, parking was easy since there is a lot behind the building with designated parking for coffee shop customers. WiFi was fast and I had no trouble finding seating in the morning, however it does it a bit crowded after 10am. There is a mix of working professionals and some college students so bring a pair of noise cancelling head phones unless you don't mind hearing loud college banter. Moving onto the coffee, the maple latte was well made, flavorful, and delicious. It had a bit of an Orange creamsicle taste which was really unique but not overpowering. The service was great and they also have reusable cups and plates. The interior is beautiful and I love the high ceilings. The space itself seems underutilized and they have a lot of room for expanding the area and seating. Overall, great coffee shop! read more

Extremely friendly staff! The ambiance is very cool as it is a renovation of an old Wells Fargo Bank building. The vibe is cool and it seemed like ppl were studying there. Was okay! Can't complain but wasn't the biggest fan! Definitely better options out there or maybe i just didnt get the right drink:)

Got the shakerato because I wanted something strong. This is suppose to be the strongest and sweetest drink they have. It's 3 shots of espresso with some sort of sweetener. I think I should've ordered it half as sweet because it was very sweet. It also came with an orange peel and I did not think it needed it. I am not sure if all of their drinks come with an orange peel but the flavor was overpowering. read more

I ordered the maple iced latte with almond which was delicious. It's in an old Wellsfargo bank building that gives off a very relaxed vibe.

The shop's aesthetic is absolutely perfect for enjoying a great cup of coffee! I tried the Volcano Latte and the Strawberry Matcha Latte. The Volcano Latte was fantastic with its sweet and salty combo, perfect for a hot afternoon. Unfortunately, I was disappointed that the Strawberry Matcha was premade, so I couldn't substitute with oat milk. read more

Hard to find somewhere to sit but the coffee was amazing. I went around noon to get some work done, I waited about 20 minutes for a seat to open up. Most of the people there are studying/ working so it's a good place for that. read more

Stumbled upon this new coffee shop while walking around Old Town Orange! It's inside an old bank, has vaulted ceilings, wall columns, and you can still see the bank teller counters. Super unique and cool place -- feels like you're in New York or a big city. Its spacious with lots of seating and outlets, but it can get a bit loud if people are talking. Didn't get to try their drinks today because I already had my share of caffeine today, but the barista was telling me about their oolong punch, and it seems like they have a wide variety of teas from around the world (Taiwan, Croatia, South Africa) and espresso beans. I did get the cookies & cream donut, which was yummy but nothing super special. It was more like a cake donut and doughier as opposed to light/fluffy, but a still nice treat. They also had a lime margarita donut which was unique. Will definitely be stopping by in the future to try some of their drinks and study! read more

We really wanted to like this place especially since the ambiance seems great to do work, but unfortunately it didn't live up to expectations. Drinks were just okay, and WiFi was unreliable - difficult to connect and very slow. Iced Genou Matcha Latte ($10): 2/5 - this was basically milk with a slight hint of matcha Iced Volcano Latte ($7): 3/5 - sweet and salty - tasted diluted Hot Vanilla Latte ($6): 2/5 - tasted like any other hot coffee Area is busy so parking may be tough depending on when you go. Customer service was not very helpful - we asked about the 4 different matcha and they weren't able to describe the differences, just that the more expensive the better quality. We asked 2 different workers too. Hopefully if we come back, the experience is better because this place has potential. read more

Solid multi-roaster coffee shop in Downtown Orange Firstly, as a graphic designer, I can't help but be impressed by Play's excellent branding direction. The blue pops so well! Menu is simple but also offers some variety. They've got plenty of options from classics to signature beverages. Loved all of the different options for matcha as well, each listed with its recommended pairing (i.e. latte, tonic). By far the best cold brew I've had in the area. I was told that the beans they use for cold brew rotate, but whatever's been being served the first week of August 2024 has been pretty tasty. I got notes of cherry and dark chocolate. Not too acidic, but not too dark :) Very nice space and amicable + helpful staff! read more

What can I say that about this place that I already haven't in my Fullerton Play review. To recap: Attention to detail: 5/5 Care for customers: 5/5 Location: omg 5/5 such a beautiful bank huh Parking: 4/5 they have a parking lot just for play and several nearby, but it can be busy during weekends with lots of events happening right outside (fun and interesting though!) Drink quality: 5/5. They carefully source their ingredients and so much thought is put into each step of the process. Always a treat to hear about it from the owner, Leon. Drink taste: 4-5/5. Depends on the drink. I could guarantee that their matcha and pour overs are all great (poured thru April). However, I'm not a huge fan of sweet drinks, so my review isn't one to be consulted for their specialty drinks (such as the Eiffel and sweetened lattes). Hot chocolate is dope though. Overall, they will continue taking a portion of my paycheck every month How can I not recommend this place read more

You can get equally good coffee at so many other, better places nearby.
